Excellent 9,0
Pros: Great location. Lovely room and tasty breakfast. Paul was a super host.
Okay 4,0
Pros: I am always somewhat sceptical when one reads negative hotel reviews, as there is usually some agenda. When the host responds, one can usually see the whole picture and the truth lies somewhere in the middle. Having always worked in the luxury sector, where good service and honest feedback is a mainstay, I always ensure my feedback is truthful. Here goes! I visited Cheltenham on 5th June, to celebrate the birthday of my friend, a well-known businessman in the town. Butlers looked great, central location and good value, so I booked online and advised I would be checking in at 7.00pm latest. On the day, I was at fault, by not leaving the restaurant until 8.05pm and immediately called Butlers, having received a missed call from them. I spoke to the owner Paul who advised me just to ring the doorbell on arrival and check me in. No issues I thought and advised Paul I would be 5 minutes. Not knowing Cheltenham well, it took me slightly longer to walk and I arrived at the hotel at 8.25pm, having already received a slightly more terse phone call en-route. To say, I wish I had captured on camera, the look I received from the owner when I arrived; the pursed lips, the looking one up and down, the disdain! It was straight out of the Fawlty Towers book of hotel management and it was all I could do to stop myself laughing out loud. Upon recovering my composure, I apologised for my late arrival, but was immediately made aware, that I was keeping Paul from his evening ahead. When I asked if Butlers had 24 hour check-in, (most hotels at this price-point have key pad door access), I was told, "At £75 per night, what do you expect?"
Cons: At this point I was keen to get to my room, so wished Paul a good evening, to which his response, looking me up and down again, was, " Looks like you've already started yours. Incredulously, I replied, "I don't drink alcohol" (I used to drink too much in the past, so gave it up). Paul's final riposte was a highly sceptical 'hmmmmmm', a raising of the eyebrows, a turn on his heel and off he went into the night. It's such a shame, as I always do my best to support independent hotels, rather than the big chains and Butlers really is a lovely hotel; great furnishings, comfy bed, excellent location. Sadly, all just let down by such unnecessary rudeness on my visit. Everyone has off days and I hope this was just one of Paul's. I was more than happy to apologise, for arriving late. It will be interesting to see if this independent hotelier has the backbone to do the same?

Excellent 8,0
Pros: Lovely hotel and garden, great location and free onsite parking Host Oliver was very courteous and accommodating
Cons: Attic room small window
Okay 5,0
Pros: Was a little disappointed in all honesty. Noisy road or battle with the noise of the air con. Very hot upstairs. Lacked attention to detail for the price of the weekend.
Excellent 9,0
Pros: A beautiful hotel with a lovely garden. Our room was immaculate and contained everything we needed for our short stay. The trust bar was a lovely little addition. The location is great about a 5 minute drive into town or a 25 minute stroll which we done and thoroughly enjoyed. Overall it was a great stay and we are hoping to come back and book one of the themed rooms.
Cons: Definitely no fault of the hotel but just something to be aware of if booking one of the rooms on the top floor over the summer is that it can be quite hot and stuffy. That being said the room does have a Dyson fan but it just didn't seem to cool the room down enough.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: We had a brilliant weekend at the beaumont House, I definitely recommend the out of Africa room
Excellent 10,0
Pros: The Beaumont Hotel was very comfortable and clean. I would recommend it highly. The staff were very friendly and the rooms were well appointed. The muffins were a nice bonus and I will stay again. Thank you
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Staff very helpful and friendly. Everywhere clean with top quality fitments and planning of rooms, lighting etc. Good advice re an Indian restaurant. Street map provided. Excellent free WiFi. Nice little touches e.g. fresh milk (in mini bar) supplied with tea/cofffee facilities. Hairdryer supplied in room. Large thick towels supplied. Honest bar available in lounge. Tea/coffee available to help yourself in the conservatory. Fee morning newspapers available near dining room. Lovely freshly cooked breakfast. Only 15 minute walk to town centre. Free parking.
Cons: Leaving !

