Pros: On the morning of my arrival day, I received a phone call from Louise asking if I would be willing to stay at Low Urpeth Farm ( her mother in law’s B&B ) due to the room at Riding Farm that I was to have not now being available. ( due to a bereavement) I readily agreed and SO I STAYED AT LOW URPETH FARM for the 3 nights. Please note that ALL THE ABOVE FEEDBACK APPLIES TO HILARY JOHNSON AT LOW URPETH FARM. I did not stay at Riding Farm so am UNABLE TO COMMENT ON IT IN ANY WAY.

Pros: we booked the same day we were staying, and got a good price.
Cons: we've stayed a matfen hall many times and it is always a great place to stay.
7,0 Good
Pros: The Hotel was nice and set in lovely grounds. Stunning views when the weather was nice.
Cons: There was nothing to do round about the Hotel. The Village was pretty but the one pub available has closed down. There was a lack of choice for eating in the Hotel as the main restaurant was fully booked both nights and the Golf Club was booked for a private function the 2nd night. This only left the conservatory which was just okay. The pool area was very busy with lots of children and only one lane for swimmers roped off. All chairs and loungers had towels and/or robes on them preventing us using them.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: This was a fabulous location the staff are amazing we felt totally relaxed and pampered, also the food was outstanding ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Cons: Couldn’t get a phone signal but this wouldn’t stop us going back
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The staff were amazing. Always smiley and friendly, they really made the stay special.
Cons: Breakfast. Breakfast sausages 'bland' Am sure local butcher could provide something more exciting. Eggs Florentine eggs undercooked (see through whites) and pastries a little tired the first two mornings.
Jesmond Dene House - Newcastle upon Tyne - Building
5
9,2 Excellent (957 reviews)
R2 278+
Overview Reviews
Jesmond Dene House is a small, 4 AA red star privately-owned boutique-style hotel with 40 bedrooms that sits nestled within the wooded valley of Jesmond Dene. A country hotel setting yet only minutes from the suburb of Jesmond or bustle of Newcastle city centre and the quayside. The original house was Georgian, designed for a local doctor in 1822 by John Dobson who was responsible for many of Newcastles handsome streets. It was then developed in the late 19th century for Sir Andrew Noble, business partner to Lord Armstrong, the great Victorian inventor and engineer. The Grade II-Listed Arts and Crafts mansion was extended and enhanced until it was bought by Newcastle City Council in 1933. For the next 65 years, it had various uses, including being used as a college, Civil Defence establishment, seminary, and as a residential school. The building was in a very bad derelict state when it was bought, restored and then opened as a hotel in 2005. In addition to the bedrooms there is a 3 AA Rosette restaurant offering a selection of daily menu options ranging from breakfast and afternoon tea to A la carte dinner or Sunday lunch. Functions, weddings and business events can also be accommodated in a choice of four private rooms including the Great Hall, a spectacular, double-height room catering for up to 100 guests and with oak and silk wall panelling, Gothic windows, carved inglenook fireplace and minstrels gallery. The aim of the hotel, since opening, is to provide the highest levels of service, hospitality and food for both business and leisure guests, using local produce and suppliers where possible.

Pros: Very, very helpful and friendly staff and the meals were top class and full of flavour. A skill a lot of 'chefs' lack. I Really can't stress how good the meals were. Wine and drinks selection was again, top class. Good selection at breakfast if you're not full from your evening meal.
Cons: The open plan bathroom and limited lighting in the 'Pine' room plus the long winded route to get there. If you need to shave, take a torch. Coffee was not to our liking as it was a bit bitter. Not your italian standard.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Spotlessly clean and elegant. The service was top notch - attentive and efficient. This hotel is in a lovely peaceful setting and I think it was a wonderful place to stay.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff. Good food. Nice location even though we had to go through an industrial estate to get there. Once there it was a nice place with mature trees and a nice garden.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Luxury accommodation with lots of room, excellent lighting and under floor heating in the bathroom.
Cons: The hotel reception was slightly difficult to find and was basically the cash register in the golf shop.
6,7 Good
Pros: Decor was nice
Cons: We booked a room for our wedding night and it was a very underwhelming. We asked for a bottle of prosecco for the room which we didn't get. We also asked to pay in advance as we didn't want deal with that on our wedding night but they didn't communicate very well and we had to prove to them that we had indeed paid. Decor was nice but for us the staff could of been a bit more helpful and friendly. We also found a toenail on the bathroom floor which put us off wanting to use the shower
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The food was excellent and the accompanying luxurious and spotlessly clean.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are amazing and not like other reviews we didn't mind the walk between rooms and lounge. The colt course is one of the best I've played. The staff are great from the golf staff to the bar staff to the groundsmen. Everything was fantastic and hopefully we will be back.
Cons: The only thing maybe the breakfast choice not too clear but it was lovely.

