Pros: First, after some confusion (our problem) finding the car park, the staff was incredibly helpful and accommodating. The hotel itself was a wonderful surprise, a bit old world luxury, with lots of dark woods, polished brass, and oriental carpets. Room had all you would expect and more. Great breakfast as well.

Pros: We arrived to the hotel around 12pm despite check in time not being until 4pm. We were given a room that we actually thing was an upgrade on what we had paid for. We can only assume that this was a result of it being the only room ready at the time we checked in, no complains from us! The room was amazing, bathroom was full of space and modern design with a huge bath and walk in shower (also huge). The rest of the room was much better than our expectations. Superking size bed, 55"+ TV and dressing table as well as complimentary waters and chocolates on arrival. Staff throughout the hotel process were lovely to deal with and well mannered. We used to live in Galway and it's clear that the time & money invested in the Menlo has hugely increased it's standard and we will no doubt be staying there again going forward.

Pros: I loved the location - half an hour walk from the university. It was so quiet at night ( just the buzz of traffic but no noise from the hotel). The room was so comfortable and recently decorated with a great sized TV. Nice to have coffee / tea making facilities and outside there is ample parking. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Cons: We thought the breakfast was hit and miss, some elements were lovely but others were not up to the same standard. The price also seemed a small bit high but then again it was Galway on the last Friday before end of school holidays so maybe I'm just nitpicking!

Cons: No bath stopper, it took an hour before a very young girl came to room with 2 stoppers that didn't fit.The phone in th room didn't work. It took another hour when I had to go down to reception to ask what's goin on.I was then told I was getting another room. I drive tourists on tours around the country and I wont be recommending this hotel in future. Its definitely in faulty towers category!

Cons: Reservation was for a king-bed, "bay view" room. The first room we were given had a view of the lobby, and was a handicap access room. We asked for a different room, and were given one with all of the windows painted over and no air-conditioning (the room details said it was air-conditioned). It was very hot in the room, and the window would only open about 6 inches.

Cons: My room was not ready when promise. The person at desk explained she could only give me a economy room. After going to room late my wife and I tried taking a nap before dinner, I was over the gym. The staff first response was the gym closes at 10:00. They next room they gave us had stains on carpet and window frosted so yo can’t look out. Lobby was nice but I stay here many times and seemed run down.

Cons: upon arrival at the desk one member of staff just looked me up and down,then walked away as i was about to say hello while making eye contact,at this point a very helpfull guy with glasses welcomed us ,had a bit of a chat and booked us in,while sharing a joke with my son which made up for his senior member of staff.this is only a small matter in what was a perfect stay

Cons: At all times when walking down the corridors between the rooms there were black bags full of unwashed bedding. Even late at night. One evening we went to our room at 6 in the evening and it hadn't been cleaned. I saw a wall mains socket that had been pulled out of the wall in the corridor exposing mains electricity. Waitress staff late in coming with the coffee orders in the morning. Mains power cut when we were there not allowing a cooked breakfast in the morning. Why no back- up generator. Our room overlooked a housing estate and a small courtyard within the hotel complex that had astro-turf laid that was torn and shabby.

He stored our luggage for us and gave us great suggestions of where to go and what to see. Rooms were clean and comfortable.

Cons: There was little to no water pressure in the shower head even though they had expensive rain shower heads. It was a slow drip to take a shower. The room smells musty because it's OLD. We had 3 beds in our room, 2 of which were not cleaned because their covers were dusty - probably from people using the larger king bed and not the 2 smaller twin beds in the room. The mattresses were springy and soft - like sleeping on a trampoline. The hot water pot was full of white and black calcium build up that was never cleaned. The only good thing was the renovated bathroom with white tiles and a new toilet. There wasn't even free parking like my booking suggested. It was $10 for over night parking at a garage nearby.

Pros: The fellow at the desk was terrific . He was swamped with work , had no help , and still took a few moments to make us feel special and appreciated . He was doing everything , the desk , the bar , making food , and even changed our lightbulb while still maning all the other positions . A great employee.

Pros: Lovely experience from the Check in. A lovely young lady checked us in, She immmedaitely booked us a taxi when we told her that we were in a rush to get to NUIG for our daughters graduation. I am so sorry that I did not remember to check her name badge. After our ceremony and celebration dinner we arrived back at the hotel and we were looked after by the very friendly barman Chris. Our stay was only for one night this time unfortunately, but we plan to stay a bit longer in January after my annual stint in the red suit (HoHoHo)

Pros: Beautiful hotel with spacious and elegant rooms at the center and heart of Galway, only a 1 minute walk to the train station and a 3 minute walk to the Latin quarter. The hotel is in a beautiful stone turn of the century building that has been updated with all modern amenities. The rooms make you feel like you're staying in a palace.

Pros: We were in Galway to celebrate a special occasion. I contacted the hotel prior to arrival to arrange a few special requests. I dealt with Mateasragalj who was very accommodating. The service provided throughout our stay was excellent. Our room was very comfortable. We will definitely be back.

Cons: Stuffy over heated room - turned off heating and it still didn’t cool down No fresh air as windows bolted down The mattress was awful Very noisy from other guests movement to even their snoring could be heard. Every movement on the halls is heard and doors bang loudly. No black out blinds and room was lite with street lights the entire night Phone flashing red and not audible when requesting room service Hot tub and jacuzzi were filthy. Spa attendant unpleasant and put us off booking treatments so we went elsewhere. TV channels were advertised as satellite- in reality RTE1, CBBC and two others were all that actually worked This was to be a refreshing break and we both leave exhausted from lack of sleep

Pros: The traditional residential house made us feel at home. Rooms comfortable and clean. The breakfast (we tried both the sweet and salty choices) was really good, with also a small buffet added to the chosen menù. The ladies at the reception were really friendly and helpful. We never got issues to find a parking, even having a huge van, we always found parking within 50 mt from the facility. Really a nice location.
