ScammersPros:No transportation from airport, had to Uber there. They asked me where I came from when I got there(which is none of their business), and because I said "I flew in" they charged me an addition $100 for airport tax even though their location is NOT at the airport. My suggestion is if anyone goes here do NOT tell them where you came from, it's not their business. I was with my parents and luckily I cancelled my reservation and my mom rebooked it in her name and said she DIDNT come from the airport. Such a pain. Will never go here again.Reviewed Jan 16 2017

Cons:We were unable to pick up our car since they said that it would be about an hour to an hour and a half from the moment we made the reservation through Kayak. We made the reservation when we landed as we landed earlier than expected and they were still going to be open, once we got there, the agent told us it would be 1 to 1.5 hours until the car would be available. This was at 12:45 AM with 45 degrees outside. In the end we went to another rental company and made a reservation on the spot.Reviewed Nov 16 2020

Bait and switch from BudgetCons:Ordered car at SLC airport, when I arrived, I noticed that the address was for downtown, total was to be 318 $, now at airport I was told it would be 387$, but they did not have jeep Cherokee , was then told that I would have to spend 15 extra dollars per day, total know 526.51$, by the way, this as well happened to the customers before and after me, seems to be standard operating procedure with this budget franchise, they own the one downtown and at the airport, the car I received was a ford explorer, I believe this is the same class of vechile , if not in the past if the car was not available I would receive a free upgrade. Totally ripped off. I contacted Budget headquarters. Other issue is that they never answer their phone, they send you over to 800 number, I asked employee at counter about this and he informed me that they were instructed not to answer calls at the airportReviewed Jan 10 2016

Pros:Their counter rep (Michelle) was amazing! She listened to my situation and took the time to make sure I was taken care of. I will work with her again in a heartbeat.Cons:More personnel. Michelle was the only person manning the counter and even though she did an amazing job with it she shouldn't have had to.Reviewed May 24 2020

the old bait and switch routine - "take it or leavPros:Location was close - at the terminal. The vehicle was clean.Cons:So I arrive in SLC, delayed flight and just after midnight. They tell me that they don't have the car I had reserved but they could upgrade to another vehicle for about $50 more. I told them I was fine with another vehicle but we already had agreed on the price and I wouldn't pay any more. After a bit of discussion, I asked to talk to a manager and was told that there was no manager to talk to after midnight. They said I could take it or leave it. I was exhausted and just wanted to get to my hotel so I gave in and took it. The lady in front of me had a similar problem with the compact car she had reserved - they were trying to get her into a standard shift car and she didn't even know how to drive a stick. Her hotel was close by and she told them to "stick-it" and took a cab. I wish I could have done the same, but I had a 50+ mile drive ahead of me. I'm done with Budget - never again - as the ad goes ... I Got "Not Exactly"!!!Reviewed Jun 21 2016

Reserved car was not availablePros:After waiting in line and finding out my reserved car was not available. They offered to see if the Car rental counter next door had the available carCons:My wife is handicapped we rented a specific size car as it is difficult for her to get into or out of high or low vehicles. When told my car model was not available they offered me a pick up which my wife could not climb into. We ended up with a smaller SUV it did the job but was not what we had reserved. (We were told the car model we ordered had not yet been returned and if we wanted to wait a couple of hours, there was a chance one would be returned.) Over all the experience was acceptable but disappointingReviewed May 30 2017

Good but frustratedPros:Car was very nice and available when I arrived to pick up. Customer reps very nice, polite, and professional.Cons:Customer service - tried to extend my rental, but kept getting recordings that did not recognize any of the data submitted. Tried online as well as phone. Same problem. Finally left a voice mail that said they would call back within 48 hours. Lousy customer service! Drop off - four people working counter, yet not enough. Waited almost 20 mins before seeing a rep. Several customers waiting and waiting, and waiting. When the reps finally came back to counter, they seemed VERY stressed and over worked.Reviewed Aug 7 2016

Very poor customer service, don't reserve ahead!Pros:Car was clean. Drop off was quick and easy.Cons:Cost significantly higher than others on day of Rental and was told there was a 45%tax.tried to cancel reservation at pick up only to be told would still get charged for first day even though we didn't even leave desk area. Price finally adjusted a bit but still more than others.loaded car up in spot we were told to go but key did not fit the car.was told to walk around parking garage clicking key to find out which car opens as they must have parked it somewhere else. Really???Poor customer service! Stressful experience and felt like we were being tAken advantage of.Reviewed Mar 19 2017

Wrong car and attempted to overcharge on gasCons:First, they didn't have the car I paid for so they gave me an "upgrade" to a Jeep Wrangler which was aweful. Then when I returned it the attendant at the Salt Lake Airport location attempted to over charge me for gas. I couldn't find a nearby gas station and was running late for my flight so I returned with just under a half tank. I understand this was my fault for not pre paying but the Budget guy said he'd have to charge me $140 based on $8.50 a gallon (which equals 16.5 gallons). This was way to much and seemed like a gross overestimate of the fuel needed so I left in a hurry to find the nearest gas station. Sure enough, the tank barely took 13 gallons! So I returned, running even later for my flight and the guy said I'd have to wait at the back of a new very long line just to drop off the car! The line took forever because apparently the printer ran out of paper and he wasn't very printer savvy. When I finally got to the front of the line 15 minutes later I called him out on trying to rip me off on the fuel and he said it was the system that calculates it. So either this guy is a dishonest scammer or Budget's system is designed to gouge their customers who are in the unfortunate situation to have to pay the ridiculously inflated gas prices. It's bad enough to have to pay $8.50 a gallon but to overestimate the gallons needed by 3 or 4 is dishonest and unethical!!Reviewed Sep 20 2016

Cons:Upon arrival was told there is a one hour wait for a car (with several families ahead of me) no apology. If I was unhappy, " try somewhere else." They came up with a small 2-door jeep. When I asked if it was 4 door they said yes, it is a SUV for the same price. It was a 2-door small Sarah jeep. They asked if I wanted to return the car with fuel full or have them fill it. I asked how much for the fuel, they said $2.80 never saying that they would charge for a full tank (I used 1/4 tank) They changed me $53.00 for that 1/4 tank of fuel. From beginning to end it was a HORRIBLE experience.Reviewed Jul 11 2016

Worst rental car experience ever!!Cons:Despite clearly stating that my plane number and arrival at 11:30pm their computer system auto filled 1200 (noon) as the expected pick up time. They then released by large size car, so that when I arrived at 0000 (midnight) to pick up my car they stated it was my fault for not properly filling out the reservation information They said that they had cars but they did not have them ready, nor did they know what type of cars they had. They suggested that I wait 2-3 hours (which would have been well past 3am) and then they would MAYBE have a car but could not guarantee if there was a car or what type it would be. I will never use Budget car again!!Reviewed Jan 2 2019

Cons:At pick-up was told they did mot have my car. Tried to make me tske a csr that was ro small for our luggage to fit. A big hour long hastle. In the end they magically were able to give me the correct size car, which I had purposely reserved months in advance. Dont appreciate being lied yo snd wasting my time.Reviewed Feb 16 2021
