8,0 Excellent
Pros: Travelling alone this was the perfect hotel. Excellent location (in down town) so you can walk everywhere. Great breakfast, beautiful room with Nespresso lovely robe and slippers - AND - a proper hair dryer!!!
Cons: The curtains did not fully black out the room, which could have been fitted better, other than that I have zero problems - will stay here next time.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything about this hotel is fabulous! From the location to the decor everything is thoughtful and inviting. It was such a great surprise to us the breakfast was served each day, it was made so well and I even got ideas for how I want to make breakfast at home!
Cons: Nothing! We had such a great experience. Thank you!!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Warm decor and such an inviting space. Lovely breakfast and quiet well designed rooms. Excellent location - walk to everything.
Cons: Dinner a bit pricey but the US dollar is weak in Iceland. No options for late night food.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Very centrally located, comfy bed and excellent breakfast.
Cons: - i had asked for a quiet room, to which I got an answer saying they’d try but could not promise anything. In the end we got a room above a really busy road that was quite annoyingly noisy. So don’t go if you’re planning on having a restful stay. Might be really really noisy! - No parking (which we hadn’t anticipated and it cost us extra money: parking doesn’t come cheap in Reykjavík)
6,0 Good
Pros: The location of the hotel is fantastic; right in the heart of the city, next to the main shopping street. There is a parking building right across the street, which was very convenient for us since we had rented a car (it cost us approx. 20-25 euro per night but you should check the prices beforehand). The breakfast buffet was really nice - it included pancakes, and freshly squeezed grapefruit juice.
Cons: The standard rooms are really small; there's barely enough room between the foot of the bed and the wall to cross to the other side. Overall, not good value-for-money.
9,7 Excellent
Pros: The hotel decor in this hotel is really well designed. The lobby, the lounge, the restaurant & the rooms were all super cool. We loved it! We stayed in a really great room. It had a living room with a pullout that our 2 year old slept on & a great big king in the bedroom. The bathroom had a really cool clawfoot tub & big shower. I loved the decor in our room! Blackout curtains were great as we were jet lagged & the sun doesn't go down in the Summer iceland. Breakfast was yummy & the coffee was excellent. Everything is VERY expensive in Iceland but this hotel was pricey even for Iceland. Luckily we had a free night from hotels.com do we only had to pay the taxes. I'm very impressed with Canopy by Hilton though & hope to stay in another one of their hotels.
Cons: It was a bit noisy as our room was right on the busy road side of the hotel.

Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hotel Phoenix, you'll be centrally located in Reykjavik, steps from Laugavegur and 13 minutes by foot from Hallgrimskirkja. The front desk is staffed during limited hours. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours).
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Very nice and kindly. Delicious Breakfast.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast exceptional, room large and amenities exquisite. Staff very helpful and friendly.
9,1 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was well located in city center. The staff was very helpful with luggage and their property is very clean and nice. It was very quiet. The strict 4 pm check in was a problem as we arrived about 11 am in the center city. The airport is about 1 hour away by Flybus and leaving your luggage at the central bus station would mean another trip to the central bus station to retrieve it. The breakfast is the same each day and is a cold platter. Very nicely done with excellent coffee and tea. Very nicely served and the staff was quite helpful in every way.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: A converted townhouse, this place is great! My room was spacious and clean. The two men running the hotel were extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast was amazing and filling. One quirk is they have you leave your room key with them when you leave for the day or for dinner. I assume this prevents you from losing it. You have to ring the bell and they come and open the front door for you. I’d stay here again.
Cons: Very little. There is no on-site parking, but there are plenty of spots within 200m of the front door. You don’t pay for parking 1800 - 0900 on weekdays. It is a little bit of a walk to get “downtown.” I had no problem with this, but others might.
5,4 Okay
Pros: Positive: breakfast good - cleaning of room OK
Cons: Phoenix lacks other facilities besides the room - eg no reception area or bar - door to hotel was always closed which is unusual for a HOTELs - normally you get a key so you can open the (if the door is closed) door when you arrive late. Charging 5 € / day for wifi - year 2018..... ,
9,2 Excellent
Pros: I stayed at the Hotel Phoenix for 6 nights, which is a wonderful hotel. Even though it is a small hotel, there is always somebody on the reception for 24 hours, which made me as a single female traveler feel very safe. The two gentlemen that work there also took my luggage up to the room, and at check out back down swiftly, you don't even have to ask for help, it was natural for them to carry my luggage. They are also very happy to help with information. For me it was important to see the Northern lights, and they would check constantly for me the weather updates (whether if was going to be cloudy or clear sky, which is important to have in order to see them, also what the activity was (scale from 0 - 10). At breakfast they are very accommodating, making sure that you have enough coffee or tea, always. This is not a buffet where you help yourself, they serve a breakfast plate to you, and they add a couple of slices of ham, but when I mentioned that I don't eat meat, they would not forget about that and added extra cheese instead for the rest of my stay. I felt cared for, also because they would remember those kind of details. The room was really spacious, clean and the mattress was just perfect, not too soft as you usually find in other hotels. It is the second time, that I slept in a strange bed and it felt as comfy as my own bed at home! (first time in Thailand), and I have stayed in many many hotels. Even the toilet paper in the room is high quality! This hotel does not provide lunch/dinner nor room service, but this was not a problem for me at all as there are many different kind of restaurants close by, within walking distance you can explore. Without hesitation, I would stay in that hotel again for my next trip to Iceland!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Service, breakfast and location.
Cons: Nothing
10,0 Excellent
Pros: What a charming boutique hotel right in central Reyjkjavik! Excellent service- the staff is super friendly, knowledgeable and professional. Beautiful furnishings, very clean room and surroundings, excellent breakfast. You can never ask for more. There is a calm to this small beautifully-run hotel—a great way to unwind after enjoying the city. Will definitely stay here next time im in Reykjavik!

