Pros: The location was fantastic. Buffet breakfast in the morning was delicious and the restaurant is great for people watching at any time - the staff is wonderful. One of the best Aperol Spritz I've ever had. The room was large and despite how busy it was outside, it was very quiet inside - it even had electric shades to get the room really dark. Venetian glass chandelier and lamps were a beautiful touch.

Pros: The location of the hotel was ideal. It is a very short walk to Piazza San Marco. The hotel is also right next to some water ferry stations, which makes transportation easy. The staff serving breakfast were great.

Pros: Take a water taxi to Piazza San Marco and you are only a few steps to the hotel. The hotel included a free boat trip to Murano to see a glass blowing studio and they also offer a one-hour boat tour around town in the afternoon for only 25 Euros per person. A decent hot and cold breakfast buffet was provided by the restaurant out front. We also enjoyed a dinner of traditional Italian specialties at the same restaurant in the evening. Our room was an inside room, so our view was only the courtyard area - but that was okay because all we had to do was step out the front door of the hotel and we were in the heart of beautiful scenery. If you request a waterfront room you will have gorgeous views. Our room seemed to be recently updated because everything looked clean and brand new. The bathroom was small but very modern with a relatively large walk-in shower - and it also looked like it had been recently renovated. The hotel common areas were undergoing renovations during our stay, but it did not disturb our visit at all.

Our room had views of the grand canal, with windows that could've opened for a fresh breeze off the water. Breakfast included in the price of stay, and was delicious, with many options on the buffet, fresh made cappuccinos, and views of the water. Extremely easy access to vaporetto, minutes walk from San Marco and many restaurants and shops. Very friendly English speaking staff

Cons: The hairdryer was awful - really needs to be upgrade. The cost was extremely high and I'm not sure it was worth that amount. The bed was like sleeping on a board - but some people may like it that hard, and the pillows were flat and hard. A few simple upgrades would have made the stay much better.

Cons: A con for some: we had to climb 2 flights of stairs to our room even after taking the elevator, which was fine for us, but may be problematic or some; the elevator was tiny, which seems fairly standard for Italy, but good to know. In general recommend packing light, no matter where you stay as navigating over bridges in the city can be challenging with big bags!

The rooms were huge and they offered everything including 2 bathrooms!!! If you are traveling with young adults and spending time in Venice, this place is it. It was not cheap and it shouldnt be but well worth it!! Your on the main canal and yds from St Marks square. I will recomend it to my friends.

Cons: Everything was very expensive but it is a 5* hotel in Venice so you can expect nothing else! having a room ovrlooking the lagoon was great but you also get the noise - there is a major waterbus stop just outside (24 hour service) and a continuous flood of tourists passing so you are right in the middle of the bustle of Venice. Choose a room without the views ora hotel in a location away from San Marco if you want peace and quiet.

Pros: We stepped off a noisy street bustling with tourists into a wonderful haven from the crowd. We had paid for deluxe rooms with a grand canal view and were not disappointed. The staff were friendly. The facilities of a standard higher than we enjoyed at another 4 star hotel in Venice a few days later. We were able to leave a case for two days even though we were not returning to them and when i went back to pick up the case the staff amazed me by remembering my name. I had asked them to make a fuss off my elderly parents and they did, giving them a room with a balcony. I would have no hesitation going back to Il Principe and would recommend it to all. We stayed in rooms 230 (with a balcony) and 231 - three great windows and wonderful decoration.

Cons: The worst and rudest customer service ever seen. Do not go by pictures, in reality their rooms are very bad. It does not deserve even one star. I ended up making new reservation of an apartment by paying 200 euro per night. Moreover when I tried to cancel my old reservation via booking agency, they threatened us that we may have to leave their property. Now think of what you do when you are with the family on a vacation. Over commercialization has degraded quality everywhere. But this one is the worst. Please STAY AWAY from this hotel.

Cons: One very minor gripe, but not enough to spoil an otherwise enjoyable weekend stay; visitors to the hotel are offered a complimentary visit to a glass factory on the island of Murano. Guests should be aware that there is no such thing as a free meal, or in this case a free trip. You will be expected to put your hand in your pocket and purchase some of the very expensive glass products. Having said that, the glass is spectacular and you may well want to make a purchase on its merit, just be advised that this is a hard sell. Expect to budget at least €200 though it would be easy to spend much more.

