Cons: They could do themselves a lot of favors by improving their bedding, especially the pillows. We both had a lousy night's sleep.

Cons: The room was quite small. Even an extra toothpaste was 6 bucks and water was just as expensive. For 5-star service we should expect a few complimentary things.

Cons: The parking is expensive, and works out to be a hidden cost: $26 per day, or $41 if you leave your car overnight.

Cons: $42 for overnight parking was silly overpriced.

Cons: Our room had a slight odor of dogs / animals. This should be somewhat expected in a pet-friendly hotel, and is only really noticeable once you walk in the room. All-in-all, this was a minor gripe and will not deter us from staying here again.

Cons: The parking charge of $36 overnight is usurious; we had to park two cars and when asked if they would comp one of them due to our circumstances, they refused. This will cause me to stay someplace else next time.

Cons: Because I used the door knocker that said I didn't need sheets and towels changed, no one ever came to my room to take the garbage or give us more TP, etc. thankfully there was an extra roll in the room. And one of the valet guys was rude to my uber driver when she came to pick us up. It was uncalled for.

Cons: Room was incredibly small, especially compared to the Marriotts I stay at for business. My room was also next to the elevators so glad I brought my ear plugs.

Cons: Elevators are small and having a stroller made it more difficult to get to our room. The Kitchenette is not really a kitchenette, just a little counter space with a small sink, a coffee maker with not enough coffee for more than 2 people, a small fridge and an outdated microwave. I woke up in the middle of the night clearly hearing the conversation of the next door neighbour, so not soundproof.

Cons: For a 'suite' hotel, the kitchenette amenities were lacking. There is a mini-fridge, microwave and two-cup coffee maker... which are all great, except there are no dishes, no cups (just paper cups for coffee), no utensils and no toaster. Plates and utensils were brought up to the room upon request, but after deliberately seeking out a 'suite' style hotel with a kitchenette (they are hard to find in Portland), this was disappointing. Also, we were given a room around the corner and behind the elevators. I'd read in other reviews that this could be noisy, so I was a little concerned upon check-in. Ultimately, this didn't bother me too much as I'm from a busy city and used to sleeping with some noise - but be forewarned that if you get one of these rooms anywhere near the elevators, they are noisy and almost sound like a subway car passing along the tracks. Not jarring or rattling sounds, but still a hard-to-miss rolling, whooshing sound every time an elevator car goes up or down past your floor.

Cons: that wifi wasn't complimentary, that the shower head wasn't secure and would droop down on its own. no bath tub

Cons: The staff was nice but we was told that breakfast was from 6:30am-10am and we went downstairs about 945am and was told technically breakfast was over at 930. Then our room was cold because we couldn’t get our thermostat to switch from cool to heat.

Cons: My room wasn't totally clean and I didn't like the dirty dishes that were always in the hall.

Cons: The beds were too hard and I woke up with a back ache both mornings. There is only one door between adjoining rooms and you can hear every thing that is said. Which also made us whisper. High school choir were in town and ran up and down hall way knocking on doors . Possibly they could place kids on one floor or wing as not to disturb your other customers.

Cons: I've stayed at embassy Suites before because of the made to order breakfast and the afternoon appetizers and drinks. You should have posted it up front that it was canceled, YOU DON'T

Cons: Parking in the garage was convenient, but we weren't told upon leaving that we still needed our room key to get out. We had to back up and run back into the hotel get abd get a key to leave. Not a huge deal, just wish they would have told us upon checking out.

Cons: Pool was a little colder then I was expecting for everyone wish it was a little warmer. Elevator were so long wait but I guess that what you get when it a historic hotel.

Cons: Having to use Valet parking. Rather a forced choice, because of logistics, then end up in public parking area anyway. Location was horrible. Maybe for some tastes is ok. Rough inner city, area. Not a place for going for walks or taking a young family. Sorry, we love Embassy Suites, but won't return to this one. Again, hotel inside was great. The surroundings not so much.

Cons: I only gave this place three stars because the windows are only single pain which made our room very noisy. Lots of street noise and loud music from the club down the street. We went there to hang out down town but would also appreciate a good night sleep. Also the rate on kayak was the same as I could get just booking direct with the hotel.

Cons: The main negative comment I have is that their elevator is rickety and loud. I guess because we checked in at night, we got stuck with the room next to the elevator and you really can hear it every time it goes up and down. Luckily, we were just so exhausted from our daytime activities, we didn't have the energy to complain. Also, the housekeeping staff was a little intimidating. At around 4pm, we went back to our hotel room to freshen up and noticed that our room had still not been made. No big deal. We saw the housekeeping staff in the hallway and decided to tell them they can skip our room, but we wanted an extra towel and a new garbage bag. When we asked them, the staff member demanded my hotel room number in a harsh tone and when I told her, she then shouted to her co worker in another language some verbiage while pointing at us. They had a conversation, that sounded like an argument to me, for a few minutes while we were standing there waiting for the OK to skip our room and give us a towel. Mind you, they were standing right next to the towel cart conversing in their language while I was standing there confused.

Cons: Hotel Modera continues to only offer valet parking. That's good because there is very little street parking; however, it's not good when the service is overpriced and the valets don't help with getting luggage in/out of the car. In fact, there's no offering to help in any way other than to hand you the valet ticket/keys. The lobby doors are not automatic, so while the valets stand around, you are convenienced to put down your bags, open the door, prop it open with your foot while you grab your bags and make a dash through. We haven't had this problem in the past, but the HVAC in our room was not heating, just blowing cool air. Turning the unit off resulted in the windows whistling due to the negative pressure in the room. The mini fridge stocked with overpriced drinks was also not working. So our room was cold and noisy, and the fridge was warm and quiet. The front desk staff offered to send someone up right away, but since my wife was still asleep and we were checking out in several hours, I declined, but the staff was very sympathetic. The bathroom in our king room was VERY close to the bed, and the sliding door didn't make it much of a 'privy'. I try to keep up with the latest building materials, so maybe the plastic tub liner that shifts up and down under your feet while taking a shower is new and fancy. I don't think we'll be installing one in our home. The hotel's bar/restaurant is unremarkable in all ways and does not stand up to the other great food and drink options in downtown or the east side. Overall, I think we are done with this hotel considering there are so many other options in the area that are better walking distance to good food and drinks.

Cons: Once you get out of the lobby, the floors felt a bit dingy like they needed new carpets. The decor in the hallways felt a bit dated. Nothing particularly bad but just didn't feel quite polished. For the price I expected better.

Cons: If there was anythInfo@VertebrataChiropractic.com I had a problem with, it was that once waited for 15 minutes for my car and when I asked about it, the valet had forgotten about it. He immediately remedied the situation and had the car in 90 seconds, but it would have been nice to have gotten it when it was first asked for. A small oversight, and overall does not take from my five star rating for this property.

Cons: Only complaint about Modera is that it's at the mega-junction of Portland's light rail, trolley and bus lines, so during the daytime (including VERY early in the morning) the street noise is pretty significant. The rooms are well insulated, so it's not deafening, but you can definitely hear it.

Cons: Valet parking $38. No other real options.
