Pros: Very nice looking (marble, chandeliers, etc.), lots of amenities. Large rooms. In the heart of downtown. Good bar in the hotel lobby restaurant.
Cons: Not good value IMO. It was nice but there were several disappointing things in our short stay (see below) that I would have expected better considering the price. Service was prickly and unfriendly. The rooms were well appointed and large but I didn't find the value paying 3x for them. Pretentious... too fancy for me. Not a bad thing just know what you're getting. As an example, there's a harp player in the main lobby. One of the two bathroom sinks leaked at the handle and the sink didn't drain. It would have been obvious to housekeeping as there was standing water in the bowl but they didn't offer to fix it. I didn't complain because we were only there 2 nights and just used the other sink. Got coffee in the lobby restaurant...it was the worst coffee I've ever had. Smelled and tasted terrible. All of these things are relatively minor but for a huge price premium I expect a premium experience and didn't get it. I'll stay at a Double Tree or something comparable next time I'm in SLC.

Pros: Good location, Room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was decent. Amenities were respectable. Parking was good.
Cons: Wireless internet was poor at best. Contacted their tech support whose solution was to log in to the router and kick other people off the network, which did not help. Both upon my arrival and upon my departure a police officer was stationed in the lobby with his squad car in plain sight just in front of the entrance. Any hotel that feels the need to have a uniformed police officer (not a security guard) at their property with that kind of regularity, causes me concern that the hotel is unsafe. For this reason alone I will not stay at this hotel again.

Pros: The front desk staff was very friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was very adequate. The location was very central. This is a very adequate , basic, comfortable place for family or travelers on a budget. Nothing fancy or luxurious, but a very clean, quiet, centrally located hotel with a very adequate wholesome breakfast. Good value for the money.

Pros: The room was very comfortable, especially the beds . It was was clean. There was plenty of room to spread out.

Pros: The hotel staff was friendly and gave helpful advice on local places to eat and even printed out MapQuest directions. The rooms were large and comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was great with a nice selection and plenty of food to fill you up. We enjoyed the pool and the hot tub. Even though you are downtown, the airport is only a 5 minute drive away.
Cons: My husband was concerned about a homeless shelter a block away but we never had any trouble.

Pros: From water with some fruits at the lobby to housekeeping job, we could tell this place really care about their customers. Pros: I felt that the room was very clean and spacious, with a simple but stylish decor. The price was also much more reasonable than other hotels in the downtown area, as there was no major fluctuation between the weekend and daily rates.
Cons: The continental breakfast was subpar, despite being hyped upon check-in as one of the hotel's best features. I also had issues connecting to the internet, and had to cycle through several different networks before finally staying connected.

Pros: Nice enough place. Good pool. Rooms clean.
Cons: Overpriced in the summer. Staff lied to me about room availability. Had booked the rooms for a week and then received an invoice the second morning. Was told nothing was available and they were sorry. Then I booked a room online and the staff proceeded to give me attitude. Breakfast setup in a way that it can't accommodate the number of guests. Parking lot is a hangout for homeless folks. Stayed there many times in the last few months but will never go back.

Cons: I was unable to go.......but my friend and her "special needs" son went......original 3 I had booked the room for. When arriving, Jarred had to use the restroom and the "clerk" was VERY rude and unfriendly. Sheryl asked if there was a public restroom and the clerk asked "Are you a guest?".........well she had a suitcase........rude, rude, rude.........they were never greeted or acknowledged the rest of the weekend.............so NO, I won't be staying there

Pros: They were very accommodating and friendly. They considered our needs and gave us what we needed. We had to change our booking because we had to bring a 2 year old with us and they gave us extra space with an extra charge. Their hot breakfast was very tasty and varied daily as to content. If there was a problem, they were on top of it immediately. I would stay there again.

Pros: Lobby, sundry shop, room, pool & hot tub, sauna. Close parking. Made use of all of it. Hot tub is indoors, but has great vantage point into the world outside. Room was great: just nothing in particular I need to say about it. :)
Cons: Nothing about the place made me unhappy.

Pros: The location is great - within walking distance to Temple Sq. and Main St., though the environment seemed a bit shady with a couple of homeless ppl just outside the hotel. The staff was very nice and helpful. The breakfast was awesome! Way beyond what I had expected.
Cons: Upon registration, the hotel didn't have my booking info from getaroom.com, and it took them quite a while to fetch it. I've heard it's not uncommon with this website, so I suggest to book with other ones.

Pros: This hotel was perfect for our 2 night stay! Room was clean, modern, and well maintained, not to mention very spacious. Beds were extremely comfortable!! Service was friendly and helpful and the hotel is very centrally located and easy to find. Free breakfast was a nice perk. Our room was on the 3rd floor, north side, and was nice and quiet. Great value, I would definitely stay here again.
Cons: While Wi-fi was free and available in rooms (and lobby), it didn't work very well. Pool/gym area is rather small, however I wasn't expecting one at all so I wasn't disappointed.

