Cons: The premium king room did not reflect the pictures in bookings.com. There is a large space by the window which had a single chair and this is a room for two. ( picture showed two chairs) Could easily fit a couch. The elevators were freezing. Bathroom counter was very small.

Cons: We were on the 5th floor right behind the elevator and what sounded like we were sleeing directly underneath the restaurant kitchen. We didn’t sleep and we could hear every thing happening upstairs for hrs. It was never ending and so noisy.

Cons: There is a per night hold of $75 for incidentals. I’ve never experienced a resort holding a per night charge for incidentals, maybe a resort fee but not incidentals. It was just bizarre to have an additional $225 on hold. Also there is only valet parking, $35 a day.

Cons: I'm always annoyed by the $27 "amenity fee" which they added after IHG bought the Kimpton chain-- but that's the way it goes. Also, the service in Red Star Tavern, the onsite restaurant, can be painfully slow. (The food is good though!)

The head rest cushion was peeling off ( I didn't complain as it didn't bother me much). Pros: The architecture of the building was simply beautiful. The valet parking was friendly and expedient. The bed was extremely comfortable, the extra sheets fresh and clean smelling. The towels were very thick. The hot water kettle and teas were a nice addition. There was a knock on the door for turn down service. The hallways were deeply carpeted and wide. We never heard hallway traffic noise. The white noise machine came in handy, for the Max below the window (five floors up) and for the very loud in-room, vibrating heating unit in the casement structure between the bedroom and parlor (which sounded off every 15 minutes). The location was good, close to Powells, Nordstrom, and other corporate shopping storefronts, as well as several very highly rated weekend brunch options. It could have been and even nicer stay had not Portland's most iconic food truck block, catty corner to the Sentinel, been removed to make way for a new 5 star hotel. The price was reasonable for PDX, given these amenities, but as you will read below, I feel it was overpriced given the actual 3-star experience due largely to poor maintenance and industrial design. I felt like the hotel was not focused on the user experience from the ergonomics point of view, and was not able to look at people as persons rather than average consumer groups. The devil is in the details and we will not stay with this hotel chain again...and it should not be rated with 4-stars.

Cons: There were so many little things that were not up to par with regard to the maintenance and creature comforts of the room that it became one big thing. Bathroom: -extremely small with a pedestal sink, no towel bars or hooks nearby and a thin mirror ledge shelf not big enough for a small overnight bag. -no exhaust fan, peeling wallpaper, and a shower curtain with a curling iron burn likely for being so close to the single outlet by the sink (close enough for the hair dryer to fall into the bathtub). -The toilet felt lower than standard for hotels and could be difficult for some to lower/raise themselves. -Low water pressure in the shower, the shower head itself and faucet of inferior quality, without alternating spray options. The water temperature was "child safe" and set to a lower level typical for hotels. Bedroom: -the floor-length mirror was on the back side of the bathroom door and inconvenient as it needed to remain open for ventilation and easy access. -curtains did not close completely, despite creative fabric folding, streaming in outside street lighting. High ceilings made it hard to fix. -no dresser for personal items, only built-in drawers in the dark closet which require one to squat or kneel to access. -luggage racks at foot of bed had dark metal frames, the exact color as the carpet, making it difficult to see and navigate in low light and caused banged knees. -one bedside table lamp was a pull-down chain style and the other a twist knob, requiring fiddling in the dark. Parlor: the light switch at the door turned on no lights, even with playing with the settings on the three lamps in the room causing fumbling in the dark to find the switches on the units Reception: No visual review of bill offered prior to customer signature. When asked, "What does the guest amenities fee include?" the response was, “it’s included in the total price,” rather than providing an explanation of what the fee covers.

Our particular room was quite small but well appointed and comfortable. Loved the mix of art throughout and the location was great for walking around. Cons: Uncharacteristically high "amenities" fee. This is relatively quietly ( i.e., small print) added to the cost of lodging. Just list a an all-inclusive price of lodging. The amenities fee looks like an attempt to mislead, or to squeeze a few more bucks out of guests. It is about as welcome as airline baggage fees, or fees for boarding priority. Also, the owner's sordid role in the Trump administration is a powerful disincentive for me to continue to stay there.

If you do want to try out this hotel (which we highly recommend), do it through a different 3rd party site or through the hotel directly to avoid the check in & payment issues we had. Once we were checked in (no thanks to booking.com), we had an exceptional stay and calling the hotel pleasant would be an understatement.

Pros: This was one of the best hotel experiences of my life. I got very sick while in Portland and the front desk took excellent care of me. We were meant to check out on the day I got sick and the reception staff found us a new room (even better than the original one) and then spent the whole day sending up food, drinks and comforts to help me get better. They even sent up Chicken Noodle Soup they had the chef prepare specially. It was a fantastic experience and I cannot recommend the hotel enough. The location and facilities are top notch. Great value.

Pros: A chill vibe and location. The staff were super helpful and pleasant. They have wine and water to purchase in the room. Restaurants and coffee shops in walking distance. We had some good ramen down the street. They have doors painted with chalkboard paint and chalk to write on them! There's a business center, and small art gallery. Live music and/or band next door. Patios are literally right outside your door, which was super convenient. I'd definitely come back!
Cons: There's only $29.00 valet parking or street parking that has enforcements that start at 8 am. I was able to run down and move my car to the front and pay like $2.00 to park until 10:00 am.
I sent my kids into the room before me , and I returned to two pre teen boys asking if they could try on the condoms that are provided as a courtesy in front of my 7yr old. Now I'm fine with that conversation, but I'm still wondering how I'm going to explain that to the bff's mom.
The room is super small. It worked fine for the one night, but I would not have stayed here for an extended time with the three kids I had with me on this trip. If you have chill lowkey older or small children you will be fine, but I had two 12 yr old and a 7 yr old boys, and it just wasn't enough space for ALL of thier energy. Overall it was nice!

Cons: No hand rails off walkway off of NE Burnside, could use a semi closer from rain waiting for cab picks while you wait. Walkway is very steep pitch to down if you have disabilities.

Pros:
Cons: The price was pretty good for Portland, and it’s by in a convenient location. This is one of the loudest places I’ve ever stayed, the noise assaults you from all angles. I would only recommend staying here if you intend to party, otherwise don’t expect a good night’s sleep anytime before 3am.

Pros: The location is amazing - right on Burnside. It's perfect if you're seeing a show nearby and eating Sizzle Pie at 2am. The staff at the lobby in the morning were super helpful. I really appreciated that!
Cons: The Lobby is currently only open a few hours of the day so you have to walk across the street to check in, which wasn't totally clear. Also, warning - there is loud music playing in the patio pretty much until 1am. Other bummer - there was a little snack bar that had toiletries and it felt like they were trying to up sell a lot of things that would be free at most hotels.

Cons: It took 4 tries to get our room keys to work... that’s 4 times to the front desk, 4 times across the hotel and parking lot, 4 times up and down the stairs... I also didn’t like the toiletries. If you can’t afford the decent stuff... don’t offer any.. $13 a day to park in a hotel i am already paying to stay at?? Not cool.. Crappy parking and dangerous parking lot. Breakfast was sub par as was the coffee... and why can’t I bring it back to my room...

Cons: The bathroom was caked in what I think was soap-scum, the room was small and seemingly only accessible by stairs. The description of "downtown" is extremely generous - it is somewhat inconveniently situated, and everything around it closes early.
