Pros: The lobby of this hotel is breathtakingly beautiful. The huge 1920 Tiffany stained glass ceiling is an amazing world treasure and the art deco lobby is very elegant. The rooms are very large, luxurious and nicely furnished. On arrival, there was a special welcome cake with our name written in chocolate. All of the staff, Gabriela, Jaime, Salvador, and Victor, were kind and welcoming. They really try to make your stay perfect. The breakfast buffet was fabulous! The location is very convenient to many attractions, the cathedral, the amazing Temple Mayor and museum, and lots of restaurants. Every time you go in and out, you enjoy the spectacularly lobby. The entryway is monitored by a staff member. They were all so nice! We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay there again.

Cons: Cons: the room was small and compact, no real sitting area, just a desk and chair. Since we were out most of the day, it wasn't a big deal. Also, the shower stall didn't drain efficiently. All things considered, I'll return here next I'm in CDMX!

Pros: We had a very comfortable stay in this centrally located hotel. It's our first time to stay in this particular chain hotel; I must say, it's better than a Best Western or a Ramada hotel in terms of facilities (free use of the washing machines at the laundromat, small yet sufficient gym, all-day coffee station in the lobby, substantial buffet breakfast, name brand toiletries, etc.).
Cons: As in any big/chain hotel, the lack of personal touch was apparent in the front desk staff. Alexis was polite enough when he checked us in, but he quickly pawned us off to the concierge when I asked him a basic question that he might have been able to answer himself. When I called Alejandro from the gym to ask for the water bottles to be replenished (the guest before me drank up all the three bottles that were there), he informed me that the guests bring the complimentary water bottles from their rooms and that they will be replenished the next day. When I asked him if the water dispenser could be refilled as it was empty, he told me that he would see what he could do and that housekeeping would come. No one ever came. Living in a world-class tourist destination and working in the industry ourselves, we're used to going above and beyond for our clients. In this case, we felt that there was no effort from the front desk staff to provide even just a decent service.

Staff in the restaurant doesn’t not warn about something at additional price. Neither elevator no room keys work properly. The district is very far from points of interest and the restaurants’ area at Palenco.

Cons: The girl at the front desk offered me an early check in for 950 Mexican pesos. My two nights were already paid via booking.com. Few days later I got charged 4,900 pesos which is twice what I was initially charged by booking and this happened without me ever authorising this payment. So, Fiesta Americana can use your credit card without your authorisation for any amount, it seems. I’ve contacted booking about this and they’ve been in touch with Fiesta Americana but had no response from them.

Obviously security was pocketing the cash. Additionally, was promised a bottle of wine for being an Expedia Gold member via email. The hotel never made good on this offer. Highly reccomend you stay elsewhere.

Cons: I got a surprise as to the bill because I thought when I booked the room that I would be paying in Canadian dollars (which it said on the internet bill) but then when I checked in it said it was in American dollars. Which was a lot more than in Canadian dollars! However, that was fine, I just wish that they had put that on the internet bill when I booked the room. Still, the room was just great and I loved my stay there (4 nights). So that was just a minor problem! Also I did not like the breakfast and thought it was way over-priced for what you got. Food was cold. Small selection. Staff not as friendly as the front desk staff by far.

Pros: Excellent location. Initially put off when taxi driver told me you had to enter the hotel through a mall, but once done it was not a problem. However I think the access info should be included in the description (full disclosure). My room was spacious and comfy. Few small maintenance issues but overall a great value for the money. Very nice staff too.
Cons: Small maintenance issues like a broken/dangling toilet paper holder in bathroom, but appreciated other amenities like a full length mirror (for some reason a rarity in many Mexican hotels) and a bench big enough to accommodate and open your luggage.

Cons: The breakfast. We choose this hotel based on the location and the breakfast, but unfortunately, it didn't meet our expectations. We thought based on the pictures that it will be a bufet-style breakfast (and based on the reaction of fellow travelers, they did too). It was an A la cart option with one dish (Mexican or egg style dishes) plus coffee or juice, but not even a single glass of water. The food itself was of mediocre quality, compared to cheaper hotels the price was too high for the quality/quantity.

Cons: The hotel is not bad, newer, clean, rooms are nice, small but comfortable. The location is awful. It is on a main street however, you definitely cannot leave the hotel after dark. Very scary area.
The staff was NOT helpful. I have never had a problem checking into a room before the check-in time, especially if it is not a peak season which in this case it wasn't. I don't expect to get my room early but it is nice. In this case, the front desk agent decided to ignore me because she knew I had been waiting there for 3 hours to get my room which was finally given to me 30 mins after check in time with not even a sorry. The next day, I renewed my reservation for another night because I didn't have another option and it was getting late, I sent the front desk my confirmation and advised them it had been sent but when I went to get my new key, they said I needed to pay or get my things out of the room. In summary, the staff does not take ownership or knows that the guest is the most important thing. Maybe a good Customer Service training is needed there.

The traffic in the periphery of the hotel towards Reforma Avenue and any other direction is usually insane. I will never want to stay overnight in the area.

Pros: Location was exceptional. Very accessible to all kinds of public transportation, fairly safe area except the back of the hotel (from outside). It needs more lighting and have a more friendlier appearance. Bellman/security very friendly some of them very knowledgeable, and the young lady that serves the food at the breakfast buffet really knows what the customer service business is all about. She has a great smile and everything you ask for she gets for you without hesitating. One of the best things at the hotel are the security cameras on every corner of the floors. Beds were very comfortable, I guess it depends on your preferences as far as mattresses since I saw bad bed reviews from this hotel before.