Pros: The hotel itself is nice. It's comfortable, clean. Seems best for business or couples. The indoor pool was fun with a city view.
Cons: We had a few problems with our room upon arrival. Online we had booked a room with a sofa bed, and the microwave/fridge. The room they gave us had no sofa bed for our kids, so they switched us to a room with no fridge/microwave. The staff weren't very friendly. When asking questions about breakfast, facilities, getting extra blankets and pillows etc. they were rude and treated us as if we were being incovenient with all these "silly" questions. The pillows were miserable! Down and feather pillows provide no support so it made sleeping on a nice mattress difficult.

Pros: The beds are comfortable.
Cons: Shilo In is under construction. Do not stay here unless you absolutely have to. The front lobby is cold, the parking is behind the Shilo Inn (you have to walk around the block to access the parking). Construction in the building is from 7am - 7pm (noisy and don't even try to sleep in). After I got to the Shilo Inn, is when I realized how much work is being done, and I still paid full price.

Pros: I liked the complimentary breakfast served in a large dining area. Even with the large crowd, the breakfast crew were able to keep up with plenty of bacon, eggs, biscuits, and gravy.

Pros: The buffet breakfast had a good variety from day to day and was so convenient.
Cons: I booked a year in advance with Elite Status Priority Club status and was told when i checked in at 3:30 in the afternoon "all we have left is the second floor". The room was by the laundry room. We could hear the spin cycles all night long. It was also near some kind of outside air vent that sounded like a jet engine every time it turned off and on. It's one thing to get "the loud room" for a last minute booking, but disappointing when I booked a year in advance.

Pros: It was clean and centrally located.
Cons: TL;DR We were overcharged for the room. The room was dark and tiny. We were "upgraded" to a smaller, darker room. Don't stay here. Paying via priceline was $40 more than the hotel website advertised. On a night when the hotel was nearly empty, we were given an awkward corner room that was poorly lit and the size of a closet. Front desk was nice enough to "upgrade" us.... to a smaller and darker yet equally uncomfortable corner room. The robes were threadbare, faded leopard print, and gross. It was so terrible that we questioned whether we were on Candid Camera. I've been a lifelong Kimpton devotee but never again. There are so many great hotel options in SLC. Don't waste your time or money here.

Pros: Staff was unbelievably attentive. When they say, “If you forgot something at home, we’ll get it for you”, they went beyond any expectation I could have had. Not once, but twice. Restaurant Bombara is a top class place, a play that other hotels should follow. Put a great place to eat under your roof. Don’t make it solely about margins for the overall hotel. Bring in a motivated exec chef to do something special.
Cons: 5th time in the hotel over 6 years. Still looking for what I don’t like

Cons: Girl that checked us in put us in the wrong room and when told did it again. I went back to wrong room, called hotels.com and miraculously the correct room opened up! Yeah for hotels.com

Pros: It was good. We only stayed for one night. It was nice that the pool was open for such long hours. The continental breakfast had a good selection.
Cons: The room fee to cover any damages I thought was a little ridiculous upfront. Everything that I had read from book ahead of time read $90 and I was charged $100 (I understand it is refunded). I think that maybe that needs to be less because you always have the persons information and can charge more later if there are damages.

Cons: The elevators were broken and we were not informed about it after waiting for a long while with all of our luggage we decided to use the stairs. I understand things happen but a common courtesy would have had front desk tell us and offerd any help with our luggage. My neighbors were very loud and obnoxious how ever I did not call lobby which is my fault but possibly having security do a walk through through the halls at night would be a good idea for this hotel.

The pool looked nice as well. Definitely would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling through Salt Lake.

Pros: There are a ton of sketchy folks roaming the area but they had a well lit parking lot and it's just far enough off the main drag to reduce above mentioned folks. My concern was for a haul trailer full of tools. It is a great stopover point on a cross country trip, close to the freeway with plenty of parking and good amenities. The room was great too.
Cons: It didn't have a complimentary breakfast as many in the price range do, but I didn't care since I left very early. There are plenty of other amenities that makes up for it.

Pros: My room was very comfortable, upscale even. The fireplace was nice, the shower was phenomenal.
Cons: After I had been in my room for a few hours, there was a knock on my door. It was someone else who had been checked into my room. He went on his way and about fifteen minutes later, I got a call from the front desk who were clearly confused about who I was and why I was in the room they had checked me in to. After that had been resolved, I called down to front desk to reserve a spot on the airport shuttle. After a slightly awkward conversation, she took down my name and room number and told me I was good to go. When I went down the next morning for my shuttle reservation, I was told the shuttle had left without me because I wasn't on the list.

Pros: I liked the room I stayed in. It was a one bedroom suite. It had a little kitchen, dining area and living area. The closet was big. It felt like an apartment. It was well decorated. I loved that there were dishes and cooking utensils. Plus a dishwasher. Bathroom was a good size also.
Cons: It would have been so much better if they'd had a indoor hot tub. I didn't get to swim in the pool because it was outdoors and it was closed. I didn't love having to pay $10 for parking every night also.

