Pros:NothingCons:We waited in line to get the car for almost an hour. They then told us they had none of the midsize SUV’s, which is what we rented. We were charged $200 to get a bigger SUV because we couldn’t fit our passengers and luggage in a car, which is the whole reason we reserved a midsize SUV. After an hour of all the waiting we go out to the spot out car was supposed to be and there was no car. We had to back inside and wait until the clerk could help us. They gave us a different car that was filthy and sounded like it was going to die the entire time. When we returned it we were charged 15% tac and that on top of the $200 extra for the upgrade we didn’t want but weee forced to take were more than the original advertised rental fee. Pros:The car was fine, the pickup was problematic. The invoice was for a higher price than it should have been. The agent's (Lorenzo's) explanation was that they were charging me for a full tank of gas and if I brought the car back full, that charge would be taken off. Typically, other car rental companies don't add the charge but let you know that you need to bring the car back full (or at whatever level of gas it has upon pickup) or pay their high gas rate, which they add based upon the gas level at return.Cons:The reality is that after the gas charge was taken off, the bill was still higher than it should have been. Turns out that without discussion or clearing it with me, Dollar/Lorenzo also added a road service charge of $15 on a $47 rental!!! I have AAA so there is no way I would have accepted that charge had it been mentioned to me! I don't know if this was Lorenzo's or Dollar's practice, but it was very unethical. Upon my complaint, of course, the charge was removed. What should have been a good experience was tainted by this unethical behavior.Reviewed Feb 16 2016

You Should Consider Something Other Than DOLLAR RePros:The auto was a 2015 Toyota Corolla. Nice car, comfortable interior, fair mileage.Cons:Dollar service representative totally misrepresented the tollway charges to us by telling us there was a $45 tollway charge if we didn't purchase the Dollar rental tollway service (~$32) from Dollar rental because you couldn't pay cash on tollways. Found out after we got on the tollways that we could pay by mail. Was shocked that a quoted $76 rental turned into a $175 rental when we received our invoice! More than double the quoted price with taxes, fees, unwarranted tollway charges, and additional driver costs! Will be going back to Hertz since they are at least up-front with charges...Reviewed Nov 17 2015

Pros:The address on the paperwork for the drop-off in Dallas was wrong. When we got there, there was a sign saying "no rental drop-off". Then a bit further away was a smaller sign hung on a fence with the address of the Hertz drop-off. This caused a delay in dropping off the car, good thing we were not in a hurryReviewed Jan 28 2021

Pros:The staff at the Dallas Love desk was very helpful after our flight was re-routed because of the ice storm.Cons:The Dollar rental customer support was unhelpful. We ended up spending over 4 times the planned amount because no one could “help” us. This was not a planned vacation that we had saved for, but rather an unplanned expense, we were going down to bring an ill family member home after they had a stroke on vacation. We were already on a tight budget and the car rental experience made at least part of the trip a nightmare. We were told the original deposit would be refunded but that has not happened so instead of spending under $200, we have spent over $400 and have two separate security holds of $200 each (we had to do 2 separate rentals, one day each in order to keep the bill under $500 not including holds)Reviewed Feb 21 2021

Pros:I had to cancel the trip due to Covid travel concerns but was not refunded the money which created an awful customer experience.......Cons:Have self-awareness as a company of what’s happening in the real world and be flexible when travel restrictions are posed on people due to covid and let corporate greed rule the day!Reviewed Nov 26 2020

Cons:Everything was great except pick up at the Hertz counter. Took an hour in line. Only 1 worker for most of that hour, who took almost 25 minutes per person. I was 7th in line when I got there. Drop off was excellent.Reviewed Oct 22 2020

Not happy.Pros:The employees were decently friendly. Business was open late.Cons:In the past, I've been able to go and pick the car from the class I reserved. In this case, I reserved a convertible for a getaway vacation for my wife and I and unfortunately they assigned us a car. Not out of the norm, but I was disappointed. Also, the one we were given was absolutely filthy. I noticed that the drivers seat squeaked driving down the road. Also, the remote keyfob didn't work the entire time until I accidentally pressed the panic button in the Walmart parking lot. Protip: if you rent a Chevy Camaro and the alarm activates, start the car and it will stop. Thanks to the gentleman walking through the parking lot that felt bad for me for that one.Reviewed Apr 19 2016