Excellent 10,0
Pros: Our room was excellent. The view from the bedroom was exceptional.
Cons: Everything was excellent, however it was hard to find only one British mains socket in the room. Had to ask for extension cable. Did not eat at the hotel restaurant because it had a small menu selection in my opinion. Hotel could do with a more exciting menu
Okay 4,0
Pros: Restaurant was superb
Cons: Bed was awful
Excellent 9,0
Pros: The hotel and grounds were beautiful. The staff were all so friendly and helpful. The spa treatments were all booked up but the spa itself was clean, modern and comfortable. Loved the food they served, had an afternoon tea picnic (to go), breakfast and dinner in the restaurant. I couldn’t fault it. Bedroom was large.
Cons: Nil
Excellent 10,0

Cons: There was nothing I didn’t like.
Poor 1,0

Excellent 9,0
Pros: Convenient location for local shops and restaurants and for travelling to other local Cotswold attractions. Car park located adjacent to the hotel and shared with other close by residents but we had no problem getting a space. Friendly staff coping very well under the present COVID conditions.
Cons: Thermostatic shower valve isn’t set up properly so doesn’t work as it should in shower (Room 303). Hum coming from air conditioning was annoying in the dead of night. Would have been nice to have a room with a view as we looked on to a courtyard but suppose they can’t all have one. Not to much of an issue as we were out most of the time.
Good 7,0
Pros: Centrally located, nice area, historic hotel, beautiful staircase and parking conveniently close by.
Cons: It is described as a De Luxe room. It is an ordinary room with a king size bed. Bathroom was lacking fittings. There was just one small hook no towel rail. We had to hitch our wet towels over the small radiator. The walk-in shower was lovely but without a handrail. Lighting poor for women who like to make up. Air-conditioning good but the temperature control did not work properly. 24 degrees was really 20 degrees.
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Location, on site parking, nice frontage.
Cons: No availability for dinner in the restaurant…. apparently fully booked even for guests! Bar not open first night. Second night we waited approximately 15 minutes and still not served, despite 2 staff members present in the room, who seemed to be doing their best to ignore us! Garden not open….which was a shame as it looked very nice! Disappointed with the room….expected it to be “grander” considering price paid. No chairs in the room…..had to sit on the bed.
Excellent 8,0
Pros: Overall the hotel was in a very good location, easily acces from the motorway and ease of access into the countryside. The room was spacious and very clean and was quiet although a couple of squeaky floorboards did get a bit annoying, Breakfast was good with plenty of choice of bread, fruit and english. We paid for the holtel car park which was ideal as outside parking was limited. Didn't use the free wifi.
Cons: We arrived earlier than or 3pm check in and went out into the town and when we returned we still had a little wait. IN the booking we mentioned 2 adults and a child but he room wasn't ready with a small bed for the child when we arrived so had to wait for that to be installed and made up.
Excellent 8,0
Pros: The staff were ok but in particular we found Francesca on reception very helpful.
Cons: The breakfast was ok but the scrambled eggs was watery and tasteless. Tried to order a dessert in the dinning room and was advised the restaurant was closed despite seeing several diners in the restaurant.
Excellent 9,0
Pros: all good and very nice stay - would go back
Cons: price of breakfast was a bit too high. We booked a room with bath and didn't get one until we asked for a change so might be worth looking at booking.com offering to make sure this doesn't happen again
Excellent 8,0
Pros: Room. Location
Cons: Hand sanitizers empty beside ground and first floor lift
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Lovely breakfast & very comfortable beds. We highly recommend the Queens Hotel Cheltenham as we are regular guests, fantastic location.
Excellent 8,0
Pros: Location lovely parks and easy walk to town
Cons: I had no knowledge that I would have to pay £15 a night for car parking. Not enough storage in room for two people for a week stay
Good 6,0
Pros: It was a shame that we could not join friends for breakfast and had to eat in our room Air con in our room was very cold which we could sort out. Our friends was very hot and they couldn’t resolve this issue. Other locations I’ve stayed at use a neutral air con setting as part of room prep, surprised this wasn’t the case at Queens
Cons: Tv very hard to use, delay to selecting channels. View of the car park was a disappointment. Lack of capacity at breakfast meant we had to eat in our room.

