Pros: A unique concept created by the Owner. Superb hospitality with personal touch! Beautifully designed villa in colonial style, in the heart of Santa Teresa. One of the best breakfast in the world. Ideal for a romantic trip. We will be back! Thank you Claudio and Gabriele :) Kasia&Bartek
Excellent 10,0
Pros: I loved everything about this place. Pictures don’t do it justice. So beautiful and quaint. Gives a great taste of Rio. Not too far from the city, but still gives a taste of the nature. Claudio was amazing. He made our stay unforgettable. Definitely coming back here!
Excellent 10,0
Pros: ...beautiful stylish mansion in the hills of Santa Teresa. The hosts, Claudio and Gabriel are just amazing, not only at decorating but also at assisting with any question and making you feel at home. The rooms are tastefully decorated, very comfortable and we had a stunning view. Breakfast is delicious, freshly prepared and every day a bit different. ...and I shouldn’t forget the friendly staff and Paco, the adorable dog. They made our stay even more perfect and unforgettable.
Cons: nothing
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Everything was perfect : Owners & staff really nice, helpful and trying to make us feel like home, the accommodation and swimming pool were amazing with the best panoramic view of the city, rooms are well decorated and really user friendly, and the top of the top was the breakfast! Everyday a bit different, the small details really made the difference. Book it without any hesitation.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: The property situated in a very trendy kind of alternative area of Rio which adds some charm to the mansion converted into hotel. It was a pleasure to enjoy the neighbourhood with an advise of the owners and also the facilities of the hotel. It is very stylish hotel with its own charm, morning breakfasts were beautiful. I would definitely recommend this place for someone who wants to experience Rio besides Ipanema and copacabana.
Excellent 9,6
Pros: The place is in a great location, santa teresa was my fave area in Rio. Claudio is an amazing host, gave us great recommendations for places to eat out etc. Thank you!
Excellent 9,6
Pros: This guest house is beautiful, quiet and with a relaxing swimming pool. The hosts and the staff are very nice and friendly people who make your stay as lovely and warm as they can. The breakfast is delicious: homemade food, amazing fruits and juice ; the table service is very beautiful and the presentation/decoration with a lot of attention. It is a wonderful place to stay if you want to have peace and relax time.

