Exceptional comfort, friendly welcome and great food
Wonderful food, staff were friendly and efficient and the hotel is extremely dog-friendly (there’s even a designated area where dogs can sit with you while you eat).
Could not find fault with anything.
Location was excellent for a stop off for our trip north. Room was clean and modern, hotel itself was well laid out. Not the cheapest but a few issues arose for us so for us we wouldn’t stop again.
The food, the menu was not really inkeeping for a motorway services. All the dishes on the menu seem to be comprised of ingredients that just didnt go together. I personally tried Duck leg on a bed of sausage and been casserole, the sauce over powered the whole dish. So if your expecting traditional fayre at this hotel you may be very dissapointed.
We were unable to take breakfast on this, our second visit as we were disappointed on first acquaintance. We only wanted a continental breakfast and were irritated to find that there was no allowance made for the 60+ to eat little in the morning. On our first visit we fell into this trap (a cup of coffee and a piece of toast were VERY expensive) but, on our return from Scotland, we didn't as we wandered over to the service station for a cheap tub of porridge. Otherwise all was very good indeed and we were especially grateful to Hazel, on Reception, who coul dno thave been more helpful with some administration that had to be completed.
See above. Service in the restaurant was very slow; it was 35 minutes from booking time to when we ordered although food did follow very promptly after that. Our plates were cleared but, after waiting for a follow-up menu for 15 minutes in order to order the desert (there were 3 staff and only 5 tables were occupied...), we left and had coffee in the bar instead. Frankly, being very tired after several hours of driving, this was irritating.
excellently located, practical, efficient, and reasonably priced Stand out, The Duty Manager was outstanding In the short period we were there we spotted her supervising the housekeeping staff assisting in the dinning with breakfast, and then checking customers out at the desk A real doer, and all done with a gracious pleasant manner Roger Corbett