Pros: The rooms were clean, but small, comfortable. The breakfast was wonderful. The staff was outstanding. This was near the main shopping district

Breakfast was great - plentiful and lots of choice. All in all a fabulous hotel that I would recommend to anyone visiting Reykjavík.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was amazing and went on until 10am which was nice as we didn't need to get up so early. The location was fabulous easy to walk into the main areas. The spa facilities were exceptional & because it was Christmas they decided not to charge us!

Pros: Great location, nice room and friendly staff.

Pros: Staff where very helpful and nothing was too much. Rooms where all very new and big. We stayed in a family room which had a double bed, double sofa bed and also a dining area. Bathroom was excellent. Views over the lake from the rooms where amazing to wake upto.

Pros: Great room, hosts were very nice - liked their breakfast
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly family run hotel. Nothing too much bother. Hotel layout interesting, rooms modern, clean & comfortable with wonderful view. Superb.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is situated in a beautiful location just outside Reykjavik. From the room we had a beautiful view of the lake. The hostess and staff do everything to ensure you have a pleasant stay. For example, you will be woken up when the Northern Lights go by or at the end of breakfast you will be asked if you want anything else before they start cleaning up. Especially the latter feels very pleasant and you see in few hotels. Only downside is that the speed of the WiFi is very slow and we in the room had little to no WiFi range.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is beside the lake that gives very peaceful and nice scenery.
Cons: The hotel is not very accessible without driving which is inconvenient to guest for meals and breakfast is not included.

9,0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location. Right in Main Street in Reykjavik. Very clean. Very helpful staff. Quiet room. Spacious & nice bathroom
Cons: The food in the bar was only average& small portions. Duvets were tiny!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was great. From the atmosphere and decorations to the people working there. The front desk staff were amazing and friendly. They were always ready to help and had a smile on there faces everyday. We got a family sized room for two people just because I heard the rooms might be smaller. However the room was bigger than I expected including the bathroom. You hear that the shower doors fold to make more room. However even extended there is enough room for the other person to use the sink or get ready. The hotel gives you a cell phone with data included, which was honestly amazing. I made the phone into a wifi hotspot and was able to use my own cell phone throughout the trip. Just bring portable charger with you as the phone battery dies quickly this way. The hotel is also located on the main strip and perfect walking distance from restaurants and bars. But a few blocks down so you don't hear the noise of the bars at night. We never tried the breakfast downstairs as we always had say trips planned in the mornings. There is a bakery down the street that is open early I can't remember the name of it but the front desk told us about it. Big enough to sit down and have breakfast, but gets packed as well so give yourself enough time if you have morning plans. The room does come with a pot to make your own hot tea and instant coffee if you are in a rush.
Cons: Hard to say what I did not like about the hotel. The only thing I can think of is that the room gets very warm and with no thermostat to control temperature. We opened the window everyday however it only opens a tiny crack and doesn't stay open on its own. Probably from the wind outside. Just bring light pajamas with you and you will be fine.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Location and view.
Cons: Smal room, not much storage room.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Atmosphere, decoration, location, food, outdoor Jacuzzi...
Cons: Gym and no complimentary slippers to go with your robe when using the outdoor Jacuzzi

