Desk agent was greatPros:LOVED the agent in SLC - he was very helpful and courteous in getting us a larger upgrade.Cons:Off-terminal building was difficult to locate. Could use better signage to & from the airport. ***Also, we are young, frequent travelers but after rental car drop-off, getting back to the terminal via the shuttle was very confusing.*** The shuttle drops you back off in front of the rental car place instead of at your Airline's Terminal so we had no idea where we needed to go. Ended up walking through two terminals until we found the American terminal. SLC airport is old and poorly signed -- it would help if your shuttle drivers could instruct people on where their Airline's terminal is.Reviewed Jan 17 2018

Cons:The employee immediately asked me if I wanted to upgrade to an SUV, not mentioning the increased cost. I confirmed that I would have to pay for the upgrade, the employee said yes, so I said I was not interested. She then let me know that I would be getting an upgrade to an SUV because that was all they had available. They were trying to get me to pay for an upgrade that they KNEW I would be getting anyways. I found this and the general rude treatment from two separate employees (one at pick up, one at drop off) to be unacceptable.Reviewed Apr 18 2016

Slow pick up/quick returnPros:The return process was very quick, and the shuttle got us to the airport timely for our return trip home.Cons:You should probably choose one of the rental car options with rental desks at the airport (I noticed Hertz and Enterprise). Advantage is at a remote location that is at a further than average distance from the airport. When we arrived, there were 4 other parties renting in front of us, and it took almost an hour and a half to get our car. They are not set up to handle large volumes of rentals. They were running short on the type cars that had been reserved, and the pick up process took much longer than what I am accustomed to with other companies. The price was just under other companies, but I don't know that it was worth the hassle. If you choose this company, bring your patience.Reviewed Mar 7 2016

Decent Car RentalPros:They gave me an upgrade to a large SUV for only $10 extra a day since there was unexpected snow in the Canyon to Park City, Utah. Staff were fairly friendly.Cons:Had to wait about 25 min for shuttle at the airport to take me about 10 min out to Advantage for the rental. My returning flight was at 5:55am and the earliest they pick up at their location was 5:15am in the morning. They assured me that was enough time to get through Security and to my flight. However, I barely made it - if I hadn't sprinted with my bags across the airport I would have missed my flight. I guess my other option would have been to be dropped off he night before but that would have been very difficult for me. That was too close to call for me and my comfort level, so I doubt I would purchase a car rental that far from the airport again.Reviewed May 2 2016

Poor reservation experiencePros:The van was reliable and got us to and from where we needed to go without issues.Cons:It took a while for the shuttle to arrive at the airport. I think I waited about 20 minutes for it. There was no indication of when it would show up. One of drivers for another company finally told us they come every 15 minutes. Once at the store the line was long and slow. It took another 20 minutes just to talk to someone. Then they didn’t have a comparable vehicle for me to rent. My ‘reservation’ meant nothing. I was basically forced to upgrade to a van. They gave me a better deal but they should have just given me the van for my reservation price since that is all that they had left. Pay a few bucks more and reserve a car with one of the major rentals at the airport. You’ll more than make it up in convenience and stress.Reviewed Apr 11 2016

never againPros:the car was fineCons:I made a reservation online for my visit to Salt Lake City this month. Within minutes I realized I had made a mistake. I called to see if I could add a day to my reservation. I was told NO. However I could go online and make a new one then they would cancel the first one. I went back online to do just that, imagine my surprise when the same car was three times what it had been 5 minutes earlier. I also noticed that because I had paid for the first one there are no changes, refunds or cancellations. I booked one day thinking I would sort it out in SLC. When I picked up the car I asked if the two could be merged, yes they could for an additional $511.00 and loose the original. The young woman at the counter could has cared less and was less than helpful. So for my four day stay I had to waste more than 2 hours of my time and gas to return the first car and get a totally different one. On the second car they double billed me for the insurance. Not to mention i had to give them my credit card for 2 $200.00 deposits. Admittedly I do not travel often so I do not know all the ins and outs, but come on I wanted to add a day, not cancel. I thought I was going to a trusted site "Travelocity" and by extension "Car Rentals.com". I will never go to either one again and I will tell everyone I know of my experience.Reviewed Jul 16 2018

