The pool and outside area were ideal for a drink and/or sunbathe. The added bonus of cycle hire was really welcomed - made our stay even more fun.

Pros: The staff was so welcoming and friendly. They made lots of recommendations and helped us find our way around Lucca. The hotel is located just outside the wall and they have bikes you can ride or take a leisurely walk around the entire city stopping at all the many sites. The breakfast was wonderful and seating is available on the lovely patio or in the dining room. Lucca is a charming town to visit and get away from all the crowds in Florence.

Cons: Access to the swimming pool could be better. A set of stairs as well as a ladder would be a positive addition. This would allow access for less mobile guests. The TV signal and picture for Sky News (channel 911) were both poor. The picture had the wrong aspect ratio (everyone was flat and wide) and there was a lot of electrical interference which often made it impossible to see the picture or hear the dialogue.

Pros: Lovely hotel and staff. Ideally situated to explore Lucca but also a quiet retreat for rest and relaxation. Lovely room, breakfast set us up for the day with great choices. The pool and outside area were ideal for a drink and/or sunbathe. The added bonus of cycle hire was really welcomed - made our stay even more fun.

Pros: The staff was so welcoming and friendly. They made lots of recommendations and helped us find our way around Lucca. The hotel is located just outside the wall and they have bikes you can ride or take a leisurely walk around the entire city stopping at all the many sites. The breakfast was wonderful and seating is available on the lovely patio or in the dining room. Lucca is a charming town to visit and get away from all the crowds in Florence.

Cons: The electricity and plumbing are old and don't work well. It was extremely hot and too loud to sleep with the window open. They said we couldn't turn on the air conditioning and didn't offer a fan. We were up all night hearing the people above us. The complimentary breakfast gave us food poisoning.

Pros: We paid for a small double room and indeed it was but was adequate for our two night stay. Hotel staff were very welcoming and helpful and breakfast was very good. Hotel is 100 metres from one of the entrances to the town but you don’t need to walk. The real bonus for us was free use of the hotels bikes. We made full use of these everyday and evening and cycled the whole wall more than once as well as all through the town. Great way to see Lucca!

She even loaned me her personal bag when I didn’t have a suitable one for attending the Elton John concert! How very kind! The air conditioned room was spacious, clean, well furnished, with tasteful, artistic touches on the walls throughout the house. The drinking water dispenser was a welcome touch! We were delighted with the free loan of the bikes to cycles on the city walls.... a lovely experience. Breakfast was good, with freshly squeezed orange juice and adequate food options, given the prices charged for the room. As we arrived late on the first day, it was a relief that easily accessible information was left out for us and we were able to let ourselves into our room.

Pros: Villa Corte Degli Dei is a really pleasant little B&B just outside the city walls of Lucca- you can walk into town in 15 minutes. The whole place is done in a somewhat quirky/ lightly camp style. Some people may find the rooms a little dark but overall that just adds to the cozy atmosphere. In addition the hotel has a beautiful garden and pool where you can relax after exploring Lucca. The staff is amazing, very friendly and helpful. We would love to come back.

Pros: The location was perfect to go into Lucca. A 5 minute walk and you were in the old city. We checked in after hours and it couldn’t have been easier. On checkout the man at reception was professional and pleasant and walked us out to our car. A real personal service. Would use again 100%. Ideal for a place to sleep and go out to explore.

Pros: This is our second time staying here. Excellent accomodation. Clean, comfortable and stylish! The hotel is about a 5-10 min stroll outside the walled town but we love this as you get to experience walking along the walls each time you had in to the centre. Cons: We payed a little extra for a room with a balcony, as shown in the photos. We were given room 1. Although great for unloading and loading the car. (Parked at the front door) our balcony/terrace area was in a car park to the side of the house. Not enough to put us off going back though!

Cons: The air-con was not powerful enough and the only other ventilation was the door out onto a balcony on the ground floor. With the temperature being so high and the humidity being very high, we didn't sleep well and had the balcony door open for some ventilation which wasn't ideal. The refrigerator in the room could have been colder.

Cons: There was no hot water for a shower in the evenings although this was fixed the second evening. It was ok in the mornings. The temperature in the room was a little cool and there definitely weren't enough covers on the bed, but there was an extra quilt in the wardrobe which was used.
