I experienced a great deal of inconvenience which actually felt a bit dodgy( almost like some kin of fraud). I was given the card machine to swipe for the total funds charged for the rental and the deposit. The amount was properly displayed on the screen and i swiped for it. However , to my surprise as i was still standing there another separate amount with a different figure came out of my account with ref from budget. I immediately queried with the consultant and he said something like 'the system withheld for itself some funds" . This was obviously very confusing to me. How does a system withhold funds from my account? how did these funds get our of my account without me authorising it? This is the reason i say it seems rather fraudulent. I had to escalate the matter to saps and had the issue resolved two days later- This was a big inconvenience over things that they themselves could not even explain- I am still very much unsettled by the lack of explanation to what cased this so-called system error. This experience rendered me to not trust Budget again or refer their services.

Avis consultants Thandi and Sisanda were excellent and went above and beyond to ensure my son and I made it on time to Cape Town. My only issue is with Avis call centre as they could not give me feedback re my refundable deposit repayment and said it may take up to a week(?) and R7500 is quite high.

On collection and drop off of the vehicle I took a video of the entire car just to protect me against fraudulent damage claims made to the vehicle. After drop off I had an email stating that I had damaged the car. I checked my videos that I took on collection and the damage was there before they handed the car over to me in the beginning. I’m currently in the process of perusing this fraudulent claim made by WOODFORD CAR RENTAL in Cape Town.

I didn't have to wait long, the car was already there and clean and bringing the car back was excellent, a gentleman was there when I dropped the car and they did their check and quickly I was on my way as my pickup was already there, that was very professional. No hidden costs on charges and the fact that the gadget for tolls was also very functional, it many my journey easy, I will recommend Europcar to my family and friends, actually I have already done so and I will use it next time I need to hire a car

When picking up I fave the agent a voucher for the rental but I charged a 2nd time. I paid for full coverage insurance, my hubcaps got stolen and I have just received an invoice for the cost of replacing the hubcaps. This is not what I expected having paid the insurance premium. Will never rent from Woodford again. A rental that should have cost just over $300 is now costing me over $1000.

I was under the impression I had already paid for the rental. They told me that was just a booking fee, and charged me an additional $50 USD. There also was an incredibly long wait to check in despite there being only one other person in line in front of me. The staff also said I could have asked to have my status transferred to the SA system, but I was not aware I needed to do this. I am wondering why I spent $50 through Kayak, will this be refunded?

I arranged for a 5 am pickup. There was no shuttle. I was then waiting for the office to open at 6am as was posted at the office. By 6:10 there was still no one. I rented a vehicle from Avis. I will not be using hertz again.

There was no facility at the airport from which to pick up the car. When we arrived and were waiting for luggage at Cape Town I received a phone call from a representative telling me to meet him at the information desk to pick up the car. It was difficult to find the meeting point. We then proceeded to the garage where we stood outside in the cold for over 30 minutes while the representative tried again and again to input the required information. He texted me later that day and asked me to send photos of drivers license and passport because his attempts to upload had failed. The car itself was a stripped down version with manual locks and seat adjustments and none of the current safety features. The steering was dangerously loose, making each drive extremely stressful. We were told to return the car to the drop and go location at the airport, which we discovered had a 2 minute parking limitation and was intended to be used to drop off passengers for their flights. No representative was there and we had been given no further instructions. We didn’t have a rental agreement because the agent had failed to email me one, so we didn’t even have contact information. We finally called the emergency number painted on the side of the vehicle (another terrible idea which tells everyone we’re tourists and an easy mark). We did reach someone and a representative arrived in 15 minutes to check in the car. It felt like we had chosen a company like “Rent a Wreck”. Terrible!

Contract should stipulate that the e-toll cost will be for customer’s account just for clarity. Otherwise a good deal and no problems at all. Well done to Tempest and Europcar through whom it was hired. Thank you!

1. The counter/car was not at the location stated 2. The new location is not 24/7 3. Although their email confirmation stated we could decline insurance, at the counter they added insurance without asking and insisted it was mandatory 4. The whole process was a colossal waste of time and energy as we ended up cancelling the reservation/transaction We ended up going to Hertz where we were treated politely and helped quickly. Insurance was not forced on us and we got the rate promised.
