Pros:Staff was never rude but I didn't have a credit card with me and even though the car was pre-paid they wouldn't rent the car to me. This wasn't called out on the reservation page at all so added a lot of hassle to the trip.Cons:The company needs to make sure third party reservation sites have the full terms for car rental up on their sites.Reviewed Jan 29 2021

Pros:The staff was very friendly and ready for us when we arrived. I got the 7 passenger vehicle I requested and it was comfortable for all of us adults. I liked the feature that I could pre-pay for a full-tank of gas at current rates that way I didn't have to fret before returning the vehicle making sure the tank was full.Cons:Our rental went smoothly, but another couple arrived at the same time we did. They had not made a car reservation before walking into the rental office...at that time there wasn't a car available for them in Boston. I'm going to make sure I always make reservations in advance.Reviewed Jul 30 2020

Pros:Staff is always super friendly and helpful at this location and the car was really clean.Cons:I wish that Hertz was clearer about dropping off after hours. If you must drop off your car after 10PM, just leave it in the Dollar/Thrifty section on the 4th level. I didn't know about this, and all of the signs there say that Hertz has no dropoff after 10 PM. My car wasn't due until the morning, but I got back at 11:30 PM. So, I left the parking lot - paid the parking fee of $10 bucks and returned the car the next morning, when the agent informed me of the other option - which would have saved me time and money.Reviewed Jun 30 2020

Bad ExperiencePros:nothingCons:Rental cost was ridiculous, but to be fair all cars at Boston were, so had to settle for little compact which wasn't made for anyone over 5'6" tall! At pickup, was told to go to compact area and pick out any car... got there and there was a line of people but not a single car! Eventually here and there a car came in and someone would have to take whatever came. I asked why there were no cars here, he tried to blame it on the union (how stupid)! Then asked why they won't upgrade to available cars, he said they wouldn't let him. After too long of a wait, I eventually got a car... TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE !!!Reviewed Oct 18 2017

Deceptive advertising to the max.Pros:Pickup and drop off at Boston Airport very convenient. Rental agents very courteous and efficient. Vehicle was clean and in good condition.Cons:The advertised price of the rental is about half the actual price. Make sure to read all of the fine print. I don't mind the legitimate government taxes which are very high being added on but Hertz takes unfair advantage by tacking on a bunch of other fees. Items such as Concession Fee Recovery, Customer Facility charge, Energy Surcharge are not governmental fees and should not be billed separately. They are a normal cost of being in the rental car business and should be included in the advertised price of the rental. Maybe next time they'll want to add on fees for their telephone and electricity use. Next time I'll look for a more honest auto rental company.Reviewed May 30 2017

Predatory selling practices!!Pros:The customer service was great, particularly at vehicle drop off. Please call me for further feedback on my negative comments 8148809959Cons:I am quite angry about the predatory selling practices and results of my reservation and intend to file complaints with Hertz, carrentals.com, and the better business bureau. I explicitly requested a rental from Boston Logan international airport, no doubt. While I acknowledge that the receipt of my order confirmed a reservation for Allston, as a traveler, I had no way of recognizing that I was purchasing a reservation for a different location than I had requested, since at no point was I given an indication that "hey we found a nearby location with a lower rate" nor has I indicated I was interested in other locations, as is the practice with flights. Instead, I was completely duped into creating a travel itinerary that I couldn't afford, and a reservation at a location that I was unable to get to. I planned this trip with a budget in mind, and was left with no option other than to upgrade and double the cost of my vehicle rental at the point of pickup least I be stranded with no mode of transportation. For me in this particular instance, it was an ugly ending to a successful and very carefully orchestrated day of extremely challenging travel, flying alone with my two year old daughter, one month old son, large double stroller, two carseats, and an oversize hardtop suitcase. It was physically impossible for me to retrieve my vehicle registration at the location my reservation had been made for. My only option was to pay more than twice the cost and spend an hour on the phone with Hertz Intentional, resulting in missing more than half of the event which I had spend extra money purchasing an earlier flight to attend. For a number of reasons, I find this practice to be predatory in nature and an industry practice which has become standard and, left unchecked, leaves room for individuals to be left with no recourse other than to pony up money which, when factored into my travel planning, is likely to have prevented me from choosing to make this trip. Instead I am an extra $250 in debt and spent an extra $125 on a flight to attend an event I basically missed. Here are the problems I see and why u believe Kayak has the responsibility and ability to address these concerns: -The desk agent told me "this happens all the time." This indicates that, at the very least, this happens to dozens of travelers access the country every day. -This also indicates that at some level, Hertz and other rental companies are aware that this is happening, but they refuse to honor the quoted price nor make any concession or accommodation to make it work for the traveler. -The car rental company and the third party vendor are both reaping the financial reward while passing the buck on the blame, both to each other and to the victimized traveler. -You would never attempt to book a traveler for a flight to or from a different airport without making explicit acknowledgement of the change in location. Why is it ok to do this with a rental car? -Kayak should set the standard as thereputablethirdpartyvendoriseemtohaverunoutifroombuthavemoretosayReviewed Jun 28 2017

If I could give zero stars, I would!Pros:Absolutely nothing.Cons:The lady at the counter was very rude. I had reserved a specific vehicle class (and pre-paid the week before) and it wasn’t available, which she didn’t even bother to let us know before giving us keys, much less apologize that my reservation meant nothing. The first vehicle had body damage on the front. The second one didn’t start. The third had a broken headlight. Each time we returned with the unusable keys, she shrugged and told us a new stall number, not even pretending to be concerned or apologetic. We asked about other vehicles in the lot and were told they didn’t have keys for them. (Not sure how they got there, or how there was a specific “we don’t have keys for them” area of the lot...pretty incredible, if you ask me.). Never once were we offered an upgrade or any other options, even though we heard her offer an upgrade (to a car we had already asked about and been told was not an option) to another customer who didn’t even ask. A terrible experience. When I called Hertz corporate the next day, it took 45 minutes to get to a real person. They were unable to help me, and o spend the next hour being transferred around to many OTHER people who were also unable to help me. I was never even able to get a hold of anyone at the branch we had rented from. When we returned the vehicle, I asked to speak to a manager...nowhere to be found. The employee tried to call her to come to the desk...her phone was sitting on the counter next to him. Zero help. Worst rental experience ever. Never going back.Reviewed Oct 14 2017
