Cons: I liked the hotel overall it was ok. I paid for an ocean view and I could barely see the beach. It was more of an ocean peek. Also the staff was nice except the valet service made me and my family uncomfortable. There was a incident where one of the valet members came up us three times, questioning us about our car as if to say we were not the owners. I felt like it was racial profiling and it made me and my family VERY uncomfortable.

Cons: the front desk staff NOT friendly at all and NOT helpful either. no manners like thank you, hi, good morning, night or whatever. they don't even talk to you. check out they just gave me the papers and that is it. no manners at all on the weekend the main area was very dirty specially bathrooms its a type of hotel you need the key in the elevators to go up to the rooms but in the main area you don't feel safe at all very EXPENSIVE hotel but you still have to pay extra to access the wifi

Pros: This hotel is in a great location. Perfect for walking to sights in Santa Monica. This is clearly an old building that has been updated, but it holds a certain amount of charm.
Cons: The hotel was remodeling while we were there, which was a bit of a bother. I didn't love the bed (too soft), and the bathroom linens were not 4-star quality.

Cons: We were only informed of significant renovation works as we arrived which meant there was no restaurant, pool or gym. We were checking in and we’re told they could cancel the reservation if we liked but this was completely unprompted and made us worried about the extent of the disruption. We decided to stay and it was fine but I wouldn’t have paid the same price had I known that there weren’t going to be any facilities available.

Cons: Horrible customer service - they overcharged me for a number of items, including mini bar purchases that we didn't make, and then 'investigated' while we waited 20 minutes for them to tell us they had no receipts. They never apologized after essentially suggesting we were lying. They rented out the entire pool and outdoor area for a Lincoln car event so guests had zero access to the outdoor pool area, which was a main selling point of this hotel. The carpet in the hallways had duct tape in many places because it was old and ripped. When I initially called to tell them we were checking in late, I had to call back three times because they first transferred me to the wrong person, then put me directly into voicemail. When I finally spoke to reception to confirm they would hold our king bed high floor room, they said they don't guarantee a high floor, which is exactly what we paid for and I told them that was listed on my reservation. After arguing over it, they confirmed I would be on a high floor. Overall, customer service was lacking and you didn't feel at any time that you were a priority - more of an inconvenience for them actually. Not worth the price they charge and definitely not a relaxing experience.

I really wish for the price of the hotel, that breakfast or at least coffee was included. $2 for coffee to go? Seems a bit much. The Card keys always errored.

Cons: The hotel has no control over the bums sleeping and pissing outside the hotel. I put my shoes in a bag before I packed them away from the human filth in the street. At least the city washes that area for the tourist but go 2 block in land and gross.

Cons: The carpet in the hallways was pretty worn. The coffeemaker in the room was horrible. My room was facing a major road which was a bit noisy.

Cons: The hotel was undergoing a compleate refurbishment. We needed to check out early as the water was turned off, the hotel was dusty with building work in progress throughout the hotel.

Cons: Hotel was under renovation. Nothing was open and we were not informed when making the booking. We were not allowed to cancel as we had pre paid. The rooms were so old and full of dust. We were also OVERCHARGED and hotel has not responded to us after almost two months.

Cons: There was loud construction work on during my stay. There was no water supply for large parts of the day and constant loud construction work. However, there was no warning about this when I booked or on the hotel's website, and rooms were still full price (which is expensive) despite the considerable inconveniences. There should be notice about this so one can choose to stay elsewhere, or a price reduction. So much chlorine in the (otherwise wonderful) pool that the color of my new swimsuit completely faded.

Cons: Wifi leaves little to be desired. Cellular signal is 4G so you have to jockey around for a good enough signal. The hotel itself is dated but comfortable. Small TV's in the room but who cares.

Cons: The place is run down. Old furniture and mattresses. And really felt like the furniture didn't really fit in the rooms. Why is there a footboard on the bed that sticks out 8 inches at chin height? And the NOISE. Downtown Santa Monica is loud. I expected some noise. They put us right above the alley backed up against a bar. So party until 2 am, then delivery trucks at 6 am. So only a 4-hour window for sleep. And the walls and windows are old and have not been updated, so they are thin and do nothing to block out noise. The pillows were also old and lumpy. And the bed was too small for the room.

Cons: On Sunday 8 March, I ran the marathon, I arrived at the hotel at 1152 am and was no longer allowed to shower, taking care of me in very bad ways. Before booking the accommodation I told them that ask them that I estimated would arrive about 1200 am more or less and that if they would let me shower and they told me YES! So I checked out in the morning (they recommend me) before going for a run and leaving the bags downstairs better but that I could then take a shower in my bedroom O maybe in another one. I arrived 1152 am, and they didnt let me take shower! Still having 8 minutes. At 1230 there were still people leaving their rooms. Next year I will return I won't stay in this hotel., more I will recommend to my friends that do not go and usually go quite a lot for work in this area.