Pros: The enormous bedroom/ sitting room room was luxurious.the standalone bath and heated floor tiles was amazing.
Cons: The toiletries were a bit mean for two people.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Spacious comfortable bedroom. Well appointed. Quiet. Lovely views over golf course
Cons: Signs for Reception on arrival quite confusing. Check in is at golf club reception but that’s not made clear. Beautiful accommodation but feels more like an ‘add on’ to the golf club rather than a hotel. Breakfast is in clubhouse a short walk from rooms. Ok on a dry day but not good in rain.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Luxurious rooms in a beautiful settings
Cons: Nothing
7,9 Good
Pros: Bedrooms excellent. Golf course excellent.
Cons: Lack of a separate dining room in the clubhouse for those eating dinner a la carte - the No 19 restaurant is in the bar area. The distance and road gradient from the courtyard bedrooms to the Clubhouse / dining. Not ideal for ladies in high heels.
9,4 Excellent
Pros: Nice situation in middle of golf course, quiet, well kept grounds
Cons: Restaurant ok, but a bit disappointing

Cons: Breakfast could have been better. Good cereal and pastries selection but cooked breakfast was very limited.
7,9 Good
Pros: Room size (in disabled but able bodied)clean tidy with enough drink makings
Cons: Pillows once moved could not decide which was firm or soft. Slept with firm one I now belive ...bit stiff. It's me own fault I should have changedone over at about 5 am when I woke !!
7,5 Good
Pros: The breakfast was excellent and the staff great at refilling and cleaning up after everyone. They were quick to respond to queries. Where it’s situated is great for the Metro Centre too! With restaurants and eateries within walking distance!
Cons: The room was small and wasn’t cleaned to its usual standard! One of the single beds was extremely uncomfortable and dipped in the middle. We asked reception if they could do anything but it wasn’t changed! Someone across the corridor had dogs which barked and whined on till 1/2 am in the morning. We told the reception but it carried on till then which is, I guess, when the owners came in! We had to go and ask for toilet rolls as the cleaners hadn’t topped them up!
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable room
Cons: No biscuits in the room. Waiter was very rude. Our plates were three in front of us and felt like it was a task that she had to ask if we wanted any sauces. Other waitress was very polite and couldn’t do enough for us.

Pros: Location next to airport
Cons: Bed springs noisy when you moved No where to put tray with kettle as I was using the desk to work A duplicate door key was issued and a man came into my room at around 5am in the morning. Pros: Location for me was key , nice quality hotel to test my wife for an enjoyable weekend in Newcastle
Cons: Staff friendly, doorman mark very helpful
6,3 Good
Pros: A stylishly designed hotel in a good location but unfortunately that’s where the positives end.
Cons: Staff were abrupt and unhelpful at both reception and concierge. The answer to any questions we had at reception were, without exception, “you need to ask” another department. While I acknowledge there could be someone else we could ask, surely at a hotel which projects such a high-end image (with prices to boot), it wouldn’t be out of the realms of possibility for reception staff to pick up the phone and help their guests? The valet parking is a nice touch but the gentleman who seemed to be running the operation was, for some reason, quite unpleasant. On asking whether we could leave our car for a few hours at check-out, the keys were quite literally thrust into our faces with a simple “12 o’clock” response. Again, we don’t expect the earth but at a hotel aiming itself at a certain market, it’s very odd that staff feel they can be rude to guests. Wifi in the room was dreadful and constantly showed as having little or no connection. We also enjoyed a lukewarm shower on a cold October morning as, for some reason, the water temperature doesn’t seem to rise above tepid. The cosy Maven restaurant is a nice place to sit with a cup of tea in a morning but save your cash to avoid the poor quality English breakfast. Perhaps they could raise the quality of ingredients by not offering a buffet for the hot food? All in all, this hotel has the potential to be a very special place to stay but is let down by the poor approach of frontline staff and small details like wifi and water temperature. For the same money we’d recommend staying elsewhere in the city.

Pros: Good Morning, My name is Scott Chapman and I have recently stayed at the Holiday Inn at Seaton Burn. During my stay I have found all the staff to be extremely helpful and professional in all aspects of their duties. Nothing has been an issue for staff whilst there, always more than willing to help. I am a Registered Operations Manager for a care company specialising in supporting an caring for individuals with life changing conditions. On the final night of my stay, there was a gentleman who from the outside appeared as been heavily intoxicated, the staff went to this gentleman (I believe the duty manager - I can’t remember her name. Blonde hair, training to be a teacher). It was a pleasure to witness this lady and her colleagues make a genuine assessment and realise this gentleman was and is actually quiet poorly. They attempted to support this gentleman to his room but due to his physical impairment, he struggled greatly. I stepped in to support and physically aided this gentleman to his bedroom. This staff member stayed with me every step of the way offering reassurances to this customer who initially became embarrassed at the need for physical support. By the time we got to his room he had changed from being embarrassed to relaxed and appreciative of the support provided. I think this lady and the young gentleman who stepped in to support also need recognising both from their management but also higher management and also in writing. In life, it is so easy to just “do your job”; it’s amazing to observe individuals like this with a genuine desire for other people, not just as customers or a number. Please can the manager either call me or speak with me at my upcoming stay this week. I was so amazed and appreciative of the staff members support, I would offer them a job in my company without hesitation! Thank you both. Kind Regards Scott Chapman 07958171328
Cons: Baring the rooms being priced high for the area nothing else to write here. Amazing hotel and staff that are worth their weight in gold!
