Pros: Food. People. Atmosphere
Cons: Lovely people. Great location and nice atmosphere
8,0 Excellent
Pros: great food, great choice
Cons: just a little noisy at night due to the fact the smokers area is near the accommodation. My door didn't bolt either and although I was there for several days and had reported it on day 1, it wasn't fixed. Would have been nice as I was a single female and I had told the staff I felt a little unsafe.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Upgrade to double room, parking facilities, restaurant and bar.
Cons: The noise from upstairs at around 5am, not good after a heavy night socialising.

Pros: Friendly staff, great bar and restaurant. Food exceptional... we had food in the evening and breakfast. Considering these are difficult times, the staff couldn't do enough for us. Pros: The location was good to explore the town.
7,0 Good
Pros: breakfast very good ,dinner god ,service good .We had a young waitress with dark hair at dinner and breakfast ,she was great ,couldnt do enough to please us .
Cons: light in bedroom minus a cover bare wires into a terminal on show and basin tap was so loose likely to come adrift ,reported both these ,offered nothing in terms of compensation. Room was ok but it was a very special occasion for us which i e mailed them before hand .Had no reply on a e mail from the hotel back and room was ok but separate from main building by the car park .We had great big 4x4 truck parked right up to our bedroom window, and the floor above you can easily hear people walking about and hear them peeing in the toilet at night .Not romantic at all.Stayed here few times before so accommodation position a little disappointing.
7,0 Good
Pros: Good location, decent food and prices.
Cons: Room was cold and humid...
6,3 Good
Pros: Location at the centre of Thaxted is great and the breakfast was generous.
Cons: Central heating in the bedrooms had failed. No spare heater provided although the problem had been known about. Payment was taken on the day of arrival so there was no opportunity to negotiate a discount. The hotel car park needs bays painting on the tarmac to control the local residents cretinously scattered parking.
8,0 Excellent
Cons: The staff and hotel was great, restaurant was poor as not everything on the menu and breakfast from 7 till 9 and they was still setting up for breakfast at 7 not very fast, could have been better

Pros: Staff
Cons: Not much
2,0 Mediocre
Pros: The 3 meat roast was amazing for the price. The room was comfy and clean. Just let down by staff and explanation
Cons: The service in the bar was very slow. Had to wait for barman to pour his own drink. Taste it. Then rush to kitchen. Meanwhile other guy(more superior by uniform)folding napkins so I had to wait to order my food. Check in guy pointing to main doors as way of access during the night. Phoned in advance and stressed at check in needed to check out at 6.30 latest to catch flight. Went downstairs at 6.30 and couldn't exit building. Phoned emergency number and no response. Did ring back and emergency exit I could have used was in the restaurant. Not explained very well. And me got myself nearer to airport for early flight and still stressing

Pros: Room was comfortable and clean and met expectations. The staff were efficient and helpful during the uncertain rule changes due to the virus. Close to airport and easy to get the shuttle although it only came once an hour.
4,0 Okay
Pros: The continental breakfast starting at 4AM.
Cons: The bus price is not included in the price of the hotel. The bus only takes cash. Also, the lady bus driver early in the morning was extremely rude. She would not allow coffee cups on the bus and talked down to my wife and I and patronized other guests.
6,0 Good
Pros: I was not at the hotel due to quarantine (COVID-19). Connection with the COVID-19 money was returned. By remote correspondence communications with the staff / administrator was helpful and answered any questions I might have. I will definitely choose this hotel when I go to the UK (London).
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were very friendly, understanding and helpful. Scary times, although before the lockdown, staff were bravely smiling and welcoming stranded travellers. All questions answered, taxi booked for me and just very nice human beings and professional.
Cons: Not the hotels fault, but due to the Corona Virus and Government regulations the buffet breakfast was cancelled, this was very disappointing because breakfast was included and having stayed before I can tell you it is a very good breakfast! I did, however, get a croissant, muffins & apple (to go) so in these new times of difficulty I was grateful to still get something.

