Pros: Beautiful colonial house that was decorated and furnished in exceptionally. There were lots of different areas to sit around the veranda, pool and gardens. Breakfast was lovely and filled us up for the day
Cons: Nothing
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Everything was really good and of a high standard.
Cons: A door between the bedroom and en-suite bathroom would have been preferable to the curtain.

Pros: We experienced the kindest welcome we have ever had when the owners responded to our request for help. A map to the property, drawn by a friend, proved to be inaccurate and they drove out to our location and guided us to the B&B. Seeing that we were under stress they abandoned the check-in and took us straight to our room. Then they volunteered to organise a take-away from one of the local restaurants, which they duly served at a beautifully dressed table on the verandah. This wonderful act of kindness set the standard for the rest of our stay.

Pros: A wonderful place, I think the best hotel that we had on our trip. The hostess was extremely nice and thoughtful, e very detail in the house was fitting, from the beautiful furniture to wonderfully comfortable bed to the well-groomed garden . The breakfast was delicious, home— baked bread, different types of fruit every day and anything you can think of, everything healthy and mouth-watering. We were sad, we only stayed for three nights. You can make lovely trips to the beach, De Hoop Nature Reserve, and find lots of good restaurants for your dinner at night.

Pros: Everything. The owners are wonderfully helpful and they and the staff so friendly. The house itself is very interesting and the furnishing extrembly comfortable. The accommodation is spotlessly clean; the common areas very comfortable; coffee, tea and cookies/cakes as much as you want. Truly a very special place to stay. Will not hesitate to rebook when we return to South Africa

Pros: We loved everything! The rooms are amazing - so much space and with every comfort one could want. The fireplace is lit in the evenings and it's just such a wonderful space to be in. The main building is beautiful and very inviting. The conservatory where meals are served is so light and gorgeous. The staff were all fantastic and what a lovely treat of having our car washed before departure. They also arranged for us to have massages at the nearby Rain Spa, and booked us dinner at a restaurant close to the hotel. One night wasn't enough to get to enjoy all it had to offer.

Pros: The breakfast is excellent. The room is cozy. All the staff are kind and helpful. Thanks for Kenosia for arranging a delicious dinner for us. Though the weather is a bit cold, but the room is warm. The beds were all warmed prior to our arrival. The fit out and decoration are both filled up with love and elegance. My two kids enjoy staying on the loft so much that they don't even want to leave. I definitely recommend this hotel.

Pros: The only way to describe this 5 star accommodation is with 5 stars! All staff were eager to please. Our initial booking emails were met with congenial, accommodating responses to every request. Our welcome on arrival and interactions with the staff Fidiney & Ian and others were genuine and an array of afternoon tea and assortment of complimentary snacks was pleasant. Our dinner and breakfast in the conservatory was delicious. The rooms were spacious and bed comfortable with the fire lit during dinner it was also very cosy. On departure we discovered our car had been washed. The little details made this place homely and special. If we are ever in the area again we would stay here and we highly recommend it to anyone looking for accommodation in the area.
Cons: Not much! The shower tap was a bit finnicky, but hey, that's nitpicking.

Pros: Stephen and Jackie were extremely helpful and know Swellendam, it's history and the surrounding area well, they are able to give useful advice on where to go and what to do. 9,2 Excellent
Pros: The natural swimming pool was amazing to swim in and wonderful to just sit and look at
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Loved the room and the gardens and the eco pool were spectacular. Lovely glass of lemonade on our arrival and shortbread in the room was delicious. The glass of wine before dinner was a nice touch. We only stayed one night but enjoyed the breakfast, once served, before our departure. Very kind of Stephen and Jackie to suggest the best routes for us to travel both to the Hideaway and our next accommodation.
Cons: Sadly I found the hostess style to be slightly too orderly for me. I felt that Stephen and Jackie's style needed softening especially bearing in mind that we were a one night only stay. There is obviously a set pattern that they follow for all guests but I felt this needed adapting depending on guests lengths of stay. Stephen and Jackie were very condescending when we said we were going to Hermanus - why on earth would we want to go there! Well to answer ... because we wanted to. I personally didn't need such a long and intensive talk on arrival or such a lengthy description of the breakfast the following morning. I felt that perhaps listening skills needed improvement - like another guest we were given the run down on the room and immediately said we would not be using the TV, however, Stephen did still continue to tell us which buttons to press and told us not to press others as it would take hours to put right! In my opinion Stephen and Jackie have a beautiful accommodation with great facilities but I think a less structured and more casual way with guests might make people feel more comfortable.

Pros: Breakfast was amazing!! They also made us a lovely lunch platter as we wanted something light and didn't want to go out. Bathroom amenities were very good and we also loved the waterbed.
Cons: We were disappointed that the restaurant was closed for dinner. We specifically chose the establishment only for this reason. The on-site restaurant is advertised as part of the facilities and it shows open all year round. They should inform the guests if its closed for winter or not operating. But we opted for a take away pizza and enjoyed it by the fire:)

7,1 Good
Pros: The place was clean and cosy in nice surroundings. Breakfast was adequate
Cons: We felt it was a bit dated and basic for the cost. TV was small and also there were not really any channels with English speaking unless it was news. No English news channels at all. Slightly overpriced for what it was I felt

Pros: Great Breakfast
9,6 Excellent
Pros: It's a beautiful property and the hosts are the friendliest people. The breakfasts are exceptional. Rooms are beautifully big and clean and beds are nice and comfy. The staff and hosts also do a great job of dealing with the Eskom power outages and give everyone their own little battery lights for navigating their way around and for in the rooms. We also love their dog Homer!
Cons: There's nothing we didn't like about this property.

