Pros: We borrowed the bikes and loved seeing Lucca that way.
8,8 Excellent
Pros: Close to the old city and the train station. Great shower and comfortable pillows.
Cons: There is construction on the main rode to the b&b so Google maps took me in directions that were closed off. So when I contacted the owner I felt he was abit annoyed with me. But it was neather of our faults. Im a vegetarian so when I ate breakfast I didn't get anything different from others. No cheese or vegetables. It's an old building so you hear the pipes when they are being used.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: Room, balcony, breakfast, friendliness of breakfast staff, cleanliness and location
Cons: No obvious access to a fridge. It would have been nice to have a cold glass of white wine, or soft drink on the balcony.

Pros: Nice hotel, very clean, friendly staff especially the young man at breakfast, excellent location right in the centre of Lucca.
Cons: Thought the price was expensive, but typical for the location and time of year. Parking was expensive at €15 per day. Although there was the option to park outside the city walls and then walk in, I don’t know how easy it would have been to find a space. The beds and pillows are quite hard. The air con unit was very noisy so we didn’t use it at night, although it was hot.

Pros: Friendly staff, beautiful old building with unbelievable charm. Best breakfast buffet we've had. Would stay there again.

10,0 Excellent
Pros: My husband and I stayed for one week, and can't recommend this hotel highly enough! Every member of staff we came across was so friendly and helpful, and most spoke very good English. The breakfast was excellent - a good selection of hot and cold buffet items that we enjoyed eating on the beautiful outside terrace. The pool area is perfect - very clean and always sunbeds and chairs available whilst we were there. Rooms are comfortable and cleaned to a high standard daily, the air con was a huge plus for us! Beautiful and easy walk (5-10 mins) to the walls of Lucca. We didn't feel we needed a car with us as we enjoyed exploring Lucca so much on foot, but on the occasions that we needed a lift (to the train station) the reception staff kindly arranged taxis for us. They also have bikes available to hire which would be another great option for exploring the walls of Lucca. We will definitely be returning to Hotel San Marco, and can't wait already!
Cons: Nothing - we loved the hotel.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: the staff were really nice and friendly, the chamber maids very hard working, the reception recommended great family run typical italian restaurants round the corner, which were very good value also. loved hiring the bikes even though at some nights we walked into Lucca. Pros: The property was clean. Although we did not have a vehicle there was lots of free parking available. We were upgraded to a room in a seemingly new building on the property.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Great breakfast - so much choice and fresh, quality food. Staff were very friendly and because we’d stayed we’d be bringing a travel cot for our baby they upgraded us to the annex so we’d have more room. Short wall to the wall and the pool was a welcome addition. Comfortable bed, good shower and AC. The hotel doesn’t have a restaurant for dinner but does do light snacks. We arrived hot and tired on a Sunday after a wedding and the staff ordered pizza for us which was just what we needed. Really pleased with our stay!
Cons: Nothing!

Pros: This is one of the most peaceful and beautiful places to stay outside of Lucca. The food was top notch, the pool and grounds were very relaxing, and the room was comfortable and quiet. We loved everything about our decision to stay here, even without a rental car.
Cons: The only potential downside is that it's about 3 miles outside of Lucca's city walls and the train station. We didn't mind this, as we wanted it to be a bit remote, but it's much more easily accessible with a car.
8,3 Excellent
Cons: Location. Far away from the city.

Pros: Our room and location
Cons: Upon arrival informed that the restaurant was unavailable for two nights of our four night stay. The two nights we ate food in restaurant the meals were excellent. We did find excellent restaurants in close proximity to the Hotel so that was a bonus.

Pros: We had the Sofia apartment as a family of four with two young adult children. The apartment is large with a separate bedroom. The living room/kitchen contains two additional beds. The apartment is very charming with many nice touches, a fully functional and equipped kitchen. We only spent one night there, but we consider this a perfect base for exploring Lucca at another occasion. The breakfast was also quite good: Boiled eggs, different kinds of breds, cheese,... Very nice staff as well. Overall highly recommended!

