Cons: There was a payment error that took a long time to resolve after my stay and although the hotel was aware of the error I had to do all of the leg work to resolve the issue, when, with the expected quality of the hotel I had hoped they would be more proactive on their end. Can be difficult to get you car out of the front area, seemed to be blocked up a lot, needed to reverse out twice.

Cons: 2 Doormen? Bellmen? and the Valet watched as I dragged my suitcase out of the trunk of my car and up the steps, never offering to assist me. I had the $5 tip money in my pocket to give them. Someone screaming and yelling in the hall at 4 a.m. this morning was not pleasant.

Cons: It was really not a Hilton issue, but I reserved a room by a third party and it wasn't reserved, which resulted in me paying more for the room than I anticipated. My original room couldn't be canceled so I am still in the process of trying to get my money back due to paying twice.

Had to call again and luckily it was a different person who answered from front desk & he sent them right away. When complained about her the customer service did not respond. Cons: We were at the pool three separate times. No one ever came and asked about drinks or food. We were sitting 15’ from the point of sale. Disappointing. We we went to our room. And then we tried to order room service. No kids menu, and that’s mostly OK, but then we got the food. It was delivered in brown bags in disposable containers. Not “room service”, more like takeout. Had we known that, we would’ve ordered from any of the fine restaurants in downtown Houston. Uber Eats or someone could’ve delivered in boxes and the meal would’ve been much better. I have stayed in many Marriotts all over the world and the US. I don’t recall ever getting a fast food meal. The pool needs work. It doesn’t looked scrubbed regularly—water jets clogged, tubes calcifying, beautiful lookout glass over Houston is barely see-thru. Plants hanging over into lazy river a little annoying. I never take surveys, but this experience was so compelling I had to. I wanted a “vacation” experience where I’m carefree and a little tipsy and spoiled. For $400 per night, it would have been nice to get butter with my morning bagel. None available. What’s happening to Marriott?

Cons: We had extremely noisy neighbors, so we didn't sleep at all. We tried to call the front desk to get help but had to wait on hold for 10 minutes at 11 at night before they answered. The pool was so full of people it wasn't worth going in. As understand it, non-guests can buy tickets to swim in the pool. Selling tickets to non-guests makes the experience a lot worse for the guests because we can't enjoy the facilities that we paid A LOT of money for. The number of people in the lazy river did not become acceptable until about 9:30 at night. I don't think I will be going back.

Pros: The location of this particular Holiday Inn is very convenient to the downtown area. It is within walking distance to the convention center, Minute Maid Park, the Toyota Center, etc. The layout of the room was great. I particularly like the furniture that includes drawers for clothes storage and the table/desk for computers. It all provides for a lot of space. Another option in the room that I really like is the use of the bathroom amenities in the shower. Holiday Inn now provides large pump bottles in the shower with gel, shampoo, and conditioner. I was pleasantly surprised with this. No more small bottles to use for the shampoo and conditioner. The included breakfast was tremendous. There was such a great selection of hot and cold food. The taste and temperature of all the food was outstanding.

I waited about 15 minutes and then started looking for someone and found a cleaning lady who helped me find the clerk like 25 minutes later. The clerk look like he was sleeping. Cons: The guy up front was rude. We were unaware cash was NOT accepted to pay for room. One of the reasons we booked there was to go to the pool and the picture advertises it but it was closed and under construction. Ever thing seemed over priced. And we've stayed at better places. Also, we only vallet parked the first night and yet were charged for both nights there.

Cons: Getting out the door in the morning is a pain. The included breakfast is ordered off a dirty-looking laminated printout menu rather than being a grab & go type thing -- feels like an afterthought meant to attract people who want breakfast included. I waited a minute for them to heat up a pretty good egg sandwich but the grab and go option was one pastry, a fruit, and a coffee or juice, which isn't all that filling but is okay. To be fair, breakfast was fine but definitely shouldn't be a differentiator if comparing this hotel to a similarly priced one without breakfast. There was a 15 minute wait with a line to collect the car from the valet parking, and valet parking is the only option (they do give in & out privileges, and the valet guys were pretty efficient but the morning rush still caused delays). The way they have all the different brands in the same building with a wraparound lobby is a bit weird.
