Naples hotels near Galleria Umberto I

Pros: The room is huge, the b&b is in the heart of Naples, I’d totally come back! We felt really comfortable there :) They didn’t speak English but it wasn’t a problem.

Pros: The host and her staff were absolutely wonderful people willing to try their best to make our four day stay pleasant. The location in the heart of old Naples (Centro Storico, just off via Tribunali) is exceptional if you like being in the gritty center of the action, which we do. Not near any Metro stops, one must walk in either direction to catch the Metro, but buses are near. We stayed in room "0" which is a huge double room with a bedroom area adjacent to a sitting area. On hot July days this was a beautiful air-conditioned respite away from the busy neighborhood and city.

Cons: Unfortunately, I must say I was very disappointed in the WIFI. In today's world, many travelers depend on being connected to internet for the varied tasks they encounter. The walls to this building are very thick, using your data is a poor option, so WIFI is important. Mentioned several times to the staff, the WIFI in the room never worked properly to hold a connection, therefore I would have to take my devices out into the lobby/office area to work. The WIFI was never repaired. This is unfortunate and unacceptable since this would have improved our stay. Secondly, in this room their is not an adequate shower. Their is a huge jetted jacuzzi tub which has a shower head wand, however, standing up in the jacuzzi tub is neither easy for showering or safe as your feet stand on a slippery, "wavy" surface. (To be honest, we were given an option to look at a different room prior to choosing room "0", but we liked the roominess of the room and the air conditioner, yet had not experienced the poor WIFI or shower at that point. Finally, although the staff tried their best, the breakfast buffet was limited. Price included breakfast, so one can't complain too much but more fruits could be offered as an improvement, for example. Pastries, packaged meats and plastic-wrapped cheese, and coffee were offered.

Pros: Very friendly and helpful personal. The large room was always super clean and the breakfast a really traditional good italian breakfast (not the cheap standard breakfast like in a lot other hotels). We can only highly recomend the stay there and we will definitly come back!

Cons: The outside from the building looks not good and the side street where it is located neither, but the inside is super clean and beautiful renovated.

Pros: We spent just one night there because our flight next day was early. We had 2 rooms, both of which had beautiful bathrooms. One of the rooms had a balcony overlooking the street. Obviously, in such a central location, it was very loud, but good windows plus earplugs did the trick. The B&B arranged a taxi to the airport for us, which was great.

Cons: We had paid for 2 triple rooms, each with a double bed and a couch. No bedlinen was provided for the couches as they claimed we had only paid for 2 double rooms. Since it was only for 1 night, we didn't bother arguing and got bedclothes and made up the couch beds ourselves.

Pros: The room and bathroom were both very clean, and the room had a balcony with view to Via dei Tribunali. Very good location. About 20 min away from Molo Beverello and Garibaldi train station (different directions). The staff was super friendly and accessible! They let us leave our stuff there after check out. The breakfast was okay, very basic but enough to get us through the morning, nice coffee. We would definitely stay here again.

Pros: A good location in the historical center of napoles, close to everything, good welcome from the owner.

Cons: We stayed two nights, we didn’t receive the room cleaning service..

Pros: Nice guest house, perfect location in the center of the old town. Hosts were very pleasant, but unfortunately they don't speak English at all. Room is spacious, bad is big. Breakfasts were simple, but tasty.

Cons: Very cold stone floor. There was no toilet lid at the bathroom.

Pros: Overall the hotel and room were very nice. Breakfast was included and it was delicious. Also, the restaurant was very nice for lunch and dinner. I was here to present at a conference and the conference rooms of the hotel were nice and they provided folders, papers, pens, and water for participants. The hotel was right next to the central metro station which was very convenient to get on the metro and do some sightseeing. However, I don't think this hotel is in a "tourist area" and it is more where the locals go to catch the bus and the metro.

