Pros: I have celiacs disease, they were really good at catering for this, a huge basket of gluten free breads, cereals and cakes turned up at breakfast and I was walked through which items on the buffet were gluten free, which included the nuremberger sausages.
Add to this that the service is truly 5*, not always the case in 5* hotels, the high ceilings in the rooms, the pool, gym, sauna, gf steak tartare for supper, the view of the Alster at breakfast, it really can't be improved on.
AND most importantly all of the staff, without exception, were friendly, helpful and went the extra distance to make sure you really felt looked after.

Pros: The hotel is located closely to the lake Außenalster and offering lake view rooms on some of the upper floors. We got one of these rooms with a large window overseeing the lake and the city of Hamburg. That was the best part of our stay but we also very much liked the long and special history of this place.

Cons: Hotel needs a lot of work and updating . Lobby carpeting very shabby and dirty. Rooms were not at all attractive and had a musty odor. I would give this hotel 3 Stars definitely this is not a 5 Star hotel.

Cons: Nice old style hotel, but it does not meet expectations in its category. It is a bit overpriced and run out of date. The Staff was fine and doing the job but rather impersonal. The breakfast room is too small and gets overcrowded at certain times.

The 4-star superior Mövenpick Hotel Hamburg in the former water tower in the middle of the Sternschanzenpark, offers 226 modern non-smoking rooms and suites. The hotel has a Movenpick Restaurant, which offers international, regional and Swiss cuisine. The CAVE is situated in the historical water reservoir. Our 13 conference rooms offer space for meetings, banquets and conferences for up to 200 persons.The hotel has a fitness room and a relaxing sauna area with two saunas.

Pros: I'm traveling a lot for work worldwide but this was the most stunning hotel at all! The hotel is completely new and very modern. It was an old tower with a cave in it and they built a hotel inside the tower. Very quiet and relaxing. When you enter the hotel, they built like an underwater, under the ocean entrance with fish and water sound, all blue with automatic stairs leading you to the reception. Incredible experience!!! The hotel has a cave restaurant and bar, a beautiful fitness studio and sauna for free. The breakfast is exceptional!! Many different kinds of bread, fish, sausages, warm and cold vegetables, fish, pancakes, fruits, fruit salad, many yogurts, cerials. A beautiful capuccino machine. Everything you can think of you will find for breakfast.

Cons: Limited number of servers at breakfast so most mornings getting coffee at the table was slow. Taxis needs to be ordered at the front desk. One morning I had to wait 30 minutes for taxi to arrive. This was not the hotel's fault but just more a caution that taxis do not circulate this area (unlike at other hotels I have stayed at where taxis are waiting outside). Limited English TV channels.

Cons: I have stayed at the Radisson a few times over the past year for business. My main observation is that the service/quality has dropped. Check in was efficient and I was given a room on the same floor as the business class rooms and for a standard room it had a very nice view (20th floor). I recently became a VIP member of a frequent traveler program and it was only after I checked in and received an email from them asking if I had been informed about my VIP benefits that I realized that maybe my room assignment was partly because of that benefit and they had forgotten to inform me. However upon check out when I asked if my food and beverage had been discounted as per my membership benefits, I had to provide the email as “evidence”. On top of that the discount only applied to meals at the restaurant but not breakfast or minibar drinks. Other things to note: value for money is not as good. For example, many other hotels now have nespresso coffee machines as standard in their rooms. Here it only is available if you book a business class room. Rooms are clean but the bathrooms need upgrading. Breakfast used to have an egg station but that has now gone, although there is a good selection for breakfast items, it is expensive compared to other hotels in money vs selection. Finally there is a significant amount of construction around the area. During my previous stays, taxis were waiting outside the hotel during the mornings but now it seems like they only come through the area for drop off at the train station. I had to wait 20 minutes one morning to get a taxi from there.

We even got upgraded which was a lovely surprise and my request for extra pillows was fulfilled. The hotel is close to a main metro station (Schlump) so very handy to get around. My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our short stay at this hotel !

Cons: The hotel smelt quite badly of sewers and some of the rooms of sick, mine (thank god) didn't, it was quite a way out from anywhere and the local bus station was like a scene from the "Walking Dead" and was full of crack heads

Cons: The whole hotel had a powerful smell of some fragrance, which was quite annoying. We couldn't get it out of our room even after windows wide open for a long time. Other people on our floor were very loud at night - screaming and banging doors. Staff is not rude, but also not very nice.

Cons: Can not change German culture regarding air conditioning- but since there was not one in the room,the only way for fresh air was to open the windows.
However, it is on a major street, and near a set of train tracks (in use), so it got generally pretty loud at times.