Pros: Great hotel. Clean rooms, helpful staff, nice amenities, fabulous location. Stayed here with a few friends for our four day visit. The location is very central to great shopping, restaurants and bus stop for excursions, Highly recommend and will definitely return.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Very comfotable room with a great shower. Fabulous location with lots of places to eat, shop and see minutes away. Friendly and helpful staff at reception plus a great gym, sauna and plunge pool. No complaints at all.
Cons: Menu in onsite restaurant slightly limited but the bar lwas very welcoming and friendly.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Reception very helpful friendly. Warm calming atmosphere convenient to everything we were interested in.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel for solo travelers to Reykjavik. Close to everything!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything
Cons: nothing
9,4 Excellent
Pros: Somehow this isn't mentioned on their website or any reviews I've seen, but Hotel Alda gives each guest an android smartphone in lieu of a room phone. This phone works throughout Iceland, has reception on speed dial, and has all the other bells and whistles you'd expect of s smartphone: maps, activity guides, etc. A great and welcome surprise!
Cons: Unfortunately for the hotel, but fortunately for Reykjavik generally, there is a bit of construction going on near the facilities. Not a big deal if you're getting up early to go on an adventure, but if you intend to sleep in do ask for a room on the other side of the hotel. This advice should be good through the end of summer 2015.

Pros: Location right in downtown easy walking to shops and sights. We rented a car parked right in front of hotel, plus great starting point for Golden Circle and Southern Coast drives.
Cons: Hotel food prices, but not when you consider dinningout in Reykjavik is extremely expensive they weren't that badge
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Modern room, facilities is great. Wifi is good. Helpful staff esp. on parking.
Cons: Curtain is not fully black out.
10,0 Excellent

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was very friendly. Very clean. Great breakfast buffet with everything you could imagine...walking distance from downtown
Cons: Dinner buffet was really expensive so we didn't try that.

Pros: Great location - 5 minute walk from main town area. Room was spacious and shower was hot. Clean towels and bedding. Good channels on TC. Tea and Coffee facilities in room. Reception staff were very helpful. Good location for tour pick ups. Wifi was great,
Cons: Bathroom amentities weren't great - felt like washing up liquid. Breakfast was ok but could be improved.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: I really loved the hotel. Its about a 5 min walk either the shopping/bar areas or the water! But the staff was extremely helpful with everything!! They kept the hotel spotless and were great at suggestions for everything we inquired about! I would definitely stay there again!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Our stay at the storm hotel was wonderul. The person at the desk even went out of their way to call our tour company when we missed out bus. The tour company sent a small van to just pick us up. So thankful for that desk person!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: + Only 5-10 mins to citycenter. Perfect for a nice walk through the heart of Reykjavik. + Clean and modern + Good complimentary continental breakfast + Happy Hours everyday + Onsite Parking
10,0 Excellent
Pros: I enjoyed the hot breakfast every morning as well as the great hospitality. Hotel was very clean and quiet. I would definitely visit Iceland again and stay at this location! Thanks for everything!
Cons: I believe the hotel should have washcloths to bathe as the towels are pretty big to bathe with. A variety of different icelandic food should be available for breakfast even though the breakfast was great.
7,9 Good
Pros: Rooms were good size, good neighbourhood - close to restaurants and sights but just outside the busy tourist area. Cleaning of the room was a very high standard.
Cons: The staff were a bit cold - not happy making eye contact or offering help. The bathroom shower was not good. The wet room design didn’t have the right flooring to drain the water properly so water got everywhere.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff was helpful. Room was clean. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good.

Pros: Great location, brilliant staff and facilities (including its own Jamie Oliver restaurant). One of the best hotels I’ve stayed in.
Cons: Nothing.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The room was large by European standards. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Great location. Would definitely stay here again.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Location was great, right next to Bus Stop 3 where you can get picked up and dropped off from bus tours and airport buses
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Clean rooms, nice decor
Cons: Not best value for the money. Breakfast expensive
7,3 Good
Pros: Quiet, private.
Cons: I arrived at 7am but paid for the night before because I needed to sleep. At 12 noon it here was a nock on the door and a moment later a phone call. They wanted me to check out even though I had a five day reservation . Actually should not of been charged for the first day because I didn't get what I paid for, sleep. The staff was always to busy on the computer to acknowledge guest unless you engaged them.
9,1 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Quiet and close to everything. Room was adequate for my purposes and comfortable to sleep in. The staff was helpful and friendly. Will definitely come back.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Didn't take the breakfast option
Cons: Nothing all very good
5,7 Okay
Pros: The location is great
Cons: There are so many more hotels in the area that in our opinion had much more to offer. We experienced a few hotels in the Reykjavik and the others were similar in price (if not less) and the staff was so wonderful and friendly, rooms were above and beyond and the amenities were far superior. Overall would give this a 3 out of 5 star.