Pros: The breakfast was delicious, rooms were spacious and clean. We love the kitchenette and updated appliances. We stayed on a busy weekend but it was not too crowded or loud.
Cons: Location was close to many things but not a great view. The breakfast was delicious but availability of food items varied, possibly due to a large group that was staying that weekend.

Pros: Love the location, very close to Salt Palace. The pool area was also nice.
Cons: Not worth the price for anything other than location. Bathroom was pretty dirty, the room was nothing special. Our mini fridge was leaking when we checked in and the floor was wet. They sent a new one right up which was great. I wish the floor elevators went straight to the parking garage. It was mediocre for my expectation of a 4 star hotel.

Pros: The room was clean and neat, had everything we needed.
Cons: If you're a young couple I'd advise you to try a different place. My fiancé and I are 20 and 21 so we're very young and there was no one there around our age in the slightest. Which for me usually would not have been a problem except for how the lobby was so beautiful yet smelled like an retirement home, and to the point it was so overwhelming I got a headache because of it. And anyone who knows me personally knows I love old people but the hotel is more so fitted to an older age group. Also the rooms were very small for what I paid for. On top of that I originally booked a room with a King bed I was told my room was not cleaned yet mind you it was almost 5pm. So the lady at the front Desk said she'd "upgrade" me to a two queen room with a balcony and a "view". WRONG our room was facing the back of a building, no view whatsoever. Overall if your in your 20s I don't recommend this hotel unfortunately.

Pros: The room was clean and updated, needs an updated tub though. The bed was comfy and tv was big.
Cons: The tub and shower were not as clean as the rest of the room; would have liked a more updated and bigger tub. There was a dog that kept barking, I understand the hotel is pet friendly but it was annoying because it barked for a long time at night and again early morning. Maybe get thicker walls or something to muffle the sound? Also heard room cleaning and vacuum very early above us.

Pros: I love how this motel is right near a tram stop. At check-in, the man at the desk -- I think his name was Mark -- was friendly and helpful. Since I had arrived by public transit, I needed to locate a restaurant I could reach on foot. He told me exactly how to walk to the nearest family-dining restaurant. The motel is also within easy walking distance (about a half-mile) of many fast-food restaurants, a 7-Eleven, and an independently owned convenience store. The only time I needed a cab was when I left for the airport at 3:30 a.m. During usual day/evening hours, the tram goes to the airport.
Cons: The faucet in the bathroom had been installed incorrectly so that turning the one-handle faucet to the right produced hot water and turning it to the left produced cold water. I coped, but it was confusing. Also, every time people walked past my second-floor room, I could hear and feel the walkway shaking. Sometimes it felt like a small earthquake. This must be some structural fault.

Cons: - Floors were so dirty, they were never swept of cleaned. I wish I brought my own house slippers. It was disgusting! - Upon arrival, the coffee maker still had coffee in it. Housekeeping must have missed that detail...I requested another twice b/c they forgot to bring it the first time. The second time, the coffee maker arrived by way of an irate woman who made it seem like an inconvenience that she had to bring it to my room. On top of this, the one she brought was still DIRTY. I gave up and decided to buy my coffee off-property and that was an inconvenience to me. - Pillows were dirty and sheets felt unclean. To confirm my suspicion there were a pile of pillows at the hall by the elevators, they were all unbagged and just left there for everyone to see. Pretty gross to think that the pillows we put our heads on are just thrown on the floor only to be re-covered by linens when they had been touching dirty floors all day.

Cons: Thought it was closer to downtown so I could walk back and forth but city blocks are long in SLC so shuttle and cab was still needed. Room needed some maintenance updates like light bulbs and toilet.

Cons: The tininess of the business center even though it works just fine for me.

Pros: We got a free room upgrade. We thought we could hear a puppy whimpering next too us, turns out it was a couple being really loud having sex. Needless to say we just mentioned to the attendant the noise and he gave us a better room. Great customer service, kind experience from all staff, and a great location
Cons: Have oatmeal as an option for free breakfast?? Certainly it’s cheaper than a full meal of eggs, beacon, pancakes etc...

Pros: Very comfortable bed and pillows. Wish I could find the same stuff for my own house! Also, a great breakfast!
Cons: TERRIBLE internet. I was asked to pay 10 dollars for internet that never got over a 40% connection, and couldn't stream even a 480p video without stopping to buffer every few minutes. A huge disappointment. Also, you could tell some maintenance things have not been done...one plug was missing an outlet cover, rusty vents in the shower, basic things like that took away from an otherwise pristine feel.

Pros: The best thing was the front desk worker Paige who assisted me check in. She was kind, personable, and extremely helpful.
Cons: The rug in the room had animal fur all over in it and bits of food. The shower was dingy and full of hairs. There was no sheer curtains in the room so I was stuck with the curtains closed the whole time. The room clearly had been “updated” recently but it seemed to be half hazardously done and corners cut.
