Excellent 10,0
Pros: A beautiful, quiet property located in the middle of a tropical garden (jungle?) often frequented by little wild monkeys which we could feed by hand. Outstanding, plentiful breakfast filled with personal touch from the owners Gabriel and Claudio (e.g. our personal birthday cakes made by Claudio). Beautiful views over the downtown Rio, including the charming infinity pool. All was working perfectly (AC, wifi, hot water). We have received extreme support from Claudio and Gabriel, including expediting our covid test which was required for traveling back. Claudio has found and booked all the tours we wanted to take and had plenty of great suggestions. Wonderful place with such a nice, caring and hard working owners. Thank you so much Claudio and Gabriel!
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Despite these uncertain times, both Gabriel and Claudio welcomed us into their oasis in the middle of Santa Teresa. The breakfast is the best we have had at any hotel/B&B - fresh fruit, smoothies, yoghurt, eggs, avocado, cheese, cake... The property has a lovely swimming pool, a fantastic view of the city and lovely hosts! You can also enjoy the entertainment that comes with hand feeding the Marmoset monkeys that live in the grounds. If you are in RIO then please support this independent business - it definitely lives up to its 9.8 rating on Booking.com.
Cons: There isn’t anything not to like.
Excellent 9,0
Pros: The breakfast was magnificent and the location ideal. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful. The place is like a secret garden!
Cons: Would have been good to have complimentary tea and coffee available. Our room was also a little noisy but that’s because we chose to have windows open rather than aircon on.
Excellent 8,8
Pros: We loved this place! We stayed in the suite with the private pool. ( suite carioca) It definitely made our trip more special. It gives you complete privacy. The place is covered with greenery & plants. Has an amazing view of the city. The hosts decorated this gorgeous place with thinking of every little detail . The beds are extremely comfy it was a struggle to wake up :) Host and the stuff was such nice and caring people, they gave us great recommendations. And THAT BREAKFAST! You will feel like a king. You are being served with different china everyday one more beautiful than other. From eggs to fruits and cakes it has a huge breakfast . We were so full every morning but couldn’t stop eating cause everything was so yummy. Of course lets not forget about their cute dog Paco! Sweetest detAil of the place 💚 would not consider staying anywhere else! Highly recommended !
Excellent 10,0
Pros: It’s such a nice quite place you can relax in the city love the building with the cute tiles If you want to go to the sambadrome ask them for a phonenumber to arange tickets best ever! We where almost at the front !
Cons: Everything was perfect
Excellent 10,0
Pros: We loved everything! The room was stylish, clean & comfortable. The pool area is beautiful and the owners & staff clearly care about delivering a great experience. Breakfast was excellent! Beautifully presented, all fresh hand baked & so much to eat. The hosts Claudio & Gabriel & Eli were helpful & informative. Paco the dog was also friendly & lovely to have around..! The property & gardens are very well maintained & attractive. So many beautiful birds & little monkeys in the trees it really is a very special place. We are so happy we stayed here. & it was the perfect location for Carnival under 10 minutes walk to Lapa arches.
Cons: Nothing! We couldn’t improve a thing thanks for a lovely stay :)
Excellent 10,0
Pros: A hidden gem of a hotel. Such a beautiful hotel with the most amazing and accommodating owners and staff. The breakfast is spectacular. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone who is looking to stay in the centre of Rio.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: The place was extremaly beautiful, like an oasis on the middle of Rio. The host was very helpful and accomodating to what we needed, he made us feel very special and welcome. The view, the breakfast it really exceeded our expectations.
Cons: Close to area that could be consider unsafe if you go into wrong direction
Excellent 9,0
Pros: Warm welcome from host Claudio, who went out of his way to make our stay safe and enjoyable. Claudio told us what to see, where to eat and organised cabs to take us everywhere. Very good staff who attended to our every need.
Cons: Stairs but porter service was amazing.

