Overview

A short way from the old centre of Lucca, the Best Western Grand Htl Guinigi, Lucca, Italy, is a spacious four-star hotel with comfortable rooms and family suites, free Wi-Fi, free parking for cars and coaches, a restaurant of Tuscan and international dishes, and a large conference centre. A bar stays open until late, public transport stops right outside the door, and the walled old town is quick to reach. The restaurant pairs hearty regional cooking with a good Tuscan wine list. Lucca is a beautifully preserved Tuscan city encircled by broad Renaissance ramparts. The tree-topped walls, wide enough to walk or cycle, ring the old town above the rooftops, cobbled lanes lead to Romanesque churches and the oval Piazza dell'Anfiteatro, and the Guinigi tower wears a crown of oak trees high over the city. Olive groves and the hills of the Garfagnana spread across the country beyond the walls.
