Lisbon hotels near Palácio de São Bento

Cons: Although I checked in on line a day before arrival, our room was not ready. When they gave us a key, someone was in the room. Finally when we finally got in the room, it was not the twin beds I had requested. The last full day we were there, we came back to find a key in the electric switch. This hotel is very careless about keys. Prices for breakfast in the hotel were ridiculous.

Cons: The view on our room (one of the cheapest ones) did not have a good view, but I guess that is to be expected (it looked out over some flat rooftops with astroturf). One small thing, when we went out during the day my husband was dressed in a t-shirt and jeans and one the doormen sort of implied that he was looking for the wrong building, but it wasn't overtly rude, he just tried to stop him and ask if he could help direct him before he went in the door.

Cons: Staff is ok, but the so called lady executive mgr was not friendly and not try to solve problems. She did not try to make a six dollar error on a 3 nite stay. She said that mistake had to make by their executive DIRECTOR . That six dollar had to charge when we check out( they did not tell us when we checked in. And our was a PREPAID stay). The washing sink basin was made of kind of soft pastic( in a 4, 5 star hotel ??).

Cons: When we (group of six people) book with paid in full and check in to hotel, we DID NOT know that we have to pay the taxes 2 euros per day and the person help to check in did not mention that either. After we signed our name on the card which we DID NOT see the taxes 2 euros per day on the card, but when we check out someone put that taxes 2 euros per day on the card afterward. THAT IS NOT RIGHT. IT IS THE MATTER OF PRINCIPLE. They can put any amount on the card after we signed. We REFUSED to pay the taxes. I hope that the hotel do not charge us.

Cons: The temperature of the room was extremely warm and the thermostat didn't work. When I informed the front desk they told me that the thermostats don't work properly during the winter. Our floor had a strong smell of stale cigarettes throughout our stay. The walls were not well insulated and we were awoken by the other guests in the middle of the night.

Cons: I forgot my swimsuit and couldn't use the spa relaxing pool area!

Cons: There really was nothing to not like about this hotel. The price was a little on the high side but I have spent up to $500 a night in other hotels that were not nearly as nice. The staff is very friendly and helpful, they check on you in your room several times throughout the morning to late afternoon. If you want to keep your visits from the staff to a minimum use the do not disturb sign. There visits are out of good intentions though, like refreshing the mini bar, fresh towels every morning, free bottled water, cleaning etc.

Cons: I ended up at the Altis after a very long day of travel and a disastrous Airbnb experience left me and my friends without a place to stay. Desperate, we found the Altis on Kayak with a 5-star rating and were willing to put a little extra money in given how nice the place looked in the app. Unfortunately, this ended up being a terrible experience. The staff was extremely slow and unhelpful, making us wait a very long time to get to our rooms after a very long day. Moreover, the rooms bore absolutely no resemblance to the photos we saw on the app - they were outdated, dingy, and dirty. There were hairs in our showers, and the floors were stained. The bed was extremely uncomfortable. The wifi didn't work, coming in and out every few minutes. In fact, we ended our stay early given how bad the conditions were - though it took ages to do so at reception. There is no way this hotel is 5 stars and it should not be advertised as such. Personally, I would like for the hotel to compensate me in some way for such a misleading and poor experience.

Cons: Booked a superior room with courtyard view, got a small bed and not view to speak of Other hotels we stayed in Paris or Warsaw offer complimentary water, here it’s only one time on arrival and they don’t advertise it unless you ask

Cons: Location is ok but inconvenient to most sights. Breakfast was low quality.

Cons: The location is very quiet and near the beautiful Eduardo VII park near the top of Avenida da Liberdade. There is a transportation hub nearby. However, there were few cafes, restaurants, and other amenities within walking distance.

Cons: Kayak says there’s a free airport shuttle, which is the main reason I booked this hotel. There is a shuttle, but it’s not free. It’s 13€. If it wasn’t for that, I would have nothing bad to say.

Cons: reception looks like an office with staff chatting and interrupting each other while tending to guests; facilities old (shower hot/cold spurts); no kettle in room, limited charging points; slow elevators; looks more like a hotel focused upon large tour groups than individuals.

Cons: One of the 2 special requests with the online check in was ignored--the request for the feather/down pillow. It would have been nice either for the pillow to be in the room, or an explanation of why not. Neither was provided, however.

Cons: The location, although close to the airport, made me feel like it was located in the center of a traffic circle, both from the vehicular activity surrounding the area and the proximity to the highway. Since it was airport close, there was jet noise from take offs or landings, but not too overpowering due to good noise reducing windows.

Cons: The bar staff was okay but not outstanding. I was rather surprised at the limited hours of the restaurant for lunch and dinner. Dinner was okay but not as good as the breakfast.

Cons: Bathroom was not perfectly clean. Restaurant food was average. Checkout clerk did not give me a receipt.

Cons: Christmas Day evening no shuttle available at 22:30, taxi cost €10. But shuttle next morning was great.

Cons: Location, as I said, is not great for tourists.
