Pros: Location
Cons: Bathrooms were really gross, the tub didn’t drain, the shower curtain was tattered, the sink area was just old and had chipped countertop. When I turned AC unit on to access the fan because there was so much humidity in room, black stuff came flying out. The blackout shades are useless because all the balconies have a bright light and it comes shining through. One positive, is that your breakfast lady takes pride in what she does and area is kept clean and well stocked. Hot tub could be wayyyyy warmer as well.

Pros: I wish I could have stay there to find out what I like.
Cons: If they had given us the rooms we booked it would have been amazing. we booked and paid for the rooms, and then when checking in they said, sorry its a holiday weekend and there was a mix up with your booking and we DON'T HAVE ROOMS for you.... so they out us in a Hilton near by, it was already 9PM when we checked in and missed dinner. Horrible.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The location was great. The property was clean, the room was comfortable. The breakfast was very good.
Cons: The room was tired.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: I chose this place because it was close to where I needed to be early the next morning. And because it had a pool and was close to the beach in case I wanted to take a dip. It delivered on all those. The staff was friendly and helpful and the parking lot big enough for me to park my car with trailer while not causing problems for other guests.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were friendly and there was nothing about the place to complain about. The rooms were very cheap. My girlfriend and I were there to go whale watching for Valentine’s Day, which was walking distance from the hotel.
Cons: Check in is at 4pm which seems unreasonably late. The staff even agreed with us and helped us get into a room early.
8,5 Excellent
Pros: Great location. Comfortable clean living area. We had fun hanging out on the deck.
Cons: Bathroom definitely needed an upgrade and it wouldn't hurt to clean under the mat in the tub once in a while.
5,0 Okay
Pros: The wallboards in the shower were dirty & coming away from the wall. There were leaks in the hall with buckets catching the water. There was a guy kicking a door in upstairs around 1am, had a massive row with a female - NO security seemed to be around!
Cons: Old, dated, needs a few repairs. Breakfast was awful.
6,0 Good
Pros: Close to the wharf. Room was quiet, comfortable bed.
Cons: Breakfast was bland. Restaurants close by were unimpressive and over priced for the quality.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Julie was fantastic at check in. Love the location and have been here before and will return.
Cons: Unfortunately we had pool side and we did not realize that on weekends that they extended pool hours which a bit frustrating.

Pros: Cookies at check in.
Cons: Downgraded from king suite to 2 double beds with no balcony right next to the bar even after telling them it was our anniversary. Service at bar was awful and rude. Overall experience was horrible.

Pros: Room was a great size. Way bigger than the norm. Hotel bike rental on site is very convenient. Lovely service and great food at restaurant. Really close to beach. A short walk to other attractions. Great casual beachy vibe. Would return with my family for sure.

Pros: Great location. Friendly staff. Beds are comfy. Close to restaurants, close to the beach.
Cons: Parking was expensive.

Pros: Nothing. The only reason why we picked the location was because of the rooftop area for cocktail area and fire and that area was closed and every time we asked to start the fire it was like pulling teeth and kept having problems then got stuck at the entrance fire and that wasn’t romantic at all. Worst place to stay if my life.
Cons: And to top it off we got stuck in the elevator for 20 min one night and then the elevator got stuck 3 other times. Was such a nightmare.
5,0 Okay
Pros: It was walking distance to the beach. The parking attendant man was super nice and always pleasant.
Cons: The heat ac/ was so loud it rattled and woke me up every time it kicked on. The bath tub had a dirt ring around it. Park wasn’t included. $29 a day! Who travels and doesn’t have a vehicle? The restaurant wait staff was running around confused at their job. The bartender didn’t even know how to make a sex on the beach. All I can say is WOW!

Pros: Close to beach
Cons: Check in was an hour late.Staff not very pleasant. Everyone in lobby was upset, rooms were not ready. Will not go back.Spent 3 hours on rooftop bar because they said we could have early check in at 1. Was compt. free parking. Big deal.

Pros: The location was convenient and the staff members were friendly
Cons: Lots of traffic noise from nearby roadways and the train track running directly behind the hotel. The water main broke during my stay and there was no water for several hours. Had to check out without showering or cleaning up.

Pros: Location and view is nice, but not worth the unprofessional staff.
Cons: Lack of safety and unprofessionalism... Unsafe premises, unbelievably unprofessional staff. I received a refund, but other travellers must be warned. Key to our room was issued for other guests and we were walked on when having an intimate moment. When complained, we were told we could leave if we were unhappy!!! At 8 pm!!! It was a traumatizing experience that totally ruined our vacation. Also we were given a parking view room without being contacted or informed about it, then told that they really did not have to communicate it with us!

