Top tips for finding Cambridge hotel deals

  • If you’re looking for a cheap hotel in Cambridge, you should consider visiting during the low season. You'll find cheaper accommodations in Cambridge in September and May.
  • Hotel room prices vary depending on many factors but you’ll most likely find the best hotel deals in Cambridge if you stay on a Saturday. The opposite is true for, Wednesday, which is usually the most expensive day.
  • Book at least 90 days before your stay begins to get the best price for your Cambridge accommodation.
  • How long should you stay? KAYAK users usually book their accommodation in Cambridge for 5 days.
  • If you’re an art lover, consider booking a hotel next to the Fitzwilliam Museum, which contains a unique mixture of classical and modern art from all around the world. The 4-star DoubleTree by Hilton is just 3 minutes’ walk from the museum.
  • For travellers interested in military history, make sure to book a hotel near the Imperial War Museum Duxford, like the John Barleycorn, only 6 minutes’ walk away. The Imperial War Museum Duxford is dedicated to military vehicles from World War I and contains additional exhibitions related to warfare.
  • Hoping to explore some of Cambridge’s green spaces and parks? If so, pick a hotel next to The Backs, a large park made up of grassy areas, a river, walking paths, trees, and boating areas. The Hilton Cambridge City Centre hotel is 3 minutes’ drive from the park and a 6 minutes’ walk to the city’s downtown.
  • To explore some of the city’s impressive historical architecture, choose a hotel close to King's College Chapel, such as the stylish Varsity Hotel & Spa, only 4 minutes’ walk away. This chapel dates back to the 14th century and contains a large vaulted ceiling, stained glass windows, and medieval artifacts.
  • For anthropology enthusiasts, book a hotel near the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology. Connected to the University of Cambridge, this museum contains a large selection of ethnographic items from civilisations all across the world. The University Arms Hotel is a mere 2 minutes’ walk from the museum.

PROS: They accommodated our request for another room, and the room we settled on was great.CONS: We left a hairdryer in our original room, and it took days to retrieve it.

Hotel du Vin & Bistro Cambridge8.4/10 ratingout of 8 reviews · R175 avg price/ night
PROS: The hotel is fairly close to the center of town and is an easy walk to most everything you would want to see. The room we had was really comfortable and unique, not a chain hotel where all the rooms are the same. So that can be good and bad. I don't know what the other rooms were like but ours was really nice. The king bed was an actual US king size bed rather than UK kings which was a surprise. The bar was pretty neat also and we enjoyed a night cap there every night of our stay.CONS: There was a bit of a "city sewer" smell in the hallway leading to our room. It wasn't in our room though and we didn't complain but it probably needs to be taken care of. Probably a small repair so it isn't an ongoing thing just something that was going on while we were there....I hope.