Pros: We liked the breakfast on the terrace with fresh fruits and omelette, the stuff was very helpful and kind, the location is great, we liked Santa Teresa.
Cons: Nothing - you just have to know, that it takes a little time to get to Santa Teresa by bus, train or taxi, but it's worth while!
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Just come and enjoy
Cons: Just come and enjoy
Excellent 10,0
Pros: The staff, the location, the charm of the place. From the first email enquiry through to the drop off at the airport, everyone there is happy and keen to make sure your arrival and stay will be the best possible experience you could have of Rio. As a mother travelling with two daughters, I felt totally safe thanks the to the advice of the passionate and caring owners and staff, and they were always on hand to offer the best advice of how to spend our time, where to go and eat and listen to music in order to fully enjoy the wonders of Rio.
Cons: Absolutely nothing! It couldn't have been more perfect!
Excellent 10,0
Pros: The welcoming atmosphere and the kindness of yhe host. Plus they helped us with our planning our sray and that was really helpfuml and enjoyable
Cons: Everything was just amazing
Excellent 9,2
Pros: - extremely hospitable and helping staff - high qualitatively equipped - Delicious breakfast - Cool, bohemian neighborhood around (With a lot of bars and art) - Nice swimming pool - we got great tips for activities in Rio
Cons: - Not easy to reach by public transportation. (You have to use Uber or Taxi most of the time) - More expensive than other B&B places (However it's worth the price!)
Excellent 8,8
Pros: The rooms are very spacious , great showers and comfortable beds , totally quiet neighborhood , easy to get to with UBER !!! David and Sergio whom I both personally met are great helpful hosts , I would really recommend CASA COOL BEANS , within 5 -10 minutes you can walk to great restaurants , go for it you will not regret it
Cons: The property full filled all my requirements , the cost- value - benefit in my opinion is fair.
Excellent 9,2
Pros: very friendly and exceptionally helpful owners and manager who made our stay an experience to remember
Cons: we loved every minute
Excellent 10,0
Pros: The room was very comfortable, clean and got a nice view, the breakfast was very nice and tasty. I stayed in Ipanema area as well but here is totally different kind of vives and more local, very nice to experience the area. On top of that, staffs are very nice and kind. They helped me out for many things and especially David is very kind and knowledgeable about where is the good places to go, so I felt very comfortable and very lucky to meet him. Thank you very much!
Excellent 10,0
Pros: It was not only the well designed & extraordinary clean room or the freshly brewed & tasty coffee that made our stay so perfect. It was especially the great hospitality and helpfulness of the owners and the whole team, which we apprechiate the most. They helped us immediately after we were rejected at the airport because of missing vaccination documents (always carry them with you, if you want to go from Brasil to Ecuador or Columbia). Without their support, we would never have arrived in Ecuador by the next day. What else to say? Awesome breakfast: fresh fruit and homemade omelette every day, they even serve specials like banana pancake from time to time and of course you will also find breadrolls, cake and muesli. The rooms: just gorgeous with tasteful artwork, really spacious and clean. In addition most of them have direct access to one of the terraces and a separate entry. You will also find wonderful recreation areas on the terraces and inside the building, beautiful flowers and a pool that is cleaned every morning. Wifi: works perfectly everywhere. And again: the staff! No matter if it's a ride to the airport at midnight, a good advice what to to in Rio on rainy days or a simple but helpful safety lesson - it all comes with a smile at Casa Cool Beans!
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Sergio was great extremely helpful when we arrived at airport and very welcoming. They also gave lots of extra travel information and breakfast in fridge as early check out. Just a shame we didn't stay longer
Cons: Nothing

Pros: The host was friendly and helpful. Also the breakfast was great!
Excellent 10,0
Pros: It was a nice experience: the price, location, rich breakfast (perfectly done)and, specially, the support provided by Maria, who made our stay the most pleasant and cozy. For sure we’ll choose Lapa Checa to stay in our next trips to Rio de Janeiro.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: The breakfast was amazing, and the overall comfort of the room. The host is super sweet and helpful.
Cons: Nothing- everything was great!
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Good location, easy to access to metro. Nice staff, although English barrier, but google translation is work. Good breakfast. Everything user friendly. Strong recommend.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Maria was great. Walking distance to the main sprawl of Lapa and also a bit quieter and removed. Incredibly comfortable bed. Strong wifi. Delicious breakfast (especially the coffee).
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Really nice room, was like a little apartment. Nice host.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: An amazing host, she was lovely, very friendly and despite the language barrier we got by with Google translate. The room was big, an enormous very comfortable bed, air conditioning and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was delicious and she left us a packed breakfast on our last day when we slept in. Great location, safe and secure building. Id definately stay again.
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 9,2
Pros: We were expecting it to be more like a traditional b&b/hostel but it is actually a private apartment room in a larger building. Breakfast is served in Maria’s own apartment on a separate floor. The building is secure with a security guard on the front desk and keypads on apartment doors. It felt very safe. Maria is a wonderful host. She doesn’t speak much English but uses a translation tool. She is friendly and happy to help. She even went out of her way to bake us a vegan cake especially. The normal breakfast selection is great and has fresh fruits, breads, cheeses, cold meats and cakes. The location is pretty good, not far from Santa Teresa, Selaron Steps, Parque de Ruinas. It’s also about a 15 minute taxi/Uber ride away from Ipanema, Copacabana and the Christ redeemer. The room has free WiFi, kettle, fridge and free drinking water.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Maria's home cooking. Advice and local knowledge from Maria, friendliness, good humour and fun!
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Nice and small B&B. Breakfast was awesome. Very friendly host. Easily the best hotel and breakfast during our 1 year world trip. Thank you!!