Pros: This was one of the most beautiful places I’ve stayed. Simply amazing. The bathroom alone made it one of the nicest hotels to date. And I’ve stayed at some high in hotels. Staff was great. If I needed something towels etc.. 10 mins tops. Always greeted. Read my bible over the beautiful view of the ocean. Morning breakfast a delight. I could go on but I’d be here writing all day and night. I’ll be going there again. Great location. Small and cozy for you and a loved one looking to get away.
Cons: Everything! Literally nothing more nothing less
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Staff are very kind and caring always wanting you to be comfortable
Cons: I loved everything location always a plus
7,0 Good
Pros: Most every thing
Cons: Had dinner reservations at 4:30 in Laguna. Requested if possible to get into to room a few minutes early, left phone number. No call and room not even ready at 4:00. Appeared to be no effort to accommodate. Disappointed but will not judge Blue Lantern on act of one person.
4,6 Okay
Cons: Lobby was very warm as if the AC did not work, not enjoyable if needing or wanting to spend time in the lobby. Carmen was very rude to my wife who is pregnant and was already emotional at the time, if further details related to this person is needed I will provide them. The tub jets were broke, after turning the water on pieces of plastic were floating around in the water. The balcony view consisted of a tree directed in front of the view. Only a quarter of the balcony shows off the harbor. Overpriced for a bad experience.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Delicious warm breakfast. Lots of options. The breakfast are was very clean, nice and welcoming. Coffee, tea, muffins, omelet, different kind of breads, oatmeal was served.
Cons: Everything was perfect.
7,1 Good
Pros: The room and bathroom were large
Cons: A seven day cancellation policy is unreasonable. A cancellation fee of your entire stay plus taxes is also unreasonable. Most legitimate establishments charge only for the first night when cancelling. When you check in, you must sign a contract with several terms that you were not advised of in advanced. There is no safe in the room for laptops or valuables which is standard at other places. The breakfast doesn’t start until 8 am. If you must leave before that, you miss out. Most other places start at 7 am.
9,7 Excellent
Pros: We loved the location. the view and breeze from the harbor were lovely. The staff was very helpful and cheery. we enjoyed the breakfast and visiting with the others when drinking wine with snacks downstairs.
Cons: The water flow in the shower was a little weak, but it worked.

Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was a full one with lots of choices. Good location. Clean room. Quiet.
Cons: The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable however I am a short person, just under 5' tall. Pros: The bed
Cons: The girl at the counter was rude, was dressed really sloppy, the lobby reaked of marijuana, the door to the rooms would not stay closed and I was charged a 100.00 deposit just in case there was damage. Pros: Location was good but we didn't eat at the hotel
Cons: They were under construction but no notice was posted on the booking.com site. If it had been we never would of stayed there. It started at 8a-6p. We had no hot water only a little warmer than luke warm, t.v. didn't work; kept going in/out, voices didn't match the speakers lips. We had a balcony but no chairs and our view was of the workers trailers holding their equipment and their trash in piles. Their website states if any part of your stay was great we will reimburse you for that part. We let the front desk know and they said "Sorry about that." That was it. Didn't follow their policy, didn't get the hotel manager, just nothing. There are good things however. The hotel is very cute and we liked the lay. Also Ethan at the front desk who checked us in was kind, polite, professional and welcoming.

