Pros: The hotel was small, yet stylish. The staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful.

Pros: Excellent breakfast and very friendly and helpful owner.

Cons: The room was a little small for two people though adequate the a two night stay

Pros: Easy to find, car park straight outside front door, good value excellent location close to bars restaurants etc but set back in a quiet square.

Pros: Superb location, very friendly family run hotel, crisp, clean, comfortable rooms. A great starting point to enjoy La Rochelle from and we would definitely stay at Un Hotel en Ville again. Highly recommended.

Cons: Due to location parking is limited but public parking in front of the hotel is available. A consideration rather than a problem as we didn't have problems finding a space each day.

Pros: Stayed in this hotel for 3 nights at the beginning of october and had a fantastic time. what a cute little hotel! It's in a perfect location and everything you will want to enjoy on a short city break in la rochelle is literally right around the corner...2minute walk to the vieux port, 20 sec walk to some of la rochelle's best restaurants, 10min walk to place du verdun. room was quite compact but beautifully decorated and a very comfortable bed. the staff were lovely and very welcoming. what I liked most was that everything was immaculately clean, oh and the beautiful rooftop terrace. I would definitely reccommend this wee hotel very highly and encourage anyone going to la rochelle for a short break to stay there!

Cons: I have very little to complain about here. the only thing I didn't enjoy was that our toilet was in a seperate room to the wash basin/shower room and you have to bend down every time you walk into the bedroom because the entrance is very low.(i'm only 5.1" so I just made it)

Pros: We had a lovely stay at Hotel en Ville- will definitely be back-its 2 minutes from the towers- and in a lovely quiet area too- the best of both worlds. It seems a lot of thought was put in to the decor etc- simple but we really liked it.

Cons: Only thing I wasnt keen on was the ensuite- sliding door doesnt give a lot of privacy- but this was only a small thing and otherwise we couldn't fault the hotel

Pros: It was clean , Great location .The Hotel is very tastefully done , modern breakfast was available, the staff were very pleasant .

Cons: The room was to small , no wardrobe , no soap , shower cap or shower gel (although i did ask for a shower gel and got one) , it was noisy .We felt that the room was just to small and for 2 days it was ok but i wouldn`t go for a week or two .

Pros: Just in front of La Rochelle's harbour and towers, calm, well equiped in class and very clean, convenient breakfast in the rooms.

Cons: Centre of La Rochelle is a difficult place to drive, and the parking is well 10 min walking away (not that easy with the luggage).

Pros: From a very warm welcome, tourist info, to a fresh, bright room with a magnificent view across the old port of La Rochelle, this is a lovely hotel. All the rooms have recently been refurbished, the management and afternoon receptionist are charming and helpful. Recommend the hotel very highly indeed.

Pros: The location was perfect and the room was comfortable and very clean.

Cons: Breakfast was not available to us in the room as the table was too small and there were only two chairs for three people. The toilet cubical was too small - unusable by anyone I would imagine over 1,80m and I am 1.80m!

Pros: Fabulous, large, light airy room with stunning view of the Vieux Bassin. Super-comfortable bed. Excellent bathroom with Niagara-like shower! Polite and courteous staff. Daily servicing of room done to perfection.

Cons: Rooms to the streetside somewhat noisy due to the active nightlife. Leaving you two options: either go and party or ask for a room at the back of the hotel. We went for option two which was no problem.

Pros: Although the Hotel is 15mins walk from bus station it is quite central between bus station & train station to allow you to travel throughout the area. It is also not in the centre but close to it & the harbour area. It is quiet but within a short walk to the town centre/marina, restaurant area.

Cons: I think it would be better if the breakfast was included in the price as 10euros is quite steep.

Pros: The close proximity of the hotel to the centre of La Rochelle and it's attractions, restaurants and shopping. We did not need to use the car at all. Breakfast was also better than normal continental fare.

Cons: The aluminium roller shutters were noisy in even the slightest wind and became very noisy unless rolled up, when the windows were open, which was needed because our room was a little air-less.

Pros: Very convenient for all areas of the town. Great to be able to park the car safely in their own car park and walk into town or the port area which were both only about 3 or 4 minutes walk away. The hotel was very comfortable, the facilities (shower products and hairdryer) were better than I had expected.

Cons: The room was a little small and the view was of the car park . Deliveries at 7am woke up my children. Their seemed to be a constant engine noise coming from the building next door .

Underground car park. 15 minute walk to restaurants through local park. Convenient to main roads. Friendly French reception and they spoke English better than my French!

Cons: Reception staff rude, family room was the smallest room we had ever stayed in, stuffy and hot, no airco, it stated that it's 10 minutes to town, yes, 10 minutes by taxi, not on foot. Cold and unwelcoming atmosphere. Nothing nearby, would never stay there again.

Pros: Everything a modern and contemporary hotel should be. The staff were particulary kind and helpful when we had an emergency having to return home early.

Cons: Somewhat impersonal in appearance in the public area. Somewhere to sit outside would have been good. A bit far to walk to the centre of town when eating out in the evening.

Pros: It was a modern clean hotel only five minutes walk from the port and one of my main reasons for choosing it was because it had parking facilities. I found the staff all very helpful and friendly and it was convenient to have free internet access in the lobby, which was always available.

Pros: Great central location. An elegant old building but the rooms didn't have any of the disadvantages you sometimes get in old buildings.

Cons: The very surly woman receptionist, afternoon 15/7, who met us on arrival. Beyond the obligatory 'bonjour' there was not one word of welcome or pleasantness a big black mark. I know it is the french way, no wonder the Irish are considered so friendly but it was a pain in the you know where never the less.

Pros: Excellent location in easy walking distance of everything yet quiet at night, parking available at a small supplement at the hotel, spacious room. Our room overlooked the car park/small garden, and over the harbour beyond, but most rooms overlook the internal courtyward - not so nice.

Pros: Everything was perfect: very helpfull and professional staff, beautiful design, good food. Not very central but ideal to get some rest and very close to the sea.

Pros: The staff were extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful. We were escorted to our room which rarely happens in hotels these days but is a very good idea as the room facilities were explained and instructions were given in how to use the air conditioning.

Cons: This is not so much a complaint as a word of advice - finding the hotel is very difficult. We took the exit for Lagord presuming to find some signposts to the hotel. However, we found no signposts and having driven around in the dark for some time we came across the hotel by accident. Some signs around the area would be most helpful. On leaving we asked for directions to the airport and were told to follow the signs for Ile de Re - however we could not find any such signs and again drove around in the dark until we accidently found our way!

Pros: This hotel only opened in July 2010 and is absolutely first class. The staff are very obliging and the restaurant is superb. The rooms are very modern in design and offer all the amenities you could ever need.

Cons: Only 1 point. The GPS co-ordinates are inaccurate by up to 1km. They need amending or you will be driving around the area for ages !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