Pros: Eevrything was great, from the lovely units to the very comfortable beds, the beatifully kept gardens and a superb breakfast served on the terrace. Our host went out of her way to accomodate us and to top it all off our car was washed as part of their service!
Cons: The pool water was a little heavy on the chemicals, but otherwise there is really is nothing to criticize.

Pros: Friendly, professional, attentive staff. Made to feel very welcome. Just stayed 1 night. Room facilities were very good. Bed was comfortable. Excellent continental breakfast, lovely presentation. Additional bonus was that our car was washed in the early morning. Great restaurant called The Old Mill next door where we had dinner. Would highly recommend this as a place to stay.
Cons: Nothing

Pros: Booked this B&B so we could explore the area - Bontebok Park and Marloth Nature Reserve/Park - some lovely walking in each of those. Good selection of restaurants in the town and a couple within walking distance. Room, breakfast and facilities were fine - we enjojed a lazy sunny afternoon by the pool!
Cons: Nothing - all fine

Pros: The room we stayed in was nice, but the bathroom really needs some renovation. The floor next to the bathtub was damaged and covered by a floor mat. The patio outside has a beautiful view.
Cons: Although I asked if I could only have some toasts and yoghurt for breakfast I payed the same amount as my husband, who had the full breakfast with toasts, yoghurt and eggs/bacon/sausage etc.

Pros: Location and owner went the extra mile to accomodate guest requirements
5,8 Okay
Pros: The garden is fantastic. Breakfast is very good. TIP: have dinner at Lilly's restaurant on Voortrekkers Street, official address: 32 Andrew Whyte Street. So good and not expensive at all! Walking distance: 20 minutes. Not far from the Drostdy museum!
Cons: Wifi is not good, in 2 minutes it goes from half good to non existent. The room was not very clean and looked a bit worn out. The pool is incredibly small and not clean at all, dogs 'swim' in it all the time. Dogs walk in and out when you're having your breakfast, that is not very appealing.

Pros: The setting is breathtaking and the cottage was cozy.
Cons: The cottage was a little bit musty and had the smell of old cigarette smoke, but not overpowering enough to be a nuisance.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Views tastings peace
5,8 Okay
Cons: The accommodation was excessively priced for the the very average accommodation . It was poorly furnished (most of the furniture was in poor condition or appears to have been home made) and the doors didn’t close properly , including the shower door . I would not recommend that anybody stay at that price . I get the feeling that the price was loaded because they accepted animals . At half the price it would have been reasonable .
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful mountain views, nice room and very friendly 2 dogs that follow you around.
Cons: The outside cold room was a bit noisy at night when all was quite, but not much of a hindernis.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Nice location, friendly and helpful staff. We’ve had our bicycles and Natalie told us about a very nice cycle route, we ended up finding a very pretty dam with lovely views nestled away between the trees and sat out to enjoy sunset. Nice facilities and overall great value for money - would definitely recommend to other travellers.
Cons: Nothing to dislike!
7,5 Good
Pros: Beautiful decor and very comfortable. The studio is still new and well-equipped with working WiFi, satellite TV, huge shower space and lovely terrace. Great location with everything in Swellendam very close.
Cons: Normally have a host inform us how to check in but arrived just after 14:00 to find everything closed and no one around. Phoned host who sent someone to open. Was then told to pay the following morning at the tasting room. In the morning, they wouldn't accept payment and was told to do a bank transfer. Found no bank details anywhere until the host emailed to ask for payment. This accommodation needs a more personalised check in and out service. Bed linens for trundle bed was not there and we discovered it only late at night. Bath plug doesn't seal so water drains out slowly while bathing. Studio isn't good for kids. When they go out to play outside, they have to walk through a parking lot and the play area borders the parking area.
7,9 Good
Pros: Bed was comfortable, staff very helpful and friendly
Cons: The room was very dark had to put on the lights during the day
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Natalie was amazing. Her service was great and she was available to sort out any issues straight away. Beautiful room and location. Really enjoyed our visit!
Cons: The room needs a small coffee table as you have to put your glass on the floor next to the couch when using the lounge. Our bed was adjacent to the next room's kitchen and the neighbours were very noise one morning at 6am packing an leaving. TV & sound is not great. We stayed almost a week so we did want to use it once or twice.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed overnight in Studio 3 - which is self-catering (exclu. breakfast) and it was lovely & clean and the beds were super comfy with crisp clean linen! The space was just right for the 4 of us (2 kids and 2 adults with 1 large dog). A perfect half way stop between Plett and Cape Town, and a stone's throw away from shops and lovely restaurants (walk across the road and enjoy a delicious pizza to the at The Woodpecker - also dog friendly). DSTV and internet worked well for night time entertainment. The surrounding gardens are exquisite with endless birdlife - great for kids to explore. The pool was clean and the kids enjoyed a swim while we lazed on the deck chairs. The owner is delightful and greeted us with warmth and took us on a tour of the Moolmanshof (1798) - where the main B&B is - which is gorgeous! Moolmanshof is said to be the oldest house still standing in Swellendam and is a National Monument! We will definitely be back.
