Pros: The best freshly cooked full English breakfast ever had. Awesome complimentary fresh Croissants. Housekeeping Manager was so helpful and polite, allowed us a late check out as well! Best location ever for pre-cruise stay, lively Pubs just around the corner. Most excellent hotel.

Pros: Amazing place to stay! Superb atmosphere! Amazing food! If I could name all the staff individually, I would!! They were simply AMAZING!!! From the moment I sent an email to rejig arrangements, to walking out at the end of our stay, we were served as if we were the only guests, and princes and princesses! What an awesome experience and memorable occasion! Thank you to Krystoff, Sergio (apologies for the spelling) and Leighton in particular for all your kindness and enthusiasm. You’ve not seen the last of us! I would definitely recommend this amazing gem!

Pros: Amazing little find. What a gem. Staff were all so lovely. The room gorgeous, clean and comfortable. Booked for our evening meal. The food and service amazing. Breakfast just lovely. Can’t wait to return.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Exceptional place. Everything about it was great. Wonderfully comfy beds, lovely staff, brilliant breakfast and little touches like a cold beer in the fridge, shortbread to have with my coffee, and delicious bath and hair products. A highlight was lying in the bathtub in the bedroom watching telly - I'd arrived off a long flight and it was such a great way to relax. I think it's the nicest place I've ever stayed in Britain, and I'll definitely be back.
Cons: It was just great. Thank you.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: A beautiful, thoughtfully decorated and welcoming building with rooms in both the Inn and the Old Post Office opposite. I stayed last minute as my daughter was in hospital there. The staff could not have been kinder or more willing to help. They are friendly, courteous and so kind. The breakfast was delicious with the chef even going the extra mile to make me gluten free pancakes. I can’t wait to return under different circumstances for a relaxing weekend. Simply superb.
Cons: Everything was lovely.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: The rooms were lovely and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was not great, as the chef had not arrived on time. However we were told, without having to ask, that there would be no charge for it as a result. I really appreciated this attitude as meant that an otherwise perfect stay remained happy and relaxed.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Welcoming and helpful staff.
Cons: Nothing
7,1 Good
Pros: Gorgeous room and location. Nespresso machine and lovely full size bath products are a great touch
Cons: The communication. We were bit told that the place will close at 6pm on Christmas Day when our booking was. We tried several times to call them a week before to find out if they had special hours and the phone was never picked up. They could have emailed us the special times or called us before the day of our booking. We had to leave our Christmas dinner at friends to come and check in. Also, the breakfast service was hot and miss. The food was cold and the service incomplete. You would get your full English and your toast, after several requests, would come 15 mins after. Shame really as the pub is fantastic

Pros: Complimentary breakfast available in room. Surprisingly good, and very convenient. Room slightly larger than expected. Bed comfortable and shower entirely adequate. The pub was full of character; we were sorry that our arrangements precluded our eating there.
Cons: The pub was a short walk from the centre of Winchester, but convenient for the railway station. This wasn't a problem, but those with walking difficulties ought to be aware of this. Nothing else on which I wish to comment.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: It's clean, welcoming, with a fantastic mini continental brekkie and a good range of tea and coffee. Found parking right outside. Situated above a pub with friendly and helpful staff. We've stayed here before and the location is nearly central and very peaceful.

2,5 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing at all
Cons: The sheets were old and worn, the towels were dirty. I woke up with bites all over my arms so we moved hotel. There was a strange very old man, who seemed to own the property (right out of a horror film) waiting downstairs. Who just mumbled at us and left the keys on the table when we were trying to check in. Really regret booking this place, not what it looks like in the photos at all!

