Pros:Absolutely!Cons:Seems counter productive to have your checkin counter closed due to Covid. Limiting staff. Then have people stand in line for an hour breathing each other's breath. Wouldn't it make more sense to move the people through as fast as possible to limit exposure?Reviewed Feb 1 2021

Pros:Yes, that was all goodCons:There was a huge line to pick up the car. You had only 1 person at the Hertz counter and several people waiting so it took quite a while. Also, I had to walk a long way with my heavy suit case to where my car was parked.Reviewed Feb 1 2021

Never againCons:Despite the fact that my reservation was tied to my flight number and the flight was on time, the agent said they gave my car away five hours earlier. He refused to honor my reservation, and offered another car at three times the price. He was actually happy when I said no, and told me he hoped 20 more people didn't show up that afternoon. Luckily I was able to walk over to the National desk and rent a better car from someone who knows how to treat a customer. I know where to rent from now on.Reviewed Sep 16 2016

Never even received my car. Terrible serviceCons:Our plane was delayed and because of that we missed our meet time by an hour for the rental car. When we approached with our reservation the man said, "sorry there aren't any more cars, you are late" as if we had any control over the situation. Because of Labor Day weekend and everything going on in Texas, every single dealership was out of cars. We were stuck at 9pm having to stay the night at a $150 hotel in Austin while we were already booked to stay in a hotel in Waco. The man was not helpful at all and said there was nothing we could do. Pros:The person who performed my rental transaction was very helpful. However, when I walked all the way to space 25 there was a different car in that spot. I had to schlep all of my bags back into the building and stand in line again. The counter person was apologetic and said someone must have put the wrong car in the slot. She reprinted the papers and even walked outside to give them to me. I liked the friendliness of the employee who checked in my car for return on 12/31. There was a wonderful woman in the security booth who checks cars out. I saw her again when I returned my rental on 12/31. But I don’t think she works for Thrifty.Cons:I am so fed up with Kayak and Thrifty car rental at Austin airport! I received an email confirming a cost of $184 +$79.52 taxes = $263.52 due at pickup. However, I was charged $300.36 at pickup and didn’t realize the discrepancy until an hour after I rented the car so immediately tried calling the airport counter, 512 530-6811, about 15 times but never got an answer, just a recording saying all employees are busy helping other customers. I tried calling Thrifty, 800 334-1705, but was told I have to go to counter to dispute charges. I am over an hour away from the Austin airport! On 12/30, I called Thrifty and after 19 minutes on hold, Anna told me I need to call the airport directly and gave me a number to call, 512 225-2815. When I called that number, a recording came on saying mailbox is full and it disconnected. I called back and was told by Lilah that I need to go to the airport counter. I asked to speak with a supervisor. I was placed on hold and music played while I waited, for approximately 30 minutes. Then the music stopped but I was still connected. (50 minutes). (I recorded the entire hour). I started recording the calls at 12:49pm. At 2:01pm I finally hung up. I got nowhere and apparently was still connected to Thrifty because the minutes on the line were still adding up, but there was no sound. Obviously it was pointless to continue on hold. By the way, the car I rented was possessed. There was an amber light next to the driver’s side window that flashed 80% of the time for no apparent reason. It was very distracting and annoying. Also, the bright beams would go on and off by themselves so drivers coming toward me and drivers in front of me probably thought I was intentionally flashing my bright lights at them. And when I intentionally turned on the brights, sometimes there was a delay so when I needed them they weren’t on, which is a serious safety issue. In addition, although it didn’t affect road visibility, one of the daytime headlights was burned out. Today, 12/31, I returned the car. Instead of going on my way after the agent handed me my all-clear receipt, I couldn’t just leave. I still needed to go to the counter. I had to schlep my bags a long way to get to the building and when I got there, the line was horrendous, with only two agents working. After waiting in line for 25-30 minutes, I was advised by Kim that I should have gone to the counter BEFORE I returned the car because now it was too late to do anything. WHAT??? So I’m still not done with this nightmare car rental. I will contact my credit card company and dispute the charges and I will attach a copy of my email with the quoted price and expose Thrifty’s fraudulent practices. I learned a valuable lesson. Don’t use Kayak or Thrifty ever again.Reviewed Jan 1 2021

