Pros:

The staff was not helpful. They did not have the vehicle or a similar one available for my reservation. The clerk stated she wasn't sure about the seating capacity for the vehicle she tried to pawn off. I told her I must have seating for 7 as was reserved. We walked around the parking lot and she showed me that the vehicle I wanted was on a doughnut and they couldn't get it fixed until they had 5 flats to fix. I drove an hour to pick up this car. She offered a 12 passenger van that looked like a church bus or a Highlander with seating for 5. Neither was acceptable. She didn't care that I had already driven an hour to get the reserved vehicle. She stated they called and left a message, but the number they used was not the number on my confirmation and I never received it. She made no attempt to make the situation better or offer a remedy other than a car that was too small or a tank.

Cons:

The agent at the Killeen Airport was not courteous or helpful in any way. When I got upset, she seemed to think it was funny.

Car was fine when I finally got it

Cons:

I booked 4 different reservations and was not able to receive a rental until 3 days after I made my first booking. I showed up after my flight landed and was told my reservation was canceled because they had no vehicles. How was I able to reserve one (4 different times) only to show up and not be able to get a car? Made my business trip start off extremely inconveniently.

Due to extreme weather conditions in TX The flight was cancelled. I had to cancelled the reservation. I had to make about 10 call to cancel. I was not giving an answer for the cancellation. Poor service at best.

I reserved a rental car at AVIS through KAYAK. Then had someone drive me an hour to find that they had no rental cars available. Could not find a rental from any agency within two hours of my location in central Texas. I ended up renting a 20 foot UHAUL truck for $300 plus another $100 in gas just to drive 6 hours away. Maybe I dont understand how reservations work, but this experience has not been great from KAYAK or AVIS. My recommendation would be to skip KAYAK then just call rental car companies from the location you are going. A reservation number from the rental company is almost always guaranteed. A reservation from KAYAK or some other 3rd party deal finder is not guaranteed. Good luck.

If I could give an “it stunk” review, I would. When I got there, another person was there having card issues. Finally the woman told us she didn’t have any cars. I was stranded over 2,000 miles from home with no car! I haven’t been able to get a refund on my prepaid reservation, and I ended up spending over $100 for cab fares to get around since Hertz didn’t have a car for me. Needless to say, I am VERY UNHAPPY WITH HERTZ!
