Gouged me for extra cash, would rent elsewhere next timePros:Clean car, ran well.Cons:This location is hidden in the back of a shopping center and very hard to find. When I showed up they told me they did not have the car or class of car that I had reserved. They gave me a small SUV instead of a midsize. Whatever, but I wanted the lower gas mileage. When I returned the vehicle, they charged me an extra $28 for being 14 minutes 'late' ($2/minute is a bit ridiculous). This was after one of their employees had told me by phone that it would not matter if I picked up or dropped off the vehicle a little bit late or a little bit early. I would look around to avoid picking up at this location again.Reviewed Dec 24 2018

Had a reservation but Hertz did not have a car for me to rentPros:DId not have any positivesCons:I had reserved a car at the hotel for the next day. When I went to pickup the car they told me they did not have one because they were sold out. ("busy week") They would not provide me any alternatives. I requested that they taxi or Uber me to the next location and they said they could not do that. Horrible customer service. 2 employees at location but neither could do anything to me. Worst case I would have thought they would provide transportation to another location or drive me. But I received nothing and they really did not even apologize for not having the car available. I will not be renting from Hertz anymore. It was just the only option at this location.Reviewed Oct 27 2017

Add on coverage unnecessaryCons:I pre-purchased all the insurance coverage needed to compliment our personal vehicle insurance. When my husband went to pick up the rental, with a full printed copy of the pre-purchased insurance policy in hand, he was told he needed additional insurance. He was in a hurry so he okayed it. As soon as he got back to pick me up and drop me at the airport en-route to his destination, I called Dana Point. They were already closed (Sunday just afternoon), so I called the main Hertz number. Got bounced around numerous times, no one would help, all saying we had to go back to Dana Point despite the drop off location being Palm Springs, or go to another Hertz counter in route of which there were none open. The added insurance by Hertz was a scam that nearly doubled the cost of the pre-paid car rental.Reviewed Oct 8 2017
