Pros: The owners were the best hosts ever!! They have a lot of details that make you feel welcome all the time. This is a lovely and beautiful place; we couldn’t stay in a better place. Thanks for everything! We definitely come back :)

Pros: Louise and Mark are wonderful hosts, and the accommodation is something extra special. We enjoyed every aspect of our stay.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: I was the only guest when I arrived that night, and the host greeted me with warm hospitality. There were many interesting collections in the house: paintings, handicrafts, and fun games to enjoy. In addition, the retreat was located in a tranquil environment that provides quality accommodation. If it were not raining, I would be able to look down on the peaceful landscapes. On the next morning, the host prepared genuine New Zealand style breakfast with freshly cooked salmon with eggs. Everything was beyond my expectation during this stay!
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Doolan's retreat was one of our best stay in NZ. The property is absolutely beautiful and the hosts lovely. 10/10

10,0 Excellent
Pros: We had an absolutely perfect stay here, the place is huge, so comfy, and has an incredibly homey feel to it - I would have loved to stay here for a whole week! Me and my partner absolutely loved the fireplace (as we were staying in winter) and the views over the lake are amazing! Mark and Louise are very friendly, make you feel very welcome and taken care of, but let you have your own space as well which was absolutely perfect for us. Breakfast was wonderful, freshly made every morning, beautiful products and great cooking. Our bed was comfortable, room was just right, we felt very comfortable throughout our stay. We loved it and will definitely be back!

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Christine made her lovely home and beautiful grounds truly feel like our home. Only a few minutes drive out of Rotorua but yet a world away. Peace and quiet, with only the sounds of song birds or a happy donkey; vistas all around. We thoroughly enjoyed her deliciously prepared hot breakfasts coupled with daily fresh fruit and home-made musseli and greatly appreciated her sage tips about the local area.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The most beautiful of the many places we have stayed in our travels. Louise & Mark are delightful, generous, and informative hosts. I only wish we could have stayed more than 2 nights. Felt like heaven from the gorgeous rooms, stunning & extensive gardens, outstanding breakfasts, and loads of lovely tea. We took the room that was not en-suite and had to ourselves a stunning and spacious bathroom just outside our door. Was not an inconvenience at all. Forgot to snap a photo of it. Highly recommend this outstanding property for a visit to Rotorua.
Cons: Total perfection!!

Cons: No spa or pool
8,3 Excellent
Pros: The location of the lodge is everything, it is so peaceful and serene. We got to sleep with the curtains open as there is literally ZERO light pollution. You are sleeping amongst nature and stillness. This is a place where you slow down and read and relax and just enjoy being still. The meals are all included in the room rate and everything we ate was divine! We got massages in our room which were outstanding and a highlight of our stay, really put us in the right mode to make the most out of our short stay. Special mention to Suz who was very helpful and gave us some great local advice!
Cons: I think the mini bar beverages should be upgraded. For a premium lodge the mini bar options should reflect that and they didn't. Also there was no french champagne available by the glass which was disappointing.

Pros: Stunning setting and amazing place to relax. Highly recommend the room with outside bathtub overlooking the lake. Hosts where very accommodating and genuine. Food also very nice.

Pros: The staff are extremely pleasant and professional and fell over themselves, trying to be helpful. They are a credit to this hotel. I love the decor. Had very good nights of sleep, thanks to quiet location, blackout curtains and comfy bedding. Right next door to Eat Streat. You can't do better than that. The food there is top notch. Close to the lake too.
Cons: That I was here for work and didn't get to enjoy the facilities more! I tried the breakfast on my first morning but it was a little underwhelming, considering the price. I went to the local cafes for breakfast after that.

Pros: The only 2 problems I had were that in the discription on booking .com it said there was a spa bath and a hot tub there was only a hot tub(which was a bit to chlorine filled for us) not really a problem for us but why say that and the white blinds (room17)looked lovely and blocked out the outside world but on a sunny morning they were very bright not great for sleeping in but overall I think it was a really nice clean comfy room plenty of space and a great bed

