Cons: Sadly, this “inn” is not much more than a glorified motel. There are minimal facilities outside your room. Breakfast is served on a tray in your room, two small communal area or the rooftop terrace (weather providing) which wasn’t particularly pleasurable. Staff good but nothing special. This place really doesn’t know what it is. And at $350 for a night, I would expect something specially. We did not receive anything special during our stay.

Cons: What I liked and what I found needed work on for me to call this truly a very fine hotel is......I've stayed at wonderful Hotels and not so wonderful . This is a lovely Hotel, very clean, great views and wonderful breakfast served in our room for no extra charge by very kind staff. The housekeeping staff were great. I loved when staff came around and offered turn down service that evening. Then there's a but......when we got to the hotel we weren't sure exactly where to park our car to go in and register and no one ( no valet outside where you're supposed to pull up at the hotel and be assisted for checking in) was readily available as you would expect at such a fine hotel. We waited in our car for almost 10 minutes before just deciding since no one was there ( valet) to go in to the hotel and find out about registering and parking our car. I assumed the valet would park our car and someone would assist us right away but, not exactly what happened. So this is it....we had a lovely stay and the hotel was lovely , the staff very friendly but, there are areas that need working on considering this hotel is supposed to be a very fine hotel !! I will definitely try it again. Loved the view from our room

Cons: The staff on being greeted at the front desk are positively rude. They ignored me - kept saying "just a minute" when I tried to ask a question. I was embarrassed as I was with family who wanted to see the hotel. They didn't have uniforms - very casual in attitude & dress. There was an open box of something on the floor behind the desk & a plastic bag. One member of my family said the original owner would be turning over in his grave. I was woken up at 4 am by what sounded like a dumpster being dropped from a great height & shouting - after paying all that money, I had a lovely view of a parking lot. When I complained, I got a shrug. When I insisted, I was given a new room in the building across the street, which was very beautiful, but also noisy starting early in the morning. I went to the front desk to ask about the trash removal schedule & was greeted with an eye-rolling "so what's wrong with this room?" REALLY?? I mean, seriously? I think a little re-training may be in order at this beautiful hotel. What a disappointment - I left a night early.

That said, the hotel is so central that I doubt any rooms will have a view, other than the main road.

Cons: Check in. Room reservation was not found when we checked in. Very very VERY frustrating. We had only one issue and it was a HUGE pain. When we arrived at the hotel late in the evening they had no record of our booking. This is not the first time this has happened with using booking.com. They had no room for us had to give us a different room and by morning our reservation came through. Now this did work out but again it was very frustrating as I'm standing there with my 3yr old at 1am and they're telling me I do not have a room.

Pros: Great location, beautiful hotel but more importantly fantastic customer service. Our room was not ready at check-in and we were willing to wait a few minutes. In under 15 minutes they had us checked in and gave us vouchers for free drinks and appetizers at the hotel restaurant. The breakfast buffet was scrumptious (at Swap Fox) and had a great selection. Plus it conveniently had a Starbucks on site. Will definitely be back!

Cons: It's a lovely old landmark location, but it's showing it's age. I'm very fond of the place, but I would probably opt for one of the many newer nearby luxury hotel options if a deep discount wasn't available.

Pros: Staff was very friendly. Elevator was always quick.
Cons: I reserved a king room with balcony months in advance but it wasn't available for us. We were given a room with two queens. The lighting in the bathroom was too harsh...take it down a notch.

Pros: This hotel is in a great location; walking distance to everything! Its been newly renovated so its auper clean and the beds sleep amazing! Will be my top pick the next time we are in Charleston.

Cons: Having to pay $27 to park ONE night! It was an unexpected cost that was not relayed at the time of booking. Ridiculous! I will not be booking here again because there are other hotels near that do not charge to park.

Pros: The staff and location were terrific. The hospitality area with a small reception in the afternoon was a nice plus, with comfortable furniture and a fun selection of board games.

Pros: The staff was very nice and accomodating during the COVID 19 outbreak. Location is perfect as you can be south of Broad in minutes on foot. Lovely old homes and waterfront! I am staying here again in October

Pros: The staff and location were terrific. The hospitality area with a small reception in the afternoon was a nice plus, with comfortable furniture and a fun selection of board games.
Cons: I was disappointed in the cleanliness. There were stray hairs on the wall of the bathroom and in the tub, and the floor molding behind the door looked like it hadn't been cleaned in quite some time.

Cons: Everything could have been better, DISGUSTING !!!! Was not told till time to pay the $20 a day parking fee. This by far was the worst I have ever stayed in.

Cons: For $---/night the least you can offer are clean sheets. My friend's sheets had what looked like blood stains and there was hair all over her bed. Towels stained too. I would rather stay somewhere further for better quality. This is a rip off.

Cons: Upon arrival we went to check in and at the front desk was David . He seemed like he didn’t want to be there and was very stressed and short staffed, we were then put in a room that had not been cleaned and no sheets on the bed and trash all over it. When I went back to share the news he began to curse and slam things on the desk. He said “I’ve stayed at crack houses nicer than this” which may I ask is lovely to hear when about to stay. The second room we were given the tv didn’t work and I didn’t dare go back up to the front desk because I didn’t want to set him off again. The only thing good about the hotel is it’s location. Very poor experience and will not be returning.
