Pros: The hosts were very helpful and friendly. Room was warm and comfy. WiFi good. My scrambled eggs with smoked salmon each morning were delightful :-) The Wild Olive and taxi recommendations also spot on.

Pros: Amazing hospitality
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The breakfasts were great - the full English was delicious and on the second day I had scrambled egg with smoked salmon, a real treat. Alan and Alison were very friendly and welcoming and we appreciated Alan's tip on where to eat on our second evening.
Cons: What would have made our stay even more comfortable would have been to have somewhere to sit together indoors given the weather and time of year. I appreciate that the owners use the downstairs rooms for their own purposes which meant there was no guest lounge, but having an additional comfy chair in the bedroom would have been a nice touch. And a small thing - some biscuits to go with the tea and coffee.
9,6 Excellent

9,2 Excellent
Pros: Lovely B&B smashing breakfast & a great location. Nice friendly hosts a great spot for touring this part of the Lakes . Very clean & nice touches throughout.
Cons: Our only minor issue was the bathroom not being en suite ... lovely facilities but despite the comfy dressing gowns we were uncomfortable getting up in the night & disturbing others.

7,5 Good
Pros: This is the most magnificent property. Set in a great location and the rooms are fantastic.
Cons: Our first room was freezing as the heating was broken. Our second room was lovely but Unfortunately the chickens are housed directly outside the rooms. The rooster was up all night which kept us awake. Our third room was perfect but we were so tired from being up all night we had to leave. This totally spoiled our break and we literally just moved rooms and tried to sleep for 2 days.

9,6 Excellent
Pros: Everything was very clean and tidy. Our room was spacious and the king-size bed was very comfortable. The general ambiance was warm and friendly and the staff were attentive and pleasant. The dining room is light and airy. All meals we had were excellent both in quality and quantity. The bar has a very comprehensive selection of beers, wines and spirits which can be enjoyed in a relaxed atmosphere.
Cons: This small family run hotel does not usually serve evening meals on Sundays and we found no restaurants within walking distance.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Very friendly it was almost like being at home. Food excellent, as was the accommodation, service and warmth of our greeting.
Cons: Dining room a little cold and impersonal but ate dinner in the cosy bar.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: We were only there for a brief time, so don't feel that we really got to use it to its full potential. The owner was lovely, and the room was nice and clean. Holmrook is a lovely little village, but we didn't get much chance to explore it properly.

Pros: The location was good for Wasdale which is where we wanted to go.The road outside the property was quite busy but we are accustomed to that.Do not be put off by the initial appearance as the inside is great. The owners have spent a lot of effort to upgrade. Lovely food cooked to order

8,0 Excellent
Pros: The place was nice and cosy, a great place to take the dogs. Very creeky floors we got woke up very early with the people next door to us. I don’t know what they were doing for an hour before they left the room but they couldn’t stop banging around.
Cons: Windows need attention all the heat was escaping through the window. The draft from the window was quite bad and we could hear the river, my husband thought it was the toilet cistern. Other than these little things not a bad stay, the place is very quirky.

Pros: My wife and I stayed there to celebrate our one year anniversary and although we had booked the place for only one day we were so amazed by the location of the inn that we decided to extend our stay by one more night !! My room window opened to a river view and I couldn’t have wanted to celebrate our special day any other place ! The staff was friendly and OMG they serve the best breakfast and dinner!!! We’re so glad we didn’t fall for the google reviews for winderemere and kiswick because this was wayyyy better. Very near to the scafell pikes and st bees beach !

Pros: The staff were really friendly and accommodating- we arrived very late due to an accident on the motorway and they arranged for us to eat at the bar even though the kitchen was closing. Great food too and really great location for a base for walking in the area.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great food - -check out the specials board. Really nice beers and whiskies too!
5,8 Okay
Pros: The staff were friendly and the location is great. The bar area is nice and cosy.
Cons: Booked 3 double rooms here because the advert says it is pet friendly, only later did we discover that this only applies to the bar area not the rooms, therefore the dog owners had to stay elsewhere. The owners of the hotel new the situation, but at no point did they offer a refund or discount on the unused room. The rooms are tired and in need of decorating and out of the 3 rooms we paid for only one was a decent size..

9,6 Excellent
Pros: Really nice place
5,0 Okay
Cons: We couldn’t get into the property on our arrival as there were no staff and the key box they suggested when we phoned them was empty, we had to be let in by another guest, we stayed for 3 nights and didn’t see a single member of staff the whole time. The establishment was advertised as a hotel but it felt a lot more like a hostel. We would not recommend and will not be returning.