Pros: Very nice hosts, beautiful house to stay, close to metro. I loved the place!
Excellent 9,6
Pros: Splendid view. Host was very nice and took time to make suggestions and answer questions.
Cons: Nothing really. But keep in mind the the house is on the hill so best to go there by Uber/Taxi. And in the house itself are also several floors there so a lot of walking up and down to the kitchen, bathroom etc.
Excellent 9,6
Pros: Carmen and Fernando were amazing hosts. The house is splendid and the neighbourhood is charming.
Excellent 9,6
Pros: Fernando and Carmen were extremely warm and helpful. They were always available to give advice and make conversation. The house has a cool artsy vibe. It's a lovely space with magical views of the city. My room was on the top floor. It had a balcony with an amazing view. Santa Teresa is an interesting part of town-- definitely worth checking out for a couple days. And I'd recommend staying here. Great experience all around.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Great Breakfast, Fantastic View
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Fantastic, beautiful house in great location with very friendly and helpful hosts. The views are incredible and house is very well designed with art everywhere and a comfortable, private space/room with its own deck and a lovely second balcony downstairs with a a cozy shared swimming pool. Great location with good access to the metro for wandering different parts of the city. The hosts were very accommodating and lovely, interesting people. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Carmen is really kind, really helpful and give you a lot advices to visit the city and best places in Santa Teresa ( example : Bar do Serginho close to the Casa ). The view from the balcony is incredible to watch the sunrise !
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 9,2
Pros: The view, the owners and staff and breakfast. The shower after the day out!

Pros: This is one of those old grandeur houses, with artsy decor, in the hills of Santa Teresa. Location is good, close to the main road where restaurants and shops are. Linens were clean. Breakfast was good, plenty (but also expensive).
Cons: They have 2 cats! I always scan for pets, because I am allergic, but it only said "No Pets Allowed", nothing in the fine print that they have cats in the house. Since I suffer extremely, I would have liked to know to book somewhere else. Furthermore, we thought it was extremely expensive. We had a big and a small room, and paid US$809 for 2 nights (2 rooms, 4 people) plus US$166 for breakfast. We thought it was not worth so much money.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Loved my stay. I felt like I was at home from the moment I arrived. I stayed in the Amazon Room with an amazing view of the ocean and mountains in the distance and the very green yard out back. The neighbourhood the hotel is in is awesome, Santa Teresa. Valeria and Remy were wonderful hosts. I plan on returning in a couple of years :)
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Staff is superb. Accommodations are outstanding. Great location. Strong WiFi.
Cons: I have no criticisms.
Good 7,9
Pros: The outdoor area with the pool and the view from the garden as well as the balcony upstairs and the big room are very beautiful. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Cons: The room we got looked completely different from the room that is showed in the pictures. We expected a big room with a view but the room was in the basement, very small, had a wall next to the window a d no view also on the other window. Also we could only sleep until 7 am because a family was staying in the room above us and due to the wooden floors it was extremely noisy.
Excellent 9,2
Pros: A lovely boutique hotel with stylish interiors and within walking distance of some great cafes. Staff were extra friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble! Would definitely recommend!
Excellent 10,0
Pros: The most welcoming owner and staff who were so helpful and friendly. Nothing at all was too much trouble for them. A very personal service from them. Great location with lots of bars and restaurants near by. Easy access to all of Rio with Uber who were very cheap compared to UK prices . Charming colonial style mansion with an eclectic array of furnishings. Very chilled atmosphere to return home to each day. Fabulous views over the bay from the room we had. We absolutely loved our stay and would stay again.
Cons: Breakfast was very good but slightly on the expensive side but there are places to have breakfast nearby if you want to eat with the locals.. a lovely experience we found. We missed a couple of bottles of complimentary water as you can’t drink the tap water. No tea and coffee facilities in room.
Excellent 8,3
Pros: The room was lovely with a great view and decorated really well. The staff are friendly and Remy was particularly great and really helpful!
Cons: It wasn’t clear that breakfast wasn’t included and so we had a big bill to pay at the end that we weren’t expecting. This also included welcome drinks and coffee which we had assumed were complimentary.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Mama Ruisa was the most beautiful hotel I had ever stayed in, and everything exceeded my exceptions! The space was immaculate with an incredible collection of furniture. Location was also great, couldn't have asked for more! Wish I had more time in Rio to enjoy the hotel and the pool.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Valeria and the rest of the team were so friendly and helpful. They very kindly accommodated my request for champagne and roses in the room upon arrival for our 20th Wedding anniversary and were a wealth of knowledge and recommendations in both the local area and Rio more broadly. The room and house were beautiful and we loved breakfast on the private terrace with accompanying birdsong and marmosets. Would recommend without reservation to anyone :)
Cons: Nothing was great
Excellent 10,0
Pros: We stayed at Mama Ruisa at both ends of the trip. The place is a delight. St Theresa is a great area to be in, away from the hustle and bustle of the centro or the beaches but easy to get to by tram. The boutique hotel is colonial in style and the rooms we stayed in were exquisite. Above all the staff were engaging, friendly and willing to offer advice and guidance on everything. Special thanks to Valeria and Remy our hosts and to Rafael and all the other staff for making our trip so memorable
Cons: Zilch

