Friendly staff at breakfast buffet and very good breakfast. Room size was good. Probably a good hotel for business people.
We booked this hotel mainly because of it's restaurant which should have allowed us to eat dinner with our 20-month-old daughter without having to leave the hotel. But mid-november the only dining option in the hotel's "Haust Restaurant" was a Christmas-buffet for 9.900 ISK (73€ !) per person, without drinks. On the only day where there was "normal buffet" it still cost 7.900 ISK although if it was advertised everywhere at 6.900 ISK. The other option, the beergarden was not adapted for little children and only offers junk food (hamburgers, fish&chips etc.) at the price for decent food. Room service offers the same food as well, but they add 1.500 ISK as a room service fee. We also ordered a bottle of house wine advertised for 5.500 ISK which was finally charged at 7.400 ISK. We got the feeling that everything was overcharged and they tried to take every penny possible of their customers. Beds were a bit uncomfortable, and during 4 nights our bed sheets were not changed and the Kleenex box not filled up. Location at the border of the city center (we saw many hotels with better locations), but still expensive parking on the roads around the hotel. We would not choose this hotel again.
They had a decent gym which you could use anytime. Breakfast was ok
Firstly before reviewing the room (which if you are thinking about the Tower suite upgrade you might want to take a look at) I want to comment on the customer service. (also note that I gave the Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon top ratings so no bias here) Worst customer service I've experienced in all my travels. Little background, I'm 35 years old and traveled all around the world. In Iceland for my honeymoon and it was my last few nights of the trip. Had to alter my booking as there was a change due to weather and would not be able to make it back in time. Called 2 days earlier only to get a rude response from the hotel staff. (It felt she was trying to make it difficult) There were plenty of rooms available as it was off peak so continued with the booking, even extending duration and opted to upgrade to the Tower suite as our stayed in the FossHotel Glacier Lagoon only days before was exceptional. Got charged 50 euros to make the amendment and did not get a confirmation email in response. When I arrived the same staff member served me and claimed I didn't send the details. When I asked her to check again she said it was there but didn't acknowledge her mistake. A lot of attitude from the staff member and felt like all she cared about was getting as much money off us as possible. Now the room. Upgraded to the tower suite. was excited because our room was a corner suite on the 15th floor (view was great in the hallway windows.) Turned out it wasn't a corner suite just a regular room (which was fine) Things wrong with the room - TV is halfway in the hallway and the bedroom lol. You can still watch it but from a certain angle. - Shower was bad. Tiny with no pressure and didn't feel clean. - The door to the bathroom would not close properly unless you slammed it shut and when it did open it would scrap along the tiles when opened half way. - Automatic curtains didn't work but in truth now I'm just nit picking. Hope this review helped!
Excellent staff, everyone at the front desk is the BEST! Warm, professional, efficient, Soo Helpful, with great suggestions and assistance for everything from tours, places.to.eat, directions, coordinating tours and helping everything to run on time and smoothly, they go fiar above and beyond! Thank you Barbara, Amelia & Patrice for helping making our stay in Iceland exceptional, again!
The bar was very nice, very comfortable.
£44 for a glorified buffet, waste of money. I am glad I didn’t waste my money on paying extra for breakfast. Much nicer places outside the hotel.
Great location, really friendly and helpful staff would highly recommend this hotel