Pros:It was utterly disappointing to see that the reservation counter was closed at 11:00pm when I had the reservation to pick up at 11:00pm. on 9/4/20. I left multiple voice messages to the manager on duty but no one had a courtesy to call back ever! The reservation should NOT have been allowed to start with if the counter is closed at the time of pick up. Also, the local Thrifty airport contact phone number informs that the. counter is opened at the Austin Airport till Midnight!!. I had to spend another hundred dollars, come back again the next morning to pick up my rental vehicleCons:Provide compensation for the inconvenience and better communication on the reservation and the counter hours of operation and the availability of the carsReviewed Sep 8 2020

Pros:Drop off was very easy, car itself performed well.Cons:LIne to get car was extremely long. it was moved to hertz counter that had only 2 people working and at least 30 people in line. When we picked up the car it had a certified clean label on the door which was a joke. Dog hair everywhere in the car - stuck to steering wheel, etc. A bottle of CBD oil in the cupholder with dog hair stuck to it. Passenger side dashboard was filthy like someone put their dirty feet/shoes up on it. Clearly no one cleaned or wiped it down at all. if we weren't in a hurry and hadn't already stayed in line for an hour we would have rejected the car.Reviewed Sep 13 2020

Cons:Hidden charges when picking up car at airport. Price on Kayak should reflect total price of vehicle. $155 in unexpected costs made this an unpleasant experience. This is unacceptable. Additionally, I booked a 7:00 AM pick up time, and Thrifty WAS NOT EVEN OPEN at this time. This could have ruined my trip if not for the Hertz employee who happened to be there 3 hours before the official open time. Will not book through Kayak or Thrifty again.Reviewed Jul 3 2020

Pros:Liked the price found on line. Liked that it was on-site at the airport and did not have an off-site location. Car rental facility was beautiful.Cons:Car interior was very stained, but that is o.k. just sad that people when they rent to not take better car of the fabric. My only real complaint was the $20.00 toll road charge add-on. I did not see that information anywhere when making the booking. I told the women at counter I would be only on 71 W and E and 183 N and South only as far as the arboretum area of AUS. She said 183 was a toll and I would have to pay the $20. In fact, I learned from residents of AUS that I was Not ever on a toll area of 183. So felt that was not a legitimate charge.Reviewed Feb 16 2016

Pros:The car was clean but also Gas tank was not full at pick upCons:Be prepared to wait in line at the counter for at least an hour before getting your rental. Counter guy says we have a choice & we go out to get our car and we don’t have any selection. The staff outside did not provide us undivided attention & lacked customer service. The exit gate guy took our key fob and did not return it upon us leaving the gate. Luckily we figured out the fob was missing before leaving the premises & turned around. At return it seemed to be such a hassle to close out my rental due to agent nowhere to be found. I wanted to confirm my charges due to the horrible service at pick up and I had to take a picture on my phone from the guy’s tablet as a form of receipt. This location lacked customer service and coming from a formal rental car employee, I know what is expected from these people and traveling all day the last thing you want is a bad rental car experience.Reviewed Nov 26 2019

Pros:Everyone was nice and the process was easyCons:I made the reservation on line (the mother) using my credit card. The confirmation said the driver would have to present license and credit card at pick up (which was going to be my adult son). When we picked the car up we were not allowed to do this without paying extra to have him be the driver. We were told because the reservation was in my name I had to be the first driver. If the on-line reservation would have stated this we would have had him make the reservation. Seems like you could have been more accommodating at the pick up time. Not sure why it makes a difference whose name is on the reservation.Reviewed Jan 6 2020