Pros: What a place! Perfection, so beautifully decorated. The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. You never want to leave haha!
Excellent 10,0
Pros: The owner is a legend and also the service of the team is fabulous. Great location and amazing mixture of cultural educational design oriented deco.
Excellent 9,0
Pros: Amazing breakfast, amazing location, beautifully decorated, kind staff, great service, felt very at ease, tranquil
Cons: Cat poo in the plant on the balcony. Outdoor furniture worn out
Excellent 10,0
Pros: We loved the place, the hotel style, the staff was super welcoming and present. The localisation was very nice and the hotel gave us the best tips. Special Thanks to Valeria and Jean Michel, the best host we could imagine for a first trip in Rio !
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Our final stop during our time In Rio was Mama Ruisa - it really felt like a sanctuary nestled between the cobbled streets of Santa Teresa. The staff made us feel like we were at a home, to be honest, we didn’t really feel like guests but more like close friends of the hotel - which to me is far better. During our trip we fell in love with Brazil and Mama Ruisa was one of the key reasons for this. We will return to Brazil and ALWAYS stay here, so, if you’re going to Rio and looking for a place to get an elegant taste of Brazil at a very good price I would strongly recommend. Thank you team Mama Ruisa. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Good 7,0
Pros: The staff were exemplary in their level of service. They will help with any request, offer advice on where to go, help with booking excursions and be your port of call if you need anything. Breakfast was good with a selection of fresh fruit, homemade cakes, coffee, juices and eggs to order. The location has a hippy vibe offering picturesque green hillsides and, if you don't mind some steep walks, great views of Rio.
Cons: The location, particular for a first time visitor, is fairly remote. So to get around and see the main sites you will need the metro-closest one is 25 mins by foot or Uber. The wifi signal was intermittent but I think this is common occurrence based on the geography. Also my bed matress was very hard making sleep difficult. The shower was lukewarm even when opting for cold showers.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: David and Lydia made us feel right at home. Held breakfast for us as we had late morning arrival. Make special arrangements to accommodate our special arrival and departure requests.
Cons: Nothing to dislike.
Good 7,0
Pros: Breakfast was perfect & plentiful and delicious. Rooms were large and spacious, clean bathroom. Feeling of security in the complex, Dave the manager was very knowledgeable & helpful and informative.
Cons: Poor lighting in the rooms.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: We enjoyed a free upgrade to a very nice room with views. Nice breakfast, good location, and a fun-to-hang-with host, David.
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Staff is very helpful and friendly, CCB is in a nice green street, area (Santa Teresa) is a little bohemian, away from the overly touristy beaches
Excellent 9,0
Pros: Friendly staff, tasty breakfast
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 10,0
Pros: I am so glad I booked this place. The neighborhood is awesome, the place itself very nice and the rooms cozy. What sets this B&B apart, though, are the people running the place. Every single person is very friendly and helpful. They would go out of their way to help. I was travelling alone as a woman, which means one needs to pay a little more attention to safety in Brazil. But Casa Cool Beans made it very easy. They also helped me to plan tours and my evening entertainment. This place definitely meets international standards. Everybody speaks English. Beautiful view from my room.
Cons: What you need to know is that the part of the city the B&B is in, Santa Theresa, is not well connected to public transport. However, the charm of Santa Theresa makes this worth wile. Also, cabs or Uber are very affordable. Personally, I prefer this kind of transport over public transport in Brazil, so I didn't feel inconvenienced at all.

Excellent 9,0
Pros: Really good place. Feeling of being in aprivate house rather than a hotel. The owner is very friendly and very helpfull
Cons: ./.
Excellent 9,0
Pros: The view is truly breathtaking. Having your breakfast while enjoying a spectacular view of the sugarloaf mountain is unforgettable. The staff was very accommodating. Special thanks to gracious Hudson who provided excellent breakfast service. Just walk down from the hotel and you are in the heart of Santa Teresa. Because the location was so convenient we were able to enjoy the neighborhood carnavale which started at 7 am! The fridge is well stocked and I like the honesty system where you jot down how many snacks and drinks you took from the fridge. Our room was large and comfortable, reliable AC and wi-fi. Just steps from the famous Explorer bar, but quiet and very peaceful. I am very happy we chose to stay in Santa Teresa, loved the laid back, hip vibe. It was nice to get lost in the winding streets of the neighborhood and find yourself at the top of the famous Selaron steps.
Cons: The hot water was a bit unpredictable. It is quite a climb from the main road. If you are traveling solo note that the short walk from the main road to the back entrance of the hotel is a bit secluded.
Okay 5,8
Pros: Beautiful house, nice decoration and beautiful view.
Cons: It’s not an hotel and has no hotel like services. They shouldn’t use the name hotel since it creates a false expectation.

Pros: Best Place to be at Rio and Santa Teresa. From the Garden you have a breathtaking view to the Pão de Açúcar. The stuff is very kind and atentive. Great Breakfast with fruits and tapioca. We like the Rio Panoramic very much and for sure we will Return as possible.

