Cons: We would have preferred to know that the art museum was not available before we came.
7,9 Good
Pros: VERY LOVELY ROOM!!!!! we love our room and we have snapped a lot of photos for our memory in the room. The bedroom is also well equipped with everything, from the preparation of the room to the friendliness of the staffs, everything was great!
Cons: Hotel room price was very high for that location and it is far from the city centre.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything. Location, cleanliness, facilities, good communications, good wifi, carefully thought out decor, warm atmosphere, value, you name it.
Cons: The only thing was the strong bread smell wifting upstairs from the Boulangerie. But it was really minor, a slightly open window fixed that and all the rest was ample compensation.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: The apartment was situated in a quieter area of Bordeaux and just a short walk from the nearest car park. There were a few local restaurants nearby. The Cité du Vin and other main attractions were was just a leisurely stroll away.
Cons: We didn’t mind but I could mention the apartment is on the third floor with no lift and the stairs were stone and little steep.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The location was great, the room was very clean and well appointed. This was exactly the stay I was looking for - charming, stylish, clean and right in the center with walking distance to all key cultural attractions. I liked the balcony and a view from windows. Convenience of restaurants downstairs, great bakery, many coffee shops in the morning, everything is right there for a perfect start of the day. The host was very friendly and helpful. You do not need a car to get around Bordeaux.
Cons: Car parking was additional $19 per day and a bit complicated in a multi-story parking couple blocks away. The smell of a bakery directly downstairs was rather strong at times, especially early in the morning. We ended up opening windows to let the fresh air in and it worked out fine for us. The bakery was great though, so I am not complaining, but I could see how some may be bothered by it.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We’ve stayed at CHEZ DUPONT before and consider the location superb. Wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Bordeaux
Cons: Nothing frankly.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: It was a fabulous place, so close to walk to downtown, comfy bed, very, very clean and the Welcome Master of the House was extremely courteous, helpful, and punctual ! We'd go back in a heartbeat! This place as well as Bordeaux is "Hidden Gem" - off the usual tourist route -- but fabulous in any kind of weather!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Absolutely charming place, comfy bed, lovely helpful owner. Thank you Pierre. I would recommend this place to anyone.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Location was amazing. Walking distance to everything but also so many public transport options within 100 m. Easy to access from airport with public transport (bus 1 followed by bus 4 or 15) Clear access instructions so I could get in even when no one was working at the property. Spacious room with fridge and some snacks and refreshments provided.

Pros: I booked this place for my parents; they cannot stop raving about it. They described it as one of the best places they have stayed at (and they are well-traveled)! They loved the layout of the room as well as the breakfast, and found the staff outstanding. They mentioned being so well taken care of. They were very sad to leave, and hope to be back one day. This also means I will be definitely booking there if ever I am in Bordeaux!
Cons: Nothing! They loved absolutely everything about their stay!

8,8 Excellent
Pros: Lovely room, great bathroom and huge comfy bed. Friendly helpful staff and nice to have breakfast in room. Good location 30 minute walk from centre or 10 minute tram from right outside.
Cons: Breakfast was okay, bar wasn't great - inside main restaurant with no proper bar tenders which was a bit disappointing as hoped for nice cocktails.
6,0 Good
Pros: The bed was comfortable and the room was clean but we were not told that this is a training facility for hospitality students. With that in mind you might expect higher than average service? No, just swarms of students in front of the building and rushing down hallways to make classes, posters on walls and doors re: curriculum and advertising careers. Although the staff at reception were polite and accommodating, It was an unexpected experience.
Cons: The hotel is not in a pretty part of the town. Next time we will opt for closer to the Villiage center, within walking distance to the better restaurants, the fountains and markets.
5,0 Okay
Pros: Breakfast was awful. And they asked me to pay for it as well (which i refused) on top of a very heavy nightly rate
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable modern hotel with excellent facilities. Very good location.

Positives focus on reception staff-very courteous, most helpful with restaurant bookings, taxis etc. if looking for clean, moderately priced hotel for basic functional needs in the core of this beautiful 18th and 19th century city, you can't go wrong.