Cons: Lack of technical maintenance. As for a this class of hotel, too many things (especially in the bathroom) were fixed provisionally (e.g. tightened with toilet paper or just hanging loose, not to touch), so that on several occasions I found myself staring with confusion at some loose piece of armor in my hand. Each day we had problems with entering the room and had to report at the reception for re-coding our keycards. Getting to a TV channel of interest on the hotel TV was a challenge on it's on (perhaps this was faulty remote, but seems rather to be something wrong with the hotel TV menu).

Cons: I must say I am totally disappointed with my stay. I selected this particular propert because they had stated that they do have SPA facilities in the hotel. On the arrival we had been told that kids are not allowed in the SPA and, moreover, we need to pay extra for entering the SPA. I was not stated here in the hotel policies and the bookling representative told tha Hilton fills the data on booking for themselves. Hilton guys were saying just the opposite thing.

Pros: Great location - 1 bridge over from San Marco Plaza - the heart of whats happening in Venice. Gondolier picked us up right out the side dock and it was close and easy walking to a lot of sights etc.
Staff was very kind & helpful. Breakfast can be hectic if you come at high traffic but all in all not bad. A very good value for the money in Venice and location cannot be beat.

Great location, just off St. Marks square, near to The Hard Rock Cafe. The buffet breakfast was really good - we had fresh juice, coffee, selection of teas, cereals, rolls, preserves, butter,croissants, donuts, salami, ham, cheese, yogurt, bowl of fresh fruit salad. We couldn't believe that there was little omelets and crispy bacon on the buffet. We were set up for the day. The staff gave us a good tip on where to eat near the hotel, very good restaurant with live music. The hotel offers complimentary trip to Murano Island. It worked out to £85 per room incl. breakfast mid Nov

Pros: The Royal San Marco is located approx 50 metres off St Marks Square, and a three minute leisurely walk to the Grand Canal so it is very central. The quality of accommodation is excellent within its range, and the staff are very helpful when ever asked. We would have no hesitation in using it again or recommending it to others.

Pros: The location near San Marco square cannot be beat. The lobby is beautiful.
Cons: The furnishings were old and disappointingly faded for the price we were paying. One of our first rooms was located next to the air conditioning motor on the roof and was insanely loud. To their credit, they did allow us to relocate that room. Upon check in, we were told breakfast was included in our room and the times it would be available. Disappointingly, after our party of six had started eating breakfast, we were then told that our rooms did not include breakfast. When I reminded them of what they had told us at checkin, they said I must have misunderstood. 15 euro per person when we could have easily fed my four children for 1/5 of that price at the bakery around the corner had we known was annoying.

Pros: Highly recommend staying here. Location could not have been more perfect, less than 30 second walk to San Marco square. While not a 7 star luxiourious hotel, it was beautiful when you walk in, rooms were clean and cute with Venician decor and staff was very helpful and kind. For the price, it was everything you want in a hotel and could not have been better with the location. Will recommend this to all of my friends and to avoid the hassle of researching hotels in Venice , just choose this one!

Cons: The room was like a prison cell. The decor is circa 1955. The desk staff was rude and indifferent. The breakfast was terrible. The baggage storage is insecure and left wide open for anyone to riffle through your things or simply walk off with your luggage. I do NOT recommend this hotel.

Cons: Room was really too small- much smaller than any US motel room and barely larger than the 'miniature Japanese-style roomettes found in the East. Two adults, with luggage overfilled the sleeping area. Bathroom was more than adequately large and quite comfortable.

Cons: no dislikes - but a heads up. If you arrive by water taxi from airport at high tide, you cannot get across the plaza. The hotel sent a front desk person who helped arrange a porter for our luggage and a circuitous route back to hotel. Confusing at first but became 2nd nature after first day.
We had a person in a wheelchair with limited mobility so Venice presents some challenges but location of this hotel and especially when not high tide makes it manageable.

Pros: When staying here, I liked the way the hotel was decorated, very typically venetian but beautiful. I enjoyed the breakfasts, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. our room was plenty big enough and the walk from the hotel to the main square only took 2 minutes!

Cons: Be careful with booking water-taxi service via the hotel. Agree on price and request pick-up at the hotel's mooring area on the hotel side. We were asked to walk with our luggage through the streets to meet a water-taxi at another location. Fee requested was Euro 60 (for three stops!), which we did not accept.
