Cons: The lunch was not terrible and food in general could be better, except the breakfast

Pros: Amazing location and chalets. James our guide was very knowledgable and helped make the experience feel unique and personal. The food is original and excellent quality.
Pros: Nice cool vibe from the moment we met the giraffes welcoming us on the road when we arrived until the day we left. Never trust the satnav it got us into huge problems- follow their instructions and have a great time!
Pros: What an incredible stay! The staff were so welcoming and friendly and our guide Jian was fantastic! We didn’t want to leave! We will most definitely be back!
Pros: Amazing. A beautiful lodge, rooms stunning - especially the plunge pools, excellent game drives and wonderful staff. Totally worth the visit and the money. We would return in a second. Loved every minute. One night is not enough, stay for 2 or 3. Special thanks to James our guide.

Cons: If I had to be hyper critical, on the full board option, better quality drinks should be included.
Pros: The grounds were beautiful, staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, food was excellent.
Cons: Quite expensive. Did not have a bath tub as advertised and we had problems with the hot water.
Pros: The staff were amazing ! The Villa is run by Lucas who is fabulous, accommodating and friendly. The Chefs were so obliging and the food was excellent!
Cons: The Villa needs a little updating .
Pros: The proximity to wild life, the experience of the guides and the fact they went out of their way to show us their magnificient wildlife, the attentivenessof the staff in general.
Cons: There was nothing to dislike

The rooms are very nice and comfortable . and the breakfast is really a very good meal.

Cons: No woter..
Pros: The place is beautiful and the hosts and staff are very friendly and accommodating. We really enjoyed our stay.
Pros: Nice acccommodation in Hluhluwe. We booked this room the night before we went to the NP (it takes abot 15minutes to get there). Room was a little bit dark.
Pros: Yes very happy with the accommodation and location to the Hluhluwe game park. Will go back in future.
Zululand Safari Lodge offers traditional, African accommodation with panoramic views of the valley and hills of Ubizane Wildlife Reserve. Central Hluhluwe is 7.5 km away. The air-conditioned rooms are contained in thatched houses. Each has its own private patio and a well-equipped kitchen. The Safari Lodge offers guided walks through the wildlife reserve, as well as game drives. Guests can also relax by the outdoor pool and children can have fun at the playground. Traditional meals are enjoyed around the campfire and there is also a restaurant for indoor dining. The hotel’s bar offers refreshing drinks and light snacks. Private parking is offered free of charge on site.
Pros: Did not have any meals due to them being to expensive for locals
Pros: Very nice place. The home is big, clean, well decorated, cosy and quiet with animals all around. The welcome is very friendly. Restaurant is very good.
Pros: Great base to visit Hluhuwe park - just 10 miles away. Rooms & Food all OK. Fuel available other side of N2 They have their own park with plenty of (non-big 5) animals. As soon as you drive in the gate there are Zebra, antelope etc and you can walk from the gate to the lodge to get up close.
Cons: This is not a mark against Zululand Lodge - just a note. Driving on the N2 at night. We went to Imfolozi on the second day and 6pm exit meant driving back on the main road (N2) at night which was probably the scariest drive I have done - very dangerous (no lighting, cars parked on the side, people walking on the side, people overtaking trucks when not clear....) - fine in the day-time. Would recommend staying nearer to Imfolozi gate for that park.
Pros: Location was great & wonderful to have all the antelope & other animals wondering around so close to our bungalow. Well set up for families with a nice pool & play area & the staff made a real effort to start dinner a bit earlier at 6.30 so we could feed our boys as they are only 5 years old.
Cons: Nothing - we had a great stay.
Pros: lovely place. very well situated, close to the park and ideal for exploring the region.
Cons: no water at the table with the included dinner. a bit expensive
Pros: House/room was big. Kitchen complete. Near to gate to nationalparn zuzlanz/imfolozi
Cons: WLAN didn't work, meals are very simple, 2 of 3 has problems wirh the stomac. House and interior very old. For meals you have to use the car (was not described)
When you stay at WE Bushcamp & Horse Safaris in Hluhluwe, you'll be steps from False Bay Park. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, luggage storage, and laundry facilities. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: We stayed at the beautifully and cosily furnished Madala's cottage which is located in the open space a little bit away from the main complex and we truly loved it! We were visited by the roaming friendly horses (felt like Pippi Longstocking) and impalas, and the atmosphere around dawn with a fire lit was everything we wished for. The staff is very kind. We also did the 2-hr horse safari into the bordering nature reserve and really enjoyed it (our kids in particular). One of our best accomodation experiences on our 3 week trip so far.
