Pros: The whole experience was exceptional - the management was very sensitive to our needs and constantly checked that things we ok. My wife has problems with her mobility and there was always a staff member available to operate the lift when we needed to use the dining area. We've already recommended Spicer's to several friends. Simon and Mel were terrific.

Pros: We picked this hotel because it was in a great location and had a rooftop bar. It did not disappoint! We were walking distance to restaurants and the rooftop bar is so cute, stylist and has a beautiful view of the city skyline. The best thing about our stay was the breakfast. I was expecting something pretty standard - like a cooked breakfast of hash browns, beans, mushrooms and tomato (which is pretty much all you can have at most hotels when you eat vegan) but this menu was so good. I had the Vegan Grain Bowl with Tempeh and it was so tasty. There were loads of other options too so I actually had a choice. Really recommend this hotel.

Cons: Unfortunately our Room, Room 7 was right next to the kitchen prep room. The whole afternoon & evening the smell from the kitchen was terrible. We ended up ringing reception at 10:30pm as the smell was so over powering & we couldn't sleep. The staff member on duty was good & she got the door to the kitchen shut & knock on our door and gave us a candle to try and alleviate the seafood / vinegar smell. I recommend that the hotel keep their kitchen prep door closed at all times for the comfort of their guests. The staff were also quite noisy outside our Room through the night, felt like there weren't trying to be quiet at all around guest rooms at all.

Pros: The Reception Staff, the Valet and Concierge were incredibly helpful and happy to be of service. Cons: One lift was permanently out of order during our entire stay! On the morning of check-out only one lift was operating so waited for a while before a staff member saved the situation by organgising us to go from Level 10 to Lobby by service lift - not a good impression at all! Only a few tissues remaining in the bathroom so these ran out quickly. On both Friday and Saturday evenings returning to the hotel we decided a few drinks in the Pav Bar before retiring to our room but apart from the same disgruntled barman serving us with our first drinks when returning from the courtyard to but a second drink, the bar was closed - it was just after 10.30pm. We noticed other guests were vocal about this situation as well - not what you would expect to be lacking in an hotel of this calibre!

Cons: None of this is Stanford plazas fault. The booking website didn’t mention anything about valet parking included so we paid for alternate parking. The website also mentioned a balcony with a view but there was no balcony. The rooms AC wasn’t very good, we set it at 16 degrees and the room never cooled. It was hot all day and night.

Even the hotel guide/directory folder was worn and cracked and looked 20 years old. The finish on the taps and the shower head in the bathroom were peeling off. 3. There were no power points on either side of the bed. In an age where hotels provide multiple power sockets and USB ports this is inexcusable. 4. Wifi was so glacial I had to hotspot off my phone to work 5. The staff in the bar area were surly and unfriendly. 6. The food and drink prices were commensurate with a top five star hotel, which this establishment clearly is not.

Cons: The traffic noise from the 6th floor was very invasive. The mattresses were past their use by date and should have been replaced. The staff were either having a bad day or just annoyed with life in general.

Cons: Mix up with the payment. Credit card details were given to reception. However the money was still taken out of the wrong bank account. Informed hotel by phone call the next day, he was very unhelpful.

Cons: The shower over bath, could be a bit tricky for elderly people. Toilet dripping, closed door and it wasn't too bad. Staff offered to call plumber, but in the evening on a Sunday, I did say not to bother. They also offered a change of room, but again, because I had started to unpack etc. told them not to worry as I was only there for a short time, having to leave early next morning for airport.
