7,0 Good
Pros: breakfast accommadation suitable for family
Cons: Poor matresses on the beds. No toilet upstairs
1,0 Poor
Cons: The bedroom was freezing and the other rooms were not very warm either. The food was not up to the standard they were portrayed in the hotel description, including the breakfast! The worst omelette I have ever had in my life.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Staff
Cons: No spa bath
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The room was spacious, beautifully furnished and decorated, spotlessly clean, well-equipped and luxurious. The hotel overall was quiet and peaceful, the service provided by staff was prompt, professional and friendly, the food superb and the whole ambience pleasant and tranquil. The crowning glory was the pool and spa facilities. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be returning. My only criticism was the foldaway bed which was so uncomfortable due to being old and broken that it could not be slept on.
Cons: The foldaway z-bed provided for my ten year old daughter was old, broken and so uncomfortable as to be impossible for anyone to sleep on. In the end I took the mattress off and slept on the floor and my daughter slept in the four-poster bed with my husband otherwise she would have had no sleep at all. Considering the cost of this foldaway bed is £25 per night it should really be of better quality.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful room and ambience throughout. Our little dog was welcome. Access to sap easy and enjoyable.
5,0 Okay
Pros: Location, parking, physicality, arrival, ambience, room and friendly staff. Great breakfast.
Cons: VERY poor internet (and mobile) communications, unreliable and slow. Even inthe Library, where they promote its 'availability'. We even had a Cisco hub in our room (with cables draped all over floor...) made no difference... no access for 20+ hours per day. Restaurant menu was both very poor in variety AND was repeated nightly; so if you did not like what was on offer the first night... They were willing to provide the bar menu in the restaurant though. Perhaps they should analyse why this was necessary.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: Spa facilities were good, Food and wine in restaurant was very good and reasonably priced. The building and also the interior of Doxford Hall was impressive and luxurious, but the atmosphere and the ambiance was relaxed, welcoming and friendly. The hotel is set in 10 acres with excellent car parking.
Cons: The wifi in our room was non-existent, but worked in other areas of the hotel. It would have been better to have a walk-in shower rather than in the bath, but it worked well with reasonable pressure. Because of the rural location, one has to drive along the narrow country lanes to get anywhere - but that happens when in the countryside, but you can reach all the tourist attractions of the Northumberland coast from there.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Surroundings, food options, staff, spa, price, standard of linen, room and comfort of bed
Cons: Small things like a wee bit of condensation stains around the inside window & flys in the bathroom light fittings

Pros: Convenient location, staff brilliant, attention to detail, breakfast excellent. Nice and different atmosphere with antiques, candles, Room large and clean
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The whole place is like being in a fairy tale, very cozy and well arranged, extremely quiet because it's located in a green and beautiful countryside. Mr. Peter, the owner, has done his very best to make us feel at home, always with a kind smile on his face. The room, bathroom, shower and beds are very comfy and have all that is necessary for an unforgettable stay. Breakfast is served in warm, wood-paneled and wood-paved halls, with crackling fireplace, sofas, armchairs and cushions and decorated with old-style, country tools: but first and foremost, it's rich, fresh, tasty and delicious!
Cons: A wardrobe in the bedroom would do, to store our clothes and stuff and this is the only remark we address to the accommodation. :-) In our room there was just a stick on the wall with some hangers and this is suitable if you only stay one night. But we're pretty sure that Mr.Peter will immediately help if any guest points this out to him.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Comfy bed good breakfasts quirky Place

