Pros: For any discerning traveler to New Orleans, you'll want to stay in Merigny, a quieter part of town with easy access to Frenchman Street, the French Quarter, and streetcars (or cheap Uber rides) to the rest of the city. Elysian Fields Inn is in the PERFECT location. As for the Inn itself, the couple who run it are the loveliest, most personable, and accommodating people you could ever hope for. The breakfasts were fantastic. The conversation was wonderful. Their recommendations are spot-on. And the Inn is extremely comfortable and well-maintained. It is very clear that the hosts care very much for their property (which is also their home) and their guests.

Pros: Jessica, the inn keeper, was awesome! She helped us figure out some great places to go to and things to see while there. The Inn itself is just a few blocks from Frenchmen Str and Bourbon Str. We did not need to use the car the whole time we were there (although we do like to walk). The breakfast was one of the best ever served. 100% recommend this place for some R&R. WiFi was excellent. There was no TV and I was TOTALLY ok with that part.

Pros: The house was huge and charming. the staff was so amazing that we even went to eat at the establishment one of them bartends at! The rooms had 16-foot ceilings. the hallways were 5 feet wide. the library was heavenly. We also discovered a wonderful new neighborhood!!

Cons: The neighborhood looks kinda unsafe, but after talking with people, we found it to be not dangerous at all. We walked everywhere we went with no trouble.

Pros: Everything! When we got there we could not get in, but within 3min the owners came strolling up the sidewalk and cheerily welcomed us to their home. We were offered water or beer and finished our check-in and all the places were were curious about were annotated on a map for us, which proved invaluable all weekend! We were then shown to our room, walking through the charming house to the back. Our room had its own entrance to the back patio (sadly too warm to use the spa!) and was clean as a whistle. The space was typical of this type of house, smaller floor space with HUGE ceilings. There were shelves with brochures and pamphlets if you were looking for information or something to do, and water/beer available for a minimal fee in a shared fridge. We didn't partake in the full breakfast because we had brunch reservations both days we were there, but we did steal some fruit and juice while conversing with another pair of ladies staying in the house as well, they did partake in the breakfast which they said was delicious. The food was standard fair but well prepared, definitely a way to save money too. We were offered food both mornings which we politely declined, but our needs were always met. Saturday we wandered in and out a number of times as we prepared and partook in the Pride Weekend events and were greeted cheerily each time, offered beads, water, snacks, etc. Truly a wonderful experience, especially for the price. You are a bit of a walk from The Quarter, but we aimed to spend much of our time on Frenchmen St. anyway, which was a short walk away. If all your activities are in The Warehouse or Garden Districts, maybe choose somewhere closer, but if you're capable of the walk, we had no problem getting all the way to Canal St. and back. If you get too tired, Uber is always available, which is also how we went to and from the airport for around $34 each way.

Pros: The suite we stayed in was very clean , the beds totally comfortable, the hotel itself was beautiful. When I walked through the front door I was immediately taken away to another time. I was in awe of the ambience . I grew up in New Orleans now live in Canada . It has always been on my bucket list to visit and stay in such a beautiful place ~ Jean Lafitte house did not disappoint.

Pros: Fantastic location and beautiful place to stay. You're within the walking distance from everything in French Quarter and the main attractions. At the same time you're staying in a bit more quaint neighborhood. The place itself is amazing, with all of the old times charm, wooden floors and artfull metalwork, but modern amenities. Perfect combination. I stayed in one of their apartments and the kitchen was modern, nicely equipped with all the amenities, bathroom huge, bedroom comfortable and even washer and drier available in the apartment. Throughout your stay you have the keys to the entrance door, so you can come and go as if you were entering your own home. I'll definitely be back and recommend it to all.