Pros: We loved the size of the camp (not too big) and it had so many beautiful touches to it - even down to the ingenius blue rocks tied with red rope that guided our bush walk. Beautiful place, really lovely staff, super relaxing, allowing for a really intimate connection with nature. My husband loved the bar and the birdlife was fantastic too. Also great having horses on the property although we didnt ride this time.
Pros: Everything and the easy life. We have enjoyed this place and the owners, the horse safari, the bar and to be “fare away” from the civilisation.
Pros: Beds upstairs were for kids but we specifically stated is for adults only
Cons: Single beds upstairs in the family apartment
Cons: The whole place needs to be revamped, especially the rooms. It’s very quiet, no activities to entertain the guests during the evenings.
Pros: We liked our stay at We bushcamp and horse safaris. The room was clean and well furnished. The bed was comfortable and got a mosquito net around it which might be useful. The people who were working there were very friendly and helped with whatever we needed. Wifi also worked really well. The horses were lovely and didnt do anything bad to us. We recommend a stay at this accommodation.
Pros: Nice place to relax and enjoy nature. Friendly hosts and staff. Our children loved the horses. Breakfast was good but a bit expensive in comparison to other accomodations.
Cons: Had to drive a long dirt road to get to the accomodation. I recomend 4x4 type of car ;-)
Pros: Rustic easy going venue. Chances are you will meet interesting people here. Staff where very friendly and ready to help with anything. Very low cost.
Cons: A lot of little things feel as if it could be a bit better. Plumbing was not all working, Layout and design of the units dont provide much privacy. The line between rustic and neglected seems to be crossed here and there.
With a stay at Gooderson Bushlands Game Lodge in Hluhluwe, you'll be in a national park, and 14.2 mi (22.8 km) from iSimangaliso Wetland Park and 16.5 mi (26.5 km) from Hluhluwe–Imfolozi Park. Featured amenities include dry cleaning/laundry services, laundry facilities, and a safe deposit box at the front desk. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Very Friendly staff in the dining area and reception on 11 October they went out of their way to be helpful.
Cons: They lock the gates at 7pm and provide a number for guests arriving late to call to enable entry. Both that number and one listed as an after hours number was not answered and I waited at the gate for 25 minutes in the dark in the bush. They need to be reliable and have a good system of welcoming guests who will arrive after 7pm. On entry eventually, there was nobody in sight so I found myself lost driving around the property for another 25 minutes before finding the reception, which turned out to be locked! Reception of guests after hours needs to improve. There were no rangers or security guards at the gate to provide assistance.
Pros: Not much
Cons: Not value for money in the day and age of air bnb and no redeeming physical features, no atmosphere and the bush needs rehabilitation - it just feels run down and neglected
Pros: Loved the layout of no 7 Nyala lodge. It was comfortable, and plenty of space.Perfect for families with little ones! Enjoyed the buck, giraffe and birding. Will definitely return, and recommend Bushlands.
Cons: -There were 2 cigarette butts and a packet on the verandah, and lemon wedges outside on the grass., which we cleaned up. Could not find a switch to switch off the(timed) verandah lights at bedtime. Waste of electricity and bothered my sleep a bit, even with the block out curtains. The position of the lodge is very close to the gate and in the light of recent incidents, I felt a bit wary sitting out at night. Sadly that is the state of the country at the moment....
Pros: Dinner was fantastic and staff were excellent.
Cons: Rooms need tlc especially the shower tiles on the floor.
Pros: Location and also the land the lodge is on are really nice. They have Zebras, Giraffes, Nyalas, Impalas and Wildbeasts on property. The viewing deck is a nice place to relax at. Cleanliness was top. Honestly the lodge would have the potential of being a 8.5 - 9.0 lodge if above mentioned things would improve. Game drive was really good!
Cons: Staff quality was really depending on department . Guides and restaurants staff where really nice but reception and bar seemed uninterested and a bit clueless what they where doing. The whole property is focused on bus groups. The lodge seems to have a capacity or roughly 60 pax. So if there is a bus group it is packed if there isn't it is dead. Gooderson (the company running the lodge) also started as a tour operator which then started to build lodges to accommodate their tours and that's exactly how it feels like where the focus of the company lies. Fast in at evenings --> cheap buffet dinner --> sleep --> early morning breakfast --> check out. During the day there is nothing going on and the staff doesn't seem to care. Bar is opened but the barkeeper is only watching TV all day. No food available all day. Rooms are a bit outdated. People tend to play loud music during the evenings and nobody of the staff cared. That leads to the fact that animals hid in the last corners of the property.