5,0 Okay
Pros: Good location, pleasant and helpful staff. Hotel was clean. Parking was good, free laundry was useful. Marginal breakfast was OK, but no whole wheat muffins or bread!
Cons: Booked a timeshare setup - should have cooking and eating facilities, and reasonable seating accommodation. Instead, we got a microwave, no table or chairs, one armchair and one desk chair. There was a jacuzzi we didn't need. Shower floor was like glass.
7,0 Good
Pros: Pool lounge chairs and cabanas. Clean and good hot breakfast
Cons: Rooms and hallways seem outdated
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Highly recommend!!!! Love staying here!!!
Cons: No
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The attendant receiving us was pleasant and helpful in finding a place to eat nearby!
7,1 Good
Pros: The lobby was lovely. The included breakfast was good and varied.
Cons: The bed was very uncomfortable. The walls are very thin and we could hear the guests above us moving around all night. The “ocean view” really isn’t an ocean view, as the property is too far away from the ocean, and there are too many buildings in the way.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: I liked the overall feel of the location. The look gives a classy feel and the staff was super helpful.
Cons: They could work on the aesthetics of the location for the included buffet. A little quality boost with the food and rebuff of the room should make this part more appealing.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Room and amenities
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Staff was nice and hotel was nice and clean
Cons: The rubber pancake making machine :) while it was unique pancakes were rubbery.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Good option in San Clemente. Few steps from restaurants, bars in the center. The overal structures of the hotel is nice outdoor, and a bit oldish indoor, however the room was quite recently renewed, very comportatale and clean. Free parking. Very close to the highway, but this was not an issues. The pier is not far (15-20 minutes by walk) or 5 mins or less by car. Freeway access very close. I would definitely consider stay at Volaré again.
Cons: Breakfast was basic and not much varied. However eggs, bacon or sausages (alternatively), yogurt, orange juice and coffe were avilable: so for me it was ok. In addition Starbucks is a block away only, for those who like me appreciated a morning espresso.
4,2 Okay
Pros: The location
Cons: They overbooked the room the suite but and without any type notice put me in a complete downgraded room. It was a horrible stay and I won’t be back
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The location is great it's within walking distance of downtown. You do have to walk about a mile to the beach but free shuttles offered during the summer. Décor in hotel is modern, free parking and breakfast included was great. Staff was very friendly.
Cons: The pool is not heated, and the spa was too hot. This to me would be an amenity a lot more people would use if the temp was more pleasing. The rugs in the lobby could use a cleaning too.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Nice staff. Easy parking and access from the freeway. It was good value for San Clemente. The hotel is about 1km up the hill from the beach. The walk up and down to the beach is enjoyable as you pass lots of shops, restaurants and a few parks, but some people may find the walk steep. Breakfast was adequate.
Cons: Some rooms are level with the freeway so if looking at a constant flow of cars bothers you, ask for a room away from this.

6,0 Good
Pros: Breakfast was fine and the breakfast staff was one of the best things about the hotel. For the money spent, the comfort and quality of the room and the breakfast options, the Holiday Inn just down the road is a much, much better option.
Cons: The room was okay. The bed is not very comfortable and the bathroom definitely shows its age with grunge around the tub, etc.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful grounds, warm friendly staff. Breakfast was great, room comfortable. Comfortable beds. Loved that there was a ceiling fan in our room.
Cons: Although the a/c filters were spotless (I checked) there was a mildew smell when the a/c ran so opted for the ceiling fan. Thank goodness for that or probably couldn't have stayed in that room.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We had such an amazing time in San Clemente! The people at the hotel were so friendly and helpful... be sure to check out the breakfast buffet. It isn't much, but the waffles were amazing!
Cons: We did wish the spa tub was more accommodating for two people, but it was still a decent size. I do thank the desk clerk that advised us that the tubs in the building above where the breakfast is might have a bigger tub, however all their spa tubs are technically the same.

7,0 Good
Pros: The woman that checked us in, and that we talked to, was very kind, very helpful. She is a great asset to this property.
Cons: The man that checked us out was a quieter, less helpful (and almost grumpy...?) person. The "breakfast" was really very little; the coffee varied from warm to tepid, and was never hot. There was no fruit or cereal, much less any form of 'hot breakfast' that almost all the competitors (in this price range) serve.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: We were pleasantly surprised to find that our room had a separate room closed off by a door where the sofa bed was located. This allowed my husband to watch TV in one room while I had a quiet area to read my book. The breakfast also had some variety from day to day and the hotel provided a few little extras like a cookie tray in the evening in the lobby and free bottled water for our drive to the next destination, when we checked out.
Cons: There was some sand at the bottom of the hot tub but otherwise everything seemed great

Pros: We were told our room had ocean view which technically was true but it really overlooked a busy and loud freeway. The noise in the morning made it hard to sleep. I would have preferred a room not on the side of the freeway.
Cons: Pool was too small. Did not like room overlooking freeway due to noise of cars.
7,0 Good
Pros: Spacious rooms.
Cons: The pillows! Really they collapse when your head hits them. I had a massive headache from them all night. Still had the headache for half the morning. PLEASE upgrade your pillows. And why does a king size bed have a teeny pillow? Hallways smelled

Pros: I loved how friendly the staff was and I was able to get my requested early check in time. The breakfast in the morning was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

Cons: The room was very small. The bible in the nightstand was graffitied.

