Cons: The room was stuffy and the fan was noisy so couldn’t sleep. Door frame looked dirty at bottom. The ashtray needed emptying outside the room. We got blocked in the car park by another car. Breakfast items were bland and soggy. And the location was much further out than the blurb made us aware.

Pros: The White Swan must be one of the best places to stay in Stratford and ticks all the boxes. Being able to step outside the door and immediately find yourself at the heart of everything is a great advantage. This is a hotel that likes to look after its customers and when the lift was out of order, they softened the blow by providing some complimentary drinks.

Bar area is warm and welcoming and serve a lovely draught cider. Lift wasnt working but they provided a complimentary drink in the bar as a way of apology. Would stay again.

Pros: The old part of the hotel is beautiful with plenty of character and period features, the location is also great in terms of walking distance to Shakespeare's birthplace, bars and restaurants. The lift was out of service when we were there so the hotel gave us a voucher for a free drink each at the bar which was nice of them. The lady on reception could not have been more helpful and informative - she gave us a new room after problems with our initial room and it just so happened to be an upgrade to a room in the old part of the hotel! Period features galore and a copper roll top bath!

Cons: It would be difficult to say there was anything really, apart from the fact that the breakfast could have been a bit hotter, but that's probably just nit picking! My husband complained about the creaking stairs, but what else would you expect from a hostelry allegedly frequented by the great bard himself!

Cons: Not any fault of the hotel but parking is a bit of a niggle, however that goes for all places in the centre of Stratford. Grove parking is best option at £7 for 24 hours and its only round the corner.

Cons: Our initial room (standard room) was pretty cramped, the view was of a huge air conditioning unit on the roof, and upon entering the room there was a strong smell of damp. The carpet didn't seem to have been hoovered properly as there was still hair on it and the room looked a bit worn out. Also the room felt drafty and the air con didnt warm up. When I went to reception to ask about the a/c and damp smell, the receptionist gave us a new room without us asking (thank you!) and it was a beautiful upgraded room - for the air con it turns out that it needs to be set to heating instead of a/c from reception which we did via room phone. The breakfast in the morning was free and there was plenty of options but service seemed very slow despite not many of us being there - maybe they were short staffed, waited a long time for our rack of toast (it came when we had pretty much finished our full English) and then a long wait for soy milk for the tea/coffee, when the English breakfast came it wasn't great - scrambled eggs tasted weird, beans not very flavourful and the sausage quite greasy. Other people ordered eggs benedict and that did look nice.

Pros: The location of the property is excellent if visiting the RSC Theatre found just across the road. There are lovely riverside walks and plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. There is a lovely terrace for outside dining in fine weather. On checking in, staff were very helpful and actually showed us to our room. The decor and facilities in the room (superior room) were very good with complimentary bottled water and fresh milk in the fridge. Bathroom was spacious and very clean with lovely fluffy towels and bathrobes. Luxury toiletries were provided along with shower cap, nail file, cotton wool and sewing kit. Hospitality tray had a good selection of teas, drinking chocolate and ground coffee for the cafetière provided. There were also biscuits and apples. The bed was extremely comfortable and a turndown service in the evening, when hospitality tray was refreshed. The guest only lounge had direct access to the Riverside terrace (not quite riverside as you have to cross the road to be able to see the river), and the restaurant, No44, is a pleasant area, also with access to the terrace.

Cons: We found the restaurant to be reasonably busy at lunchtime. At 12.45, we ordered a couple of dishes from the tapas menu, one of which wasn’t available so we had to choose an alternative dish. Service was quite slow even though we had made it known we had a taxi booked for 13.30 and were assured there would be no problem. Both of the dishes we ordered were cold dishes, but these took 25 minutes to come out giving us only 15-20 mins to eat. In the evening, we had a table booked for 19.45. On arrival at the restaurant, there were only a handful of people eating and and the place was lacking atmosphere. On viewing the menu, although there were some nice sharing dishes, we found the actual a la carte menu to be very limited and also quite expensive (£10 for a prawn cocktail starter). We decided to go elsewhere and tried to get the attention of the staff to let them know, but they were busy chatting amongst themselves. Breakfast the next morning was slightly disappointing. There was a good selection of items on the Continental buffet which we really enjoyed but hot food is cooked to order. We both ordered a full English breakfast, one with poached and one with scrambled eggs. Poached eggs were hard and the scrambled eggs were grey and dry - far from appetising. As breakfast is charged at £20 a head if not on the inclusive tariff, we were surprised that something as basic as egg cookery was less than perfect. These are only minor issues and have not really been reflected in my overall scoring. We had a lovely stay and will definitely return.