Cons: The hotel is in a sketchy area and the room I had was noisy. I would not go out after dark. I was sexually harassed on the street one night while I was trying to get dinner. During the day was okay though. The room was also cold at night and no matter what setting I put the thermostat at the temperature never changed. The tv and treadmill in the fitness center did not work. Also, the business center was not available due to renovations. In addition, I asked the front desk staff what/where there was to sightsee and I was just given a city map with no indication of where things were located. The woman just circled a broad area of the map and told me to go there. That was not helpful at all.

Pros: Clean good value and THE closest to train station. Other hotels advertise they are close but you would have to navigate across very busy streets. Staying at this hotel because of its proximity to the train station was the best move we could have made!

Cons: Staff was not helpful over a few small matters.

Cons: Extremely small room with very soft/worn mattress, safe deposit box in room does not work and extremely small shower stall (can't even bend down).

Pros: We were a family group and we booked 4 rooms. Due to an offer we selected the deluxe rooms and it was an excellent choice. King beds and good airco and wifi. Try to have a room with balcony at 6th or above floor. You see the back of the train station-ugly- but also the sea and Vesuvius vulcano. The breakfast was very complete- you can order expresso coffee. The gym is quite basic with no dressing rooms. The lobby is large and plenty of comfy sofas. Next door to the metro and train, easy if you want to visit Pompei. We recommend this hotel. Lots of restaurants next door and a very good supermarket at the train station.

Cons: The surroundings are on the low end of Naples, train station style. We felt safe, anyway.

Pros: Good location for exploring the city. Great breakfast selection and high quality dining in the evening . Friendly and professional staff.

Pros: The location at the central station was excellent. The hotel has a restaurant, though we found the menu limited. There are a number of other restaurants close by. Tea and coffee facilities were supplied, there were two chairs and a desk, a frig, WiFi worked OK. There was a little balcony overlooking the square below and the window could be opened. There was a bath.

Cons: We had trouble regulating the temperature in the room, especially at night; we were either too hot or too cold, leading to disturbed sleep. When I left a note asking for the bath to be cleaned, it was done; otherwise, no. I realise that most people take showers rather than baths, but still, the bath should be cleaned every day.

Pros: The suite room is luxury and reasonable. Access to station is perfect. There are supermarket and book shops in front of the hotel. Perfect location.

Pros: Lovely hotel (bar the check-in manager on reception) modern, comfortable bedrooms, good location and great breakfast.

Cons: The manager on reception, Antonio I believe, was totally devoid of charm and manners. The computers were down when we first tried to check in and were barked at to leave our luggage with the attendant (without taking our names) then we came back later to check in he was surly and rude, kept asking for passports and bank cards several times and throwing them back at us when he was done. Didn’t tell us what time breakfast was, or checkout, and was already speaking to someone behind us before he’d finished with us. Very unwelcoming. Antonio - I think a brush up in customer service will do you the world of good. Oh, and you should be able to provide an iron - surely standard in a 4 star hotel?Grazie.

Pros: Very clean, friendly staff, location was good for quick access to the train station and I loved to roof terrace for it fanatic views.

Cons: The aircon wasn’t as powerful as I would have liked. Breakfast is very expensive (I didn’t try it).

Cons: In the room there was just a bed, a chair, vary small kind of table, hanger and TV. Extremely minimalistic facility. Feelings like in a prison cell :) But clean. Good just to stay for sleeping. At least s fridge availability would be desired.

Cons: it was nothing like the photos, very harsh light, big stain on bed sheet when we got there. outside the street does feel very unsafe be sure to hold onto bags.

Cons: We chose the hotel because it is within walking distance of the station. Unfortunately the area between the station and the hotel is full of undesirables. Whilst we are seasoned travellers and knew to not make eye contact and how to protect our valuable from pickpockets, I would be very worried about more naive holidaymakers. The restaurant is the hotel is outsourced! The service was appalling and we ended up walking out and going to the bar where we got a snack from a pleasant bar man. Generally the staff at Reception were very helpful. However, when we checked out someone new was on duty. He insisted that, although we had pre-paid through booking.com,the payment hadn’t gone through and we had to pay again. We protested and luckily had printed out the booking which clearly said PAID. We said he’d have to take it up with booking.com. (Was this a scam - a similar thing happened to us last time we were in Naples which is why we had booked through booking.com and booked a chain hotel.)