5,0 Okay
Pros: The location was ideal for what we wanted and when we spoke to the staff the following morning about not sleeping we were given a discount.
Cons: We stayed in Room 1, it looked lovely and was clean, but we both had a terrible nights sleep because the bed was very hard and uncomfortable and the room was so hot and the radiator was not on..there was a fan in the room, however this was so noisy that we couldn't leave it on.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great sized room with excellent sized bed and bathroom.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The Plough is lovely and the staff very welcoming and helpful. We had an issue with a draught from our bedroom window. After we mentioned it this was rectified the next day whilst we were out. The food was excellent. All in all we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it.
Cons: Nothing.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Nice clean property/ friendly staff / comfy bed / bar downstairs was great.
Cons: The Shower made a sound like a jet engine !
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Rooms lovely and clean, staff friendly and location fantastic.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Lovely modern facilities. Lovely room. Couldn’t hear the pub downstairs. The bathroom sink plug didn’t pull up and the lady sorted it immediately.
Cons: The breakfast was a little bit small for the price but still very nice. The stairs into the back of the building after hours were a little scary and steep so not suitable to wear heels!
3,0 Mediocre
Cons: First room had very bad smell so we were moved. Still slight drain-like smell. No fresh air as windows don't open. Bed just an average double and not comfortable. We were holidaying with my sister and brother-in-law and they had a very small, stuffy room. During their second night they were bitten very badly by BED BUGS! We will never go back or recommend this hotel. Also it seemed to be expensive for the size of the bedrooms and breakfast should be included in the room price.
9,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff were superb, right from the start to paying the bill(Ellie).
Cons: Perhaps the shower and the missing bathroom shelf including a drinking glass

6,0 Good
Pros: On a positive note the bed was comfortable and the linen was fresh and clean. The bedroom and bathroom were cleaned to a good standard. I especially thought the cleaners were friendly and pleasant and the bar staff provided good service.
Cons: The room was dated and needed to be re-decorated it had wood chip and some other dated wall paper on a feature wall. There was some damp staining around the top of the wall from a previous leak. The furniture was very old and the sofa was dirty and worn. I didn’t like the way the self service breakfast was served by the staff - usually a buffet is self service and this felt strange to me I did not feel relaxed during the breakfasts.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Rooms good size clean etc again as mentioned previously didn't spend enough time in there to give a full assessment
Cons: Didn't really have a chance to comment on what o didn't like didn't spend a lot of time in there.

Pros: The location is fantastic if you like walks on the beach. There are places and pubs to walk to in either direction. The Indian food we had here was excellent. The staff were really friendly and helpful. We will stay here again.
Cons: Only minor - the bar could have been better stocked. The water could have run hot for longer in the room. I am sure that the continuing refurbishment will sort out these issues.
5,0 Okay
Pros: We have stayed before and love the location. Friendly staff The bar area had been done out well and the fire is a nice touch.
Cons: When we got to the hotel the first person we spoke to said that we hadn’t paid. When I found the email with confirmation of payment and my husband took it back around to reception, there was another person on the desk who said we had paid. We asked what time check-out was, we were told “about 12”. When asked what time breakfast was, he couldn’t remember if it was from 8am or 8:30am. We had to look around to find someone to give the key to on check-out. The bedside lamp in the room didn’t work.
8,0 Excellent
Pros: The staff and the experience

Cons: Can't fault it, the staff went the extra mile to make us welcome
8,0 Excellent
Pros: Comfortable and clean. Helpful staff.
Cons: Bathroom door was awkward to close, could have included a bin for the tea ,coffee empty packets.
3,0 Mediocre
Pros: The location is superb, and the building is a grand old lady. Alnmouth is an absolute gem. The 3 staff (when we saw them) were polite and helpful. The beds and bathroom were clean and new.
Cons: Gosh where to start. It feels like it has been woefully let go for 35 years and new owners are just grappling with a frankly monumental job of DIY. It's not really a hotel - there's no one around, the bar doesn't ever seem to open, breakfast was just tea and dried cereal, the phone doesn't divert to a mobile when you get locked out. The wiring didn't seem amazing, the central heating wasn't on in Jan (though a rudimentary room heater was in there) and the fire instructions were missing from the room. I don't want to put you off because it will probably be a really lovely place to stay one day but there's just too much work to do at the moment.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Can’t believe the awful reviews I read about the schooner Stayed there last night and had a great time Lovely staff Lovely room And also had a peak in the most haunted room Breakfast was delicious
6,0 Good
Cons: doors were not possible yto lock. For two nights we changed 3 rooms