1,0 Poor
Pros: Absolutely nothing
Cons: The online pictures were a joke. The room was clean but it was very far away from the beach. I have bad knees and I specifically asked if this was in walking distance from the beach. It surely was not.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: I had a comfortable suite with nice bay window to see out. It rained the whole time so it was very cozy and comfortable. Got a lot of rest.
Cons: No able to use the bathtub. I was looking forward to a nice hot bath. Evidentialy it use to be a jacuzz tub at one time and they took them out and covered them over but must leak. Had signs not to fill tub or could leak downstairs. $250 fine if we did.
1,0 Poor
Cons: Incredibly rude. I felt like they were treating me like a criminal The man told me that dogs were not welcome anywhere in San Clemente. Lie! We found a better hotel that welcomed my service dog. Horrible people running the place. We will never return.
5,0 Okay
Pros: very clean
Cons: check in girl extremely friendly. check out guy ..extremely unfriendly
3,0 Mediocre
Pros: The location was nice.
Cons: I never leave reviews like this but I was really unhappy with my stay. I came out alone for a friend's wedding. I booked my room for two nights. It was pricey: $180 plus a $200 deposit. The room barely had basic necessities. The soap bars fell apart before the end of my stay. There wasn't a coffee pot, which even cheaper hotels provide. I asked reception for a toothbrush, which also are provided at cheaper hotels, and was told to go buy one at the nearby gas station. But what bothered me most was that I came back from the store one day to find hotel management and a plumber walking in and out of my room, saying that my shower was leaking into the next room, which was under renovation. What bothered me was that I didn't receive a phone call prior to explain that they needed entrance, and them working on it caused me to be late to my friend's wedding, missing the ceremony. When I came back later on from the wedding reception, my "do not disturb" sign looked like it had been disturbed, and the drapes inside also looked disturbed, as if someone had been inside. I never leave the do not disturb sign crooked nor do I leave gaps in my hotel curtains. (I'm not sure why the photos are uploading sideways.) I didn't feel safe in my hotel room anymore. I couldn't sleep and I chose to leave early that morning. I feel that this hotel room was not worth the price for the stay.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The room was spacious and clean, loved the tile wood like flooring! It smelled clean and that always is a good thing walking into a hotel room. The bed was extra comfy as were the abundant pillows. Appreciated the heater fan, chilly night. Appreciated the fridge.
Cons: There was no coffee maker or iron in the room. The door could be a tighter fit, I could smell cigarette smoke coming thru in the morning, just awful.

Pros: Clean place.
Cons: Offered muffins with coffee.

Pros: The front desk clerk at check in was very courteous. I felt welcome. My few requests were accommodated without hesitation. My privacy was respected.
Cons: I noticed the hot water could have been warmer in the shower given my use in evening around 7 pm.
5,8 Okay
Pros: There isn’t much around this area for suite type options. So we chose this. It’s slightly in the middle of nowhere. Highway out front. Nothing you can walk to. The lobby is pretty. Pool area is not bad. Building needs serious maintenance. Rooms I thought were dirty. We were there over Christmas and we made it work but I wouldn’t really go back. It’s too bad because if they did the exterior maintenance and made the rooms slightly nicer it would be great. Stove top is not really useful. A oven really would be better in a suite with full cooking supplies.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Loved having the 2 separate rooms to spread out in.
Cons: Everything was good.
7,0 Good
Cons: There were no sheets for the pullout bed. When we asked for some, they gave us twin sheets for a full sized bed. Did not replace them when they cleaned the room.

9,0 Excellent
Pros: We have been visiting San Clemente Inn for over 18 years, we love it. The proximity to the beach, eateries, shops, grocery and the highway couldn't be any better. It is always clean, comfortable and easily accessible.
Cons: There is current construction going in, I saw trash possibly from the workers strewn around the property, this was disappointing because it has always been exceptionally clean. Customer service used to be priority, especially if you are a frequent visitor.
7,0 Good
Pros: Good location, nice facilities
Cons: Loud live music in the restaurant - not really kid friendly
2,0 Mediocre
Pros: The lobby was nice.
Cons: It is just a dump. The room was old, tired, and smelly. The carpet was torn and sticky. The shower was gross. The walkways and exterior were ugly and shabby like an old tenement. Dump.

Pros: Location
Cons: Substantial building work going on which was not mentioned. View from room of car park . Additional resort fee and compulsory parking charge added $70 + per day . These charges were not overtly advertised. Fridge in the room didn’t work, robes were removed, room was not cleaned until very late in the day. A total rip off.