Cons:When we got there and the car I requested was not available, felt pressured to upgrade. They gave us a car with temporary tags which expired before we had to return, did not notice till our second day and some 250 miles away. tried for 3 days to call them, never answered the phone. Call customer service and their hotlines and they were also unable to reach them in Salt Lake City. Called Utah State Highway Police and they said a trooper could give us a ticket and impound the car. Vacation was put in jeopardy so we drove back to get a different car. They said they were moving and the phones were not working and could not understand how the employee gave us a car with expiring tags. When we exchanged the car they were nice about it but everything else about customer service was terrible. We were told by 2 different people in customer service (phone) that they would get back to us and never returned that call. My suggestion to anyone else is to use the bigger names and forget about this company. Made no offer to adjust our bill even though we had to adjust our vacation and spent a whole day driving to and from our planned vacation to exchange car.Reviewed Aug 10 2016

Windshield nick on 32,000 mile car?Pros:Car worked fine despite the many scratches on hood, left front fender, and left quarter panel.Cons:Minor ding on windshield that did not affect visibility and was not spreading was overlooked by me in the damage report at initial pickup. Given the significant existing damage on the outside of the car, I figured Advantage had low enough damage standards that a very minor windshield ding was "de minimis" - too small to worry about. Apparently I was wrong. I wonder how many times Advantage has gone for a damage claim on the minor ding, succeeded in getting money from a renter, and then failed to replace the windshield. I'm entering "negotiations" with the 3rd party claim recovery company in the next day or two.Reviewed Feb 15 2017

Pros:The car was nice. And complimentary shuttle was great.Cons:Customer service could have been better, it did not feel that welcoming. When shuttling having my information to verify we aren’t getting into a strangers car would have felt safer. When going over the pre damages on the car before I leave I felt that it would be more beneficial for them to come out and inspect the car with me rather than me doing it alone. Security deposit amount needs to be listed because that was a surprise. But we enjoyed the car and returning it was easy. I just feel that those other things I mentioned need to be worked on.Reviewed May 10 2020

Pros:The manager did make corrections to fix the problems and was very kind.Cons:The car was very dirty at pickup outside. Full of scratches and a cigarette burn hole in the seat. They charged an upgrade charge without permission and a fuel charge w/o permission. Pros:I have rented from this Advantage agency before, and was picked up in a timely manner. I was running late when dropping off the car, and I was told I had an extra half hour to gas the car up. The car I received was an upgrade from the economy I'd rented, because there were no more economy cars, but there was no additional fee. Both at rental and drop off, the staff were very courteous. I waited a bit, but not long, at the counter for pick up; and noticed that the staff was pleasant to the folks in front of me as well.Cons:Because of weather, my incoming flights were cancelled, and I had to delay my car pick up by about 10 hours when my rescheduled flights would arrive. However, because of the change, I also had to pay more because of the change in daily rental cost since when I'd booked--where's the logic in that? It wasn't a lot of money, but I was informed I was lucky because it could have been a much higher rate. Hmmm.Reviewed Apr 29 2016

You get what you pay for (dirty)Pros:Drop off went quick and easyCons:Wasn't obvious that there are NOT at the terminal. Waited 30 minutes in the freezing cold for a shuttle. Tried to call ahead and was told you can't talk to them directly. Waited in a long line to get a car. Car windshield was nasty on the inside. Overall the car felt dirty. Car was gutless, stereo was flaky. Would not recommend, but they were the cheapest. I guess you get what you pay for. Also, "Camry-like" means shitty base-model Kia Optima.Reviewed Dec 24 2018