Cons: Staff for the most part don't know what they are doing during check in/out.they seem lost. I'll give the front desk manager the credits for their lack of customer service and old system to run the operation. The restaurant hostess keeps telling you that you have to pay for breakfast as soon as you enter the restaurant; they say its policy to remind the guest they have to pay even if they have seen you for two weeks straight or if you have a visitor (potential client) for breakfast. (Not the best way to greet a customer), also chairs are extremely dirty.
Front desk charges you for lost key cards and they question you if you ask for extra keys; when if you go to a branded hotel you can loose 100 key cards and you won't pay a penny. If you want to exchange dollars at the hotel the pay you 10 pesos per dollar when if you go outside its 16 pesos per dollar. Basically they steal from you. Bad business practice! And lastly housekeeping don't dust rooms or deep clean bathrooms.

Pros: Right at in the middle of historic center. Easy way to the Bellas Artes, Zócalo and other national museum. Restaurants and Starbucks few feet away from the hotel. Hot showers and fresh bed sheets changed everyday. Will definitely use them again in the future.

Cons: Needs some investment. The linens and towels were very old. Internet connection was horrible. However the location and staff made up for the shortcomings. A little investment in the furniture to include lobby and rooms chairs and beds would go a long way. More attention to pillows and linens could place this property as one of the best in the city.

Cons: It is a bit loud at night but this is to be expected. Bring ear plugs. The lighting for reading in bed at night is terrible.

Cons: The room was a dump - it needs to be completely redone. Uncomfortable beds, no screens on the windows (and I got eaten up by a mosquito in my sleep). The bathroom was disgusting and old. Everything needs to be renovated.

Cons: The internet never worked which I needed for my work as a journalist on deadline. The bed was the same as sleeping on a slab of stone and the room had no temperature control, no fan, nor a screen for a window. As I had to work in the lobby to get any sort of internet, I obtained over 31 mosquito bites that are still bothering me.

Cons: My only complaint is that the wake up calls I asked for never came, and taxi van I asked for in advance, and been promised ("no problem") was not arranged. Fortunately, neither of these ruined our experience. We had three rooms, and we all set our own alarms, so the lack of wake up calls (3:45 AM the morning we flew home) didn't screw us up. When I got to the lobby at 4:00 AM, I found both the overnight staff (desk attendant and concierge) asleep on the couches. No van taxi had been ordered. They were able to hurriedly summon two smaller taxis for our group. Otherwise, the staff was both friendly and professional.

Cons: I expected that a building this old would be somewhat obsolete given today's demanding consumers. But the bed was really stiff and door to the balcony didn't shut well and I was afraid that someone from an adjacent balcony to break in to our room. The painter painted some of the tile edge. Also, the hot water pressure in the tub was very slow.
With the exception of the water pressure, I felt that it wouldn't have cost much to have fixed the others.
The wi-fi was a bit slow but I expected that the thick walls with years of leaded paint would come in to play. Wi-fi is not a reason not to stay at a historical building.

Cons: The room was in need of repair. (e.g. shower soap dish was in pieces, low water pressure, door handle broken.) The Cathedral Metropolitana next door has a clock that chimes on the hour and half-hour. All. Night. Long. Sleep was elusive!! Avoid rooms on the 6th floor since the restaurant is on the 7th floor. They start preparing the room for breakfast quite early so you will be awakened by all of the tables and chairs being dragged about. Some way to control the temperature of the room would have been appreciated.

Cons: The bathrooms have water damage on the ceilings and floor (no mold but cracked and some pieces of the ceiling hanging down). The hot water also took about 15 min before it started working—could be because I had to shower at 4 am though.

Cons: When I checked in, I was told that there was no hot water for shower until 9pm. However, the hot water wasn't available until after midnight, very annoying. Also charged for luggage stored there for a few days as no such charges in other hostel. No lift so prepare to carry your luggage up to 4th floor.

Cons: Stayed for 2 nights at women's 4 bedroom. No hot water available second night, was told they are waiting for the water truck to transport the water. There was cold water so i did not understand how the water system works. Slept without a shower. The sink was tiny and needs to be cleared, I simply could not brush my teeth without risking it overflow. I believe that is why most people brush their teeth in the shower, causes 1 hour shower time and eventual lack of water. The building is connected by staircase, reception's conversations are easily heard. In fact it resonates up the stairwell. The reception had a party and plastic confetti was over the floor, stepped into it by mistake and brought confetti into my room. No soaps and shampoos. Big blanket smells strange. The girl in my hostal says she imagined the beds in prison to be exactly like this. Pillows were old and lumpy. There is no clothesrack available despite space on rooftop. No clothes hanger. Could not do simple laundry. They cost 130 or 140 pesos for 5kg load here. On both nights, different people were checked in at 0200 in the night.

Cons: Poor design. The main lobby was full of building materials, no internet in the rooms only worked in the lobby and dining area, smelly rooms. The breakfast had potential to be good as it was vegetarian, unfortunately almost everything was with dairy/eggs. Some simple fruit would have been more appreciated. There was a school of 50 or more teenage students staying and they were very noisy at night and in the early morning

Cons: The hostel doesn't offer that atmosphere where you can hang out with others, plus they let kids sleep in it. The matress is really thin and the bathrooms need a tune up, they are smelly, rusty and some pieces broken. To finish the bedroom I was in didn't have a window.