Pros: Great breakfast (resort level) and pool. You feel you are in a beach resort in Rio's downtown. The decoration is quite nice, and the location is great to explore Rio's downtown including Santa Teresa and Lapa.
Cons: Security concerns as many guests are not compatible with a "family-trip". You can see many guests drinking excessively, shouting, and failing to comply with silence and civility. The hotel management seems not to bother about law compliance by guests (e.g. there was a party thrown midnight in the room close to mine. Room service continued delivering drinks there, though it was really noisy. They offered me a room change by midnight.).
Excellent 8,0
Pros: Cleanness
Cons: 10%
Excellent 8,0
Pros: Cleanness and the staff from the restaurant, they are very polite and helpful.
Cons: To pay 10% for everything, it is ridiculous, they give you a bill with 10% as it is the correct amount, without asking you about the optional 10% , and at the beginning of my stay. How can I give 10% to staff if I don’t know if they will be amazing to me. I stayed in others hotels and no one added 10% There everything that you get they added 10% even if you get a bottle of water from the fridge that cost 6 R$ my bill was 26 R$, that exaggerating amount, after I refused to pay the tax I just paid 6 R$, what big difference! Where the 20 R$ come from? Ridiculous! For the New Year’s Eve dinner the hotel could give to customers a courtesy drink, for example a cup of champagne, the dinner was 165 R$ per person and the menu was not fantastic, very poor for New year Eve, and they added 10% usual, which I refuse to pay. Checkin and checkout is very slow.
Excellent 9,0
Pros: Very nice hotel, well-located in Lapa which is a great area to reach the main sightseeing in the city. The room, breakfast and the swimming pool were great. Overall, a great quality/price ratio for what was offered.
Cons: Reception was quite always busy, making it hard to get information when needed, but no major downside to this stay. I would stay again in Vila Galé Hotel if I ever go back to Rio de Janeiro.
Good 7,0
Pros: Great room and elegant pool area
Cons: Having breakfast in the hotel is not a good experience. The fruits are past and there are very few options. The queue to order a tapioca is huge on season periods.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: The hotel is an oasis in the midst of the chaos of a huge city. The rooms are spacious, the lighting excellent. I really liked the shower and bath amenities. The whole hotel was very clean and neat. The pool area looked very inviting. The staff are very polite and helpful.
Cons: We heard the neighbors partying all night long. We had to get up at 3AM for a flight, so it was totally disturbing.

Pros: Location and room
Cons: Sauna too small as the pool
Excellent 9,6
Pros: Center location, clean, nice rooftop, value for money. Can walk to cathedral or seleron steps... I want to stay again, if I come back to Rio.
Cons: It was carnival, many party around here. A bit noisy, but all of ok.
Excellent 8,0
Pros: Central location great for access to many sights and the Sambadrome for Carnival . Breakfast was a great buffet with plenty of choice. View was excellent from the terrace bar we social see Sugar Loaf and Christ Redeemer - from the room was just roof tops etc.
Cons: Beds were a bit hard and spartan but otherwise fine
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Very good breakfast
Excellent 9,2
Pros: We made a mistake with our reservation which the gentleman at the front desk fixed for us without problem, truly excellent service! The staff are lovely and the people at the front desk speak really good English! Sadly the weather was a little poor but otherwise the top floor bar and pool would be amazing! The views are amazing! The room was clean, the bed super comfy and a huge hot shower!
Cons: Centro is not the best place to go for a walk after dark but during daytime the location is a good base to start exploring the city. The hotel restaurant food is good but the atmosphere is not so good.. it's cold, lights super bright and no music so you can hear the kitchen staff messing about.

Pros: A very good stay at the Prodigy hotel. There are many positives including the quality and cleanliness of the rooms, the ease and accessibility of getting around to either the adjacent shopping mall or the pool/breakfast area or indeed the airport itself. No denying that the two restaurant areas alongside the pool area were fantastic, as was the breakfast. Really fantastic food, service and view.
Cons: Improvements: -Slightly better value for money would be welcomed. -A more prompt email response service. Very basic email responses to the hotel were being returned outside what I deem an acceptable response time. - Kids free time at the pool would be very useful to most adults I'm sure. To spend a decent amount of money to stay here only for the pool to be dominated by kids wasn't enjoyable.

Excellent 10,0
Pros: The staff was super nice. The room was very comfortable and the hotel is very well located.
Cons: Other clients asking us not to use the elevator with them because it would be "crowded". The way elevators work is that they always go as further up as needed and back down, so it will never be empty on the first floor. They want me to wait forever?
Good 7,0
Pros: Good location and friendly staff
Cons: Hotel smell should be better. Smells like wet carpet specially on the hallways.