Cons: None
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Central clean
Cons: Staff maybe less polite but more communication. They are not hosting a queen.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Beautifully located next to the church at the top of town. Easy walk to all restaurants and bars. Walked to dinner a the Hereford Steakhouse and it was AMAZING. You must try the Puffin and Reindeer. The room was impeccable and very comfortable. They have normal rooms and studios. I had a studio for the night. Full bathroom, fridge, electric kettle, parking behind the building. Great view of the church from my room.
Cons: I have no complaints.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Sunna is my favorite place to stay while in Reykjavík. Ideally located with nice staff and reasonable rates. And they extended breakfast hours during the Airwaves festival! :)
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Very clean, close to town centre, with parking.
Cons: No coffee in the room.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Good breakfast, clean and excellent location. Can’t go wrong with Sunna. I had a wonderful view of the church.
Cons: Not Sunnas fault, but street noise was very loud, due to having an excellent location though, just be aware noisy when you sleep.

Pros: Great location & service
Cons: The rooms were dark
9,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very nice. One of my luggage locks broke and I couldn’t get it open. They had the maintenance guy cut it off for me.
Cons: Our double bed was two single beds pushed together. It made for an uncomfortable nights sleep as my husband and I kept rolling into the crack in the middle.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Location was fab (although noise disturbance on Saturday evening until 4am wasn’t great) Clean, fresh, friendly hotel and staff. Only downside being the loss of my necklace during our stay.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was right in the city center, great facilities and the staff was very friendly. The hotel seemed to be newly built because the rooms were up to date, nicely decorated, and the water from the shower did not smell at all!
Cons: Nothing this hotel was perfect for our stay!
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Location is perfect, couldn’t have asked for more. Breakfast was really nice, a great selection of hot and cold foods with an Icelandic touch The staff were great, really friendly and helpful
Cons: I booked the junior suite. It had two single beds joined together and was not much bigger than their other rooms. Due to a flight cancellation we re booked an extra night and swapped to a standard double room which was half the price at the time. Shocked to find there was a really nice DOUBLE bed and everything the other room had minus a bath, a cow hide on the floor and a lamp that I kept hitting me head on which was 5ft above the sofa. I would 100% say stay at this hotel but in hindsight I would have saved myself hundreds of £‘a and booked a standard or superior double instead.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The service was impeccable! I loved my stay, and I will definitely stay again during my next visit to Iceland.
7,0 Good
Pros: Good location
Cons: Bar prices
7,0 Good
Pros: Hotel is in an excellent location and rooms are stylish and big enough. Breakfast is good and on until 10 which is great.
Cons: There is a nightclub right next door which kept us awake most nights the music is very loud and can be heard very clearly from rooms. The tv was supposed to be a smart tv but stopped working on first night. The restaurant was closed which was annoying as it is listed as an amenity.

Pros: Very clean and modern
Cons: Very small shower, long walk to city center, bus infrequent
6,0 Good
Pros: Hotel is in nice location and the well appointed with modern furniture and everything worked fine. Staff was nice and courteous. Elevators need room keys to function so it's very secure. The view from the room was ok. Bathroom was very small.
Cons: We wanted to have some light dinner at the bar but the selection was so poor we decided not to. We ordered some beer and snacks and all they had was cashews. Who eats cashews with beer ? Did not even have some peanuts or finger food like fries.
8,0 Excellent

