Pros: The Ritz-Carlton did their absolute best to make sure we had the 5-Star stay you dreamed of! Such a stunning hotel with amazing facilities such as the pool and gym and the restaurants/cafe was just what we needed! It was my boyfriends birthday during our stay and The Hotel kindly provided my him with not only an assortment of cake and pastries but also a beautiful bottle of champagne! Very kind and cannot wait to return one day soon!

Pros: Ritz Carlton service was wonderful. Everything was well prepared and very attentive in all details. I must say it was beyond my expectation. Staffs are well trained. They are really willing to help and caring. When we were arrived, it was very late at night due to flight delay, the staff were waiting for us and immediately walked us to the rooms to do private check-in. The accessible facilities for wheelchair person were arranged as requested. Breakfast was great. We went to breakfast quite late. They are closing the breakfast line but the staff gently prepare individual portion per my requests.

Cons: Telephone in the rooms ran out of battery so we couldn't make internal call. One of concierge staff didn't assist me as good as she could. I think she could do her job better, though other concierges were excellent. Spa is closed too soon.

Cons: Not really a hotel for walkers. We like to walk a lot and take public transportation. Main entry for hotel best for cars/taxis. There is an after thought roped off area on the edge of the circle drive for pedestrians. The entrance is on 3rd floor up a steep ramp/circle drive which goes from ground floor up to 3rd level where the lobby is. We got honked at twice by taxis. At the top of ramp you arrive to the smoking break area for taxi drivers. Once past that you get to the the beautiful lobby. I think they are more use to people arriving by car/limo.

Pros: The staff are great and there is personalised service from staff who clean the room. The roof top bar is great and has lovely views across the river.
Cons: This is a beautiful historic hotel but not that comfortable. The room had a very small bedroom and difficult to walk around the bed. The bathroom was very large and lovely but was accessed by 6 narrow stairs. There were no windows just 2 porthole type windows high up and the room was claustrophobic. So you need to upgrade to a much more expensive room to get something comfortable. The pool was lovely but there is nowhere to sit. There are about 20 sunbeds rammed together and no other available space.

Cons: A few things in the room didn't work. The light control beside the bed was broken. You couldn't turn off the light. We had to call reception and organise for someone to fix it - at midnight! We just wanted to sleep!!!!! The problem was fixed very quickly but it shouldn't have happened. Also the walls of the bathroom are very thin. When one of us was in the toilet it was very noisy. Needs insulation.

Cons: the only thing missing from the room was a cupboard - there was literally no place to unpack, so we were living from our suitcases for a week I found it around the city, so not specific to the hotel, but was uncomfortable: the lobby was so cold it was like stepping into a freezer. I couldn't wrap my head around the fact that everything had to be cooled to an arctic cold temperature.

Cons: From the beginning, I should have set low standards. I asked for a room in the high level. The reception happily announced that he found one - a room at level 15. I never heard level 15 classified as an upper floor. But I was tired after 1.5 days of traveling. The next day, HVAC maintenance came to clean the vent - unannounced. Just knocked and said - we have to clean the vent. No forward notice from the hotel. The room was not very clean. There was mildew in the sink and the towels weren’t arranged properly. The sink stopper was off, the bathtub stop was broken and the water kept gushing out when you shower. The bathroom light was worst. It was like being in a mine, with some spots lit and others dimmed. Definitely not a place to get ready for a date for. The next day, housekeeping did not come. They said there was a privacy notice. I never saw a privacy notice. When I got in at 6pm, they rushed to expedite the cleaning, and it was done haphazardly. For the price you pay per night here, I think you’ll be better off at Fullerton, Shangri-La or Marina Bay Sands.