Cons: With all that’s going on at the moment, this hotel wouldn’t refund me, all other hotel abroad were VERY understanding, this place just wants to take your money, I’m pretty sure this hotel must have been closed, seeing all pubs, bars, and restaurants are closed down.

7,0 Good
Pros: Atrium very impressive, room clean with very good facilities.
Cons: Breakfast service a little chaotic. A self service buffet/display was present but with no crockery or cutlery, so guests did not really know what to do. The full english breakfast I ordered was a generous helping - except the fried egg was solid and inedible. The coffee, I requested did not arrive at all.

Pros: Proximity to the airport.
Cons: The sink drain didn't work.

Cons: By public transport it was a bit awkward to get to and by taxi it was ridiculously expensive. I didnt like the fact that it appeared that the front entrance was flanked by laundry bins etc.
2,0 Mediocre
Pros: Nothing
Cons: No real blanket. The “blanket” was as thin as a napkin, like blankets in warm countries. It was very cold, I used towels to keep warm. I was too tiered to complain.

2,8 Mediocre
Pros: The hotel is located close to Stansted airport BUT...
Cons: DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL or DeSalis. I have given fair (good) reviews to most of the hotels where I have stayed in the past. My reviews can be seen in Agoda, Booking, Kayak and I am a Platinum member with Marriott hotels. What did I not like about this hotel? I encountered the rudest and most disrespectful staff I've ever dealt with. As soon as I walked in the guy at the front desk yelled at my girlfriend and I for leaving the car parked (momentarily) in the only area available (we did this to confirm that we had a room before unloading our suitcases) If you're driving, bear in mind that the hotel has two decent parking spots, otherwise you'll end up leaving your car in the back of the building which seems dark and unsafe. The guy then said that he didn't see our reservation and sent us to a DIFFERENT HOTEL without even apologizing for the ordeal. The new hotel was called DeSalis and it was OK at first sight but we were given a nasty and old room in the back of the building. The room smelled like and old and humid warehouse. The bed was uncomfortable and you had to hold the shower with one hand as it wasn't attached to the wall. Further, we were told the restaurant closed at 11pm but we showed up at 10.35pm and they said that the kitchen was closed. Bear in mind that the closest restaurant is 15 minutes away from DeSalis. Outcome? We ate chips and drank cheap wine at 11.30pm in our nasty and uncomfortable room after driving 4 hours from Manchester. Overall, this was the worst experience I've ever had not with one but two hotels. I am sure other people have enjoyed their stays but I hope you guys keep in mind my comments if you want to avoid being THAT couple that doesn't their last night in such a lovely country! I want to leave on a good note so I will once again mention that both hotels are less than 8 minutes away from the aiport.

Pros: The building looks impressive. Nice grounds, but wellies were needed for a longer walk through the woods. The Staff were polite and friendly. Executive Room 402 was large, with good room lighting (NOT Bathroom, which was very poor). Lovely view from the window. cooked breakfast was excellent. The bed was comfortable.
Cons: The windows in our room were large (original?) sash windows which rattled and let a cold draught in. We had to put 3 covers over them to minimise them The maid left them in place, so it must be a common occurrence. No Trouser Press, as stated in the Hotel Specification. Although the cooked breakfast was good, the pastries were of a poor quality, with only two choices, and often ran out. The fruit was all tinned fruit and not fresh. This is very poor, especially when you take into account the price paid. Lighting in the Bathroom was poor, especially for shaving/make up. The room was very dated, maybe from 30 years ago. They hotel seems to be concentrating mainly on getting weddings and there were at least three on the weekend that we were there. There was very limited storage space in the room, despite its' size. We chose to have the Prosecco Afternoon Tea. There was a good selection of teas but only semi-skimmed milk! I know that there are a lot of people out there that obey the Government line and avoid fat like the plague, but you need twice as much semi-skimmed milk as whole milk to colour the Tea right, meaning that it will be COLD! Please stop being fanatics and offer whole milk at Afternoon Tea. Incidentally, single cream is available with your coffee at breakfast! The scone & cakes were not as good as we have had elsewhere. All in all, we would NOT stay here again.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Very helpful staff and lovely property. Well kept grounds and dog friendly. Excellent food for dinner and breakfast.
Cons: Reception being renovated so computers and printers slow.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The dinner was amazing and so was the Espresso Martini that we had as pre-dinner drink.
Cons: I don't think there is anything that i could find fault with during our stay.
7,0 Good
Pros: Location wonderful, room facilities more than adequate and cleanliness 100%. Food in restaurant was amazing although expensive. Breakfast great value for money
Cons: Steam room broken. Therapist "called in sick" so cancelled my appointment but didnt tell me. Very disappointing. Entrance under renovation so had to walk past staying guests with my bags through the lobby. This was embarrassing. Rooms I usually stay in are massive but this time was tiny and staff couldn't really explain why. Disorganised and bad communication
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Annual visit for work and always the same high standard.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Room Setting Coffee Breakfast
Cons: Miscommunication between the hotel and Kayak leading to confusion about the fee. Same but between the restaurant and reception leading to confusion about whether I had paid for breakfast or not

