Cons: Hotel is on the other side of the river from the city centre. It is on a steep hill, which means that the walk into town is easy downhill, but it's better to get a taxi coming back.

Johnny, on reception, was very friendly and went out of his way to help make my mum's 80th birthday special. Hugely grateful for his help! My parents had the Darwin room which was very quiet. You can't hear any noise from the breakfast room which is overhead. Rooms have both normal and rain showers. Excellent wifi reception. Good choice of breakfast including full English (and vegetarian option), fruit salad, cereal and yogurt. Only a short, scenic walk to the centre of Bath.

Pros: The Ayrlington is a superb guest house . We had booked a 2 night stay last week in one of their deluxe king rooms . We travelled to Bath early to do the Bath skyline walk and were able to park our car at the guest house without any problem despite our early arrival. In fact, we were told at that point, that we were being upgraded to the guest house grand suite. This made our day, and on booking in later in the day, we certainly got the 'wow' factor' when shown to our suite. It was huge and decorated wonderfully. The lounge area also opened out onto the beautiful garden. The staff were all exceptional. The breakfast was delicious and the guest bar cosy with reasonably priced drinks. We will definitely return to this beautiful guest house and beautiful city and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to everyone,

Pros: The breakfast was wonderful and the location was great. The only problem was the shower, the door wouldn't close properly and the water would leak onto the floor. We stayed in Tulip and it was a beautiful room. The lovely guy at the desk was so helpful and couldn't do enough for us. We had a wonderful time there and would certainly recommend it to our friends and family.

Cons: The Siena room, my room, was a bit noisy as it faces the road but, as I got this room as an upgrade, certainly cannot complain. Very little I didn't like. This is a great place to stay.

The outcome was a birthday celebration for a special person in a hotel that is a special place! Cons: I think facilities were outdated. Very old decorated, tasteless. Wouldn’t attract young generation. With the spa facilities would have expected a jacuzzi as well as a gym. For our spa deal lunch was included - had no lunch choices had to choose the only option available. Waited for 30 min for dessert to arrive although we asked for it to arrive straight after main meal. So we were rushed to go to the spa treatment.

Pros: The location was perfect for our visit to friends in Bath. There was a good choice of food at breakfast. Our room was quiet and close to where we were able to park our car. The waiting staff at breakfast and in the restaurant were very pleasant and efficient and, without being asked, the staff brought a "Happy Birthday" treat for my husband at dinner.
Cons: At check-in we wondered if we were invisible as the receptionist ignored us even when we were next in line to receive attention. If she had said "I'll be with you in a moment" (with a smile) at least we would know she had seen us. My husband and his friend also encountered a rather surly male receptionist when arranging a taxi. The restaurant was some distance from the bar (where we met our friends) down some stairs. The layout of the hotel building is rather strange and elongated. After a long walk to reception with our luggage to check in, we then had to retrace our steps to the room. We would have liked prices on the wine list!

Pros: The hotel was in a lovely setting & location. We were staying here for a wedding so it was perfect venue. The hotel & our room was very clean. The room was spacious & had all we needed. The breakfast served in the dining area was very good. The staff were friendly too.
Cons: Unfortunately both myself & my husband found the temperature of the hotel too warm. I noticed many radiators were on in & around the corridors. Considering it was still fairly mild outside, although raining, the hotel seemed very busy with lots of guests I felt it was unnecessary for the heating to be on at this time.

An added bonus for us were the ground floor rooms, much easier for anyone using a wheel chair or any walking aid . This information is vital and not always available. The in house restaurant was good but a limited menu, breakfast however was excellent and well presented. Congratulations on having the cutlery laying flat so that cutlery can be picked up by the handle as opposed to the appalling widespread habit of standing it upright for everyone to handle the prongs of the forks and blades of the knives yuk! Cons: It says in the description is a party hostel, don't disregard this. It is right over a lively pub (especially on match nights) and can get very noisy. Phoning the evening before our visit we were told by Reception that the Red Letter "Chocolate Experience" was definitely not at the hotel, although this was the venue given to us. I rang the next morning, as we had a 4 hour journey to get to Bath and Reception said they would check and phone us back. An hour later I rang again to be told - "Oh, yes at 11 a.m." I then said "No, 2 pm" the reply was "Oh , I guess so".

Cons: The bed, so uncomfortable, the extensive building works going on, the noisy air conditioning unit in the room, the room was NOT a quiet room situated right next to the elevator, and the room let light in in loads of places. Was not at all impressed with not knowing that building works were being carried out and they started banging and knocking far too early in the morning!! The builders attitude and access in front of the Hilton and lack of care around guests also put us of staying another night, doesn't look nice at all when construction workers are hanging around outside and loudly talking to each in etc etc. Not impressed...

Pros: Breakfast was good- nothing cooked- as they said, but plenty of choice of fruit, yoghurt, cereals, toast, ham, muffins. My pot of decaffeinated coffee came very quickly. I had a single bedroom on the top floor. The room had a hand basin but I shared a toilet and a shower (no problem, there were two). My suitcase was carried up for me, and down by Angie when I left- thank you Angie!. I was able to leave my suitcase at 11am, and again the next day leave until 3pm. The bus-stop to the bus station or up to the University was outside the door.

Pros: Breakfast was good- nothing cooked- as they said, but plenty of choice of fruit, yoghurt, cereals, toast, ham, muffins. My pot of decaffeinated coffee came very quickly. I had a single bedroom on the top floor. The room had a hand basin but I shared a toilet and a shower (no problem, there were two). My suitcase was carried up for me, and down by Angie when I left- thank you Angie!. I was able to leave my suitcase at 11am, and again the next day leave until 3pm. The bus-stop to the bus station or up to the University was outside the door.
Cons: I was warned about the stairs, and I am used to Georgian houses. The dining room still had a Georgian fireplace, and some moulding- but the ceiling had a stain. The view out of the back window was a mess. Not all the hotels fault.

Pros: The hotel was very nice and the location is extremely convenient. The only thing I missed was having "Scrambled eggs" at breakfast although the hotel served boiled eggs everyday, but it is not the same ;) I expected the hotel would serve them as would any other hotel. They are not a "fancy" item that one would only expect in superior high-end hotels. Other than that, I truly enjoyed my stay at Parade Park, and interacting with their ever smiling staff.

Pros: Fantastic location and staff made the hotel! What it lacked in up to date decor etc it certainly made up for in character
Cons: Could be rather loud from the street of a night Would have preferred a bath and not just a shower.

Pros: Te people at reception, bar and breakfast were very friendly and helpful Staff brilliant. I feel sorry them having to work in a old run down hotel like this and keep still a straight face. But the staff were exceptionally good
Cons: The rooms and facilities are very outdated. Rooms are not at all good and needs serious upgrading Black mould and dirty bathrooms Noisy area; As a whole the hotel is very old and in need of desperate repairs

Pros: Loved location. Bed was very comfy and view from room was good. Breakfast was adequate
Cons: No lift. Two pensioners were put on top floor. Glad we didn't have to share toilet and bathroom. Staff member was not concerned about our mountain climbing to the top.

Cons: Loud drinkers on the street below windows makes in hard to sleep with windows open, but lack of air conditioning makes it impossible to close the windows. Wi-fi has limited functionality. No parking on site or nearby. Expensive.