Good 7,1
Pros: the location and over all structure.
Cons: the hotel was full for Rock n Rio but this was expected so they should be better prepared. breakfast was terrible, everything was gone, no reposition, really really bad. I've been here before and it was always a pleasure. this time I wonder if I'm ever going back. Bed shits were dirty, itchy, had SAND on them. I had to call in the middle of the night for them to be replaced. renovations on the floor with staff working at almost MIDNIGHT.
Good 7,9
Pros: Rooftop and restaurants
Cons: Gym - very small
Excellent 8,8
Pros: excellent location, very kind and attentive staff, we will return for sure!
Cons: In the first two days there was a strong smell of cigarette in the room, which was improving after... We have only that criticism..
Excellent 8,8
Pros: Location
Cons: Cleaning and noise
Mediocre 3,8
Pros: Decent locations
Cons: The front desk staff were horrendous, rude with attitude. Like it was a huge chore to help. The bar staff were so slow even when I was second in line. Took about 7 mins to make one of gin & tonic. Disastrous!!! The friendliest staff were the cleaners. No warning that the pool was having a refurb either.
Mediocre 3,3
Pros: Good location, grubby and in need of maintenance for a so called 4 star hotel
Cons: The restaurant was terrible food, the waiter was very inexperienced didn’t ask how we wanted our meat cooked when it came it was like shoe leather, the room wasn’t very clean and I would called it an executive suite it just passed as large double. Being told that the swimming pool was closed a week before arriving wasn’t ideal when the hotel must of know that they were planning to close it well in advance to give the opportunity to rebook somewhere that had the facilities that you were paying for. Not even an apology was given, it seemed that once they took your money they couldn’t care less, no customer service at all
Excellent 9,2
Pros: The Staff incredibly nice. Raquel, Alex, Alex the Front Desk agents shine, along with Housekeeping Staff to Restaurant Staff. Thank you All for making my staying experience so enjoyable.
Excellent 8,3
Pros: Geat views from hotel. Nice restaurants and good food
Cons: Rooms and corridors dark and not overly welcoming.p
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Easy in and out
Good 7,9
Pros: The View from the rooftop where the breakfast is served is AMAZING! Excellent staff!
Cons: Wish the sheets for the beds were properly fitted for the bed size. Also would like To have the rooftop Pool heated.

