Rio de Janeiro hotels near Parque das Ruinas

Pros: Everything, in particular the super friendly staff, warm welcome, great design, amazing restaurant for breakfast and dinner and of course the pool area with great views ofer the city. Definitely recommend staying here, especially as a couple.

Pros: Perfect location, great restaurant, swimming pool area is very relaxing.

Cons: - on everything (hotel, massage, restaurant) there is an extra service fee of at least 10% - at some point it just feels too much since the prices are already at the top end. - we forgot something in the hotel room and called the hotel to ask about it - they never called back :-( - TV in the room is quite small and no internet connection on it (no Netflix....)

Cons: Poor customer service at many times. No drinks upon my welcome. I Constantly had to contact the concierge to inform that my room needs cleaning or attending to every single day.

Cons: The pool area is in great need of renovation. The painting is old and the furniture is old. The service by the pool is nearly unexisting.

Cons: There were some issues in the start, such as no wifi, weird flashing light in room (all night long!) and cleaning staff forgot to make up our room. But once I talked to the staff they were super nice, understanding and made everything perfect. That really made the stay enjoyable.

Cons: Partly very slow service: - it took us 3 days to get a confirmation for a spa treatment, despite several requests from our side - proper reparation of the toilet in our room took a while as only quick fixes were done, which didn‘t solve the problem. Finally, a proper technician was send. - next shift was not informed about the luggage that was stored for us Etc. Those issues were more connected to the afternoon hotel-crew. They were friendly, but show lot of gaps by taking care of what was requested. Compared to that the Morning-Hotel-Crew seemed to be more professional/ experienced in serving their guests properly. Super friendly, pro-active and flexible. No complains here.

Pros: Wonderful Hotel, devine spacious bedroom with great facilities. Super large pool, spa, fitness room and great dining room and lovely food. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Absolutely wonderful Hotel I would definitely stay here again.

Cons: The location in Lapa may appear a little edgy with graffiti on lots of buildings etc but don't be put off by this as it is quite safe in the area. There are some homeless people sleeping outdoors down the street from the Hotel but they do not bother tourists. We had to change rooms from one side of the swimming pool to the other as there was a very loud Rooster over the wall from our bedroom and he was an early riser, that solved our issue.

Cons: We were given an occupied room when we arrived. After this mistake the room given to us was a very noisy ground floor one

Pros: The staff were extremely friendly, the facilities excellent and the location was good. Staying in Lapa meant the night life was great and the food in the local area was pretty good. Breakfast was a treat.

Pros: The hotel is an oasis in the midst of the chaos of a huge city. The rooms are spacious, the lighting excellent. I really liked the shower and bath amenities. The whole hotel was very clean and neat. The pool area looked very inviting. The staff are very polite and helpful.

Cons: We heard the neighbors partying all night long. We had to get up at 3AM for a flight, so it was totally disturbing.

Cons: Located in a shady street. Lots of noise at night and early in the morning (rooster making noise since 5am, people coming in and out)

Pros: The queen sized bed, the luxury in general, the pool area, restaurant and bar. Most of the staff is really nice, speacially if you speak portuguese. Four people in particular stood out for us, being them the waiters João Paulo, Francesco and Glaucio. And the tall outdoors cleaner named Luiz Claudio.

Cons: The receptionist Eduardo tried to charge us more than the combined booking price on booking.com, adding extra 15% which is ridiculous since booking.com had already included taxes for that stay.

Pros: Located in the heart of Lapa, the hotel puts you close to downtown and the drumbeat of the city. Also relatively close to St. Theresa and Maracanã Stadium. Wonderful pool.

Cons: The breakfast leaves a lot to be desired, but to be fair I find the food in Brazil as a whole to be hugely overrated. As a frequent traveller to the country I find the reliance of overcooked meat disappointing.

Pros: The views of the city from the roof top was picturesque. We are all still talking and sharing our pictures. It was just as advertised. The breakfast staff knew our names after day one. Wow. Wow I can't wait to return

Pros: Location is superb! The room is not at all sound prove... got awake several times during the night. I could even hear people talking in the rooms on the sides... clearly heard what they were talking. Room was not clean at all, hair on the floor and calc in the shower. Minibar does only have water and sugar soda. The restaurant had several times less personal and food before 12 was not possible. Beer are just cheap local beer. The worst was really that I couldn’t sleep one night through without being waked.

Cons: I asked for a quiet room from the moment of the reservation and I received one where there was a continuous noise, probably from the ventilation system. We arrived at the hotel at 8 a.m. , could not check in and I had to wait until 1.30 p.m. on some totally uncomfortable chairs. Only after two days they put a sofa. The hotel is located in the center, but in an unsafe area, with many street people in the adjacent areas.

Pros: I loved the location. You have to be aware because it is in the centre of town but it’s very vibey with lots of bars and eating places. Very bohemian.

Pros: I felt that the price was very fair for being Rio. The room and everything was very well kept. The staff was friendly, and the hotel is in a good location/proximity to many of the sites in Rio.

Cons: The hotel is very different from the pictures on booking, the room was old and a bit dodgy, the bed was also old and quite thin. Not even close to a four stars hotel and even farther from what the pictures makes it looks like. I don't recommend.

Pros: Great, polite and helpful staff/concierge team. Rooms were well kept and ac worked well. The breakfast served complimentary was always freshly prepared and above satisfactory. The choice and variety of the delicious buffet was a pleasant surprise. Overall our stay was pleasant.

Cons: I maybe crying over spilled milk here but the location wasn’t the best as a tourist. Thankfully I had a car rental throughout my stay and the hotels onsite car park with valet parking was wonderful however for those who may want a hotel we’re they can travel out with ease to various locations then this hotel may not be in the best location. The surrounding area does not see many tourists as much and therefore does not have much to invite the tourists to feel comfortable.

Cons: When I arrived the garbage bin in the room had not been cleaned. The A/C was terribly weak. The restaurant service was bad.

Cons: First evening we had a meal in the restaurant my partner had salmon fillet and it wasn’t cooked in the middle since then he spent the rest of the due ration of the holiday in bed 8 days and we fly home today . It’s been so upsetting what should have been our first holiday together to turn out like this . So please if your having salmon please make sure it’s cooked properly.

Cons: At 2am, streage loud noise came from the airconditioner and we couldn't sleep, so we had to changethe room. Then they ordered us to pack all things to move AT 3AM!!! We asked if we could do it in the morning, but they never accept it. 3AM!!! We just wanted to sleep!! so we were UNABLE TO SLEEP at the night at all.

Pros: The hotel itself is rather basic, but the rooftop pool gives it an extra star! Staff were always friendly and welcoming and when Sergio was on duty, he was always helpful and willing to help out with information on the local area etc.

Cons: Breakfast room is a little cramped with a bad layout, but the breakfast itself was very nice.