Pros: Large bathroom, wonderful spa outside on patio, lovely view out the back slider.
7,5 Good
Pros: The location and the room was satisfactory, the receptionist was very pleasant. In the restaurant the man was very pleasant too, very good customer service.
Cons: Unfortunately the let down for us was the presentation of the food which was not inviting and tasteless. For the cost of the meals my expectations would be worth my money. In future I would book again into this motel, there's always room for improvements and I would happily dine in your restaurant again.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Was well worth our money very nice staff and facilities were awesome
Cons: Nothing
9,4 Excellent
Pros: A bit old fashioned but very clean. Quite a few activities available (hot tub, pool, mini golf) but didn't have time to use due to Rotorua options. Kitchen had more than we needed but was handy.
Cons: Didn't have air conditioning and no screens on window. Very small narrow bathroom.
5,0 Okay
Cons: The spa in the room didn’t work
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Clean throughout and spacious. Good amenities. Quiet location making for a good night's sleep.
Cons: It's a motel, so one assumes you have a car, but if you don't, it's a bit of a hike to the town centre.
8,5 Excellent
Cons: Nil
9,1 Excellent
Pros: Quiet area, private spa, full kitchen and a lovely lIving room with sky TV! King size comfortable bed, view overlooking the trout stream and dedicated parking spot. Basic games room with table tennis, small but adequate swimming pool, outside spa and inside spa available for all guests and a bbq! Super friendly receptionist.
Cons: Exceptionally loud neibours, shouting and using their private spa until 11:30pm. Not the hotels fault at all but was still annoying, this is possible because the self contaimed units are attached in a semi terraced style. Do not let this put you off though, they were exceptionally loud and everything else was perfect. On the edge of rotorua be sure you have a car!

6,7 Good
Cons: The after service, especially through their phone receptionist who had an attitude and horrible manners, and zero empathy for their guests. Hanging up your guest in mid conversation is totally unacceptable.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great location for hot water beach and cathedral cove. Nice apartment style room. Fantastic service from the owners.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Motel is very well located, big stores just accross the street. Very large room and it was great to have the jacuzzi in the room !! Will definitively come back to this place
6,2 Good
Pros: We had asked for a two-bedroom unit but got a large three bedroom apartment with a private hot tub and well equipped kitchen. The staff checked on us to see if we needed anything. Unlimited free wifi, which is not always the case in NZ.
Cons: Check-in closes at nine, eight on weekends. They had mentioned this in their reservation, but we did not notice as it was part of a lot of standard text that we didn't really read. Fortunately, we got there just as the manager was leaving. Also, the windows didn't have insect screens. If we kept them shut, the room was a bit hot and stuffy despite the fans (no AC), and if we kept them open, we got bit by some sand flies. The internet was weak and kept dropping.

Pros: This hotel was better than I expected. The staff are friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. We didn't get to stay in the Victorian building but our room was still great with many extras to make the stay comfortable....the beds were the best I think I have experienced in any hotel!
Cons: It was all very good.

9,0 Excellent
Pros: - enough toilets and showers - big kitchen with everything you need - friendly, helpful staff - twin room with table and 2 chairs + enough space to place your belongings
1,0 Poor
Pros: Worst stay ever. I actually deserve a full refund. The receptionist was rude. When I entered room. It was messy. Bed wasn’t made properly. No shower mat in shower slipped on floor. Rubbish bins in bathroom and bedroom had rubbish in them. One sugar sachet. One milk. Old used soap left in shower. Room was dated not clean and smelt musty. No towels delivered the next day. Had to ask and then he made me wait while he played pool and said he had to go get them. Not happy.
Cons: Nothing.
7,5 Good
Pros: Amazing location, right in the middle of Rotorua. Friendly lady on reception. Good sized kitchen and dining area. Spacious room. Laundry facilities.
Cons: WiFi was non existent in our room unless we stood by the door. We wanted to watch the rugby but the “TV Room” shut at 10pm and when we asked we were told it didn’t actually show any TV anyway... Nowhere to hang anything up in the shower. The shower head was so low that I had to crouch to get fully under it (I’m 5’4!) and the shower basin was so clogged that it filled up to the brim within seconds. There was also some pubic hairs left to welcome us into the shower when we arrived.

6,0 Good
Pros: Good location downtown, close to waterfront. My "lake view" room was dated, with some cracks in the doorframe and aging furniture. However, was clean and overall adequately comfortable. "Lake view" from 2nd floor simply means a view of the spa across the street, which is actually on the lake - we had no real lake view and actually paid extra for the "view". Would need a higher floor for the view. Room was not worth the price. I would recommend staying away from this hotel. 3 stars at best.
Cons: See above.
10,0 Excellent

9,2 Excellent
Pros: Location , very friendly and courteous staff.
Cons: Our had adjoining door, we could hear loud taking at 3 in the morning until they left for breakfast.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Loved the staff they were awesome. The pool was great for my little one and ideal at breakfast as we could eat have a little swim then get on with our adventures. The food was great all round.
Cons: It was very hot and I found the air conditioning in the room was not sufficient. The room itself felt very small and stuffy unfortunately and affected my sleep. Which was a shame because the beds were so comfortable. Room service was hard to get in contact at times. Gave up and went to nikau for dinner which was not ideal as I have a 4 year old.