Pros: The mansion is beautiful! The area is a little bit away from Bourbon Street, so we were able to get away from the party atmosphere when we wanted to relax. Cons: Slightly hostile guy at reception on check in - no welcome, just immediately asked for a credit card for the remainder of the balance due. Had to heave our suitcases up dangerously old, bent and curved stairs when we could have been told to leave them downstairs, since our room was in an entirely different building, which I didn't expect. If you're in the different building, you'll have to walk across the street to get to the courtyard to use the pool. The door to our bathroom was warped and wouldn't close properly, needed a lot of force. There was one small window in our room above the door with a curtain we couldn't open, so it was quite dark. Noise from rooms next door is super loud.

Cons: While spacious, the room was not the super comfortable. The doors to the bathroom were old french wooden doors that were hard to close and the ventilation in the bathroom was not that great since there was no window. I wish they offered more amenities such as a simple continental breakfast. They did have a bowl of fruit for guests in the reception area, but it was in the main building and were across the street behind the main building so it was not that convenient for us.

My room upstairs was delightful, with a/c, a TV (although it malfunctioned the 2nd day) and fridge, and a shared bathroom which feels like an ensuite. A wonderful staff that made you feel like family and walking distance to the French Quarter. The breakfast was basic continental with fresh fruit, cereal, etc., but if you desire a more substantial meal to start the day there is a place a few doors down on the corner called the New Orleans Cake Café & Bakery. Be sure to go there at least once for breakfast or lunch before you leave. I made my reservation too late and the one room that was left was only available for 2 nights. I would like to have stayed at least one more day. Next time I'll plan further ahead.

There is plenty of street parking which not only saved me money but also made it easy to come and go. You don't need to drive to get to the French Quarter because it's only a few blocks away.
The neighborhood is beautifully maintained and safe. I was traveling alone and Benjamin helped me carry my luggage to my room and Ed was so welcoming when I checked in. They offer wine and cheese from 5-6 every evening which is a great way to meet some of the other guests and share places to visit. There was a huge selection for breakfast in the morning in beautiful surroundings.
The home is warm and charming. Each room has its own elegant charm. I was ill the day I left with a stomach flu and Ed was so kind and took care of me just like a close friend. He made sure I was well enough to travel and printed my boarding pass for me and checked to see if my flight was on time. I felt like I was staying with dear friends.

Cons: As always when traveling on a motorcycle it's nice to have a covered safe place to park your bike. Street parking was all that was available but that was pretty much the case at all places in this area. After talking to the owner, I felt safe leaving my bike parked at the curb. I covered the bike when I got there and didn't touch it until I was ready to leave. I walked everywhere I wanted to go. And I did notice that there was always plenty of parking space available, (for a bike or car), right in front of the property, so it would not have been a problem had I used my bike to go places.

Cons: Rooms were smaller than expected and there was no place to sit other than on the bed (no chair in our room; I'm not sure about our daughter's room). Rooms were down the hall from each other, but not next to each other. I don't know where some of the spaces in the pictures are located - we never saw them.

Pros: An amazingly great accommodation 20 min walk to good Bourbon street and 10 min from Frenshman street. The hotel is in a quiet area with typical New Orleans settlement. Here you live in a local way! I got good help from the restaurant next door, both for key delivery and tips and advice. The restaurant is also excellent.

Pros: We enjoyed how close the bed and breakfast was to the French Quarter. The staff was super friendly and accommodating.
Cons: We were supposed to check in at 3 pm on Monday the 1st (of February). The innkeeper texted us to let us know the BnB was not open on Mondays. If the room was clean before 3 pm we would be allowed to check in. We arrived to the BnB and found our room at 11 am hadn't been cleaned from the person before. So we decided we would just wander and come back at 3 pm. We did so and when we returned we found the room in the same condition. At this point I'm tired and frustrated. We call the innkeeper and he tells us there is staff at the property that should be taking care of it. After that they quickly cleaned our room and we were allowed in around 415 pm. This was one pitfall. I understand if you are closed on Mondays, but what I don't understand is why you don't have the staff to help run the place. In our price we were offered a continental breakfast... But the chef was in Houston and we did not get the continental breakfast the next day. We got a knock on our door at 8 pm to give us our breakfast. This included a yogurt, Apple, granola bar, croissant, and water. I'm in no way upset with any of the staff. I'm just a little frustrated that all of this couldn't have been told to us prior to our arrival so that if we wanted to find another hotel we could have. Value overall due to it being close to the French quarter was good. Value for the service provided, don't think so. I think I'll be staying somewhere different next time.