Pros: As I went for the carnival , the location was good
Excellent 10,0
Pros: The staff was amazing with swift early check in, queries and check out. Spacious room and clean. Location is central, easy walk to places of interest in central and of course, bloco parties in Lapa, Santa Teresa and Centro.
Cons: N/a
Excellent 9,2
Pros: Location, very next to subway and VLT
Cons: At night the area can be eerie.
Excellent 9,2
Pros: Good location and facility ; reasonable price
Cons: Need to list the additional 10% service charge more clearly
Excellent 9,2
Pros: The location was convenient for sightseeing around the Centro and Lapa. If SDU is your airport, it’s only a 5 minute taxi ride.
Cons: It wasn’t a problem, but taxi drivers do not know where this hotel is. I had one tell me that he didn’t think that there were any hotels on that street.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Friendly staff and great hotel
Good 7,5
Pros: Location.
Good 6,7
Pros: The staff was very kind and organized. The breakfast was good, but could be better.
Cons: My bedroom was smelling smoke. And some stuffs was too old.
Okay 4,0
Pros: The treatment
Cons: The room is not modern, the furniture is not modern and the price of the hotel is expensive and the structure doesn’t match with the amount paid. I was expecting a wonderful hotel.
Excellent 9,2
Pros: We made a mistake with our reservation which the gentleman at the front desk fixed for us without problem, truly excellent service! The staff are lovely and the people at the front desk speak really good English! Sadly the weather was a little poor but otherwise the top floor bar and pool would be amazing! The views are amazing! The room was clean, the bed super comfy and a huge hot shower!
Cons: Centro is not the best place to go for a walk after dark but during daytime the location is a good base to start exploring the city. The hotel restaurant food is good but the atmosphere is not so good.. it's cold, lights super bright and no music so you can hear the kitchen staff messing about.

Excellent 8,8
Pros: Good location. Staffs are very friendly.
Good 7,9
Pros: Central location- close to Lapa, which is what we required as we were staying for Carnival but a bit far away from the beaches. Fantastic breakfast.
Cons: Rooms aren't very big.
Good 6,3
Pros: Location, breakfast and friendly staff
Cons: Was expecting modern hotel but it is little bit old one and room furniture is old
Excellent 8,3
Pros: I enjoyed the hotel location.
Cons: I did not like the information that hotel staff told to my daughter regarding to breakfast fee. I did a reservation with breakfast included and someone told that it was not included. And, I had to pay to park my car. It is another way to get more money from costumers. I really didn't like this kind of slyness.
Good 6,3
Cons: We stayed for two nights and they never cleaned the room, even though we spent the complete day out and also leave the sign on the door
Okay 5,0
Pros: Bad condition
Cons: Booking
Excellent 8,8
Pros: The reception employees are all very nice, polite and helpful.

Pros: The hotel is perfect if you have an early flight leaving from the airport nearby (Santos Dumont Airport) and if you want to visit Santa Tereza.

Excellent 10,0
Pros: Very convenient to everything you need to do in Downtown Rio de Janeiro
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Everything
Good 7,0
Cons: The TV was way off the resolution and all the channels were pixelated due to this. The safe on the locker room didn't worked.
Excellent 8,8
Pros: The location is close to many things
Cons: The breakfast was delicious
Okay 5,4
Pros: Breakfast was pretty nice. I enjoyed it.
Cons: 40 people in line to check-out took over 45 mins. Really hot in the hotel room (eventhough it was cold outside) and a leakage in the bathroom.
Excellent 8,8
Pros: The pool area is great; the room is really nice
Cons: AC was too noisy; Just I've elevator was working
Okay 5,8
Pros: The location as we could walk to quite a few attractions.
Cons: Where do I start? The window AC that dripped all night & leaked water all over the floor? Or the old fashioned door insert key that didn’t open the door until 5-10 attempts? Or the bathroom door handle that fell off so we could never lock the door? Or the mold on the walls of the shower stall? Or the creaky light weight bed (& I am only 5 feet tall & weigh only 120lbs). I am shocked it’s a 4star hotel. It may have been in it’s glory days. Now it’s a 2star if at all.
Okay 5,8
Pros: old and bad air conditioner
Cons: location
Excellent 9,6
Pros: The breakfast buffet was good and had good options. Lapa area for nightlife is a 4 minute walk away and a lot of tourist landmarks are walking distance as well. Many restaurants cafes and bars on the same street. Go to Olla Gourmet down the street for fresh juice in the morning and amazing pastries. The dinner buffet at the hotel restaurant is bountiful and of great value!. Overall great stay and very clean place.
Cons: The room was very small and there was 2 of us with 2 single beds, would of been nice if there was a little more space.