Pros: It’s the third time we spend vacation in Palazzo Caracciolo. As usual everything was great. On the reception were waiting us very kind, professional and with smile Gennaro. He is very atteentive and friendly. He made for us free upgrade and we had such a wonderful room. You don’t have to wait for anything, it’s always fast work here. Room was amazing and very big. One of the best things I like in Palazzo Caracciolo is the bed. When you come back to your room and lay on the bed, it’s perfect for relax, because it’s extremely comfortable. Gennaro gave us recommendations about places to visit in Naples, and also advised to spend relaxing time on the jacuzzi at the terrace of the hotel. Breakfast is very delicious, full of tasty food, different fresh juices, nuts, cheese, fresh salmon, fruits, vegetables, jams, honey, bakery. The hotel is perfect in any apects. We always stay in this hotel while in Naples. Great thanks to Gennaro. Grazie mille!

Pros: The bed was super comfy

Pros: Well maintained hotel in an historic part of town - close to Metro, the Archaeological museum, and many of the great walking streets of Napoli

Cons: The surcharge the hotel applied at checkout for 2 people staying in a double room was offensive.

Pros: Common spaces were beautiful and location great. Restaurant was delicious for dinner.

Cons: Sub-par rooms, no kettle in room, clueless staff (nobody knew what a bath mat was, for example), broken fridge they wouldn’t fix (they said it’s supposed to be warm!), took 30 minutes to get my car (they had said 15 minutes), also no breakfast. Stayed at a much cheaper and nicer hotel down the block. Wish I had booked that hotel for my days in Naples! You can get much better value than this hotel. A fail for the Sofitel chain.

Pros: Excellent breakfast with a widegree selection. The hotel staff were pleasant aND helpful. Naples is a hectic city and this hotel was like an oasis!

Cons: There is no clock in the room... my only complaint.

Pros: The hotel was lovely - in a beautiful restored palazzo- and we were able to walk to it from the train station which was handy. Reception was very well organised. The hotel is very close to all the areas tourists would want to visit. The room was lovely and the hotel were able to give us a room with a really nice balcony/terrace as we requested. I can't comment on breakfast/dinner as we did not have either.

Cons: Difficult to think of anything negative though it was a little pricey considering it did not include breakfast

Cons: On bottle of water only is complimentary, we are two person!! 7 € for rooms services plus 4 for extra bottle =11€ . I really did not like this.

Pros: Beautiful hotel and really friendly staff. When we arrived in Naples, we were very surprised at the journey on foot from the station to the hotel. The hotel is gorgeous but does not fit into its surroundings! Everything around it is run down, filthy and derelict. We had no idea Naples would be like this. We were advised not to stay out after dark as the location is not the best and pick pocketers are common. We decided to venture in the other direction one afternoon in the hope that Naples wasn’t all bad and we were really pleasantly surprised. After about 10 minutes in the other direction, we found the main town and this was much better and full of shops and restaurants so this was a plus. It would have been much nicer to stay in this area. We stayed here for just 2 nights on our way to Sorrento to do Pompeii and Versuvio. This worked well being so close to the station and took us about an hour on the local train to get there.

Cons: We would have preferred the hotel to be in the main town as the location was terrible. Close to the station was a plus for the purpose of our visit but in being so, it was quite an intimating and scary neighbourhood to walk through, especially at night.

Pros: Very comfortable bed after a long night of Travel. My husband loved the breakfast and Thought the price was reasonable.

Cons: Room is small.

Pros: Loved the area - very old area of the city. Neighborhood is very real (not glitzy or pretentious) and gives a view of the quotidian Napoli. Some of the oldest and best pizzerias are in this area.

Cons: Key cards did not work reliably for rooms

Cons: Communication before my final successful booking. When I received a confirmation I thought I was all set. Not so! My credit card was declined for security reasons. Neither, the card nor booking.com notified me directly. I found out from gmail three days later. I rebooked more or less by luck.