Pros: Rooms are very antique the bathroom could use a lot of TLC and the sheets weren’t the best otherwise I enjoyed my stay. I think if the bathrooms were cleaned better everything would be much better. Otherwise location is great, staff great the breakfast was just ok... I didn’t know eat it but it held my kids over until we were all ready to leave for a bigger meal. The court yard was a great place to take photos!

Pros: This was a super cute vintage property. We especially liked the set up of us basically having our own little house. Each unit is a little shotgun house. My husband and I were traveling with our 4 kids. The kids each had their own bed in one room and my husband and I shared a king sized bed in our room. It was much more comfortable than a traditional hotel room where we are all 6 crammed into one room. The front desk staff was amazingly friendly and helpful!

Cons: The lady at the front desk was rude. The "ample" parking is street parking. We were told to "park like you live here." We didn't have a rental; it was obvious our Florida tag didn't "live" here. Shady neighborhood, worried about car all night. Dirty.

Cons: we arrived on a day and we had a mobility scooter I had told them I needed a downstairs because I couldn't get around so when we got here they had us in a room that had four steps up so then they changed us to a room to where I could get my scooter in the place needed fixed the switch in the bathroom was hanging out the air conditioner would not work there for the heater would not work they tried to change us to another room but there was no room for the scooter and the woman told us that if that room wouldn't work that they would give me a refund and move us the next day so we stayed in that room one night the next day they moved us into another room that had room for my scooter that room the toilet at the base was leaking would keep the floor wet we put towels around it the rest of it was fine except there is no phones in any of the rooms to call the office so if you don't have a cell phone then you got to walk to the office and walk back to talk to them now the day before I had met a couple that was standing at the office past the time that they were supposed to be open and we were talking and they had had all of their luggage stole out of their room and it was a gated rooms they came in at 3 and by 8 there things and luggage everything was stole out of their room so anyways that day I'm checking out I go to the office to get my refund for the one night and she says oh no we were going to give you a refund and you could go somewhere else and and get a motel somewhere else I said that's not what I was told well we can't do that we can't do a refund I'll have to talk to her about that so I don't like being lied to so no I will never recommend this place and I will never stay here again and I hope nobody ever does because they're ripoff they won't maintain what they have thank you very much old Town inn

Cons: Overpriced. The water went from hot to cold on its own so showering was unpleasant. The floor was sticky. We stayed two nights and didn’t get room service. Breakfast was unsatisfactory. Powder for creamer. No fruit. Poor quality of towels, very thin and stained. I wish I would have looked at the older comments. Many of these things were mentioned there since June (now December) and it seems like nothing has been done. I understand some things cannot be controlled: thin walls, noisy street, old beds and mattresses, tiny rooms and bathrooms. The rooms do not look like what is pictured on website.

Cons: While I would still rate my overall experience as good, I think the place could have been cleaner. When we checked in, the bathroom sink had a dead wildflower on it probably left by the previous guests. There was a desk in our unit that was so dusty, it soiled a pair of pants I set on it before I’d noticed the dust. Also, we were there for two nights and on night number 2, I had to request clean sheets to take to my room so that I could change the sheets myself as our beds hadn’t been made or changed. Compared to some other hotels in the area, it was definitely a good price but for $200 a night, I’d expect the bedding changed every night.

Cons: No signs other than street address. Haphazard check in process. No coffee in the morning (there's a machine but no indication of where to find the materials or get water and no one around to ask). Only saw staff once, and it was her first day. Rooms are pretty much a bed and bathroom only, no place to sit other than the bed itself.

Cons: The only things lacking are nit-picky things. For example there was not ice available. And they only had showers not tubs. There was street side parking only and it was hard to find places to park at times because it is in a residential area. But as I said for all the pros, these are just little nitpicky things.