R2 572+
Overview Reviews
At the Best Western Grand Hotel Francais, quiet and comfortable fully-renovated 18th century mansion, you will enjoy the heart of Bordeaux, registered at the world heritage by UNESCO, its business center and cultural life. Our location is superb. We are in heart of city between Cathedral Saint André, Gambetta Square and Grand Theatre, near to walking street Porte-Dijeaux and Ste-Catherine, and tramway stop "Gambetta".
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Within walking distance to everything, great breakfast selection, very comfortable rooms, friendly staff
7,1 Good
Pros: Centre Ville locatioin was ideal for our purposes: handy to cultural attractions, restaurants, tram, etc. The ground floor facilities are attractive. Excellent breakfast buffet (but with awful folding chairs at the tables). Staff not very gracious, but helpful with train bookings, etc.
Cons: The rooms may be eco-friendly, but they are not very attractive or user-friendly (e.g. no drawers or shelves on bedside tables; clumsy barrier between bed & bathrooms. The main drawback was a late evening fire alarm that required us to hang out in the lobby for 75 minutes -- with no apology -- much less a free glass of wine -- from the staff.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: The Best Western Grand Hotel Francais is in a choice location. In each direction are options for the tram and pleasant squares/places with many choices of cafes and restaurants. The tram access was especially valuable and so easy to use with a pass.
Cons: The opaque doors of the bathroom are attractive but create a lighted box at night when one uses the toilet. Not a lot of privacy, either.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Everything. Location was perfect. Our stay here was lovely. Room was modern and very comfortable and bathroom was also modern and well appointed. Breakfast was a full buffet and excellent. I would stay here again and recommended to friends!
Cons: Nothing.

Pros: The service as very good - extremely friendly and helpful.
6,0 Good
Pros: Great location and exceptionally friendly staff. The common areas were lovely.
Cons: The room was a bit stark for the price when compared to the five star hotel In Bordeaux where I stayed much less expensively at the end of my trip. I was surprised by the value discrepancy. The comfort issue that could be easily improved is to offer several types of pillows rather than only the firm foam that was in my room. That said, I felt that my room was very clean and the mattress and linens were quite comfortable.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: So helpful and friendly staff. Amazing comfortable bed! Great location for sight seeing shopping and just having a wonder.

9,0 Excellent
Pros: The location was amazing. The room was very well designed and the cleanliness extraordinary. Very quiet all the time. just made at our taste.
Cons: the room was a little bit small. we knew it before we ordered but of course it ' s always a bit difficult to manage in a relatively small room.
7,7 Good
Cons: The full breakfast for 17E was a glamorous continental breakfast, no hot food. We couldn’t get or buy just a croissant, but pastries and croissants were offered later for free. No ice available. No bar or lounge, just the small room they call a lounge/bar which is used for breakfast. Rooms are very small. We got the larger comfort room and it was small. No where to store clothes. We lived out of our suitcase for 3 days. No upgrade offered because we didn’t book through their website

Pros: Beautiful hotel a 100m from place de l'Opéra and the main shopping street, and the Garonne river. Public underground parking in front of the hotel with special pricing arrangement for hotel guests. Very friendly and helpful reception staff albeit not very fast. We had beautiful, quiet, but rather small rooms next to the elevator. Large choice on the breakfast buffet. Excellent is the option to pay less for a limited choice buffet.
Cons: Our rooms were a bit small with a narrow (1m40) bed. Minibar prices as usual exaggerated. Reception takes its time for each guest so be prepared to wait a bit if you're next in line.

Cons: Rooms on the small side

2,0 Mediocre
Pros: Breakfast was too expensive!!!!!!!!!!!
Cons: This hotel is in dire need of an upgrade!!!! The floors are uneven; the shower does not drain; the fixtures are ancient, etc., etc. The room size is great. The location is excellent (very near the cathedral). EVERYTHING ELSE SUCKS!! For what they charge (300 euros/night!), it's a total disgrace. At least, replace that piece of dirty old rug in the elevator!
6,3 Good
Pros: Well located. Good breakfast. Friendly staff.
Cons: Really disappointed in this property. Our two bedroom suite was uncomfortable and stuffy. One air conditioning unit in a corridor between the bedrooms leaked furiously and did little to provide ventilation.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: We liked the location and the staff was very friendly and helpful. They took the initiative to acquaint us with the parking garage and the hotel had a significant discount. The breakfast was delicious, The location was great. The price of the hotel was high for what it was relative to others that we stayed at.
Cons: The breakfast room was small and as a result with a big party at the next table, we felt a little overwhelmed with their conversation.