Cons: 1. Badly-managed ground floor reception and registration. We arrived at the ground floor lobby and lined up with a number of other people. Only to be told by the young executive who finally served us -- rudely & impatiently -- that this registration counter was only for corporate bookings and we should go up to the 5th floor for all other bookings. If you intend to segregate and discriminate bookings, then perhaps some clear signage and wayfinding would help?
Perhaps recognising that he had been rather rude, the young man then said he would register us anyway. He couldn't find our booking, asked to see the confirmation email, and then couldn't seem to wait the one minute it took me to call it up on my phone.
2. Poor manners at the 5th floor reception
We came back at 1.30 pm and went straight up to the 5th floor reception, as instructed, to collect our keys. Chaos as there were many waiting to check-in. I lined up at what I thought was the concierge counter to ask what I needed to do if I was simply looking to collect keys rather than do a full check-in, and was barked at by another impatient man at the [unlabelled] counter to the side of me.
Thank goodness for an older gentleman, Mr Suhaimi, who stepped forward to answer my simple question, promptly issued the keys, and assured us that our bags would be in our room, which it was. Kudos to Mr Suhaimi for being so well-mannered in a sea of rude Mandarin employees.
3. Went to our room. The shower cubicle had ugly black electrical tape all around the bottom, presumably to stop some sort of leak. Cheap toiletries. Old, tired fittings that haven't been updated since the late 1990s. Flat, overused pillows.
4. Breakfast the next morning at Chatterbox was dismal. Overcooked noodles, cheap butter, tasteless eggs. And a very small selection of food items that couldn't be called a buffet.
5. Rude service again at check-out, even though we had nothing to pay for and it was a straightforward sign-out. Doesn't anyone ever smile at this hotel?
All in all, not worth the price, and certainly not worth our patronage.
Don't bother with the Mandarin Orchard, it's way past its prime. There are many other hotels in SG that welcome you with a smile, maintain a good environment and charge you far less.

Cons: I am asthmatic so right when we settled in I couldn't stop noticing the stale smell. We also had just landed in SG so tried to check in 30 minutes early and our reservation did not show up until 2 pm. The staff was not the most attentive and the hostess held on to my phone for about 10 minutes.

Cons: Administration is abysmal. We were charged for 3 rooms and only booked 2. Three weeks later I am still waiting for a refund. I have contacted them and they said the refund has been okayed but I am yet to see it. We were charged for breakfasts that were included in our booking. Showed them the booking printout, but have still been charged. The hotel is not close to anything, so taxis are needed for every outing. Bathroom was dirty with mould and very outdated. We were really looking forward to a 5star stay and this is not even a 2.5star stay.

We didn’t cover it with the curtains for house keeping to see but unfortunately for 3 days nothing happened. Beds were not properly made. Only the duvet part was made so it looks like it was made, but bed sheets and pillows were not straightened out nor changed. Also, there was a day where dirty towels were left inside our closet! Why? What purpose did housekeeping have to check inside our closet when we closed it before heading out?

A piece of sweetwrapper dropped in the corridor lay on the floor for the 5 days I stayed there! Although the Executive Club area is great with food and service, they should not allow children under 16years in, since their parents do nothing to stop them making noise, running up and down, sticking their fingers in the food, messing on the carpet and generally spoiling the ambience.

Cons: Rooms are small (superior), as expected, but bigger than some rooms I've had in Japan. Pay for the deluxe and the rooms are more normal sized. signage was limited and the taxi drivers didn't know the hotel, so took some time finding the back entrance for cars

Cons: The air-conditioning, despite having a control panel in each room, had a mind of its own and tended to be too cold or too warm, irrespective of the temp and fan speed set on the panel - coupled with this, is the all too common practice of hotels putting a duvet on the bed, with no option of a top sheet or thinner blanket. A duvet would be more suited to a hotel room in the Arctic circle, rather than in a hotel located almost on the equator!
The bathrooms, while adequate, are a bit on the small side and the elevators are slow and not up to the amount of passenger traffic.

Pros: The location was great. Bathroom was great. Yhe shower power is second to no 5 star hotel. Wish all hotels had that. The staff member who served us late at night when we stated we would not want our children to sleep on the fold out couch due to the the damp-ish smell and its size she provided an extra bed at no extra charge 1st thing the next morning.

Cons: The set up of the bathroom. Toilet is inside and hand wash basin outside. Moreover toilet has no facilities for washing such as an inbuilt douchette or hand shower. After using the toilet one has to come out of the bathroom to wash hands. Bath tub was leaking.

Cons: Corridors are old and need upgrading. Pool area likewise. Carpets need removing. We noted rooms are being upgraded. Would suggest that when bathrooms are, like ours was, that the carpet is also. Cutlery in our kitchenette was not clean, but not a major issue for us.

Pros: The staff! They are so helpful! Truly felt welcomed and cared for! We had the upgrade to include the executive tower and lounge which made all the difference. We heard from another guest that the other room was not updated. Loved the lounge!
