Cons: Room was a bit 'sad' but very clean. Also this hotel is now a pet friendly hotel - we had a dog yapping in the vicinity of our room one evening for quite a while - not what we expected from a 4* hotel.

Cons: We were in the furthest room from reception with the railway line loud speaker easily heard. Small room which we expected but rather tatty. Stains on the bedside cabinet, knob broken on the tap to work one of the showers plus the tiles needed re grouting. The corridor carpets in our wing were very worn out too and smelt stale.

Pros: The staff at the grand are really noticeably friendly and that’s great, really feels welcoming! If you need anything they are happy to help and get it for you.
Cons: The hotel is dated and still in need of work - out room had ripped wallpaper for example. Could also have had a fridge in room. But it’s a big and old hotel And the price we paid in winter months is great. The pool area also could benifit from a steam room (as only has a sauna)

Cons: The rooms we were given were too small for a double and twin room, and barely any room to walk around the beds. The walls were that thin you could clearly here the toilet facilities in the adjacent rooms. This hotel clearly needs updating in all areas.It clearly caters for the elderly in all areas, especially the entertainment.

Pros: The helpfulness of the manager regarding my Dads health which took an unexpected downturn. We had to leave on Friday to return home. He had already arranged on Thursday to change the rooms to bring Us both nearer the lift but in the end it was clear that we couldn’t stay.

Cons: No heating was freezing cold so staff gave us a plug in heater with no fuse in it so was totally useless took 20 mins for the water to get hot enough to shower not happy at all wouldn’t return

Cons: The furniture in the room was old and tatty. We didn't have any heating at any time during our stay. The dining room had plastic tables, no tablecloths. The crockery was chipped and mostly ill matched. No bath/shower mat. The outside of the hotel was dirty and uncared for.

Cons: The room was an ice box and despite there being so many rooms we were right at the back of the building. The heating was switched off. The bathroom had black mold and the shower was cold. Not worth the money we paid! We left early because waiting on a station platform was warmer