Pros: My son and I were on a Triumph TR6 weekend in Stock-on-Trent I had look at several places and church farm barns look good it turned out to be the best place we could have stayed great staff, great location, nice and quite with the hot tubs, if you required them just the place to be at with a 1970 Triumph TR6 would highly recommend

Pros: Through absolutely no fault of the owner/operator of the Barns, our stay was moved to the nearby Burnside Hotel. Met at our car and led into the lobby of the Burnside, the welcome was warm and genuine, being introduced to Minty and her staff. Shown to our suite, the room was plush, comfortable and finished to a very high standard with excellent shower facilities. Having experienced the bountiful selection at breakfast of freshly cooked items, pastries and fruit, we chose to dine in the restaurant on our 1st and 3rd evenings. The standard of food and service was exquisite with Chef preparing meals worthy of mention in a top London restaurant, whilst the ubiquitous and professional Gervinder tended to our every need with a smile. An easy 20 minute walk into the main town, or £5 taxi ride (for when legs are tired) the location of this hotel is perfect for those wanting to visit Stratford and take in the Shakespeare experience, or make the most of the nearby racecourse. With a level of comfort and luxury that really sets this well thought out independent establishment apart from the larger chains, we have rarely experienced such an immediate sense of relaxation and welcome. Cons: The breakfast room was quite cramped with one large table and it’s a good mile and half walk to the centre of Stratford. The walk was fine in the day but not all of it is lit if you are returning in the dark.

Cons: We were expecting to use the hot tub but were told we hadn’t pre-booked it so it wasn’t prepared - website said nothing about pre-booking. We asked on the first day if we could use it on the second day and were told that we could but again they hadn’t filled it with water. Also the website said all rooms have a tv, ours did not. We were shown where the bathroom was but it wasn’t clear if it was just for us or if the room next door was sharing it. We couldn’t get the window blind to roll back up so the room was dark in the morning. Not many parking spaces, one of our group had to park in the grass verge on the side of the road.

Cons: The only thing that was an issue was we went on the hottest bank holiday, so we did spend as little time possible in the room as it was so hot and stuffy, being an older building (which staff made me aware about) keeps the heat in. Despite this there was a fan and the bar provided us with lots of ice and water in the room (we probably could’ve done with a bigger fan because we were on the top floor and we did leave as soon as we woke up because it was jus too hot to stay in the room).

Cons: The first room we were given the window was sealed shut, so we requested to change rooms to one where we could have fresh air. The common areas eg: landing and corridors were not vacuumed once for the three days that we stayed there and were full of bedding bits and crumbs from plates being left outside room doors, the console table on the landing outside the lift was constantly full of used cups, glasses and bottles it made the place look scruffy. More staff required on check in at busy times the wait was ridiculous because there was only one staff member.

Cons: We were allocated a room and when we walked in to it there were already people in it. This was very embarrassing. We were given another room then another room, Third time lucky but we had requested to be in a quiet room and the people in the next room were very noisy. The bathroom was shabby and the room was not that clean as in cobwebs and dust. The pool is very small and old, not worth using and I had my bathrobe stolen from the changing room. The breakfast is plentiful but tasteless. They use cheap sausages, bacon, cheese and meats. It's not worth the money.

Pros: We had a great room on the ground floor with lots of space. Bathroom had both a bath and decent-sized shower: the shower was great lots of hot water and good pressure. The room and bathroom were very clean throughout our three-night stay. Quite close to the RSC (just over the river) - it takes perhaps as much as five minutes to walk there. the centre of Stratford is only a few more minutes walk. The staff were very friendly.

Check in - Excellent and the hotel kindly changed our room at no extra cost even though it was a mistake made by myself Room - Very very good and clean with the usual coffee / tea / hairdryer etc etc. Super comfy bed with amazing pillows. Sadly due to this my partner had a lack of sleep due to my snoring... Do not think I can blame the hotel for this but take it as you wish :) Staff - Very friendly from check in to bar staff to breakfast to check out. All very polite and cheery. Location - excellent. You could not ask more. Right by the river within 5 mins to the centre. Lovely location Parking - excellent and easy - no issues in respect of previous comments made. Finally Breakfast - Again previous comments have been made re poor food. We both had and enjoyed the breakfast, maybe a little to much cooking but I certainly enjoyed my full English. Overall a very good experience. Would recommend.

Pros: We had a great room on the ground floor with lots of space. Bathroom had both a bath and decent-sized shower: the shower was great lots of hot water and good pressure. The room and bathroom were very clean throughout our three-night stay. Quite close to the RSC (just over the river) - it takes perhaps as much as five minutes to walk there. the centre of Stratford is only a few more minutes walk. The staff were very friendly.
Cons: We have stayed before and have not enjoyed the breakfast. We only has it on our last morning this time and the quality has not improved. The coffee is the worst I have had in Britain in the last few years. The catering is not in-house and I suggest that Pierre of Bistrot Pierre pays and trains his staff better than having the wonderful personalized number plate.

Cons: The staff in the Bear (bar attached to the hotel) were appalling. Refused to serve at 10.20pm despite advertising that they are open until 11pm on a Sunday. He stated that no on head been in all night so they were closing early however there were a table of people already inside drinking !

Pros: Perfect location for walking into town, only a few mins walk to the canal side, RSC, and shops/cafes in town centre.
Cons: Average room, good size, but quite plain, feel like it’s a bit overpriced for just one room and a small bathroom. Shower only ran boiling hot water and could find no way to fix this, so ended up washing hair in sink!

Cons: An extra staff at breakfast would have been good no mugs no hot water for tea no milk for cereals and no bread for toast and no sausages not had a delivery had to ask for all these the staff on where working really hard just needed another body

Pros: It was a lovely big room and very quiet. The bed was very comfy and there was plenty of coffee and tea bags (usually we only get a couple of each). The location was excellent - only 5 min walk to the centre.
Cons: The shower cutrain was not great -old and mouldy.
