Pros: Friendly, good location, great breakfast! Clean and comfortable
7,1 Good
Pros: Breakfast
Cons: Given a family room on arrival. This was not the room booked. Furniture was extremely poor with only one chair similar to a dining chair and very uncomfortable so that we only had the bed to sit on. This is really only a B&B. We were moved on our second day. We were told on our arrival that we could be so I think it was understood that they had not met the booking conditions.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Perfect location for a good price, just around the corner from the friends I wanted to visit, my daughter could easily come over for breakfast and was welcomed with a cup of tea and fresh toast... great! Even the tiny room at the beginning was cosy and comfortable, the one during the following week simply luxurious. I'll definitely book it again!

Cons: Nothing I can think of!
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Locality to Milford on Sea was brilliant, room was lovely and the view over the field was peaceful. Receptionist and staff very helpful
Cons: Unfortunately the floor in the restaurant hadn’t been hoovered and bits of food was still on it from the night before however the breakfast was freshly cooked and tasted so good that made up for it. The carpet on the stairs was frayed but didn’t upset the look of the hotel which was festive and very welcoming.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Location was perfect for us - we wanted to be around Milford. Hotel, reception, room and bed, bar staff were all extremely good Breakfast was not so good -- 'fresh fruit' tasted out of a tin. Porridge was lumpy and tasteless. croissants looked as bad as those on a ferry crossing. But that's not a huge issue for me - I'd come back for the hotel itself.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Good staff, good room, good food great location, very dog friendly
Cons: Nothing
2,0 Mediocre
Pros: Nice forest in the surrounding.
Cons: There was brown stains on the toilet seat, contact lens on the floor, hole and leaves on the towel, water in the kettle. Worst housekeeping I've ever seen in hotels.
7,9 Good
Pros: It’s very convenient location, the staff were really nice, the pub and dining facilities were good
Cons: They never changed our sheets, they didn’t properly clean the room, we had to make a request for them to change towels. Also the window shutters permitted some light in morning which was a bit frustrating as I prefer black out curtains. The room was very small for its price.
7,0 Good
Pros: Restaurant food good, lots of it. Staff pleasant if a little too attentive during our meal. Garden looked good for the summer months. Nice atmosphere
Cons: Pillows hard. Lift very noisy until late at night. Couldnt open window, lots of condensation. Breakfast wasn't great for the money
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Exceptionally good for dogs
Cons: A table in room for breakfast & a pen to order it with would of been useful
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent staff. Wonderful food and just a fabulous stay, Thoroughly recommend
9,1 Excellent
Pros: Super-friendly staff. Their local knowledge was really helpful to us. The new menu was absolutely delicious! The hotel is undergoing refurbishment but their efforts to minimise disruption is really appreciated - we barely noticed and didn't hear a hammer or drill when we were there, but did see one or two workmen.
Cons: The bed was very firm but the staff were very friendly when approached and gave us another duvet without any hesitation.
6,3 Good
Pros: Well located Warm and cozy with old charm. The beds were comfortable and rooms pleasant and large
Cons: Had to request for room to be cleaned as it had not been done for two days. Also we understand repairs need to be done however our room was over the work being carried out and awoken each morning by the noise of power tools and banging. Maybe advice when checking in of this. Front desk Staff friendly once they weren’t on the phone but greeting customers from a low seated position just didn’t do it for us. I think I’ve said enough as we had other experience.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful location, fantastic staff, nothing too much trouble, very clean, amazing food.
Cons: First room we were given was a bit small. We spoke to the manager and was moved to a much larger room. Both rooms were very clean.
Captains Club Hotel - Christchurch - Building