10,0 Excellent
Pros: The food in the restaurant and relaxed atmosphere
Cons: Nothing
8,0 Excellent
Pros: My stay was brilliant. The location was fantastic and the hotel was very pleasant.
Cons: The only down side was the pillows. They were like concrete so we did not sleep very comfortable. Being an older building it was awkward to control temperature of the room - from boiling hot to freezing cold.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Staff super friendly and helpful
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Charming hotel, we had a lovely room overlooking the gardens. Didn't eat at the hotel but the staff were very nice and the location was excellent
Cons: Some noise from other guests and noise from pipes (I think)
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Location is fabulous on the edge of the forest, it's a nice, 3 star hotel and extremely good value for the money. Hotel is fairly basic but clean and functional. The staff are very friendly, the food is good and the chef sings impromptu, rubbish songs in the kitchen that can be heard in the restaurant, personally I found this fairly entertaining!
Cons: The restaurant needs more variety on the weekday menu sheet, the ala carte menu looks good but it was unavailable? Tv is too small but just a minor gripe.
6,7 Good
Pros: The room was big, lovely location, nice views, felt cosy and had all you needed in the room, and good room price compared to others around. Hosts friendly and accommodating.
Cons: Very noisy hearing other room guests through walls, pipes, windows banging etc, and being low season it must be noisier in summer. Dinner was confusing and expensive, didn’t say the menu in the room isn’t actually available and that dinner is a set smaller menu nightly until we were sat at dinner where it was around £20 for just main course, would be better to properly explain this in room pack. But would still stay again now we know what to expect, was good for a short stay.

9,6 Excellent
Pros: What a lovely relaxing place to stay. You can see the recent investment has all been about comfort so not necessarily new carpets etc. Talking of comfort - one of the comfiest mattresses ever, then the bed linen and pillows and duvet are all top notch. Classy. I can’t believe how strong the shower pressure was - this is a Victorian building, how did they manage to get such a great shower in there. This hotel has done everything that is important, like customer service, fantastic breakfasts, comfy bedrooms cleanliness, right. Maybe not as new or decorated as other places, but I don’t hesitate in recommending it!
Cons: I liked it. Not as new and decorated as some other places but everything important was done
9,4 Excellent

Cons: Just a little difficult to get too very busy road access
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly and helpful staff, lovely rooms.
7,9 Good
Pros: The hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas and the breakfast was lovely. The bar and restaurant area looked very nice but we didn't use it as it was very busy and noisy on Saturday night not an issue really just not our thing. The staff were all friendly.
Cons: The sloping ceilings in the bathroom but it was only a standard room and it was a good price so not really an issue.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Clean
Cons: Maintenance want great
10,0 Excellent

Pros: Hotel was modern and clean. We arrived late and the hotel staff was very helpful and even reminded us that the bar was about to close. We were surprised by the excellent quality of the included breakfast.
Cons: It was difficult to figure out entrance to the hotel as the barrier was down to the carpark and it was hard to find the available parking to the side of the entrance. Needed better signs.

Pros: Good location Lovely old building
7,0 Good
Pros: Comfy bed, nice tv selections, access to great restaurant and bar/lounge, super convenient to the downtown area shopping and pubs.
Cons: Rooms looked somewhat dated. Manual controls for the radiator heater, outlet plug popped after plugging one item in, shower a bit cramped but a great length as a tub. The iron had burned gunk on it and was difficult to use, no fridge...etc. no sheet between comforter and mattress sheet.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Excellent location in quiet area near WInchester High Street.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: We use this hotel annually for a one night stay in January each time finding it meets our needs very well. Now under new ownership we have noticed a general overall improvement. We usually take a light supper and have breakfast at the hotel, both were well cooked with the breakfast being particularly good. I have travelled to many parts of the world, both for employment and pleasure, staying in a broad range of hotels - The Winchester Royal compares very favourably on price and quality. The view over the garden is a pleasure.
Cons: The carpark is less than ideal but difficult to improve or modify given its town centre location. The drainage could be improved as there is considerably ponding after heavy rainfall. My wife informs me that the room could have been preheated to a higher temperature! - note we stay in the middle of a UK winter.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Central to all attractions and amenities. Literally 100 yards from the main street Hotel was a mix of modern design with the annexe and yet an historical older main builing going back centuries having been formerly a Bishops house first and then a Convent. it has plenty of character. Friendly helpful staff.
Cons: Breakfast not included in price.

5,0 Okay
Pros: We were allocated a room which hadn’t been serviced from the previous occupants. The receptionist wasn’t very apologetic and her response was “well it was showing as available on the system”. However she did arrange for it to be redone. It would have been nice to have been given a different room.
Cons: Comfortable bed and central location.