Cons: TV

Mediocre 2,0
Pros: the novohotel has down grade the quality of the rooms, common area and breakfast. breakfast very poor and very expensive Old rooms, air condition in common areas off during Summer. Air condition of the room broken, not working. The walls, sofa and curtains were with marks. Very old, noisy and uncomfortable bed and pillows.
Cons: bed, old rooms, bed was BAD
Okay 5,0
Pros: Very good location for connecting flights at Santos Dumont Airport or business in the city center.
Cons: Rooms are outdated and in need of refurbishment (showers for example). Would say it is a good 3 stars level, but definitely not 4. Was expecting a bit more from a Novotel. Location is not good for touristic visits to the city.
Okay 4,0
Pros: All Staff very kind. Safe was not working but staff came prompty and quickly fixed it. Price ok. Breakfast decent with quite few choices.
Cons: Room on the first floor was noisy. Noise coming both from the inside of the hotel (elevator and music) and from the outside (late evening music concerts). Sub optimal acustic protected windows and walls. Bad smell from fried food coming from nearby kitchen. That was the worse factor of my stay. Shower not working properly. Insufficient lights in the bathroom. Service at the bar very slow.
Okay 4,0
Pros: The location was great, as were the efforts of the staff overall. So was the availability of most things needed.
Cons: There was ZERO accommodation with my room change request! Having made this reservation months in advance, to find at check-in, that apparently a 'Handicap Accessible' room was reserved. This was clearly an error either by the property or the booking site. However, as previously mentioned - there was ZERO that this property did with me or for me in this unfortunate case. I'm forever disturbed and thoroughly disappointed by the lack of understanding and effort in even attempting to reconcile this issue. Our reservation was for 5 nights and was quite discouraging knowing that this property in this case did Nothing.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: The hotel staff was very polite and pleasant. The interior of the lobby very well designed. The room was comfortable with a nice double bed and a sofa which could be used for a child, but not for third adult, as it is not allowed to stay in one room more than two adults.
Cons: The breakfast was very good. Moreover, they cook an eggs/omelet right in front of guest. However, I would be glad to see a little bit more variety of food.

Mediocre 2,0
Pros: Staff seemed cool. All you can eat breakfast.
Cons: Mold in the first room, mold in the second room. Terrible wifi, lost connection often. Cool staff, but it needs cleaned and updated badly. (Cockroaches, yes, multiple, found in different places, including dining room, and it stayed dead on the floor for a half hour until we left).
Poor 1,0
Pros: The location
Cons: The air conditioner was leaking water all night and the whole floor was wet. My $200usd down feather coat is soak that can only be dry cleaned. My girlfriends $10usd each art markers were ruined. The WiFi barely worked. There wasn’t a fitted sheet on the bed so I kept waking up on the bare mattress. And when my Rappi food was delivered the front desk refused to give me eating utensils even though they have a restaurant
Mediocre 3,0
Pros: The location.
Cons: Everything.
Excellent 9,0
Pros: The hotel itself is quite good. It has all the basic infrastructure. The room was comfortable, it has even a safe in the wardrobe. Top floor has a swimming pool with a nice view over the city, and makes it a great place to take photos. The price for all of this was great. Location leaves nothing to desire when it comes to move through the city, it is nearby both the tram and subway stations. This allows you to get to all beaches and many of the touristic attractions very easily. You can move around the city without so much need of information from locals.
Cons: The public staying at the hotel however lacked somewhat a better care for their behavior in it. It is a simple consequence of the low prices. It creates at times some queues at the restaurant and the reception; possibly at the swimming pool too, given the size of the top floor, but I have only been there for photos.

Excellent 9,0
Pros: Good 3 star hotel with excellent location. Close to shopping, Metro is 100 meters away and you can walk to the Santos Dumont airport. HUGE breakfast that can keep you full to late afternoon.
Cons: No English TV channels. Lock on door feels not safe. Few staff speak English.
Mediocre 3,0
Pros: The staff...
Cons: Everything else...
Good 7,0
Cons: I did not like much of the internet. It is really slow.
Good 7,0
Pros: Location is perfect, price is good including basic breakfast
Cons: Service is only in Portuguese, no English or Spanish. Impossible to communicate with the staff. Hotel is very basic, as expected from the price.nobody cleaned our room for 2 days although we asked.
Excellent 8,0
Pros: The location is perfect. The staff is very helpful. The rooms are clean and the ones situated around the patio are very quiet (but obviously without a view). The streets around the hotel become rather festive during carnaval. Breakfast is good. I enjoyed my stay at Itajuba and would definately book there again.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Room service was excellent and at a great value for money.
Cons: The air conditioning system was old and did not work properly
Excellent 9,0
Pros: The staff are great. The breakfast is quite good. On the morning of Feb 22, a young man who speaks English helped me with several things. He is polite, is an excellent communicator and is also friendly and warm. He helped me hail a taxi, find a bloco, and carried my bag to the taxi. I did not ask for his name but he has short hair with some lighter bleached hair on top. Thank you so much!
Cons: The bathroom had not been cleaned. There long hairs on the toilet seat!