Cons: You need to ensure you have code to access door from street before you arrive. The property had apparently emailed me but I never received the email. Pros: Very new bed and breakfast, nice furniture, quiet area, close to the center, very clean
Cons: They have three rooms, two of which are very nice. We unfortunately had the third room in the basement without a real window. I think this should be clearly indicated in the booking process.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Just back from a couple of days in Bordeaux The L'Echoppe des Bouilles is a truly lovely B&B to stay.Host Aurore went that extra mile to make our stay a memorable one. The room was spacious,( we had the sky room, it was lovely to see the stars at night ) The king size bed was really comfy. The breakfast was excellent with homemade yogurts / jams and cakes, and sets you up for the day. The centre of Bordeaux was about a 15 minute stroll away or if you preferred to take the tram,it is a couple of minutes walk away from the B&B to the tram stop. Pros: Stephan was an excellent host. He offered very helpful information and recommendations allowing us to get the most from our visit to Bordeaux. He provided delicious home cooked breakfasts including homemade cakes and jams. Very comfortable bed, air conditioning was great, the house was immaculately clean and tidy, close to the tram and also walking distance to the city centre. Would highly recommend staying at this lovely bed and breakfast.
Cons: Everything was great!
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Located in a quiet residential neighbourhood, 5-minute walk to public transportation/tram. Comfortable and nicely decorated rooms. A small patio/garden area is also enjoyable for the included breakfast or relaxing when the weather is nice. The owners are wonderful and live nearby - we had to leave extra early on our final morning and they had breakfast already set out for us. If you will have a car, you should ask for off-street parking when you reserve your room (it is limited).
Cons: Nearby parking is expensive. Free parking is about 5 minutes away and harder to come by. The owners do have limited off-street parking that may be available and should be reserved ahead. Also, as most everyone takes the tram or has a car, there are few corner markets or restaurants in the area and may not be open on weekends.

Pros: Very friendly staff and willing to help you. Very clean and comfortable rooms. The breakfast was very 'rich'. Very good location, close to the tram stop and the central roads. Extra: We had a very early morning train so we had to check out at 5 a.m. , they arrange a taxi for us and they gave us breakfast 'on-the-go', since we couldn't have the breakfast at the hotel.

Pros: Good location close to the centre (15 minutes on foot). Very comfortable room for 4 with our grandchildren. Nice and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast available from 7 to 12!
Cons: Everything was fine
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The room was very clean and confortable, the location is also good, as it is only a 10 minutes walk to downtown. Staff on reception desk little bit slowly :(
7,5 Good
Cons: The room we stayed was very dark and the air conditioner doesn’t work in november. The room was very stuffy and warm, so we had to open the windows. But the hotel is located in a very busy road, so it was very noise!! It is also around 20 minutes walking to the city centre.

Pros: location was great, staff was friendly and helpful. I did not try the breakfast.
Cons: I recall the website saying there was a fitness room but there was not. Also, might be nice to have a small fridge in the room to store bought food.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Friendly reception staff, great breakfast, convenient to tram or to walk into the center.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Hotel location with Tram line 'C' stop outside - perfect for visitors.
Cons: This hotel is about 600 metres from Gare St.Jean which is the terminus for the 30'shuttle from the airport (€14 return). The tram line 'C' stop is right outside hotel (€5 / 24hrs rechargeable). The rooms are well soundproofed and buffet breakfast is very good .Dinner option is available Mon-Fri and is a good option in poor weather. Staff are multilingual and very helpful. The USP for this hotel is it's location - perfect to visit all the main attractions of Bordeaux.

5,4 Okay
Pros: Central location and very good staff.
Cons: Rooms very warm and thermostats not great. Getting into bath to use shower difficult unless you are over 6ft as high bath. Bathrooms in need of renovation.
8,2 Excellent
Cons: Overall a nice stay at this ibis in Bordeaux, however we asked to be moved to a different room on the second day as the first one was too hot to sleep (around 26 degrees C). The staff told us that the air conditioning is set by the hotel and is currently on “warm” only (I guess given the season). However the second room was much more pleasant in terms of temperature.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Spacious room, nice interior based on Ibis standard similar to elsewhere.
Cons: Lack of electric kettle, for 3-star hotel would be nice to have one. Breakfast a bit too pricey- but found nice alternatives in the city centre.
5,0 Okay
Pros: It was really well located, very close to the city centre and just 2 minutes walk from the bus stop to the airport. It is also close to a tram stop. Staff was nice.
Cons: In one of our rooms the rug was soaking wet, we complained and we got a room change. A towel for the hands would have been appreciated. We were not able to store our luggage after checking out because they didn't have a room because of construction work, the only alternative offered was paying for late check out in one of the rooms.
7,0 Good
Pros: Clean and quiet
Cons: Being charged €9.50 for a small bit of lettuce and carrot to accompany my main meal. So I paid for one extra meal wasn't happy about that!
5,0 Okay
Pros: The shower was good
Cons: I booked into this hotel at 6pm and the price displayed was €70 per night When o checked out in the morning they charged me €112 I asked why and they just said the reduced price was special Yes special.allright The food was deplorable and the staff were very discourtious
7,9 Good
Pros: Near to the center and 25 minutes until the airport by car. Supermarkets nearby and shoppings
Cons: The bed was very very uncomfortable and there weren’t towels for hands. The breakfast didn’t have much choice and they didn’t replace the food fast enough.