Excellent 9,0
Pros: Excellent family room and location, free parking, good breakfast, friendly staff, would stay again.
Cons: Nothing.
Excellent 8,0
Pros: Free parking. Short walk to centre. Very nice family business . Quiet room at the back . Very good value for money
Cons: Nothing
Excellent 8,0
Pros: For the type of hotel this is (business stays, etc) it is excellent. All the basic facilities in the room, all clean, all working well. The rest of the hotel is what rises it above your normal B&B, in that the décor, the lounge, the gardens are all well decorated and welcoming.
Cons: Due to Covid-19 restrictions there was a reduced service so it is impossible to give a full judgement. I have nothing bad to say.
Good 7,0
Pros: Nice old house
Cons: The bed was very very hard.
Good 7,0
Pros: Cosy room at the very top of the hotel, very clean and everything we needed, was very hot up there but we were provided with an impressive fan that did the job! Very pleasant stay, value for money and I would go back there
Okay 5,0
Pros: Fundamentals are sound: comfy bed, clean, everything worked. Staff very friendly and efficient.
Cons: Impression from outside not so good. Decor clean but dated. Fine for a working trip, not for a romatic city couples break IF you have luxury expectations. I was fine with it, wife not so much.

Pros: The size of the room was good and the pool was a nice feature. But the view they state online is not worth £30 extra for a small window looking out onto a small section of grass.
Cons: The bed was so soft it swallowed me in and was hard to move around on it. Breakfast was at an exceptional poor standard, not at all worth paying extra for. The coffee was disgusting, I have had better hashbrowns at school dinners, the mushrooms were from a tin and the serving lady was so tight with the portion of beans, you'd think she was worried of food running out. The pastry tasted like it was baked from frozen. I wouldn't't recommend it to anyone!
Good 7,0
Pros: Breakfast was good - recommend ordering veggie sausages way in advanced of when you want to eat them though! The room was large and nicely furnished. The staff were amazing - Luke from the bar was stellar and totally upped the rating of the stay.
Cons: Paid extra for a room with a view - in an area of outstanding beauty you expect something good - that was, at best, lacklustre. Afternoon tea was a little disappointing but the staff were apologetic.
Excellent 8,0
Pros: Location was good and amenities were wonderful.
Cons: Stayed in an adjoining room with another family. Had to request for a change in the bed mattress in the middle of the night as the mattress is so uncomfortable as it is saging. Able to change the followimg day. Booked for the swimming Pool, only to be told on the designated day and time that my my booking is nowhere to be foumd. Quite disappointing really.
Excellent 9,0
Pros: Beautiful location easy nature walks nearby, lovely staff and comfortable bed. Good breakfast!
Cons: We booked a superking bed for 3 but really only fits 2, also they forgot to set up room for 3 but they fixed everything after requested so all resolved well
Excellent 10,0
Pros: Great location and very friendly and helpful staff. Air conditioning in the room was amazing

Excellent 8,0
Pros: The hotel was in a good location and easy to find as being straight off the main road. Not too far away from the Docks which was the purpose of the stay. Breakfast was very relaxed and well organised and being served till midday you never get the mad rush in the mornings! There was a good selection of continental and cooked items, however fresh water had to be requested instead of having a pitcher kept with the cold items. Pitty there was only one type of fresh fruit, think you should offer at least grapes and bananas, not all adults and especially children will want to eat just an apple!
Cons: Being disturbed around 1am by other guests being very rowdy along the corridor, banging their bedroom door and then coming and going for a continuation for two hours or more which resulted in my son waking up. Which resulted in us both having very little sleep and feeling very exhausted in the morning and considering I was driving back to Essex that morning being tired was not a good start to our journey home. Didn't see any point in reporting this to reception as there was nothing that could have been done about it.
Good 7,0
Pros: Easy access. Good ibis standard accommodation
Excellent 8,0
Pros: The staff were really good and nice. I am vegetarian and one of the staff really take care of this and gave a vegetarian breakfast which was really nice.
Cons: All the services are self service. We thought at least toiletries stuff can be delivered at the room but for that also we had to go down straight to the reception and ask for it.
Excellent 8,0
Pros: The room was simple but clean. The shower was pleasantly powerful. Reception staff bright and helpful.
Cons: The hot food counter at breakfast felt a little out of bounds with the way it was set out with the rope and no-one in sight to assist. I understand the covid requirements but it was really off putting. Table service would have been much nicer from a service perspective and probably less wasteful for the hotel too.