Shower broke but was repaired promptly. Decor quirky but bright and that was quite nice. Portable air con worked and was needed as we had hot weather. Plenty of plug sockets which is quite unusual. Extremely well located - just a few yards from the main pedestrian shopping street and close to access to the walls - where you can walk the full circuit. Good value and we would stay again
Cons: Lighting a little dim. The b & b was up 2 flights of stone steps which I don't think was mentioned and so could be difficult for anyone with limited mobility. Breakfast was fine although no hot dishes offered

Pros: Convenient to all the major sights and restaurants within easy walking distance. We walked too and from the train station...although easier to go to the station than initially to the hotel. You will have to carry bags up the rampart on going, but all down hill on departure. The hotel staff was most helpful, made several dinner reservations and we were always greeted with a smile and good day. The morning breakfast was delicious and a great way to start the day of sightseeing with a hearty breakfast.

Cons: don't get assigned to room101 because you will be up at 5:30 while they are in the process of preparing your breakfast. the clients should be a little more careful when leaving the rooms door slamming can be irritating
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in the Annex building room 14 which is 1.5 blocks from the main building. Our room was spacious and clean, with a firm King bed. The main building has free refreshments available all day long, and a happy hour with free Prosecco and beer 5-7. We also liked one could make his/her own Aperol Spritz for a mere 4 euros. A good opportunity to meet and converse with fellow travelers. The hotel is a short walk away from the main piazza and inside the walled city ring. The breakfast was good if not exceptional. Would only stay here if we ever return to Lucca!
Cons: Not much. We stayed in 10 different hotels during our recent Italy trip, i consider this hotel no. 2 of 10, only behind Hotel du Lac in Bellagio, which won out based on its sweeping lake views. The price was a little steep at E243 per night, but a good value considering all the amenities.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: everything! Super clean, great staff, comfortable rooms
Cons: no issues
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Ilaria and Francesco, both, spoke excellent English and were extremely helpful. The property was beautiful. All of the staff, including housekeeping and the breakfast staff were wonderful and very friendly. It was one of the best parts of our vacation. We were very pleased. The bicycles were free and in great shape.

2,5 Mediocre
Pros: The location is close to restraunts and shopping. It is quite a walk from the train station. Take a cab.
Cons: The electricity and plumbing are old and don't work well. It was extremely hot and too loud to sleep with the window open. They said we couldn't turn on the air conditioning and didn't offer a fan. We were up all night hearing the people above us. The complimentary breakfast gave us food poisoning.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Mario the business owner was beyond friendly, efficient and informative. Breakfasts were feasts of hot and cold food well beyond the usual continental breakfast. An elevator was also a welcome surprise in this old palazzo.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel! Staff were amazingly helpful and easy to deal with, the hotel itself was clean, comfortable, and perfectly located within the city walls of the old city. Parking was provided which is right around the corner from the hotel and secure, and the selection for the buffet breakfast has many and fresh. Highly recommend this hotel.
Cons: Nothing we didn't like.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: Warm and genuinely friendly welcome to a beautifully kept hotel. Although marginally more expensive than some of the other hotels we looked at it was definitely worth spending the extra. One of the best hotels we have stayed in whilst in Italy.
Cons: Nothing

8,3 Excellent
Pros: Great location within the city walls, near enough to all the restaurants, sites, etc, but quiet and not too far to walk to anything. Staff were great, and accommodating. A challenge running a hotel in a building that dates back 1600 years, so the inconveniences are not a big thing.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: The hotel is perfectly placed in the heart of Lucca. The staff were friendly and the rooms spacious and clean. It is a two minute walk into the cwntre
Cons: The breakfast was ok as long as you arrived early.

Cons: Nothing..
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Location was great for us as we arrived in Lucca by train (10 mins easy walk from the station) and we picked up a hire car a few days later from europcar (5-10 mins walk). 10 mins walk into the historic centre with it's piazza's, bars, restaurants and shops. Room was of a good standard - comfortable and clean with aircon. Breakfast was also great with decent choice and quality. We did not eat in the restaurant but we loved the bar next door (Bar Celide) and early evening provides a superb aperitivo buffet complimentary when you buy drinks.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Great staff, great location, great breakfast.
8,3 Excellent
Pros: Breakfast was well stocked continental, location is right outside the walls of Lucca which is perfect for exploring. Also a 5 minute walk from train station. Free bike hire is a massive bonus
Cons: Room was small, but we booked a cosy room so weren't expecting anything glamorous.
7,9 Good
Pros: Quite a good location just outside the walls. Nice enough rooms. Decent breakfast. The hotel kindly gave my father a bottle of bubbly to celebrate his birthday.
Cons: Terrace wasn’t staffed so couldn’t order drinks from there. Bathrooms needed a bit of a facelift. Understaffing at breakfast meant you had to wait ages to get your coffee etc. One of the receptionists came across quite rudely - claimed its impossible to book a taxi in advance?! No gym. Expensive for the quality of the accommodation.

