Cons: The hotel was great! The city of Austin needs to clean up, the streets are dirty, there was a homeless man sleeping in a tent right across the street from the hotel. As soon as you step outside to the street homeless people ask you for money non-stop, lot's of people smoking on the sidewalks. The city was not nearly as nice or clean as other's I have visited but that's not the hotel's fault.

Cons: There is a strange smell throughout the hotel. It is a musky, cedar chip kind of smell. It can be a little overbearing in some areas. Also the maids forgot to clean ours rooms both days. We had to call them every evening to ask them to come.

Pros: We loved our stay at the Guild Red River. I love this concept and hope that more cities take note and offer something like this. Our stay was comfortable and we felt like we were home away from home. Having a full kitchen and separate living space is a rare find in a traditional hotel but at the Guild it's standard and for the same price. We will definitely be staying at one of the Guild properties the next time we visit Austin!

Cons: The unit is pricey for the neighbourhood; yes it is close to the action, but the homeless situation nearby is a negative for me considering what we're paying. I had a cheaper place booked three blocks south of 6th, but that went sideways for other reasons (the unit was sold and our booking was cancelled - bummer). I scoped it out on my walkabout, and I can tell you the surroundings were much more pleasant at a savings of at least $70 per night.

Cons: Overnight parking fee, yes all of them have them however $50 a night to park at the hotel as a guest already paying premium rate is a bit ridiculous. Doors to the rooms slam shut on their own. So when guest are coming and going at any time of the night there is a chance you will be woken up if you’re a light sleeper.

Pros: I was staying at this Hotel for a conference at the Convention Center and the location is absolutely perfect. There is even a walkway connecting the two on the 6th floor. I stayed on one of the “executive levels” and it is a bit more expensive, but definitely worth it. There is access to the lounge from 6am-10pm. Breakfast itself is worth it. A large spread: eggs, bacon, fruit, and of course breads! Where as most hotels only offer a continental. It was really nice to have that option. There are two wonderful restaurants inside the hotel, but if you feel like wandering at all, there are numerous options within walking distance. You will not go hungry. And, the pool is not too shabby either. Really nice to lay out there after a day of conferences!

Pros: The property was excellent, enjoyed the rooftop pool, free parking, and free breakfast. Our room was clean and spacious so that was a plus.
Cons: The night staff at the front desk weren't as friendly as the ones in the morning or afternoon. Even a house cleaning employee ignored us when we asked for more towels.

Cons: It was advertised as a boutique hotel, but I did not feel it was a boutique hotel. It was attached to a Holiday Inn. It costs $40+ per day to park a car. I was told wine was a part of happy hour...$5 per glass. Asked if they had a red blend wine. Was told yes. Had a glass and later found out on bill that it was $14 per glass. Bartender did not tell me my request was not part of happy hour option.

Cons: The overall cost was prohibitive, and in particular the valet parking, there was really no choice but to use that option because it was not possible to park elsewhere. The restaurant and bar lacked customers and hence ambience and became a self fulfilling prophecy!!!

Cons: If on the north side of the building there is a venue that plays live music across the street. i stayed two nights, Wednesday there was no music, Thursday was terribly loud. Many bums around the area, some aggressive. Do not bring your kids to the area.

Pros: The facilities were extremely clean and in exceptional condition. The location was quite possibly one of the best in Austin if you like 6th street and rainy street. We were right in the middle of everything and did not have to over extend ourselves or pay a hefty uber to get everywhere. It was a wonderful stay.

Cons: Large homeless encampments made it very unsafe feeling to walk to the convention center. Extremely (like window shaking) loud on weekend due to the partying on 6th street. I feel badly for those that work there. They are lovely and trying to provide the best customer service in an impossible situation.

Cons: There wasn't much to dislike- I suppose the prices in the shoppe were pretty high but that's to be expected for the convenience of it. Also, the person checking us in had a little bit of an attitude and couldn't help us figure out our Hilton honors number. However, the person checking us out found it immediately and resolved everything so no harm done.
