The drying room was a bonus and there were numerous tools available to make repairs. The rooms were immaculate with excellent space and hot showers. USB ports were also available on our bunk beds

Pros: It was lovely to see this hotel which we have visited many times, for meals, coffee etc in the past being renovated and loved! It was cosy and very comfortable in the Hotel building despite temperatures of -6 outside!Service and food were fantastic! Overall we loved being here.
Cons: The room was described as accessible which we felt was inaccurate. We had to get to it via a path outside the building which was uneven and there was a step into the room, The shower room was not a wet room and would have been impossible for a wheelchair user. The single bed opposite the TV was very creaky and we both woke every time my .husband turned over in the night. Access to the main building was not easy as there was no hand rail and a high step

Pros: fantastic position, loved the balcony overlooking the fells and the reservoir, bed was cosy and the public rooms and terrace all really good features: good breakfast
Cons: Disliked all the signs eg re bathwater economy ( bit like a boarding house!): we were sorry there was no shower for those not in ensuite rooms, also no washbasins in the public lavatory rooms: had trouble washing or drying my hair in provided facilities ( tried in bath then washbasin, then trying to dry it with the hand dryer was awkward): there was no soap in the public bathroom sinks and they were rather draughty bathrooms: it was a great pity bar meals stopped at 6.30pm esp as good choice and menu: we didn`t want the evening meal and in the end went out to local village Bampton for a meal

Pros: Oh my word how lucky were we to find this hotel. It’s my idea of heaven decor Christmas decorations RAF Paint8ngs relating to previous owners who were Spitfire pilots like my uncles. The views of the hills are to die for. Whoever the chef is! I hope he gets a huge Christmas bonus, absolutely outstanding. The sticky toffee pudding is to die for. The staff are genuinely welcoming and friendly truly lovely waitress we had for our evening meal. My bed was perfect for me, very comfortable just how I like it as I suffer from some spinal injuries. If you like cats and dogs, take some treats as they have both.
Cons: Don’t trust your satnavs to take you the pooley bridge way,. Go into Penrith and out that way.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely staff, great breakfast and a really good price.
Cons: Our room was a little damp around the window, and the bathroom a little cold but these were minor things.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: We were made feel very welcome and we’re well looked after. Bike storage was provided and it was very much appreciated. Would certainly stay again
7,9 Good
Pros: It was good value at £40 for bed and breakfast. The breakfast was excellent, and the owner very friendly and helpful. The bedroom and dining room were generally clean, although there were a few random hairs in the desk draw (and they didn't look to be from ones head) and the TV remote controller needed an antiseptic wipe.
Cons: The room was incredibly small, without even room for a chair, desk or any furniture other than a small bedside table. It did have an ensuite, but this was open plan with the room. The room could do with having somewhere to hang towels, washkit etc. or even just a shelf to place these on. There was nowhere to hang wet towels to dry. The clean towels were placed on the top of the toilet lid, which I didn't like on the basis of hygiene.
7,9 Good
Pros: Breakfast was lovely - owner was very friendly and helpful
Cons: Bed was very uncomfortable... springs poked thru the mattress. Coffee seemed cheap instant in a coffee pot.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Extremely accommodating. Polite informative helpful proprietors. Hearty early breakfast tea and coffee facilities in the room and sofa in lounge to relax. Good size car park.
Cons: A very small drive out of Keswick. But not a problem at all.

Pros: Brilliant winter retreat which our whole family have enjoyed for over 20 years

7,0 Good
Pros: Great location for some excellent walks around Patterdale. Breakfast was included and was excellent. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Very reasonable price for the stay.
Cons: Rooms were a little dated and could do with a spruce up, wallpaper was peeling in places and the bathroom had some mold in it. Mattress was a little too soft and uncomfortable.
6,0 Good
Pros: Staff lovely. Rang when we were on our way there to ask if we wanted to book for dinner that evening which was lovely as there are few facilities in the local area at 8pm!
Cons: Dinner was the fastest I have ever been served. The food must have been kept warm in the kitchen. The Thai Green Vegetable curry was like none I have eaten before , I think they had added the curry sauce to a vegetable stew due to the presence of swede!
7,0 Good
Pros: Good range. Hot food not very hot, waiting service excellent. Plenty of tea and coffee.
Cons: Evening meal was not very good. Cold plates for hot food, starters and cheese board/pudding good but all our main courses could have been better. Fish and chips - had been made a long time before the meal and were therefore soggy, chips totally inedible. Roast pork meat was tasty but all veg was cold, the waitress then gave me a bowl of "hot veg just taken from the steamer" which was even colder than the original portion!! However, the hotel redeemed themselves by not charging us for the bad meals. All of this a pity as staff were excellent, room good and very clean.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable beds, very clean, catered well and food especially good value and wonderful taste, with variety and all ‘homemade’. Warm and cosy
2,0 Mediocre
Cons: Food was very poor
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Clean, comfortable bedroom. Window seat with view of mountains. Excellent breakfast. Friendly staff.
Cons: Decor a little tired in places - mainly carpeting, particularly reception area, stairs and corridors, which could do with a facelift to add to the warm welcome given by staff.

Pros: Everything was well considered and well arranged. Our room was really comfortable, it had a wonderful bay window overlooking an interesting park on a quiet street. The room came with a great array of goodies to try, like home made fresh chocolate biscuits and fruit, and surprises all around the room. The staff were super helpful and took great care to welcome and explain their home and room. The couple clearly work hard to make their guests feel like Royal guests. We had a family room each with a separate bed. We also had a sofa and space in both the room and the bathroom. My father raved on and on about the professional level of food preparation and the ultra fresh fruit on offer with the breakfast. This guest house should be top of your preferences to stay in Penrith, because it is so central, yet so quiet and handy too. We enjoyed our short stay and cannot fault the standards and offer on any level.
Cons: I did not like the fact we paid the same price elsewhere on our trip for a far lower standard. Other guest houses will struggle to match the Albany's excellence. Perhaps the only thing I did not warm to were the pictures of Tuscan countryside houses adorning the walls on my Cumbrian adventure. They did bring sun and colour to the rooms, but my point is that they perhaps celebrated the beauty of other places rather than stunning Penrith and it's beautiful surroundings. I found that funny.

Pros: Short walk to centre of town and bike shop; great facilities; bike store in basement, with drying room; continental breakfast was good; staff very helpful.
Cons: De-humidifier or vent in drying room - massive humidity just created warm/damp/smelly shoes and socks for next day!

Pros: The property was very clean and well looked after. The facilities for cyclists were fantastic with ample parking for the mini bus and secure storage for our bikes. The drying room was a bonus and there were numerous tools available to make repairs. The rooms were immaculate with excellent space and hot showers. USB ports were also available on our bunk beds
Cons: Our party couldn’t really fault the property, but we definitely think cooked breakfast should be available rather than continental option.