Okay 4,2
Cons: Staff working at the reception was inefficient and slow. We spent more than an hour altogether queuing up just to check in (we had to check in twice). Wi-Fi kept cutting out - we had to go to the reception around 4 times for someone to come and look at it.
Good 7,9
Pros: Breakfast was good and setting excellent
Cons: Scramble eggs daily! They need to increase variety of breakfast
Okay 5,4
Pros: Excellent breakfast Receptionist was very friendly and helpful
Cons: I don't recommend these apartments for those who visit Brasil in winter. No hot water, no heater in the room, only some fan with cold air only, between door and corridor there is a big hole so you can hear personnel talking continuously on walkie talkie starting at 6-7am. Much loud from outside air conditioners.
Excellent 9,2
Pros: The staff is friendly. The room is big and cleaner. Very good breakfast. it´s all i need!
Okay 5,8
Pros: Good breakfast. I liked the pool and the amenities are good enough
Cons: The guy in charge of the breakfast was overseeing us just because my 1-y-old son had a small bread out of the breakfast room. In the following day often times the same guy was passing by our table seems double checking us. It was so embarrassed and we didn't feel comfortable. We stayed in an apartment in the next door (the called anexo). The anexo building was so old and smell bad. I didn't know we were to stay in the anexo when booked the room. The price of apartment in the anexo building is cheaper than the ones at the actual hotel, but I could afford a better place if I knew how it is in advance.
Good 6,7
Pros: Great breakfasts, big rooms and bathrooms
Cons: First room we got wasn't cleaned, second had leaking toilet
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Everything is FABULOUS!!!
Cons: Nothing to complain

Pros: Amazing location, walking distance from Santos Dumont airport and from a lot of consulates/embassies. Staff was super nice and I even got a courtesy breakfast and chocolate, since I checked-out on the date of my birthday.
Cons: I wish there would be a free small bottle of water.

Okay 5,7
Pros: Clean room, clean and modern bathroom. Good location
Cons: Internet is not working 100% of the time. My neighbor is very noisy after hours but I guess it is just that room, can't blame the hotel for this.
Good 7,3
Pros: What I liked best was that the reception staff made every effort to help me, especially the one who spent a long time on the phone trying to help me locate my delayed luggage from the airport. He was friendly and polite and I appreciated his help a lot. The rooms and facilities were more than adequate for my needs, and the buffet breakfast choice was great. The price was excellent. I'd definitely stay there again.
Cons: Not the hotel's fault, but Centro is not the greatest location in Rio; not the cleanest or most interesting part. Having said that, I felt safe, and saw good nightlife including locals Capoiera dancing in the square.
Okay 4,0
Pros: My plan included breakfast. Breakfast was great because I could enjoy various kinds of cheese, ham, bread, and cakes. The room was traditional because of wooden floor and door.
Cons: There was a bit poor feeling because of small bed, small and no flat TV, no bus tub, and poor bed cover. Wireless internet did not work well because of weak signal.
Okay 5,3
Pros: hotel pep in the counter can speak english well
Cons: the girls in the counter is not so resonsable
Okay 5,3
Pros: Location, breakfast, decor, hotel staff.
Cons: The unusual arrangment of the rooms placed aound the outer edge on each floor with the centre section being completelty open from the top of the hotel to the bottom. This seems to channel noise upward through the open space.
Good 7,7
Pros: Free Wi-Fi internet. Clean and modern. Friendly staff. Good breakfast. Nice located. Not far from subway station. Very good option for carnival and city trip for those who want not to overpay for copacobana
Cons: $review.cons