When you stay at Gooderson Dumazulu Lodge & Traditional Village in Hluhluwe, you'll be in a national park and within a 5-minute drive of Emdoneni Cat Rehabilitation Centre. Featured amenities include multilingual staff and luggage storage. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: Nice concept. Friendly staff
Cons: Facilities in need of attention. Croc ponds dirty, giftshop looks old and dingy. Pool needs attention
Pros: Bed comfortable.spacios bathroom.kitchen
Cons: That you dont have wi fi
Pros: Very peaceful and clean Friendly and polite staff
Cons: 10km of very rough gravel road to get to the resort No convenience store nearby The thought of driving the gravel road to purchase necessities made me think twice
Pros: Very nice facilities, especially for the children. Nice braai area and play area. Clean pool, although it's much smaller than it appears on the website. The rondavels are quite far from the parking, so quite a schlepp moving your baggage to and fro.
Cons: Staff were very surly and unhelpful. The little shop at the reception was very badly under-stocked.
Pros: The manager and wife has been extraordinary. Our car was broken down at 8:30 pm in the middle of nowhere (R618 close to Mfolosi game reserve gate) on a Sunday. Him and his wife rescue us at 10 pm. Amazing people. Will never forget what have they done for us. Definitely coming back to visit.
Pros: The cleaning stuff were very kind and helpful.
Cons: 1. Reception stuff were not friendly nor willing to assist. 2. The parking is too far from the rooms 3. The refrigerator was broken leading to meat going off. 4. Electricity kept in tripping, no instructions on where the main switch is. 5. Toilets were appallingly dirty, and not going back to the original position after flushing resulting in a lot of noise. 6. Reception stuff does not inform of surrounding activities like. game drive etc etc. 7. Restaurant food is just up to standard. Food is tasteless but the staff is absolutely superb. 8. After being moved to another room, the bedroom lights was not there- in actually fact completely removed.
Pros: Authentic Zulu experience. Comfort with cultural ambience.
Cons: Our reservation was lost so our room was not ready and we had been driving from the Kruger National Park. We requested two beds in the room and was offered a mattress? I did insist on a bed and a second room was offered.
When you stay at Hlulala Guesthouse in Hluhluwe, you'll be 12 minutes by car from Emdoneni Cat Rehabilitation Centre. Featured amenities include express check-in, dry cleaning/laundry services, and luggage storage. Free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: We liked the fact that the location was very close to the Hluhuwe Safari Park. Each room that we booked had access to key essentials such as aircon/fan/ fridge. The staff were pleasant and accommodating.
Cons: The rooms had many mosquitos which we were able to kill with the bug spray left in each room- however doors could not be opened due to fear of introducing more in. The booking.com online did not allow us to add additional people to the rooms , only once we were there did we realise that one of the rooms could accommodate 3 people so we ended up booking an extra room.
Pros: Everything was super super 5star rating food was like angels food
Pros: The entire area is very lovely and welcoming
Cons: Nothing that i can think of the place is so perfect
Pros: Great location and value for money. Comfy bed and a great hotel across the road for dinner and breakfast.
Cons: Needs a bit of tlc. Bathroom is looking a bit tired!
Pros: The two ladies were super helpful, easy going and very talkative :)
Cons: The bed was uncomfortable and the room very sensitive.
Pros: Perfect site to stay before or after the visit of Hluhluwe park. Close to Memorial gate. And also good if you are going through St lucia. Hosts were really nice. And our lodge was perfect. Clean and comfortable
When you stay at Bushwillow Collection in Hluhluwe, you'll be within a 5-minute drive of False Bay Park. A roundtrip airport shuttle is provided for a surcharge (available 24 hours), and free self parking is available onsite.
Pros: We found Bushwillow on Kayak and were amazed when we arrived; the suite was amazing. We arrived a little late, but the kitchen made us dinner, they greeted us with drinks and a friendly smile.
Would strongly recommend Bushwillow to everyone.
Cons: Lack of signs to find the location; however, they did send us several emails to confirm we had directions.
Pros: The relaxed atmosphere and it was so peaceful. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We really enjoyed our stay and will visit again next year. Beautiful location highly recommended.