Good 7,0
Pros: Ok location
Cons: Poor breakfast with limited choices, tasteless coffee, smaller than normal rooms, expensive parking in the nearby NCP parking
Excellent 9,0
Pros: Staff were very helpful. We had a dog so had to eat in a specific area which was still nice.
Cons: Parking in the area. Although you get a 25% discount at NCP it is still very expensive.
Excellent 9,0
Pros: The room was comfortable and peaceful. Breakfast was tasty and everything felt COVID safe. Price - the room was so reasonably priced and with breakfast included!!
Cons: Biscuits in the room would have been nice!!
Excellent 9,0
Pros: Excellent Value for money. Comfortable lounge.
Cons: Not a lot
Excellent 8,0
Pros: Excellent location, very friendly and helpful staff. Reasonable breakfast. Poky rooms with little storage and air conditioner not working properly - unable to get the temperature below 23C. Staff offered us the possibility to move rooms on the last night but we declined as we didn’t want to have to re-pack and unpack. Had to get new door keycards every one of the 6 days we stayed which was most annoying, staff changed the door battery on the last day.
Excellent 8,0
Pros: everything
Cons: everything
Excellent 8,0
Pros: Good breakfast, could have been warmer, but fine. The reception staff were great. Dining room, not so much.
Cons: The keys were a bother, had to keep coming down 5 floors to get new ones, turned out on our leaving, the battery needed changing. No street map available on request

Excellent 8,0
Pros: The staff were very nice Julie was particularly attentive... my daughter is dairy and soya intolerant and she went above and beyond, organising for the kitchen to get oat milk on and going over the menu with us ensuring they could cater for her. She checked on us every morning and went and got my daughter a jug of her milk which was lovely. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The rooms were kept very clean and there was always somebody cleaning! The customer service was of a very high standard. It had recently been redecorated beautifully and felt a lot more expensive than it was :) The pool and gym facilities were great too. The location was great and we would definitely use holiday inns again.
Cons: The only thing I could criticise is the time we were waiting for food in the evenings. Every night we waited at least an hour for our starters and we had to ask for starters to be cleared.... between courses we were waiting a very long time. From the third day we ordered all of our food out together and ate dessert in the room as it was too late for the children. The waitresses kindly bought the desserts up to us which was nice though. If it was busy I'd understand the wait but there were only 3 or 4 tables eating at the same time as us each time.
Excellent 9,0
Pros: Dinner was very good and spa staff very helpful.
Cons: Jacuzzi was not working, hair dryer in changing room broken and drier not working.
Excellent 9,0
Pros: Very good breakfast & dinner worth of money I paid
Cons: Excellent
Excellent 8,0
Pros: Breakfast was good with a good range of food.
Cons: Didn't like having to book a table. And no muesli!
Okay 5,0
Pros: I liked the clean room and the house keeper and gym facilities.
Cons: When we’re check in. It was Sunday afternoon the guy who assisted us wasn’t friendly and being rude when he talk to us.
Good 6,0
Pros: Room comfortable and what I expected. Room clean and tidy.
Cons: Evening meal, was told steak was fresh but obviously frozen......pretty awful to be honest, will not eat there again.
Okay 5,0
Pros: No hassle in or or easy to find
Cons: Small things like dirty curtains and dusty sides.. poor workmanship on the bathroom taps! Broken and half fixed..
Excellent 9,0
Pros: Location was great for us as a stop over to break up a long drive, just on the edge of the motorway.
Cons: A little dated and needs a good refurbishment but nothing than affected our stay