Pros: Buetifully situated close to Stansted Airport
Cons: Had to stay in an annex building across the road where the lighting was poor. The main building was obviously not full so why? Just because we paid a cheaper price? This discourages me from staying there again, why do hotels do this?
9,7 Excellent
Pros: Large clean room and bathroom. Beautiful grounds. Our room had French doors looking out at a lovely green space. The restaurant was very nice. The food and service were both excellent. My husband had a huge, beautifully cooked, hamburger. Breakfast was very good as well. We were on our way out of the country and it was a relaxing break in traveling. All the staff was friendly and helpful. would stay again!
5,0 Okay
Pros: We have stayed here before and like the location and layout of the Hotel.
Cons: We paid for a superior double room with an extra large double bed. However in room 2 of the stable block is just a standard double bed. The pillows were also very uncomfortable to lay on as were fairly hard. We have stayed in the outside rooms of the stable block before and had a perfect stay however this time it was not so great unfortunately. The room was also pretty small which did not seem right when paying for a superior room. When checking in there was only one member of staff on reception who was also working in the restaurant and therefore had to phone the hotel in order to get checked in. I did try to phone reception once I saw the room however after trying several times I could not get through.

Pros: our stay at the hotel was lovely, only thing would say was that the noise of the traffic outside our room was very loud from the early hours :(
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The breakfast was one of the best I've had in a hotel. The room was comfortable, and bathroom clean, tea and coffee facilities good with extra if required.
Cons: The access door at the rear was almost impossible to open, we spent ages trying to gain access to our room once we returned. We again had problems when returning after Breakfast. The shower door was jammed, it had dropped and we had to lift it to get it to open.

Pros: The size of the room is pretty much the only thing that was good. The food is home made and pretty good but beware of hair.
Cons: Front desk was anxty and relatively unfriendly. Cleaner was forcefull and hard to get through. The whole room had a strong smell of bleach and had some trash in it in the corner. Bed was ok, no hair fan. The room itself looked like a relic of the 1970's . The location is far from any shops.

7,0 Good
Pros: Good price, location good.
Cons: Room very warm on arrival, but easy to fix
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The little extras, flannels in the bathroom, a good variety of hot drinks in the room. Also the friendly, accommodating owners.
Cons: We couldn't give an excellent rating as we were visiting family so didn't have breakfast, we need the full experience to give a proper review. There was nothing we didn't like in our brief experience.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We enjoyed the breakfast. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The property was clean and the host were accommodating.
Cons: The room was a little chilly but quickly addressed.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Tom and Nicola were very welcoming. They are a hard working young couple and very personable.
Cons: Being upstairs, steep stairs and a couple of others on the landing is not ideal when you have large suitcases. Tom was kind enough to carry the largest up for us. Beds were comfy and clean as was the room. Instant Coffee and tea available in room.