7,1 Good
Pros: The location of the hotel is wonderful. It lies in the middle of a park which is especially great during the summer. Also, the hotel has nice, spacious rooms. It's a bit old-fashioned, However, we did not mind this.
Cons: The waitors are not very friendly. They seem to be in a bad mood all the time. In contrast, the receptionists are very nice. Also, the breakfast and the lunch are very mediocre. In addition, the hotel does not have a gym and running outside is very limited.

Pros: Amazing experience. Walking in here felt like walking into an old medieval Castle. Staff were so friendly, food was great, breakfast too, lovely to be able to have breakfast in the garden. Nice big pool, great for a little bit of relaxing. Good location, in a peaceful area though close to the city of Lucca. I would want to come back!
Cons: Rooms are a bit outdated, although I think it fits this hotel perfectly. For me no problem because it made the experience complete for me. Beds are a little hard.

Cons: We know the hotel- stayed there before- and know being large and old its decor is a bit tiredre

10,0 Excellent
Pros: Nice staff clean rooms and good breakfast and as we had a hire car free parking was a must
Cons: Not the hotels fault but a little hard to get to at first as road a little confusing to italian road Virgin! Maybe some instructions on website?
4,6 Okay
Pros: Quiet place. Housekeeping was good.
Cons: Outdated rooms. Hard beds. Bathroom outdated. short circuit sounds in airconditioning.
9,2 Excellent
Pros: This is a typical clean modern, well-appointed business hotel that because of its location works for tourists. It is a 15-20 minute walk from the walled city of Lucca where the main attraction is to walk the complete 4.5 km circuit of the town walls. The 2nd century walls are no more and those now existing are dated 1650. They are wide, paved, constantly in use and free to wander. Many tourists hire a bike to do this and here the Hotel scores highly as they have bikes free to use for guests. We borrowed them all day saving many euros and making getting around a cinch. The best places to eat in Lucca are in the Old Roman ampitheatre (now a modern piazza) where there are restaurants aplenty. Try the regional Wild Boar Stew. The botanic gardens accessed from the wall are worth a visit. Otherwise the main tourist attractions are the towns towers and churches. The Cathedral ticket is good value as the museum is interesting and the archaeological works under the Baptistery are fascinating if you are interested in such things.
Cons: If you like to come back to you hotel after a long day site seeing and sit and relax this is not the place for you. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere so once we returned in the evening there was nothing to do. We knew that so it's not a complaint.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Room was clean, bed was comfy, beautiful and clean bathroom and enough towels and toiletries.
6,5 Good
Pros: Modern hotel with friendly, helpful staff. Reasonable size rooms, very clean and generally well equipped. Restaurant and bar. Free parking on site.
Cons: The restaurant menu is limited, but OK on quality. Bar closes early. No fruit juice provided at breakfast. No tea/coffee making facilities in rooms. If you are a light sleeper, when booking ask for a room on the side away from the adjacent McDonalds - it's a drive in one that stays open until 3am and noisy. The hotel is a bit remote and a 10-15 minute walk along a busy road into Lucca centre if you are a tourist.
7,9 Good
Pros: Everything was alright, matching the price. Had a very good sleep.
Cons: A little bit far to the city centre.
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Hotel very nice, with everything you need in the hotel room. It's close to the highway and around 20-30 minutes by foot to the city center but great option are bicycles you can borrow for free:) breakfast I don't know as i didn't want to eat in a hotel, knowing that "italian" breakfast is not in my style;)
9,6 Excellent
Pros: Very modern and comfortable room.
10,0 Excellent
Pros: We loved everything. Very friendly staff and helpful as well.

8,8 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was chosen because of its proximity to my apartment. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable.
Cons: There was no hot water for a shower in the evenings although this was fixed the second evening. It was ok in the mornings. The temperature in the room was a little cool and there definitely weren't enough covers on the bed, but there was an extra quilt in the wardrobe which was used.
5,8 Okay