Excellent 9,0
Pros: All good! Great stuff! Nice SPA facilities
Cons: Reception not attended during late hours
Mediocre 3,0
Pros: Bed was very comfy
Cons: Needs a make over. Arrived at 1.50 and told we had to wait until 2pm.... joke
Mediocre 3,0
Cons: Food was good but that’s about it. Rooms were pretty dirty! Staff in the hotel were nice but staff in spa were unfortunately quite huffy. Hotel in general needs some love and care / refurb.
Okay 5,0
Cons: We waited ages for somebody to come to reception to check in - a very miserable cleaner barked to us that our room key was in the key safe!! The room was not clean - previous guests towel behind the chair in the room so hadn't even been hoovered properly. Looks amazing on the pictures but in reality very tired.
Okay 5,0
Pros: Nice gardens and had a great massage lady
Cons: No cups in the rooms just paper ones!!! What rubbish said it was because of covid but I slept in the sheets and they washed them! Had cups at breakfast!!! Pool was closed all weekend no compensation Staff were very slow and a bit hit and miss
Okay 4,0
Pros: Staff were friendly and helpful
Cons: Room was small and dates, we could hear everything from the rooms either side and our view of the flat roof wasn’t the magical experience we were hoping for.
Mediocre 2,0
Pros: I liked the breakfast.
Cons: The pool was closed, the cleanliness was poor - overflowing bin in the main ladies toilets, and the chef would not swap sautéd potatoes with new potatoes, which I subsequently left, meaning my meal was just fish. Tacky electric candles and fake plants on the dinner tables meant that you didn’t feel you were staying in a 4* hotel. Also, one menu on a table did not really match the number of guests that were seated. Moreover the hotel is meant to be nestled in 32 acres which I was looking forward to exploring. However, you could barely walk around the hotel, and even if you wanted a drink outside there were only four tables for the whole hotel!! Our room was ok, although didn’t have a fan in the bathroom which meant you’d get very hot and steamed up after a shower. Also the neighbours kept us awake till 1:30 with banging of the doors and loud voices. Very disappointing stay overall and I would not go back. I would not recommend this hotel at all.
Okay 5,0
Pros: Breakfast was typical of a Hotel in the UK, it was adeqate. The Spa area would seem to be relatively new (say 5-10 years old) The general atomsphere with thr grounds out front, seemed relaxed and unpressured - we were blessed with sunshine and great weather for sitting outside and wandering around the lawns.
Cons: It is extremely difficuilt for the whole of the Hospitality industry. So it seems harsh to judge a Hotel and it's team. But there are so many great examples of Hotels, Pubs and Restaurants doing terrific work, adapting. Their versatility is impressive. But that's not the case at Hatherley Manor on the night we spent there. We arrived to long queues at reception and questions that ticked a box rather than genuinely informing a policy. Then we had an Afternoon Tea on the Terrace, but it was becoming clear that there were insufficient numbers of staff and that the pressure of extra work on those who were working was tough. So standards were far less than I expect the Management would have wished for. The Spa area was nice and seemed clean. But the Pool was closed awaiting an Engineer to arrive and repair it. The bar had a good range of bottled beers, but the draught offer was limited. Our room seemed like a standard room, around 20 to 25 years old (possibly more) - nothing whatsoever like any of the photographs (those rooms seemed to look quite pleasant) - the room we'd booked was called "Executive" , these descriptions are always open to interpretation, but I 'd presumed (wrongly it would seem) that "Executive" meant it would be better in some way. More long queues in the morning, firstly to enter the dining room for Breakfast, then for Reception (booking out). I completely understand how difficult it is for Hotels to be re-opening after lockdown, etc. But I am almost sure that the owners / managers of Hatherley Manor would aspire to something better. It would be easy to improve if they simply endeavoured to adopt some of the "best practice" that can be seen at other venues. - Good luck, I wish you well.
Good 7,0
Pros: Nice stay at the Spa hotel, food was good but you can certainly tell when the head chef is working, amazing!! No problem with our little girl being with us all week. Stayed in room 242 above the spa, lovely room with the balcony and we had a fridge and a fan to cool the hot nights down.
Cons: Pool was dirty but they closed it on our last day to clean it, so you can’t argue with that.