9,0 Excellent (1 411 reviews)
R3 043+
Overview Reviews
When you stay at Captains Club Hotel in Christchurch, you'll be on the riverwalk, a 4-minute drive from Christchurch Harbour and 9 minutes from Bournemouth Beach. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, dry cleaning/laundry services, and a 24-hour front desk. Free self parking is available onsite.
6,0 Good
Pros: Great location, overlooking Christchurch Harbour. Very friendly staff, but also see negative comments below. Good-sized room. Good quality food and drink. Nice spa (although a little small).
Cons: Being woken after midnight by another guest being allowed access to our room (he claimed to have been given a key by hotel staff); turned out he was a "celebrity", and whilst we received apologies from senior hotel staff the stories didn't add up. Also, a cake ordered for a special occasion failed to materialise on the right day; the excuse given was that a "do not disturb" sign was hung on our door when the delivery was attempted, something we strongly refute. At breakfast on the 3rd day a staff member thought that we were expecting additional guests at our table, whereas that was not the case. All things considered, we have a feeling that there had been a mix-up of rooms, although this was denied by the senior staff. Room had no fridge, and there was insufficient lighting. Overall package a little over-priced.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything clean, modern & high quality . Food exceptionally good & service excellent Plenty of attentive staff Bedrooms beautiful Absolutely first class hotel
Cons: Nothing
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything nothing
Cons: Nothing
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Great location - worth paying a little extra for the river view bedrooms. Nice jacuzzi/spa (once you managed to get in!). Very friendly helpful staff. Breakfast was fantastic. Dinner was good quality if a bit expensive - amazing cheese soufflé.
Cons: It is starting to feel a bit dated in places - the centrally controlled air con that doesn’t really do much, panel heaters on the wall. The shower pressure was awful - it was a mere dribble if you wanted it with hot water. Was only offered the more expensive menu at dinner time rather than the all day one. Food felt about 10% over priced. Queuing and waiting time for the Spa. Expensive drinks in the bar.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Just returned from a 2 night stay at the Captains Club which far exceeded our expectations especially the standard of accommodation. The luxury apartment we stayed in was very spacious and well furnished. Every member of staff we came across were very friendly and helpful. This is without doubt one of the best hotels we have had the privilege of staying in. The only downside of our stay was checking out! We are already looking to book our next trip so hope to be back soon.
Cons: Nothing. Everything was 1st class.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great location, attentive staff yummy breakfast
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location Friendly staff Great breakfast Clean rooms Great weekend away
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely spacious room. Spacious and comfortable bed. Lovely greeting. Breakfast was perfect. The selection on the buffet and choice on hot menu was great. Eggs cooked to order.
Cons: There was little to not like. The only thing I would say is that the shower was a bit feeble and I think the shower head could do with an upgrade, the water was slow to come out. The bathroom was also a bit stuffy.

Pros: Looked lovely on the website but decor was even more amazing when we got there. Staff extremely helpful allowing us to check in early and to park in car park for as long as we wished on our day of departure.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff, food and room were fantastic.
Cons: Nothing
9,0 Excellent
Pros: The delicious fresh pink grapefruit and extremely fresh croissants.
Cons: The shower was absolutely awful. We should have said at the time but I was preoccupied with my husband’s wellbeing and we were there to visit my 93 year old mother in a nearby home. I do think it very odd that the shower problem has not been addressed/reported before. The extremely high standards otherwise maintained in the hotel do not really explain this.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: What an absolute gem of a place. As far as the hotel is concerned, we could not fault it. The complimentary morning tea/coffee delivery to your room, the personalised welcome and weather forecast notes were all symbolic of the extra thoughtful touches that oozed out of this hotel. The only negative is the choice of food. We wanted a casual easy eating/non-fussy menu for supper. Monty’s, the pub attached to the hotel, should have ticked the box. But unfortunately the menu was just too rich and very limited in choice- actually fewer options were available than were on the menu at the door. We decided to drive into Lymington for supper instead. But that was the only downside. This hotel and its staff are right up there with the best of them and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone - a class act.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Comfy room, beautifully decorated and a nice bathroom.
Cons: Very expensive bar, around £6 for a half pint bottle of cider. Very small cooked breakfast which is overpriced.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: All staff exceedingly cheerful, helpful and lovely. Nothing too much trouble. Very comfortable bed. Excellent breakfast: mixed buffet/cooked to order. Great food at both Monty's (informal) and the Terrace (fine dining)
Cons: The room was a little cold - radiators turned on in corridors would have helped
5,0 Okay
Pros: breakfast was good. Got food poisoning at dinner in restaurant though which spoilt our stay
Cons: food poisoning
8,2 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is very comfortable with excellent food, engaged staff and a great location within the New Forest. Loved the ponies holding up traffic in the Main Street on Sunday morning!
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The croissants were excellent. The tea was good. Breakfast was good. The staff were very helpful.
Cons: The coat hangers are really irritating. The hard foam rubber pillows and duvet were horrible and too hot. I did not like the led lighting.