Pros: Very nice staff, clean room and hotel, nice breakfast and a great location close to Reykjavik center and the zoo, hot pools etc. Almost all tour operators will be able to pick you up directly from this hotel which is great.
Cons: I liked everything.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was really clean. The staff were all very friendly and helpful! The breakfast was nice with lots of different options available. I would definitely stay in the hotel again.
Cons: It is a little bit out of the city and taxi's are expensive. The bus stop was handy though if the weather isn't too bad! There aren't many shops or options for food near the hotel.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Clean and very comfortable
7,5 Good
Pros: Good breakfast (quantity and quality). We used this hotel for the first night of our 10 day road trip.
Cons: Location: out of the city, far for everything
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Beautifully stylish, clean and comfortable. Perfect
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly staff and nice bar downstairs. Modern decor.
Cons: Rooms are extremely small. Windows are not very tight in cold weather. Location is not great, about 2 miles from downtown.
4,2 Okay
Pros: The staff who checked us in knew very little about the area, telling us we would have to ride a busy to down town when in actuality it's walkable (w/ a 5 1/2yro) in about 25 minutes. She additionally was no help with bus fair, stops, or routes. We adventured and found our way fairly easily. There is no pool on site, the one they mention is across the highway and down a side street but heated and great for families. The breakfast was mediocre, luke warm food and not many choices. our room faces the parking lot/highway and had windows so dirty it was difficult to see out of them. The room was extremely hot, even after turning the heat off and the noise from outside (cars & people walking to and from partying until 4:30 am) kept us up most of the night. Overall this was the worst nights sleep of our trip & the worst accommodations we had.
Cons: The whole experience was less than desirable.
8,2 Excellent
Pros: We had a comfortable room, and the location was a bit far from down town, but it was a great place to stay. There are a variety of restaurants in the two-or-so blocks from the hotel, one is right next door. The best part was one of the desk employees, Arnar. He was super helpful, cheerful, and friendly, but what he really stands out for (IMHO) is how he saved the day when one of us messed up on some reservations. We would have missed the whole thing and lost our money. He made some calls and got us rescheduled and arranged transportation to the event. Whew! I was beyond thankful. He saved the day.
Cons: Wish we would have had a room with a view.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: 20-40 min walk from most attractions. Great proximity to soccer stadium.
Cons: No gym.
6,5 Good
Pros: Nice enough décor
Cons: Small rooms, limited amenities, somewhat close to downtown, at least 25 minute walk.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: -Buffet breakfast included was delicious. -The swimming center close by is a must for families! -Rooms were clean, and compact. -Allowed us to check-in at 8am!!
Cons: -Distance from city center; We had a car rented, so not an issue. -Allowed us to check-in at 8am!! Received a smaller room than booked, but appreciative of the convenience of unloading all our bags immediately.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location Helpful staff Lovely breakfast
Cons: Room door key was abit dodgey but I suspect it’s a one off
6,7 Good
Pros: Art around the hotel, good breakfast, friendly staff
Cons: Poorly maintained for example lightbulbs requires changing , dusty, small rooms. Very bad sound insulation, you can hear every footfall outside on the street, even though it is a relatively quiet street.
9,4 Excellent
Pros: Location was easy walking distance to many shops and restaurants. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Cons: They say that they provide a hot breakfast, but I found that this really meant just buffet style eggs and bacon. Everything else was more of a continental breakfast style.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Very good staff, clean and comfortable, splurge restaurant. Arranged several details including transfers and day trips via the staff. Quick walk to old town in both directions - reflecting pool or Hallgrimskirka. Solid.
Cons: Not cheap, rooms are not large, but that's not their fault.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Nice hotel located in downtown, not modern but got a nice old world feel to it, short walks to the shops and sights. Upgraded to a junior suite as it was for my 60th birthday. Breakfast was very good.
Cons: Restaurant wasn't available a couple of nights, would have been nice to have been able to use it especially when out on day long excursions.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Quiet location, but 10 min walk to everything. Breakfast buffet (hot) included. Absolutely best staff attentive, accommodating, engaging. Houses one of the finer restaurants in the city plus a nice bar downstairs. Tea and coffee and mini bar in the room. Would absolutely stay again.
Cons: Single rooms on the top floor are drafty because of the balcony doors.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect hotel, excellent breakfast, very comfortable bed, bath amenities etc. Very close to central street and other things.
Cons: Elevator looks a little bit outdated but it doesn't matter
9,2 Excellent
Pros: This is a lovely, old-fashioned boutique hotel. It's on a quiet street a short walk from restaurants, museums, etc. The Soley and Eco products were a nice touch, as was the artwork throughout the hotel.
Cons: It's a bit formal, which could feel stodgy if that's not your thing. But you'll be made to feel welcome in any case.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Amazing staff, decor and history of the place, accommodated a very early arrival, and requests. Love the amazing artwork found throughout.
Cons: No temperature control in room. Conditioner bottle and soap bottle didn’t work and was not replaced at housekeeping. Room was made as a double and was booked as a twin.