Cons: Horses in the new forest
10,0 Excellent
Pros: the location was amazing and all of the staff in reception and bar were 100%
Cons: breakfast was mixed. nothing was particularly wrong however it was very cramped and our order was wrong a few times. we felt other people maybe a "wedding reception" got special service.
6,0 Good
Pros: Comfy bed, nice surroundings, pretty building itself
Cons: Too hot in the bathroom and switch to turn it down! Nowhere to hand hand towels. Hot room too, even with heating off. Staff way to up your arse- or not nice at all. Not easy access from rooms to spa! No privacy and discrete, you have to walk though the bar area full off people! Pool cold and spa area very small. At the restaurant bill automatically takes service charge which is rude without asking! No ashtrays anywhere and smoking area! Way too overpriced for what it is. Would not return again even for free!

Pros: I liked: the friendliness of the staff, being able to adjust the radiators to get exactly the temperature we required, the super shower, with plenty of hot water available, the cleanliness, the food and general atmosphere in the pub, and, of course, the parking.
Cons: The stairs to the room (only to be expected in an old property). The small double bed. The fact that, because it was a sleigh type bed, we couldn't see the television when lying in bed. Needs to be wall mounted.

Pros: The restaurant was good, and the location excellent for our event at BIC. The room was spacious but was much improved when we asked for two armchairs.
Cons: Too hot on first night. The bathroom was too small. Lighting for make up and shaving and reading was inadequate.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: The staff were so lovely and friendly. When we arrived staff was helpful in guiding us to the car park that they had sorted out for us. They held our luggage whilst we went and parked. To our surprise they upgraded our room to an executive double room which was a nice surprise. The room was very spacious and clean with lovely views of Bournemouth. Bed was comfy. Lots of local restaurants to choose from nearby and directly opposite the BIC which is perfect if you’ve got an event you’re attending there like we did. Breakfast was included with the room which is a great price and was delicious.

Cons: When breakfast was busier it took a while to get extras like drink top ups or toast. The shower could have been a little cleaner. The classic room has a very small shower...functions very well but is small...and I needed a spare duvet on top of the mattress to make it comfy

Pros: The room was clean and reasonably comfortable. We were leaving before breakfast began, so the staff made up a breakfast tray for us; it was enough for 4 people, let alone 2! Dinner in the bar/restaurant was great, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and efficient. The opportunity to leave my car there for 2 weeks while I was on holiday was an amazing bonus.
Cons: The room was only accessed via some steep stairs, making it difficult to negotiate with a suitcase, and especially with an 81 year old Mother who is not as quick getting up stairs as she used to be. The room was also hot (it was December) - great for Mother, but I prefer a cooler bedroom and it was not possible to alter the temperature.

Pros: We were extremely pleased with both our stays at the Avon Causeway Hotel , The evening dinner was excellent as was the provided breakfast, on both occasions the stay was value for money, we have told others of our experience.

Cons: Bad menu food worse ok if you like pre cooked or microwaved
8,0 Excellent
Pros: I liked: the friendliness of the staff, being able to adjust the radiators to get exactly the temperature we required, the super shower, with plenty of hot water available, the cleanliness, the food and general atmosphere in the pub, and, of course, the parking.
Cons: The stairs to the room (only to be expected in an old property). The small double bed. The fact that, because it was a sleigh type bed, we couldn't see the television when lying in bed. Needs to be wall mounted.
